Joe Jonas waiting for Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello to kiss is everyone at MTV VMAs 2019

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello left the world thoroughly teased with their performance of Senorita, and no one encapsulated the moment better than Joe Jonas.

The pair walked the MTV VMAs red carpet separately but came together during the ceremony, with everyone waiting to see if they’d make their romance official with a kiss on the big stage.

Spoiler alert, they didn’t – although they’ve been spotted kissing on numerous occasions beforehand.

What we were left with, however, was the incredible reaction of Joe Jonas, who looked both bewildered and in shocked joy after the pair consistently embraced each other.

We feel you, Joe.

Joe, who was joined by wife Sophie Turner, also performed with the Jonas Brothers at the bash in a pre-recorded performance.

The 2019 MTV VMAs are hosted by stand-up comedian and actor Sebastian Maniscalco, with Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande earning the most nominations with ten each.

Performers on the night include Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Big Sean, Fetty Wap, H.E.R, J Balvin, the Jonas Brothers, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, Normani, Queen Latifah, Wyclef, and Rosalia.

As well as Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello performing together, Missy Elliott is set to bag the Video Vanguard Award – with past winners performing a medley of their greatest hits.

Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Billie Eilish were the big winners at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards 2019, scoring three awards each.

The 36th annual bash took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, this year, hosted by actor and comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.

From the outset, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande were lined up for the most awards at ten nods each. Both of them were given equal sharing on the night, earning three awards each despite the latter not attending the ceremony.

Ariana earned Best Art Direction, Song Of The Summer for boyfriend with Social House, and Artist Of The Year, while Taylor Swift scored Video Of The Year, Video For Good, and Best Visual Effects.

Billie Eilish also earned three awards for Best New Artist, Push Artist Of The Year, and Best Editing for hit song Bad Guy – but was another no show at the event.

Despite the actual rushed award giving, there was some suitably ludicrous performances on offer – with Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello delivering an almost-kiss tease which will leave everyone gossiping about their romance for weeks.

Taylor Swift kicked off the show channeling the video for You Need To Calm Down, with references to the Equality Act before calling out the White House in her acceptance speech over the petition surrounding it.

Missy Elliott, who was awarded the gong of Video Vanguard this year, delivered a killer medley of tracks in one of the crowning highlights, while Lizzo’s inflatable bum prop was just as incredible as her vocals.

Following her publicised split from Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus provided the show with a rare raw moment of intensity – debuting new song Slide Away with sweeping strings.

Despite the impressive performances, the bash was bizarrely lacking of noteworthy moments – with a bizarre closer from Queen Latifah, Naughty by Nature, Redman, Fetty Wap and Wyclef Jean feeling like a fever dream from a different decade.

While it wasn’t a historic year for the MTV VMAs, with notable omissions and a lack of live mishaps (John Travolta aside), the lively performances kept this event afloat.

Britain’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden’s ageless faces mocked by co-stars

Britain’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden’s very youthful faces have been branded ‘curious’ by their fellow judge David Walliams and hosts Ant and Dec ahead of the new series.

The judges have been teasing each other over their changing appearances as they prepare for the highly anticipated Champions series to get underway on August 31.

Simon, in particular, has been attracting headlines lately for his changing face and David won’t let him forget it, with his co-hosts pointing out how he actually looks younger than he did when the series began 13 years ago.

‘Well, Simon looks younger now, which is curious. I don’t know how he managed that,’ David jibed.

Amanda was a little kinder with her words, gushing: ‘Doesn’t he look amazing?

‘He looks about 15 years younger. He’s just really embracing and enjoying life, and I’m really thrilled for him. It’s just incredible to see.’

Baby faces (Picture: Syco/ITV)

However, Dec teased Amanda, adding: ‘You can tell the ageing process throughout watching the show!

‘That’s the problem we’ve got, it’s not just watching the last ten years of Britain’s Got Talent clips, it’s all the stuff before that.

‘So we’ve got a lot of dodgy hair and dodgy outfits out there.

‘It’s amazing as well because Connie Talbot’s 12 years older and we would look 12 years older, yet Amanda looks 12 years younger.’

Fair point.

Elsewhere, Simon took a swipe at David who ‘lives for attention’.

‘You’ll never ever change him. As annoying as he is if he wasn’t there, I think you’d miss him.’

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions will kick off on ITV on August 31 and will air on Saturday nights for six weeks.

Strictly Come Dancing is back with a bang as class of 2019 put on the ol’ razzle dazzle

The clean up must have been impossible with all those sequins (Picture: Mike Marsland/WireImage)

It’s that time of year again – Strictly Come Dancing has officially begun with its extravagant launch party.

The event itself – which of course was all sequins and glitter – was joined by fan-favourite presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, the new group of contestants, the professional dancers and the judges.

This year’s celebrities were introduced at the red-carpet event, followed by a lot of them showing off their already pretty impressive dance moves.

Anneka Rice and CBBC’s Karim Zeroual walked out together while YouTube star Saffron Barker and BBC Sports news presenter Mike Bushell came out looking like they’ve been foxtrotting since they were born.

In all honesty, former England goalkeeper David James’ outfit had our jaws dropping to the floor in both shock and amazement.

He rocked a glittery red shirt paired with a brave floral blue blazer and trousers while Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing gave David a run for his money with a bright blue blazer and trousers combo piece.

However, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle Visage missed out on the big launch.

Professional dancers on the roll call include Oti Mabuse – also sister of new judge Motsi – who showed off her talent dancing with Graziano di Prima.

Maybe Gorka will return next year (Picture: Lia Toby/Getty Images)

Judges Craig Revel-Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli got involved in all the glittery action too – along with Motsi.

Motsi, 38, seriously blew us away with her one-shoulder black and red dress which cut off into a bright red layered mesh which cascaded down her body.

Neil and Katya Jones gave us their all with a united display during the launch, despite announcing their split just a week ago.

Neil flung Katya – who he was married to for six years – around the place, with the Russian dancer hanging upside down with her legs wrapped around his waist at one point.

Consider us floored.

We eagerly await confirmation on who each celebrity will be partnered with, but it was confirmed by pro dancer Gorka Marquez he won’t be dancing with a star this year.

However, that didn’t stop Gorka from boogieing with Karen Clifton.

The show is set to land on screens on Saturday 7th September and if this launch event was anything to go by, we’ve got big, exciting, dancier things on the way.

Saffron Barker is shaken about her Strictly Come Dancing debut after falling flat on her face in rehearsals.

The YouTuber has revealed she was the only celebrity to fall whilst practising the first big group dance for the live launch of the BBC One Latin and ballroom contest on September 7, but she is ‘embracing every moment’ of the experience.

She told Digital Spy: ‘I’m so nervous, I’ve had butterflies all day, I can’t stop going to the toilet, but I’m just embracing every moment.

‘I can’t believe that I’m here. I feel like I’m in a bubble. It’s day one, but I already know I don’t want it to end.’

On the embarrassing moment, she added: ‘I was the only person to fall over in the group choreography number.

‘Like flat on my face – it was so embarrassing, I was bright red. So I’m just hoping I don’t redo that.’

We hope so do for her sake!

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old social media star recently admitted her Strictly partner will ‘hate her’ because she will not want to stop training for the show.

Saffron feels like the ‘luckiest girl alive’ to be one of this year’s celebrity contestants, and she is determined to work her ‘absolute socks off’ during the ‘hard’ training sessions.

She said: ‘I think my partner is going to hate me, because I will not want to leave that training studio.

‘I want to work my absolute socks off, be the absolute best that I can be.

‘I’m so excited for everybody to come on this journey with me.

‘I’m so grateful, I feel like the luckiest girl alive. I can’t wait for everything. I’m excited to learn a new skill, I’m excited for all the glitz and glam.’

She added: ‘I know it’s going to be so much hard work. I’m ready to work hard and get in that training studio.’

Saffron will be joined by Jamie Laing, Will Bayley, Michelle Visage, Viscountess Emma Weymouth, Karim Zeroual, Mike Bushell, Catherine Tyldesley, David James, Chris Ramsey and Emma Barton on show.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 starts on BBC One on September 7.

Eddie Murphy is returning to host SNL for the first time in 35 years

Eddie Murphy is coming back to Saturday Night Live for one night only – and that’s the first time anyone’s said that since December 1984.

The comedian and actor has taken a backseat from the public eye in recent years, but his comeback to the film and TV circuit – not to mention stand-up – is fast hurtling into view.

Murphy is reportedly going to release a stand-up special on Netflix in the coming months, while he also has the lead role in the upcoming comedy biopic Dolemite Is My Name.

And let’s not forget that he’s currently working on the long-awaited sequel to his 1988 film Coming To America.

Arsenio Hall and Eddie Murphy

And if that’s not enough Murphy to satisfy you, then you’ll be elated to hear that SNL have secured the services of the 58-year-old to guest-host their Christmas episode this year.

Set to air on 21 December, Murphy’s booking was one of five guest hosts announced in the reveal yesterday (26 August) of the long-running US variety show’s autumn and winter schedule.

A musical guest for Murphy’s episode has yet to be finalised.

Murphy last hosted SNL on 15 December 1984, one season after his departure from the show as a regular cast member.

The comedian later made a brief appearance during SNL’s 40th anniversary special in 2015 – but instead of playing Bill Cosby as many expected, he instead briefly appeared to thank the audience before leaving the stage.

You can be almost certain that Eddie won’t keep it as brief as that when he returns to the SNL stage on 21 December.

Peaky Blinders is certainly back with a bang, as season five kicked off with just as much violence and intrigue as we’ve come to expect.

With a member of the gang already having been brutally dispatched, we’re on the edge of our collective seats waiting to see what will happen next in episode three.

This series has also introduced us to new character Billy Grade – an ex-footballer turned singer who’s put under pressure by the Peaky Blinders.

If you’re wondering who plays Billy and where you’ve seen his face before, then stay put, because we’ve got what you’re looking for right here…

Who plays Billy Grade in Peaky Blinders?

Billy Grade is played by Dublin-born actor Emmett J. Scanlan.

Emmett, 40, is best known for playing Brendan Brady in Hollyoaks from 2010 until 2013.

He’s also had recurring roles in the likes of The Fall from 2013 until 2016, In the Flesh in 2014, Constantine from 2014 until 2015, Butterfly in 2018, and has appeared in episodes of Atlantis and Krypton.

Emmett can also be spotted in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 as the Head Riot Guard.

Since 2015, Emmett has been married to his fellow Hollyoaks alum Claire Cooper, who played Jacqui McQueen from 2006 until 2013.

You’ll next be able to spot him in the films Here Are the Young Men, Lapwing and The Jester from Transylvania – all of which are currently in post-production.

Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas believes her new fellow panellist will deliver plenty of constructive criticism to the celebrities and their pro partners when she makes her debut on the panel later this year, and insists she will show no favouritism towards her sibling, who is a dancer on the series.

She said: ‘I feel as though she will judge without fear or favour – it’s always a question about her sister and her being in the show but I know her integrity and her family and it’s just second to none. She’s amazing.

‘She’s firm but fun – she says it as it is, she’ll deliver them a message every week so they can improve. She’s not a harsh person, she’s really very loveable.’

And Shirley admits she gets on so well with the 38-year-old dancer, who is the ‘funniest person’ she has ever met.

She added to Mirror Online: ‘Her inside is as beautiful as her outside and she has got to be the funniest person I’ve ever met in my entire life.

‘So her sense of humour, my sense of humour really goes well together you know.’

While she is yet to take her place on the panel, Motsi has already had to make an apology – to the town of Blackpool, after previously describing the place as the ‘ugliest’ she had ever seen.

Writing in her autobiography, she said: ‘Every dancer knows the town, which is the ugliest that I had ever seen.’

But she has now back-tracked on her comments, insisting the seaside town – which she first visited in 1988 – is ‘different’ to her native South Africa.

She told The Sun: ‘Oh come on guys give a girl a break! It was 20 years ago I was young and innocent.

‘Blackpool is absolutely huge in Strictly but when you come from South Africa and you have your first impressions and you arrive in Blackpool, well it’s different.

‘It’s different let’s put it that way. But what I’ll also say, if you walk into the ballroom it’s absolutely spectacular.’

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 starts on BBC One on September 7.

Viola Davis is playing Michelle Obama in a new show about First Ladies

First Ladies is coming soon… (Picture: Getty)

A new TV show about the Office of the First Lady is in the works, meaning that Michelle Obama will soon be portrayed by an actress on the small screen for the very first time.

No pressure, then, Viola Davis.

Variety are reporting that Davis has signed on to produce First Ladies as well as playing Michelle Obama, who memorably served as First Lady between 2009 and 2017.

Showtime are producing the forthcoming series, which in its first season will look at the respective personal and political lives of Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford and Obama in the East Wing of The White House.

Novelist Aaron Cooley is writing and executively producing First Ladies, with a prospective release date still to be confirmed.

While she hasn’t been portrayed on TV before, Michelle Obama has been depicted on the big screen – most notably in the 2016 movie Southside With You, where she was played by Tika Sumpter.

The Obamas themselves are unlikely to have any involvement in First Ladies, but the couple are making their own moves in the TV world with their company Higher Ground Productions.

After appearing in a featurette last week with the directors of the first Higher Ground-commissioned film, the Obamas have also given the green light to the upcoming drama series Bloom and a feature film adaptation of David W. Blight’s award-winning biography Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom.

There’s going to be plenty of Obama-approved TV content on the way – and that’s fine by us.

Lucifer fans are waiting with bated breath to see what the show’s creators have in the store for the fifth and final season.

While the Netflix show is still very much in production, showrunner Ildy Modrovich gave followers a little nugget to work with on Twitter.

‘Okay… real mystery: initials of episode 501: R.S.D.G. Any guesses? #Lucifer #LuciferSeason5’, she wrote.

Naturally, the guesses flooded in as one fan suggested that it stood for ‘Return Satan Dear God.

Remember Satan Dear God… Like in a really ironic way,’ another wrote.

‘Rescue Satan Detective Girl!’ one follower guessed.

While a popular guess was ‘Rescue Samael Dear God’.

‘READY. SET. DEVIL. GO. I am betting on this with my life.#LuciferSeason5,’ one confident fan wrote.

‘LOL should have reminded people it’s always a bit of dialogue/something someone would actually say in conversation!’, another pointed out as guesses became more and more outlandish.

But one user managed to get the showrunner to reply to a guess.

Replying to a video the showrunner tweeted from a Rolling Stones concert, one user said: ‘Awesome – you have me rethinking my guess on your other tweet – Rolling Stones Devilish Genes- lol – great concert!’

Meanwhile the show’s star Tom Ellis became emotional when speaking about the last day on set of season five.

Lucifer will return to Netflix.

A fan of The OA has gone on hunger strike to protest the series’ cancellation

The OA on Netflix
Fans are really upset by The OA’s cancellation (Picture: Netflix)

Netflix’s The OA was cancelled earlier this year and now a fan has gone on hunger strike in protest.

Superfan Emperial Young, 35 is staging the strike outside Netflix’s headquarters in Hollywood amid a huge campaign by fans to #SaveTheOA.

The sci-fi series which stars Brit Marling and Jason Isaacs was axed by the streamer after two seasons this summer sparking mass demands for the decision to be overturned and the story concluded.

Young criticised Netflix’s algorithm and blamed ‘capitalist forces’ for killing the show.

‘Entertainment is food for the human soul and Netflix’s algorithm isn’t measuring that right now,’ she told Insider.

‘And by not taking physical food, I’m saying that this show is more important food to me than actual food.’

She also took to Twitter to elaborate on her reasons for taking such drastic measures and urged others not to follow suit.

‘While it looks like I’m protesting a TV cancellation on the surface, I am protesting the capitalist forces that killed the show, general lack of societal support resources, and to raise awareness about properly teaching AI,’ she wrote.

‘The cancellation is a lens for these topics.’

She added in a thread: ‘Which doesn’t mean I’m not trying to save the show. I definitely, definitely am! But that’s not all I’m doing.

‘Hunger strikes should not be undertaken frivolously. While I support individual autonomy and the right to choose for yourself, please examine your motives thoroughly.’

Star of the show Marling has called the outpouring of support following the cancellation ‘heartening’ and wrote a lengthy message to fans on Twitter.

‘We’re humbled, to be honest floored, by the outpouring of support for The OA,’ she said.

‘Your words and images move us deeply. Not because the show must continue, but because for some people its unexpected cancellation begs larger questions about the role of storytelling and its fate inside late capitalism’s push toward consolidation and economies of scale.’

The actress went on to say that she met Young and was moved by her words.

As for how long she’s planning to remain on the strike, Young told IndieWire: ‘I’ll go as long as I have to. Gandhi did a lot of fasts, the longest he did was 21 days, but most of his were five-six days.

‘I’m going to see how far I can go.’

Meanwhile, fans continue to urge other streaming giants to pick up the series for a third season.

The OA seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.

A still from US show Power's sixth season
Power’s sixth season has finally made it to Netflix UK (Picture: Starz)

The folks waiting for Power season six to arrive on Netflix on Bank Holiday Monday finally had their patience rewarded after the first episode of the new series duly arrived.

While everybody was expecting the show to drop at 8am – in keeping with the usual release time of new series and episodes on Netflix – the instalment of the crime drama’s final season didn’t arrive until yesterday afternoon, with Netflix confirming the news cia Twitter – much to the delight of viewers.

And although no explanation was given for the delay, it was all worth the wait.

With the final series currently airing in the US, more episodes are of course on their way – but just how many are you getting and when can you expect to see them?

Here’s what you need to know.

How many episodes are there in Power season 6?

There are 15 episodes in total in the final season of Power – but don’t expect to see all of them in the near future.

Only the first 10 will be shown in the initial run in the US, with the remaining five set to air in January 2020 as the Starz show wraps up for good.

Netflix UK has confirmed that new episodes of Power will be released weekly during the series, arriving on Mondays – the day after the instalment has aired across the pond.

The exact time of the release of the subsequent episodes has not been confirmed.

Power stars Omari Hardwick as drug dealer James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick, who is attempting to leave the criminal world to focus on his legitimate nightclub business, while at the same time trying to keep his personal life together.

The fifth season ended with a bit of a cliffhanger after one of the show’s main characters was shot, leaving their life hanging in the balance.

Why is Power ending after its sixth season?

A still from season six of Power
You can expect to see some of the characters again in spin-offs (Picture: Starz)

Executive producer 50 Cent (who also appeared in the show as drug dealer Kanan Stark) revealed back in May that he was bringing the show to an end in order for it to go out on top.

While it might be the end for Power, however, it’s not the end for its characters – as showrunner and creator Courtney A Kemp is working on spin-offs from the series.

‘Season six brings us to the end of what we know is just the first chapter of the Power story. However, as one chapter comes to an end, another will begin,’ Starz programming president Carmi Zlotnik said in a statement.

‘Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent have created a world rich with complex and dynamic characters, and there are a number of stories we plan to tell as we continue to explore and expand the Power universe.’

The Simpsons producers aren’t ruling out a second movie or spin-off series

As the show itself joked all the way back in 2002: ‘They’ll never stop The Simpsons! Have no fears, we’ve got stories for years…’

The much-loved cartoon may have waned in quality in recent years, but the Simpsons juggernaut powers on regardless – seasons 31 (!) and 32 (!!!) were commissioned earlier this year.

Evidently backed to the hilt by their new owners Disney, the producers of The Simpsons appear to have also been given the freedom to explore other Simpsons-related venues away from the main series.

The Simpsons Movie (2007)
A second Simpsons movie appears to be more and more likely to happen (Picture: Matt Groening/20th Century Fox/Kobal/REX)

Speaking at the Disney fan event D23 Expo over the weekend, Simpsons executive producer Al Jean said that they’d ‘talked about’ a second Simpsons movie and even a spin-off series with Disney (via Variety).

Matt Selman, another executive producer, added: ‘I think Disney would be supportive of anything we wanted to do, maybe a crazy limited series with a side character or a movie that we surprised you with.

‘They’ve been really creatively supportive, and this is going to afford so many new ways to do the show than just the traditional format.’

Talk of a second Simpsons movie has already been put back on the agenda after creator Matt Groening said last month that it was a real possibility.

A Simpsons spin-off series has never been attempted, though: although the show toyed with the idea back in May 1997 with The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase.

That excellent one-off episode, made during the show’s golden era, included the brilliant Chief Wiggum, P.I short, in which Chief Wiggum teamed up with Principal Skinner to tackle crime in New Orleans.

Simpsons fans would definitely welcome a fully realised version of that idea, but it’s by no means guaranteed.

50 Cent responds to the fan backlash over Power’s theme song change

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, 50 Cent.

That’s the message that fans of the rapper’s TV series Power have been delivering in their droves over the weekend after the crime drama decided to freshen up its theme song for its sixth and final season.

Power’s last-ever season opener premiered in the US on Sunday (25 August), but it got off to a rocky start when it quickly became clear that the show’s theme, Big Rich Town, had been remixed.

A risky move, we think you’ll agree.

Netflix
‘What do you mean they changed Big Rich Town?’ (Picture: Netflix)

The original version of the 50 Cent track featured the vocals of the New Jersey singer Joe, but it’s now been replaced for season six by a Trey Songz-featuring take on the track.

Needless to say, people responded to this relatively tiny change reeeally well.

50 himself was sufficiently moved enough to respond to the backlash with a few posts on Instagram.

Here’s one clip where he (almost) manages not to break into laughter while entertaining the idea of bowing to fan pressure and bringing back Joe’s version.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B1nH-0oHazt/?utm_source=ig_embed

Sorry, disgruntled Power/Joe fans: it looks like Trey Songz is here to stay.

While the current season of Power may be the last in its original format, the show will live on in the upcoming spin-off series Power Book: II.

Mary J. Blige has been cast in the prequel series, which is, according to series creator and co-showrunner Courtney A. Kemp, set to be the first of ‘several’ prequel series set in the world of Power.

Power airs on Starz in the US, but UK fans can watch the first episode of the new season now over on Netflix.

The judges are back very soon… (Picture: Love Productions/Mark Bourdillon)

That’s right cake fans – The Great British Bake Off is finally returning to our screens.

Tonight, as the 10th series kicks off, we’ll see the return of judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and hosts Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding, along with 13 brand new contestants.

As we get ready to see the bakers battle it out in the hopes of being named Britain’s best amateur baker, here’s what you need to know about when to catch tonight’s episode, and what this week’s theme will be…

What time is The Great British Bake Off on tonight?

The tenth season of Bake Off is kicking off tonight, Tuesday 27 August, at 8pm on Channel 4.

The season will consist of ten episodes, each an hour long, and each week the bakers will take on different tasks with a view to proving they have what it takes to be Britain’s best amateur baker.

What is week one’s theme on Bake Off?

The theme for week one will be Cake Week.

The bakers will have to make a complicated fruit cake, and nostalgic Technical and Showstopper challenges, with the criteria for Showstopper being that it must harken back to the bakers’ childhoods.

On the subject of the tasks, Paul has said: ‘It’s been interesting to come up with some unusual things this year – the challenges I think have been scaled back a little bit.

‘I thought sometimes we’ve been running away with some of the challenges being too difficult.’

Peaky Blinders, the hit BBC crime drama, returned to our TV screens for a fifth season on Sunday evening, with a second episode following on the Bank Holiday Monday.

The double bill saw Cillian Murphy return to the lead role as Tommy Shelby, as the Shelby family desperately try to recover from the 1929 Wall Street Crash.

Unsurprisingly, illicit affairs and a violent undertone continue to rock the lives of the Shelby family, and ghosts from Tommy’s past appear. After a tense first episode, with Tommy attempting to build a new career as a self-styled people’s politician, there are many burning questions to be answered in episode three.

With such a highly-anticipated series return, it’s no wonder that Peaky Blinders viewers are clamouring for their next fix of the Birmingham-based series.

When is the next episode of Peaky Blinders on?

Following a double Peaky Blinders treat over the Bank Holiday weekend, eager fans will have to wait until next Sunday, 1 September, to watch the newest episode, called Strategy. The third instalment of the fifth series will air at 9pm on BBC One.

How many episodes are left of season 5?

There are currently four episodes left of the fifth series. After the next episode on Sunday, we will already be halfway through. Season 5 of Peaky Blinders has six episodes in total.

After a hiatus of nearly two years, and a BAFTA win in the meantime, a six day wait will surely pass quickly. Until then, we’ll be counting the days until we get our next fix of the action.

Episode 3 of Peaky Blinders’ season 5 will air on Sunday 1 September at 9pm on BBC One.

The Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite has revealed his life was ‘derailed’ by the show after work dried up.

The 30-year-old was a 23-year-old law student when he appeared on GBBO – then on BBC2 – in 2012 and was crowned champion over Brendan Lynch and James Morton.

After the series aired, John was offered a six figure deal to write two cookery books and was paid ‘entire salaries worth of income for a job here, a week of work there’.

However, the cook admits that when series four of the competition rolled around on TV, introducing a new group of baking stars, the lucrative offers stopped rolling in and it had an effect on his mental health.

Writing in The Telegraph, John explained: ‘As the next batch of Bake Off stars emerged, my appeal shrank. Year on year, the working days became fewer and financial offers were smaller. The life to which I had become accustomed slowly dissolved.

‘With more days alone at home, waiting by the phone like an anxious 1980s teenager urging their crush to call, my already depressed state of mind worsened. I became lonely and sad. I drank more than I should have and posted unwisely on Instagram and Twitter.

‘Some days I’d wish I had never been on the show, because in reality, it totally derailed me from a steady lifepath.’

John said he does not blame the BBC or the production company for failing to give him advice on how to cope with the ‘transcience of the industry’, saying he would have been attracted to the fame either way, but believes there should be ‘serious reform’ on how Bake Off stars are ‘guided through post-show life’.

Series 10 kicks off tonight (Picture: Channel 4)

The Chopping Block star went on to open his own cookery school in a renovated barn and has since written books for an independent publishing house and moved back up North.

He added that he would ‘absolutely’ enter GBBO again, but would approach it differently.

The Great British Bake Off kicks off its 10th series tonight with its youngest batch of bakers yet – with seven of the 13 bakers under the age of 30.

They include a geography teacher, a fashion designer and a veterinary surgeon.

Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are back as judges, while Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig return to host.

The Great British Bake Off is on at 8pm on Channel 4.

James ‘Arg’ Argent, Caprice and Love Island’s Hayley Hughes were worlds away from the glamorous lifestyle they prefer to enjoy for the latest episode of Celebs On The Farm.

In the first messy challenge of the show, the stars are seen mucking out on the farm and judging by their faces it was much harder than they expected.

The stars appear on the show along with former Strictly Come Dancing professional Artem Chigvintsev, Shameless actress Tina Malone and Ibiza Weekender’s David Potts.

As well as comedienne Crissy Rock, football pundit Paul Merson, Paralympian Kadeen and champion boxer Charlie Edwards.

The show follows the ten celebrities as they learn what it takes to be real-life farmers over a ten day period.

They have to complete tasks such as tending to the animals and mucking out manure on Lunsford Farm in West Sussex.

‘I didn’t milk a cow but I did a lot of things like catching a chicken,’ Arg replied.

Priya O’Shea is hoping to bake up a storm in the tent (Picture: Channel 4)

Fire up those ovens, sharpen those innuendoes and try and avoid those dreaded soggy bottoms – because The Great British Bake Off is back for its 2019 series.

Over the next 10 weeks Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding will be presiding over this year’s hopefuls as they attempt to impress Paul and Prue with their culinary creations – and hopefully avoid any baking disasters – in their bid to be crowned this year’s series champion.

Among those hoping to cause a stir in the tent is Priya O’Shea.

Here’s what you need to know about her.

How old is Bake Off’s Priya O’Shea and where is she from?

Priya is 34 years old and is from Leicester.

She has always had a passion for baking – having even been part of a baking club in primary school – but her passion for baking really came to the fore after her mother-in-law bought her a kitchen mixer as a wedding present. ‘I completely fell in love with it and it motivated me to start baking things I’d never made before,’ she explained.

Priya is particularly fond of experimenting with tropical, fruity flavours, as well as vegan baking. So expect her to dish up a few surprises in the tent.

What is Priya O’Shea’s day job?

A group shot of The Great British Bake Off 2019 contestants
Priya’s one of 13 new arrivals in the Bake Off tent (Picture: Channel 4)

Priya works as a freelance marketing consultant although she has also revealed she is working on her first novel.

What has she said about joining Bake Off?

Priya applied for the show in the wake of suggestions from family and friends that she should give it a go. ‘So many of my friends and family made comments in the past that I should apply for Bake Off,’ she said.

‘When the link came up at the end of one of the episodes I finally thought right, I’m going to do it this time! I got as far as downloading it in 2012 but I didn’t end up submitting it as I thought I’d never get on!’

When is The Great British Bake Off on?

The series kicks off on Channel 4 on Tuesday night at 8pm.

Strictly Come Dancing made its first stride into 2019 yesterday with the filming of its official launch event – but one of the prospective stars of the upcoming new series was missing out on all the fun.

Singer and famed RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage was a notable absentee from proceedings, and the only one of the 15 contestants for 2019 who missed out as filming took place at Television Centre in London.

We’re sure that Michelle wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on the first sequin-y display of the new series by choice.

And, according to reports, she was actually forced to miss the launch party due to existing filming commitments in the US.

‘Michelle really wanted to make it to the launch, but sadly a clash of filming commitments meant she is still back in America and couldn’t get back to the UK in time,’ a source told The Sun.

‘She’ll be missed.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps of both Michelle and the BBC for further comment.

The glitzy launch party appeared to otherwise go off without a hitch as Strictly fans got their first-look at the show’s latest judging panel.

Motsi Mabuse is of course stepping into Dame Darcey Bussell’s chair for the next Strictly series, joining Craig Revel Horwood, head judge Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli on the panel.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One on 7 September.
