Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’ Paul Potts visibly gutted as he fails to make top three

BGT opera legend Paul Potts looks understandably gutted after failing to make the final on tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions.

The opera singer returned to the Got Talent franchise for the third time in his life to show off his vocals once again – after flying to the US to compete against Susan Boyle in America’s Got Talent earlier this year.

After getting off to a bit of a shaky start, the 48-year-old reminded us all why we crowned him the first winner of the first ever BGT, being joined by an orchestra.

Smashing it out of the park to rapturous applause and a standing ovation, David Walliams declared: ‘Wouldn’t it be the best thing that you didn’t just win 12 years ago, [but] you won Champions as well.’

Causing a laugh as he admitted he found the whole experience nerve-wracking even now, he added: ‘You need them [nerves], but it’s horrible!’

Amanda added that he was still the ‘sweet and unassuming he was’ even after all these years.

But unfortunately, the savage new voting system wasn’t in the star’s favour, and he was visibly gutted and teary-eyed as it dawned on him he hadn’t made the top three.

Even Simon’s jaw dropped to the floor, and Amanda’s microphone caught her declaring in shock: ‘What about Paul Potts?’

Despite the loss, he’s still one of our faves.

BGT: Champions was the first series of the franchise in the UK that has been fully pre-recorded, and as a result, couldn’t have a live public vote via the app as usual.

Instead, to determine the two acts through to the next round, the audience at Wembley Arena were able to vote for their favourite acts instead.

On top of that, only one judge a week got a golden buzzer – with this week Amanda Holden getting her shot and sending someone straight through to the final.

Ukraine’s Got Talent star Kseniya Simonova earned Amanda’s automatic ticket to the final with her heartbreaking performance and artistry, telling the story of a cancer survivor using sand drawings.

Then Daredevil duo Bello and Annaliese Nock from America’s Got Talent earned the audience vote after stunning them with their panic-inducing routine on a 50ft ‘wheel of death’ without a safety net.

Britain’s Got Talent continues Saturday from 8pm on ITV.

Kseniya Simonova became the first act on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions to earn the coveted golden buzzer, but she has a long history with the show.

The 34-year-old sand artist was showered with confetti after earning judge Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer, sending her straight through to the final.

Her journey to The Champions began after she won Ukraine’s Got Talent in 2009, where she performed a different sand story about the effects of the Second World War on the country.

After winning the show, Kseniya competed in America’s Got Talent: The Champions earlier this year, where she finished in third place after reaching the finals.

But will she go all the way on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions? We’ll have to wait and see.

The first show saw Kseniya and comic daredevils Bello and Annaliese Nock make it through to the final show, with the latter from America’s Got Talent.

This means it was a total wipe out of Britain’s Got Talent acts, with Paul Potts, Boogie Storm, Connie Talbot, and Ashley and Sully, failing to make it through.

The first round of Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions didn’t end well for the home turf, with no acts from BGT making it through to the final.

In the first show of the series, BGT acts Paul Potts, Boogie Storm, Connie Talbot, and Ashley and Sully, went up against a number of international acts from the ‘From Talent’ series overseas.

Despite their best efforts, all four acts failed to make it through to the final – being pipped by Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer act Kseniya Simonova, who won Ukraine’s Got Talent, and comic daredevils Bello and Annaliese Nock from America’s Got Talent.

Other knocked out acts include The Nelson Twins from Australia, Bad Salsa from India’s Got Talent, and The Sacred Riana from Asia’s Got Talent.

There’s still hope for Britain yet in future shows, with the likes of Stavros Flatley, Jai McDowall, Collabro, Lost Voice Guy and more set to compete.

Elsewhere in the show, Ashleigh Butler returned with new dog Sully following the death of her pooch Pudsey who helped her originally bag the £250,000 cash prize in 2012.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions is set to run for six weeks, with the final expected to take place on 5 October.

The Nelson Twins shocked as Paul Potts gets knocked out of Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions

The Nelson Twins weren’t expecting to be knocked out from Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions alongside Paul Potts during last night’s first episode.

Although the 37-year-old Australian twins were confident they wouldn’t sail through to the final, they believed the iconic singer stood a fair chance and would fight off the competition.

Talking to Metro.co.uk about the results, Justin said: ‘[We’re] most definitely [shocked]. Paul is a crowd favourite over here. There are so many talented acts competing, it’s a tough competition.’

The show’s new voting system means that the traditional BGT public vote is no more. Instead, the audience at Wembley Arena determined who got through and voted for their favourite acts.

On top of that, only one judge each week gets to use their golden buzzer, with Amanda Holden taking the reins yesterday.

The Nelson Twins, who reckon Prince Philip would be okay with their risque one-liners, didn’t think that they’d survive the first round.

‘I’ve been working with my untalented brother for 13 years, I was expecting to be knocked out in the first round,’ Justin told us.

Daredevils Bello and Annaliese were sent through to the next stage while Kseniya Simonova received the golden buzzer and a ticket to the final.

‘Bello and Annaliese are amazing,’ Justin added. ‘They have more courage then most, I think they will win.

‘They have no regard for their own safety. I can’t get my kid to go down a slide, Bello has his hanging off the roof.’

Indonesian magician and illusionist The Sacred Riana was eliminated alongside Connie Talbot, Bad Salsa, Paul and The Nelson Twins, with Boogie Storm knocked out in second place and Ashleigh & Sully in third.

Series two winner George Sampson, series 10 winner Richard Jones and series 12 winner Lost Voice Guy are yet to take to the stage.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions continues Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV.

Britain’s Got Talent The Champions has kicked off on ITV, with some of BGT’s best-loved acts competing against winners and finalists from Got Talents from around the world.

Saturday night’s show saw the likes of Paul Potts, Connie Talbot, Ashleigh and Sully and Boogie Storm take to the stage alongside acts from Ukraine, Australia and Indonesia, among others.

But which two made it through to the final – giving them a chance of being crowned ultimate champion?

Here’s what you need to know…

Who went through on Britain’s Got Talent The Champions last night?

Each show will see two acts make it through to the final – one by Golden Buzzer, and one voted for by a panel of Britain’s Got Talent superfans.

And on Saturday night it was the overseas acts who triumphed over the homegrown performers, with sand artist Kseniya Simonova – a former winner of Ukraine’s Got Talent – nabbing Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer.

Her emotional performance, dedicated to the sick children that she works with, left Amanda in tears as she told her: ‘Your sort of quiet skill requires no language, no nothing. This is the champion of champions, with all nationalities, we’re going across the world, your performance, nothing needed explaining, you did it all with just sand.’

Simon Cowell revealed he had almost hit the Golden Buzzer for Kseniya after being moved by her performance.

Meanwhile the second place in the final was nabbed by daredevil duo Bello and Annaliese Nock, who previously appeared on America’s Got Talent.

The pair found themselves in the top three along with two veterans of BGT – Ashleigh and Sully and Boogie Storm – but ultimately beat the pair of them to the coveted final spot.

Both acts will return later in the series in their bid to be crowed ultimate Got Talent champion.

Who else appeared on Saturday night?

Saturday night’s show also featured Paul Potts, Connie Talbot, Australian comedy duo The Nelson Twins, creepy magician The Sacred Riana – a former winner of Asia’s Got Talent – and and Indian dance act Bad Salsa.

Britain’s Got Talent The Champions continues on ITV next Saturday night.

Craig Revel Horwood apologises to Stacey Dooley after suggesting Strictly contestants ‘sleep with dance partners’

Craig has apologised following comments about Kevin and Stacey

Following his ‘hurtful’ comments on Strictly Come Dancing couple and 2018 winners Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton, judge Craig Revel Horwood has been forced to apologise.

It’s said during a taping of the dance programme on Saturday night the infamously harsh judge suggested dancers ‘sleep with their partners’, following Stacey and Kevin’s relationship post-win.

The 54-year-old has now admitted he made a ‘huge error’ in his quip and regretted the jibe.

‘I’m deeply sorry for the offence caused to Kevin and Stacey and everyone who works on the show,’ he said, according to The Sun.

‘I recognise that what I said was hurtful, cruel and incredibly disrespectful. It was a huge error of judgment that I very much regret.’

His apology came after he was asked by host Tess Daly what this year’s contestants can emulate in Stacey and Kevin, who reportedly performed a dance as last year’s reigning champs.

Initially saying everyone should be inspired by the 32-year-old journalist, he’s said to have added: ‘Stacey was dragged up from the dance gutter… of course, if you sleep with your dance partner that helps.’

According to the publication, filming was halted and aides rushed over to Stacey, who was sitting in their audience with her family.

It’s suggested producers decided to cut the offending footage from the final episode, which is due to be aired next weekend as Strictly takes to BBC One for another year of glitter and toe-tapping.

A source said of the situation: ‘It was an awful moment. Craig was obviously trying to be funny, but realised as soon as he said it that he had gone too far.

‘The audience was visibly shocked, as was Tess Daly and the other judges.

‘Immediately after he made the comment, “cut” was called, and chaos broke out.’

They added: ‘Several aides rushed over to Stacey and her family to check if they were OK. They were all stunned, and Stacey’s mum obviously wasn’t OK at all.’

He was ‘more than happy’ to make an apology to Kevin and Stacey, who have formed a romantic relationship following their glitterball win.

The two have remained remarkably tight-lipped about their union – which was mired in controversy after Stacey’s long-term boyfriend Sam Tucknott spoke out about his ex – however Stacey shed light on their ‘amazing’ relationship recently.

‘Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy,’ the documentary maker told The Guardian about Kevin, 36, in July.

‘That’s why we’ve turned down interviews that have offered us tens of thousands of pounds.

‘What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky.’

Mayim Bialik has shared an inspiring love letter for young women in her latest vlog and honestly, we feel like we can now take the world by storm.

The actress, who played the infamous Amy in The Big Bang Theory, posted the motivational video to her YouTube channel and it’s so far been watched by over 44,000 people.

‘I’m giving a shoutout to all the amazing women changing the world today, so here it goes,’ Mayim began. ‘Hey, you know who you are, you amazing young women changing the world – and I love you.

‘And I love you even when I don’t always agree with you because I am your sister. I love you as a sister in this struggle against a world trying to understand who we are, what we need, what we don’t need, what we tolerate and what we expect.’

She continued: ‘You are politicians in bold lipstick preaching about the struggle of the working class.

‘You are students on campuses all over the world, fighting for your rights as evolving future teachers, scientists, doctors. You are mums, unafraid to share the details of your birth story, your breastfeeding stories and your post-partum depression.

‘You are activists, fighting for mental health protection for us all. You are on YouTube and on Instagram expressing yourselves, expressing your sexual selves, teaching women like me what it means to be confident in your sexuality.

‘You are transgender, you’re non-binary, queer, theys, thems, everywhere and anywhere being everything that you were meant to be.’

Mayim went on to admit that despite loving young women, she envies them because of their fearlessness, resilience, ownership, sexuality.

‘Why are these things so shocking to women of my generation?’ Mayim asked. ‘Well you see modern ladies, we didn’t have them the same way you do. We straddled the generation of women who often feared men and your generation.

‘Women of my generation were kind of figuring it out as we went. You actually feel entitled to being respected, like woah imagine that. It’s crazy and awesome.’

Viewers appreciated Mayim’s vlog and wasted no time in dishing out compliments, with one writing: ‘I loveeeeee your content. I appreciate the way you bring intelligent and complex subjects in such funny and interesting form. Great job.’

‘Every generation of women has and had the previous generations of women to thank for their strength and courage,’ added another.

Mayim began her YouTube channel three years ago and has covered a broad range of topics including living with social anxiety to explaining why online dating is bad for us.

Last month, she set the record straight and insisted that she isn’t unemployed after the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory and revealed that she is now a stay-at-home mum to her two sons.

Game Of Thrones’ David Benioff and DB Weiss break silence on infamous coffee cup scene

Game Of Thrones creators David Benioff and DB Weiss have finally broken their silence on the infamous coffee cup scene in the show’s season eight episode, The Last Of The Starks.

A particular scene in the fourth episode of the HBO series’ final season in which a coffee cup had been left in shot had divided viewers, and now the series’ creators have joked that when it comes to Persian rugs, it is ‘tradition’ to ‘make a mistake’.

Speaking to Japan’s Star Channel, David said: ‘I think in Persian rugs it’s tradition that you make a little mistake when making the rug, because only God can do anything perfect, so for us I guess that just was our mistake.’

‘That’s why I put the coffee cup there,’ Dan (DB) replied.

‘Conscious, concerted statement of our imperfection.’

David later went on to reveal the real reason why the cup was left there: the crew was so focused on Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) that they completely forgot it was there.

He also admitted that at first it was an ‘embarrassment’, but then he later found it ‘funny’ that this had happened.

‘So, at first I couldn’t believe it, and then it was embarrassment; “how did we not see this coffee cup in the middle of the shot?”‘ he revealed.

The Starbucks cup scene from Game of Thrones
It was in this scene that a takeaway cup had been left in shot (Picture: HBO)

‘And then, eventually, it was just funny. This one is just a mistake, and it’s kind of funny to us now.’

DB also admitted that it was ‘surprising’ to hear the show’s final season had received 32 Emmy nominations at the 71st ceremony, despite the fact that the season had received a mixed response from critics and fans.

‘It was kind of surprising? At least in my mind, I thought that the previous season would have been the peak and that we would’ve ended up with maybe a couple less, at best,’ he admitted.

He added: ‘I felt very happy for all of our team of people, all of the actors and all of the crew who got recognised. Each made us feel really proud of them and happy for them, because we know first-hand how hard they worked; we saw it every day for many years.’

Seasons 1-8 of Game Of Thrones are available to stream on NOW TV.

Netflix shook The Dark Crystal fanbase when they announced the stellar cast for the prequel to the original film, The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance.

And while the world of Thra has been crafted by artists and inhabited with puppeteers, it sounds as though there was just as much action in the studio as there was on set.

Yes, when recording the voice of the adorable Gelfling Deet, who is of the Grottan clan, Nathalie Emmanuel opened up on what went down behind the scenes in order to capture the energy of what was happening on screen.

Talking to Metro.co.uk, the Game Of Thrones actress explained: ‘On the occasions when Deet was in a situation where she was being manhandled, or struggling, or falling there was a guy that would happily come and shake you.

She laughed: ‘His name is Tim, I think, and he would be like, “okay I’m going to shake you.”’

But it seems the technique worked as the 30-year-old added: ‘It would change your voice physically.’

There were other methods Nathalie used in order to get in the zone of bringing the puppet to life, and would jump up and down before takes.

‘In some way,’ she beamed: ‘You had to jump up and down to get yourself in a certain energy in order to get ready for scenes like that.’

Hannah John-Kamen, who plays the warrior Naia, chimed in: ‘There was a time limit on how much you could scream because obviously, you’d lose your voice.

‘But that’s the fun side of doing stuff like this.’

She joked: ‘The number of times my microphone would fall off because I was going crazy.’

The pair starred in Game Of Thrones together and join Cersei Lannister actress Lena Headey, who takes on the role of Maudra Fara.

As well as this, Simon Pegg stars as Chamberlain alongside Mark Hamill as The Scientist, Taron Egerton as Rian, Jason Isaacs as The Emperor, Shazad Latif as Kylan, and so many other Hollywood giants.

The prequel follows three Gelflings Rian, Brea and Deet on their quest to stop The Darkening from taking over Thra.

The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance is available to stream on Netflix.

The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance could have been so much darker, according to Lisa Henson

The Dark Crystal has a reputation for being utterly terrifying in ways that you can’t take your eyes off the screen – like the Gelfling can’t take their eyes off the crystal when it’s draining them of their essence.

But despite it being disturbing on so many levels, it turns out the prequel could have got a whole lot more thrilling, and we are scared.

Who knows how traumatised we would be if it was aimed at adults!

When chatting to Metro.co.uk, the CEO and President of The Jim Henson Company, Lisa Henson, spoke about how they kept it child-friendly and cut out some seriously sinister scenes.

If you haven’t managed to binge-watch your way through the 10 part series yet, then be prepared for some spoilers below.

In the first three episodes, we watch The Scientist (played by Mark Hamill) try and win over The Emperor (played by Jason Isaacs) by coming up with a way of cheating death.

The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance
It’s already nightmare-inducing (Picture: Netflix)
The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance Lisa Henson
Lisa Henson explained how they filmed three versions of one gruesome scene (Picture: WireImage)

However, after being set up by Chamberlain (played by Simon Pegg) for letting the Gelfling hero Rian (played by Taron Egerton) escape the castle, The Scientist is punished by having his eyeball removed – and eaten – by a spider-like creature.

While we don’t actually see it happening, the screen fades to black with some pretty gruesome chewing, mushing, sloshing, sound effects playing in the background.

When we asked Lisa about the scene, she laughed: ‘We have three different cuts of that, and the mildest one is the one we used.

‘We have every different version of it.’

Is it strange that we want to watch them all?

The 59-year-old added: ‘Even if the show is scary or thrilling, we want to still keep it in the family viewing zone.’

Lisa was joined by Halle Stanford, the President of Television for the Jim Henson Company, who added: ‘I think children are very sophisticated and are used to the fairy-tale darkness.

‘I think that there are some moments that were like, “do we push the line?” But when I was a child, I watched faces melt on Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance
Could you imagine if the show was aimed at adults? (Picture: Netflix)
The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance
The Scientist has a funny look in his eye (Picture: Netflix)

‘I do think we have those moments, but I think kids and their families will understand that perhaps there are trying times in characters’ lives. So maybe we offer a road map.’

She smiled: ‘Let it be a conversation starter to let them talk to their children like, “what do we do when especially little people like the Gelfling aren’t being treated well?” Let’s get some meaningful conversations going.’

Discussing the messages behind the story, Halle added: ‘The prequel had been in the works for so long I feel like the universe did conspire with the messaging within the series…

‘That has a lot to do with speaking up, and telling the truth, and looking at when people in authority are maybe doing things that are questionable. It kind of came out at a perfect time.’

The Dark Crystal and its prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance are available to stream on Netflix.

A still from Season 5 Episode 2 of Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders has already squeezed a lot of drama into two episodes of season five (Picture: Robert Viglasky/BBC)

Peaky Blinders‘ fifth season got off to an explosive start on BBC One over the bank holiday weekend, as the Shelbys returned to our screens.

With the series having made the giant leap from BBC Two, the action has now come forward to 1929 as Tommy (Cillian Murphy) furthers his career in politics – and comes up against Fascist leader Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), who is keen for him to join his party.

And with the first two instalments having seen Mosley get right under the skin of the Shelby boys, the scene’s been set for some explosive drama to come.

The third episode airs on Sunday night – but what time should you tune in?

Here’s what you need to know…

What time is Peaky Blinders on BBC One on Sunday night?

Peaky Blinders episode three is on BBC One on Sunday night at 9pm.

The episode runs for an hour ahead of the BBC News at 10pm.

There are six episodes in the current series, with the remaining three set to air on Sundays for the next three weeks at the same time.

If you missed any episodes, you can catch up with them on BBC iPlayer.

What’s going to happen in episode three of Peaky Blinders?

With the first two episodes having already brought us tragedy, unexpected death, and a whole lot of politics and violence, the third episode sees Tommy gathering everybody together to discuss recent tragic events before the Shelbys head for London to meet Mosley.

Meanwhile Linda Shelby (Kate Phillips) seeks advice from Lizzie (Natasha O’Keeffe) about her situation, Polly (Helen McCrory) visits Aberama Gold (Aiden Gillen) with a message from Tommy, while he sends out an urgent mission after it transpires one of the Peaky Blinders is in danger.

Sounds like the drama isn’t letting up any time soon.

Jeremy Clarkson branded ‘wasted lifeline’ on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? after epic fail

Jeremy Clarkson has come under fire for failing to correctly answer a question on last night’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? despite knowing the answer.

The former Top Gear presenter, who has put his two-stone weight loss down to salads, was called in to assist the episode’s first contestant Sarah who got stuck on the question: ‘In which year did Concorde make its last commercial flight?’

After opting for the lifeline Ask The Host, Jeremy told Sarah that he haad indeed been a passenger onboard the supersonic airliner’s final journey.

‘I’m going to say 1998 but you’re relying on my maths which are notoriously awful,’ he said.

Feeling that Jezza wasn’t right, Sarah went on to use the 50:50 lifeline which eliminated his answer and led her to correctly guess 2003.

Luckily Sarah managed to get the answer right (Picture: ITV)

Naturally, viewers weren’t best pleased to hear Jeremy’s incorrect date and rushed to complain on Twitter, with one writing: ‘How could there be any more of a perfect person to ask than someone who was actually on the last ever Concorde flight…but nope. Jeremy had no idea when he took that historic flight.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another raged: ‘Is Jeremy Clarkson serious on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? He was on the ACTUAL flight and said 1998 and it was wrong!

‘Answer was 2003! How can you not remember something so historic and being on the actual flight?’

The Concorde, which traveled twice as fast as the speed of sound, was pulled out of service 16 years ago, with its final flight taking place on October 24, 2003.

Air France and British Airways blamed low passenger numbers and rising maintenance costs for ending the luxury vessel’s usage.

Among Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan on the last journey included model Jodie Kidd, Joan Collins, politician Tony Benn and Bernie Ecclestone.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? airs Saturdays at 9.30pm on ITV.

Judge Rinder admits to lying about ‘dreaming’ of making Blackpool week on Strictly

Judge Rinder has revealed that he lied about dreaming of getting to Blackpool week when he took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.

The barrister, real name Robert Rinder, notably took part in the BBC dancing series in 2016, and has now admitted that he ‘was swept up in the moment’ when he admitted at the beginning of the series that going to the English seaside town was ‘all he ever wanted’.

According to The Mirror, he revealed: ‘I have never, ever said something I didn’t mean on TV.’

But then he later backtracks: ‘Oh gosh, actually, I did once.

‘On the first day at Strictly, the lights were blinding my eyes, I was dazzled by the sequins, staring down the barrel of the camera giving an interview and for some reason I said, “My whole life, all I’ve ever wanted is to get to Blackpool.”’

And for those who don’t know, he and his partner, Oksana Platero, actually made it as far as the show’s Blackpool week, as they came fifth that series, being eliminated just before the semi-final.

Seems he might have been embellishing this dream of his, though.

The 41-year-old also admitted that taking part in Strictly allowed him to see the differences in the way men and women were treated.

‘As a male I was permitted to do the show and just have the most delightful time. No one commented on how much weight I’d lost, or asked if I was snogging my partner,’ he said.

‘I turned up on that Strictly launch show in a free suit I got for a wedding, which, by the way, I wear for every single TV appearance I’ve ever done.

‘Well no one has ever batted an eyelid at me wearing that suit for three years straight.

He later revealed how he told his celebrity pal Nadia Sawalha to ‘wear the same top two days in a row’ for Loose Women, and when she did, people were worried about her mental health, which Rinder referred to as ‘insane levels of gender privilege.’

The TV star also spoke about his experience on the show as he appeared on Loose Women, revealing he had a ‘totally different experience’ to most other contestants.

‘I had a totally different experience, and I think a lot of the guys do,’ he stated.

‘I was simply allowed to delight in the dancing, have the best time imaginable, because people weren’t commenting on what I look like, whether I was getting older.’

Strictly Come Dancing returns 6 September on BBC One.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions left everyone in shock last night as series one winner Paul Potts failed to make it through to the top three.

The legendary singer, who recently revealed he flipped a coin to decide whether he’d audition for the first-ever edition of the ITV show, was visibly anxious as he sang in front of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams – proving his incredible humility.

Paul later revealed that production changed the direction of the camera after 15 run-throughs which led to reports claiming that he blamed bosses for his ‘shaky’ ensemble.

However, the singer has now dismissed these stories and instead insists that he’s the only one at fault.

Addressing his fanbase on Twitter about his nerves, Paul wrote: ‘I blamed myself. I self analyse after every performance and I can pick out every error.

‘My job is to do everything I can to avoid slipping up due to these things including technical issues.’

Despite not making it through, Paul also acknowledged that there are no hard feelings and that he’d be up for returning in the future.

‘Thank you to everyone for your wishes,’ he said. ‘I hope you enjoyed my performance of the Godfather/Parla Piu piano.

‘I appreciate the start that BGT gave me and so I was happy to return to the show and will be happy to do so again.’ What a gracious hero!

Yesterday’s show saw Kseniya Simonova become the first act on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions to earn the coveted golden buzzer, with comic daredevils Bello and Annaliese Nock also making it through to the finals.

Sadly it was a total wipeout for Boogie Storm, Connie Talbot, and Ashley and Sully, Bad Salsa, The Nelson Twins and The Sacred Riana failing to make it through.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions continues Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV.

Stacey Dooley has admitted that polyamory isn’t for her and that she would get ‘jealous’ seeing her boyfriend Kevin Clifton with another woman.

The Strictly Come Dancing champion, who received an apology from Craig Revel Horwood after he suggested that the show’s contestants ‘sleep with their dance partners’, discussed her new series Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over and the practice of having intimate relationships with more than one partner on Sunday Brunch.

As presenter Tim Lovejoy quipped that polyamory isn’t something he’d be up for, Stacey added: ‘It’s not for me.’

Recalling shooting her documentary, she added: ‘What really took me by surprise was when we were all on the sofa and the husband and wife – obviously married and they’ve got a little boy, and then the girlfriend comes in and out.

‘I saw the husband [stroking the girlfriend’s arm] really lovingly and the wife was looking on like, ‘Oh I’m so made up they’ve got this connection’, and I just find that really hard to comprehend.

‘I think I’d be jealous.’

When asked whether she’d be interested in opening her relationship, Stacey replied: ‘I think it works for them I don’t think it’s a front.

‘Could I? Not in a million years. I’d be terrible, I’d be sliding down the walls. No, just the one for me.’

Stacey and Kevin confirmed their romance shortly after taking the glitterball trophy last December.

Back in July, Stacey gave a rare insight into her lucky-in-love life, explaining to the Guardian: ‘Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy.

‘That’s why we’ve turned down interviews that have offered us tens of thousands of pounds. What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky.’

Sunday Brunch airs Sundays at 10am on Channel 4.

Star Trek: Picard finishes production as we inch closer to Patrick Stewart’s return

Star Trek: Picard has officially finished filming meaning we’re inching ever closer to seeing Patrick Stewart return to the franchise as Jean-Luc Picard.

According to screenwriter Michael Chabon, the CBS series wrapped things up yesterday and all that is left to do is ‘months of post-production.’

‘That’s a shooting wrap on Season One of #startrekpicard,’ Michael wrote on Instagram. ‘There have been so many incredible moments, so many life and career high points, but for a 45-plus-year #startrek fan, visiting the sacred Gorn-haunted grounds of #Arena was a peak.’

Visual effects supervisor Ante Dekovic also shared the joyous news, confirming: ‘That’s a wrap on Star Trek: Picard!!! At least the filming part.

‘All is left, months of post-production. Thanks @startrekcbs @michael.chabon, Akiva, @alexkurtzmanofficial and of course @sirpatstew for the experience.

‘Also a big thank you to everybody who helped us on set with the VFX. Even that for most of the time, it was hard to imagine or understand the things that we do.’

Ante added: ‘Can’t wait for the world to watch the show and get their minds blown!’

CBS released the first trailer for Star Trek: Picard back in May, giving fans a sneaky glimpse at Patrick as an ominous voice questions why he left Starfleet.

The voice says: ’15 years ago today, you led us out of the darkness. You commanded the greatest rescue armada in history, then the unimaginable.

‘What did that cost you? Your faith. Your faith in us. Your faith in yourself. Tell us, why did you leave Starfleet Admiral?’

The new series picks up 18 years after the events of Nemesis, where Picard has left Starfleet to live out life on his famous vineyard surrounded by peace, grapes and wine.

Speaking of his character’s revival, Patrick said: ‘He may not be a captain anymore. He may not be the Jean-Luc you recognise and know so well. It may be a very different individual, someone who has been changed by his experiences.’

He added: ‘It will be something, I guarantee it, something very, very different.’

Star Trek: Picard will air on CBS: All Access in the US and Amazon Prime Video in the UK later this year.

Untouchable: The Rise and Fall of Harvey Weinstein takes a look at the allegations against the mogul (Picture: BBC)

Disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein comes under the spotlight on Sunday night as BBC Two airs the documentary Untouchable: The Rise and Fall Of Harvey Weinstein.

The film, which was screened at Sundance earlier this year, looks at the rise and fall of Weinstein following the 2017 article in The New York Times which led more than 60 women to accuse him of sexual harrassment and/or assault.

It’s set to be sobering viewing, but what time is it on and what can you expect?

Here’s what you need to know.

What time is Untouchable: The Rise and Fall Of Harvey Weinstein on BBC Two?

The documentary is on BBC Two on Sunday night at 9pm.

It runs for one hour and 35 minutes ahead of Live At The Apollo at 10.35.

What can you expect from Untouchable?

The film will follow Weinstein’s career from his early days as a music promoter to his time in charge of the movie company Miramax, which he ran with brother Bob Weinstein.

Miramax was responsible for some of the most critically acclaimed cinema hits of the 90s, including Oscar winners The English Patient, Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting and Shakespeare In Love.

However Weinstein is now awaiting trial on five charges of sexual assault, while many other women have made claims against the producer – which he has vehemently denied.

The allegations, from actresses including Scream star Rose MacGowan and The Sopranos’ Annabella Sciorra – who will testify in Weinstein’s upcoming trial – were the catalyst for what became known as the #Metoo movement.

Who appears in the documentary?

Rosanna Arquette in Untouchable: The Rise and Fall of Harvey Weinstein

Several of those who have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault will be featured in the documentary.

Among those who appear are Erika Rosenbaum, Paz de la Huerta and Rosanna Arquette – who has recently spoken out about the effect she believes her encounter with Weinstein had on her career.

When is Harvey Weinstein due to go on trial?

Weinstein is due to go on trial in January 2020.

The trial had previously been due to begin this month, but has been pushed back in the wake of him pleading not guilty to fresh indictment charges last week.

Nicole Scherzinger laughs off shady Australia’s Got Talent dig as she’s accused of ‘forgetting’ Pussycat Dolls members

Nicole Scherzinger ended up having an awkward moment on Australia’s Got Talent, thanks to a pretty savage dig about her former girl group The Pussycat Dolls.

Nicole was joined by guest judge Hans, who has also appeared on America’s Got Talent, in the latest episode.

He made a cheeky joke about Nicole not knowing the names of the other members of the group.

While Scherzy laughed it off (she was on camera after all), it she seemed to feel the awkwardness after the joke just as much as viewers.

Hans, dressed in a fabulous outfit, performed Pussycat Dolls classic Don’t Cha before taking his place at the judges’ table with Nicole.

Referring to ex-Pussycat Dolls Carmit Bachar and Melody Thornton, Hans asked her: ‘Was I at least as good as Carmit or Melody? Or one of those other people you don’t remember the names of?’

Nicole Scherzinger on Australia's Got Talent
Nicole laughed off the cheeky joke (Picture: Seven)

The X Factor judge didn’t reply and tried to shrug off the mischievous barb with a laugh before presenter Ricki-Lee moved the show on.

The Pussycat Dolls were active from 1995, starting out as a dance troupe in the 90s then forming a band in 2003 until 2010.

Australia’s Got Talent has been an emotional journey for Nicole, with a rapper and a didgeridoo player reducing her to tears in the audition stages.

Now it’s semi-finals week and Hans joked he had been sent over by Simon Cowell to ‘keep an eye on’ judges Nicole, Shane Jacobson, Lucy Durack and Mani Feildel.

Singer Jennifer Anderson caught Hans’ eye in semi-final, prompting Hans to hand out his golden buzzer and send her straight through to that all important final.

Australia’s Got Talent airs on Seven Network in Australia.

Where is Sanditon filmed? All the locations from ITV’s Jane Austen drama

Rose Williams as Charlotte Heywood in Sanditon
Sanditon has some pretty picturesque settings (Picture: ITV)

ITV’s Jane Austen adaptation Sanditon got underway last week, bringing the author’s unfinished final novel to the screen courtesy of Pride and Prejudice’s Andrew Davies.

The series stars newcomer Rose Williams as unconventional Austen heroine Charlotte Heywood, and her relationship with love interest Sidney Parker (Theo James) after she moves to the titular fishing village which wants to become a seaside resort.

With the action stretching from the beach all the way to the West Indies, there’s certainly scope for some pretty picturesque settings – but just where was the series filmed?

Here’s what you need to know about Sanditon’s locations.

Where is Sanditon filmed?

Sanditon, the town in question, is actually a fictional place inspired by the seaside resorts which were becoming increasingly popular at the time Austen penned the novel.

However the seaside scenes were filmed on the west coast of the country – with Brean Beach in Somerset being used to recreate the 19th Century seaside resort.

The makers had to recreate a seaside resort, 19th Century style (Picture: ITV)

Breach Beach, which stretches for seven miles along the coast, is 20 miles from nearby Clevedon, where much of the action was filmed – with a mix of specially built sets and CGI used to transform the settings into something more appropriate to the era.

Speaking to the Radio Times director Olly Blackburn explained: ‘It was all filmed on the West Coast near Bristol, because there isn’t an existing seaside resort left that isn’t full of Boots and car parks and stuff.’

Other scenes were filmed at Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios, where sets were used to create the actual town of Sanditon, as well as the scenes which take place in London and the interiors of Lady Denham (Anne Reid)’s house.

Theo James and Rose Williams in a scene from Sanditon
Much of the action was shot on a purpose built set at Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios (Picture: ITV)

Meanwhile parts of Weston-Super-Mare – just up the road from Bristol – were also used for filming, along with the nearby village of Uphill.

And if you want to see Lady Denham’s house for yourself then get along to Dyrham Park near Bristol and Bath, which was used for the exterior shots.

The stately home is a National Trust property, and both the interior and the grounds are open to the public – for opening times check the official website.

How many episodes are there in Sanditon?

There are eight episodes in the series, with the second due to air on ITV on Sunday night.

The remaining episodes will air for the next six weeks on Sunday, while you can catch up with any you’ve missed on the ITV Hub.

When is Sanditon on?

The series continues on ITV on Sunday night at 9pm.
