Grand Designs house in peril as it’s built by 100ft cliff drop

A Grand Designs house situated on a cliff edge was in peril on last night’s episode as builders battled the wind and rain as they got to work.

The construction of Andy Stakes and Jeanette Hardy’s dream home in Galloway, Scotland, was at risk of ending in disaster as extreme conditions wreaked havoc as the team attempted putting the roof on.

‘We’ve found ourselves trying to put the roof on today in the middle of August, with a forceful gale blowing in our faces,’ Andy began. ‘It’s been raining all day and it’s been a real problem.’

As the weather began to worsen, he told the cameras: ‘You can see all that dark in the sky over there and when that hits, the wind is going to go from 20mph up to 40 or 50 mph.

‘It’s going to hit us in the next two minutes so I think we need to abandon this decision and get downstairs.’

The crew then turned to install the glass as the elements continued to cause chaos, with one builder explaining that the wind could cause an accident.

‘If the wind catches one of these pieces of glass then they’re going to the hospital,’ he said.

The windows, which came up to an eye-watering cost of £38,000, acted like sails as the lads carried them through the construction site.

Luckily the team managed to come out on top and the panes were put in without any casualties.

By the end of the episode, Andy and Jeanette’s project had been completed having spent £420,000 in total.

‘Everything we’ve spent on it was well spent,’ said Jeanette. ‘This house was never part of the grand plan. This just came long and neither of us could resist it.

‘Because I was travelling so much I don’t think I ever really fully understood how spectacular this place was going to be.

‘It’s just amazing, it’s fantastic. I don’t see any reason to be anywhere else.’

Grand Designs airs Wednesday at 9pm on Channel 4.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are celebrating 10 years of being on This Morning together (Picture: ITV)

It’s a big day for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first time they hosted This Morning together.

Yup, 5 September marks 10 years to the day that Holly first went before the cameras with Phillip on the show, kicking off a decade that’s given us some seriously classic moments of telly.

From that NTAs hangover special through to some interviews that have been memorable for all the wrong reasons – and not to mention all those moments when the pair of them had hysterics live on air – it’s been a hell of a decade.

And of course the pair of them have also become household names – with pretty decent salaries to boot.

So just how much are daytime TV’s most famous duo worth? Here’s what you need to know…

What is Phillip Schofield’s net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Phillip Schofield has an estimated net worth of £9.8m.

Phillip’s become one of the most recognisable faces on TV over the past couple of decades, having been at the helm of This Morning since 2002.

His initial rise to stardom came with the BBC, firstly as the first ever in-vision presenter of Children’s BBC in the late 80s, then as the co-host of Saturday morning kids’ TV show Going Live!

He went on to front National Lottery Winning Lines and Test The Nation with Anne Robinson before moving to ITV in 2002.

And of course This Morning isn’t the only show he hosts with Holly as the pair also co-present Dancing On Ice – while he’s presented other ITV shows including The Cube, All Star Mr And Mrs, Text Santa, You’re Back In The Room, Five Gold Rings and The British Soap Awards.

What is Holly Willoughby’s net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Holly Willoughby has an estimated net worth of £6.5m.

Holly began her career as a model before moving into children’s TV on the show S Club TV – going on to front other kids’ shows including Ministry Of Mayhem, CD:UK and Holly & Stephen’s Saturday Showdown (with Stephen Mulhern), as well as X-Perimental and CBBC At The Fame Academy for CBBC.

Holly joined Dancing On Ice alongside Phillip Schofield in 2006, and also hosted The XTra Factor in 2008 and 2009 – before she joined Phillip on This Morning.

She’s also known on the small screen as a team captain on Celebrity Juice and has also co-hosted Text Santa, as well as fronting the first two series of The Voice UK.

Holly’s also a published author, having co-penned the children’s book series School For Stars – with the first title, First Term At L’Etoile being the biggest -selling children’s book of 2013.

She stepped in to the breach to co-host I’m A Celebrity in 2018 alongside Dec Donnelly, and has also put her name to a series of clothing ranges for Marks and Spencer known as Holly’s Must-Haves.

What are Phillip and Holly’s This Morning salaries?

The exact salaries of the pair have not been revealed, but it’s been previously reported that Phillip is on £600,000 for hosting the show while Holly was previously on £400,000.

However it was reported in 2017 that Holly had been given a £200,000 pay rise and was now on the same salary as her co-host.

The pair are also said to earn the same wage for their work on Dancing On Ice, although their salary for that show has not been disclosed.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris Ramsey reveals brutal audition process to join cast: ‘It’s like a movie’

Strictly Come Dancing kicks off this weekend, officially marking the end of the summer and welcoming in the stellar new line-up. But it turns out getting to the dancefloor in the first place is actually way more brutal than we realised.

Among the latest Strictly cast hoping to lift the Glitterball trophy come Christmas is Chris Ramsey, who appeared on Lorraine today revealing the audition process is just like a movie, and you have to earn your place in the contest way before you’ve even donned a single sequin.

‘I’d never considered doing it,’ Chris admitted to Lorraine Kelly. They said, “Do you want to come for a chat?” And I thought, “Yeah, I could be up for it.”

‘You go for a practise dance – imagine an audition for a film or something – so you go and have a dance, the execs are there watching you. I’m not joking, I left and I phoned my management and said, “Get me on this show.” I really wanted to do it.’

Chris is happily married to Rosie Winter, who is also his co-star on their podcast together, Sh*gged Married Annoyed – which, FYI, is currently the number one podcast in the country.

Naturally, Lorraine grilled Chris about the curse, which, whatever the stars say, rears its ugly head every single year.

Turns out it’s harder to get on Strictly Come Dancing than we thought (Picture: PA)

‘We’ve joked about the curse completely,’ he grinned. ‘Everyone says about the Strictly curse, but we’ve been together for seven years been married for five – more importantly, we’ve got the top podcast n the UK so if you think we’re jeopardising that!’

Last weekend Chris discovered who he’d be waltzing through the winter months with, and this Saturday we’ll find out the full couplings at the Strictly launch.

While the comedian wasn’t giving anything away, he did admit his professional partner is piling on the pressure to look like a beef cake.

Strictly Come Dancing launches this Saturday at 7.20pm on BBC One.

Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid switches see-through dress over wardrobe malfunction fears

Susanna Reid decided to change outfits just minutes before Good Morning Britain went live on ITV over fears she’d give viewers a bit more than they bargained for.

The 48-year-old presenter, who revealed on the show that she wasn’t a fan of Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood’s organ innuendo, expressed that she was worried her original frock was ‘a little transparent’ so made a quick swap.

Impressed co-host Ben Shephard spilled that Susanna took just 120 seconds to get out of her red leopard print number and into a blue alternative, telling his followers on Twitter: ‘Now that’s what you call a quick change!! Two mins between these pics – no messing around with @susannareid100.’

‘Just before 6am I thought the red dress was a little transparent,’ Susanna replied with a facepalm emoji.

Ben also treated his fanbase to a behind-the-scenes video showing himself, Susanna, Kate Garraway and Richard Arnold getting ready on-set before the cameras began to roll.

While Richard glossed over his notes, a make-up artist applied a bit of powder to Susanna’s face as a hairstylist tended to her locks.

Susanna was seen sporting the original red dress as her glam squad, but in the next clip, she was sat looking pretty in a brand new ensemble.

Now there’s a skill.

Pointing out the change, Ben said: ‘Two minutes ago I’m sure you were in a different outfit.’

‘Could have done a couple of wardrobe changes in the three minutes before airtime,’ Susanna sassed.

Susanna returned to the Good Morning Britain helm on Monday alongside Piers Morgan, following a long summer off our screens.

Their comeback has been nothing short of dramatic, with Piers launching into a seething rant about Meghan Markle being a ‘woke princess’ just yesterday.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are marking a pretty special anniversary on Thursday, as it’s 10 years to the day that they first presented This Morning together.

The pair have given daytime TV viewers a whole lot of entertainment over the past decade, from their hungover post-NTA appearances through to their inability to keep a straight face in certain situations – and they’re hoping that it’ll last for a while yet.

‘I hope it continues to be in people’s front room for the next ten years. I hope it continues to grow, I feel that’s a real strength of the show,’ she said.

‘It’s always adapting and changing, so I think as long as it continues to do that and know when it’s serious and know when its not taking itself too seriously, there’s no reason why it can’t be around for another ten years, or another twenty.’

Of course it’s not the only show Phil and Holly have fronted together – so what else have they co-hosted?

Here’s what you need to know…

What other shows have Holly and Phil presented together?

As well as This Morning, Holly and Phillip’s other main co-presenting job is on Dancing On Ice.

The pair were brought together on TV for the first time when the celebrity skating series launched in 2006.

Holly left after the 2011 series and was replaced by Christine Lampard until 2014, when the show originally came to an end.

However it was revived in 2018 by ITV, and Holly returned as co-host with Phillip.

They also hosted the 2019 series together and will be back as presenters when the show returns for its 2020 series.

As well as Dancing On Ice the pair have also presented several editions of Christmas show Text Santa together.

The pair fronted the charity telethon in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

What shows have Holly and Phillip hosted separately since This Morning began?

Phillip is a very familiar face on ITV. hosting a whole string of shows aside from This Morning.

He’s also fronted game shows including All Star Mr and Mrs – with his former This Morning co-host Fern Britton – as well as The Cube, You’re Back In The Room and 5 Gold Rings.

Phillip has hosted The British Soap Awards since 2006, as well as fronting A Night Of Heroes: The Sun Military Awards with Amanda Holden from 2009 until 2014.

He was also, along with Julie Etchingham, part of the team who hosted ITV’s coverage of the Royal Wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011, as well as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee coverage in 2012

Holly’s other presenting gigs since joining this morning include the first two series of The Voice UK on BBC One alongside co-presenter Reggie Yates.

She’s also fronted ITV’s revamped version of Surprise Surprise, which ran from 2012-2015, as well as sports quiz Play To The Whistle, which had three series on ITV from 2015-2017.

Holly’s other projects included the Saturday night dating show Meet The Parents – and she is of course a team captain on ITV2’s Celebrity Juice.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.

Alison Lapper breaks down in tears over son’s sudden death: ‘All I want is my boy back’

Alison Lapper broke down in tears when discussing her son’s tragic death.

Just last month, 19-year-old Parys suddenly passed away after suffering from anxiety and depression.

And now his heartbroken mum, who was born with phocomelia (leaving her with no arms and shortened legs), has spoken out about her boy’s battle with mental health.

In a tearful interview on This Morning, she told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: ‘All I want is my boy back and I can’t, that’s what I really want, so what can I do now?

‘This is a parent’s worse nightmare and it’s hell.’

While her voice cracked, she pressed on: ‘People say, “how do you feel?” And I don’t know how I feel, I feel numb and devastated and I don’t know…

‘He was my boy, he was a man but he was a young man and I don’t have that any more. He still had a lot to give.’

The disabled artist continued to talk about when she started to notice a change in Parys, and said her ‘bouncy, funny, little man’ disappeared when he was just 13.

‘I kept being fobbed off, with people telling me, “He is just playing up,” but it got to the point I would drive him to the school and couldn’t get him out of the van.’

The teenager was then sectioned, with Alison explaining it was an ‘awful’ period of her life.

She said she just wants her boy back (Picture: ITV)

‘To have your 17-year-old child put into very strange place, I think what really cut me up is that they put him into a box van, it was like he was going to prison and I had to follow.

‘And I was balling my eyes out thinking, “he is sitting there all on his own terrified, and there’s nothing I can do.”‘

Parys was placed in another of units before he was finally allowed back into the community.

Talking about the last time she saw her son, the 54-year-old said: ‘We had a lovely Saturday together in Brighton and he was himself that day, he was feeling better.

She smiled: ‘He was back to the loving, very funny, because he makes me laugh a lot, Parys, but then I’d lose him again.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 14 trailer proves the gang is as awful as ever

If you’ve been missing a dose of depravity and self-involvement in your life, worry not – It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is almost back.

Season 14 of the dark comedy is back on FX later this month and the first trailer for the new series shows that the gang are just as awful as ever.

We’d expect nothing less.

Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) proclaims: ‘Humans are stupid and it would be best if we were eradicated’, before Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day) confuses a window for a two-way mirror and urinates on Mac (Rob McElhenney).

Meanwhile, Frank (Danny De Vito) is keeping a cassava melon in a safe for some reason, and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) has to be resuscitated about being ‘poisoned’ in Guigino’s.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
The gang are back (Picture: FX)

Elsewhere, there’s a trip to the zoo, the gang, er, gang up on kids in a game of laser tag and Frank throws a sheet over a possibly dead woman.

Just par for the course for Paddy’s.

Season 14 comes nearly a year after the season 13 finale, which saw Mac coming to terms with his sexuality after coming out as gay, and the gang organising a float for Philly’s Pride parade.

It’s Always Sunny had previously gone on an ‘extended hiatus’ to accommodate the cast’s other projects, while doubt hung over Glenn Howerton’s return after Dennis was seemingly written out of the show in the 12th season finale.

However, he returned to star in season 13 and will be in season 14 along with Olson, McElhenney, Day and DeVito.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 14 premieres on 25 September on FX. All 13 seasons are available to stream on Netflix.

Sharon Osbourne visibly shaken by tragic fate of great-grandmother’s family on Who Do You Think You Are?

Sharon Osbourne had a particularly distressing experience on Who Do You Think You Are? last night, as she discovered her great-grandmother was one of just six children to survive infancy.

The former X Factor judge travelled to Newport, New England in America where she discovered a sad chapter in her family’s past.

Sharon’s great-grandmother Annie was the only one of her six siblings to survive after the age of two; her brothers and sisters died through cholera, weakness and consumption.

The family worked in a cotton mill and were treated like ‘slaves’ after emigrating to the States in the mid-19th century.

Annie’s mother, Sharon’s great-great-grandmother, died at the age of just 35 in a workhouse after the deaths of her children.

Her last surviving daughter, Annie would then journey back to England with her father following the tragic loss of her siblings and mother.

The former MTV star read the death records of her ancestor and her five children in quick succession and was visibly shaken the sad news.

‘She lost five children and then worked to death,’ she said of her great-great-grandmother, Catherine O’Donnell.

Who Do You Think You Are? viewers rushed to social media to share their condolences.

Whilst on the programme, the Osbourne family matriarch also discovered some new stories about her mother, Hope, who was arrested at the age of just 12 and starred as a dancer in a London music hall.

‘I’d just like to say that I am so sorry about the time that was wasted between us,’ Sharon said of her late mum. ‘The years that we could have had an amazing relationship and I judged her so harshly.’

The current series of Who Do You Think You Are? has also seen Daniel Radcliffe discover an incredible resemblance to his great-great-grandfather and Kate Winslet’s criticised ‘overacting’ after discovering her Scandinavian heritage.

Who Do You Think You Are? continues next Wednesday with Mark Wright at 9pm on BBC One.

Gemma Collins branded ‘disgusting’ as she spits food out and compares it to dog poo at fancy restaurant

Gemma Collins has come under fire for spitting out her food and comparing it to ‘dog s***’ in the final episode of her ITVBe show Diva Forever.

The reality star, who had asked her stylist to smell her ‘stinky’ vagina in previous scenes, was dining with Jonathan Cheban and his mother in an upscale Los Angeles restaurant when she made the etiquette faux-pas.

After shoveling a fork of greens into her mouth, Gemma quickly coughed it back up onto her plate before shaking her head in disgust.

As Jonathan aka Foodgod attempted to maintain a calm demeanour, he asked: ‘What did you eat?’

But a gagging Gemma replied: ‘Nah, not for me, f***king not for me. There’s something in that that tastes like s***.

‘There’s something like dog poo in there.’

Unfortunately, the damage had already been done though as viewers were left appalled by what they’d just witnessed.

‘Gemma Collins is so gross man! How’s she spitting her food out her mouth like that. Table manners in the floor,’ one blasted on Twitter.

Echoing a similar sentiment, another slammed: ‘Gemma Collins’ table manners are disgusting. The money has gone to her head.’

Not everyone was bothered by the uncouth scenes though, as others praised Gemma and branded her ‘funny’.

Gemma’s bizarre table manners come weeks after she complained her crotch ‘smelled like bread’ afer a long day of wearing ‘cheap knickers’ while working on a photoshoot in Manchester.

‘My vagina is on fire man. Sorry I’ve got to air it. I’ve got to itch it sorry.’, she said as her stylist Lucas offered to get some ice.

Upon his return, Gemma asked him to sniff her nether regions as she said: ‘It stinks doesn’t it?’

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have been told to put down their scripts on This Morning after Ant and Dec took over the show to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

The comedy duo stopped the break as they interrupted the show, and Holly was more than shocked.

Walking onto the set, Ant laughed: ‘I don’t know if you realise but it was 10 years ago that a fresh faced Holly Willoughby joined us for the very first time.’

His co-host added: ‘And the stars aligned and we didn’t realise that 10 years on Phil without Holly would be like ice cream without jelly, it would be like Tom without Jerry.’

They joked that they could go on before Holly chimed in: ‘I can’t believe you’re here.’

Ant continued: ‘Phil and Holly this is your anniversary gift…

‘There is a group of people waiting in the studio to help you celebrate your anniversary.’

The pair then grabbed the two surprised presenters and whisked them off to celebrate their special day before This Morning cut to a break, leaving us all confused.

When the adverts finished, Ant and Dec stepped into Holly and Phil’s shoes and showed them the best bits of the past 10 years.

Phil smiled and said: ‘It’s like working with your best mate,’ after watching the moving and hilarious showreel.

Suddenly Ant revealed there were even more surprises on the way, as they stormed the show.

Gino D’acampo had recorded a message for the pair where he congratulated his buddies on their anniversary.

’10 years together,’ he smiled down the lens: ‘Holly, I remember your first day like yesterday. You were so nervous and like a little puppy, and now look! You’re the queen of British television.’

Teasing her pal, Gino continued: ‘Phillip you haven’t aged a day, I don’t know what lotion you’re using but it’s working.

‘Long live the king and long live the queen of British television.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

Orlando Bloom just loves getting wet with Jimmy Fallon

As any established star worth their salt knows, you need to be game for anything on the late night talk show circuit.

And that includes getting absolutely drenched before an audience of millions…

Indeed, Lord of the Rings icon Orlando Bloom proved he’s not above a bit of horseplay after taking a glass of water to the face on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night.

‘It’s a good look!’ was his game reaction to a wet face.

In the game of Water Wars on the hit TV show, both Orlando and Jimmy ended up drenched.

Based on the card game War, the loser of each round gets a pint of water in the face.

‘Plenty of ways to get wet, only one way to win,’ quipped Jimmy at the start of the game.

‘I have that tattooed on my back.’

Although Jimmy won the first hand, Orlando ended up winning the overall game by a (still very wet) long shot.

It’s not the only escapade of late for Orlando, who’s on the promo trial for new TV show Carnival Row, in which he appears with Cara Delevingne.

He was recently pranked on Radio 1 by fiancée Katy Perry, who called in during his interview pretending to do an impersonation of herself – and with a questionable British accent.

Failing to recognise her voice, Orlando told Katy (or ‘Gemma’): ‘That was great, really well done. Not convinced, but you know, hard for me because I do live with that voice.’

Awkward!

Naked Attraction’s Anna Williamson wasted no time in helping a singleton demonstrate how to masturbate a partner with his foot.

Before getting down to business contestant Pablo admitted that he had previously pleasured his lovers with his feet, adding that the act also doubled up as a really good workout.

‘I’ve been known in the past to have masturbated my partners with my feet,’ Pablo confidently told the presenter.

An impressed Anna asked: ‘So you’ve w*nked off your partners with your feet? How do you do that?’

Pablo then got down on the floor to demonstrate, with Anna stepping in to pretend to be his partner.

Whipping out her forearm and pretending it was a ‘massive schlong’, Pablo got into position and told Anna that the act can help tone up the stomach.

‘It’s quite good for your abs, really good for your core, quite fun,’ he acknowledged.

We can’t believe we’ve been throwing our money at a personal trainer all this time.

Elsewhere in the show, Pablo spoke frankly about some of the dating challenges he has faced as someone living with HIV.

Opening up about the stigma, the 30-year-old said he was tested positive when he was just 19.

‘The minute you disclose you are HIV positive, people run for the hills,’ he said. ‘When I tell people that I’m HIV positive, people think about Freddie Mercury.

‘In fact I’ve been told I look a little bit like him.’

Pablo added: ‘The positive thing about Naked Attraction is that we see each other naked before we go on a date. There will be no awkward conversations.’

He told Anna: ‘I find that it’s difficult to meet people. I like to be open about people. When you bring that up it kills things off. There’s a lot of fear out there.

‘It’s perfectly fine to date someone who is HIV positive, to have sex with someone who is HIV positive. This is a good way to have it all in the open even before they see me.’

Naked Attraction airs Wednesdays at 10pm on Channel 4.

Lord of the Rings on Amazon Prime casts Will Poulter – everything we know about the TV prequel so far

Amazon Prime’s much-touted Lord of the Rings prequel series has officially found its first lead in The Revenant star Will Poulter.

Variety first reported that Poulter had bagged a starring role in Amazon’s new project, which sees the 26-year-old confirm his title as one of the most exciting young acting stars on the planet, following on from roles in The Maze Runner and trippy indie-horror Midsommar.

The Brit’s role in Amazon’s new flagship title is also being kept secret for now, although it was rumoured that Australian actress Markella Kavenaugh was also being tipped for a starring role in the series, while the plot will apparently have to stick very closely to late author J.R.R. Tolkien’s established canon.

Many stars of the original film trilogy – Elijah Wood’s Frodo, Sean Astin’s Sam or Viggo Mortensen’s Aragorn – would not have been alive in the Second Age, so the chance of them appearing in the serial is pretty slim. But one character who could conceivably turn up is Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen).

When Ian was asked if he could ever see himself returning, or see a younger actor replace him as the wizard, the Oscar-nominated actor said: ‘What do you mean, another Gandalf? I haven’t said yes because I haven’t been asked. But are you suggesting that someone else is going to play it? Gandalf is over 7,000 years old, so I’m not too old.’

The new adaption of Tolkien’s Middle-Earth comes with a hefty budget of $1 billion and has nabbed creative minds from shows like Game of Thrones, Westworld and Breaking Bad to ensure that it will live up to Peter Jackson’s Academy award-winning trilogy.

Orlando Bloom - Lord Of The Rings
Amazon’s prequel will take place 3,000 years before the events of Lord of the Rings
(Picture: Warner Brothers)

And before you ask, no Jackson isn’t involved in this incarnation of Middle-Earth.

But what do we know about the prequel so far?

When is the Lord of the Rings prequel set?

For those of you not familiar with the chronology of Tolkien’s Middle-Earth, there are three recorded ages of Middle-Earth in Tolkien’s writings, with the events of Lord of the Rings taking place at the end of the Third Age.

Amazon’s prequel series is now confirmed to be set in the Second Age of Middle-Earth.

The Second Age covers a time-span of over 3,000 years so there’s plenty of topics to cover, but the main event is the rise of Sauron, the Big Bad of the Rings books and films.

Will a young Sauron be making an appearance in this prequel? We’d bet on it.

Who is starring in the prequel series?

Markella Kavenagh

So far the only confirmed cast reports are for Will, but The Cry actress Markella Kavenaugh was also tipped to play a mysterious someone called Tyra.

When will Amazon’s Lord of the Rings prequel air?

There’s no confirmed air-date for the series yet, but don’t expect it to drop before at least 2021 because, apparently, they have 20 episodes to make!

We’ll keep you updated with all the latest news from Amazon’s Lord of the Rings prequel as soon as we get it.

Lord of Ther Rings is expected to air on Amazon Prime in 2021.

The owner of the castle used to film Downton Abbey has opened up about how the show wreaks havoc on her home when production takes place.

Lady Carnarvon, who lives at Highclere Castle, appeared on This Morning, where she spoke about what goes on behind the scenes.

And although she is in love with the ITV drama, she did say things get a big ‘messy’.

Chatting to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, she said: ‘You don’t see the glamour.

‘You just see the computer village and cameras everywhere, and people in black parkas. And you see, the people they open every single window in February.’

Laughing, Fiona added: ‘And they say, “oh it’s so cold how do you live here?” And it’s like, “we don’t open all the windows.”‘

However, despite the inconvenience, that hasn’t stopped her from being a fan.

Praising the writer Julian Fellowes, she added: ‘We didn’t know how successful it could be, I also knew Julian so I thought if I was really unhappy I could sit down and have a conversation, but I trusted them.

‘Julian has a brilliant way, and we all fall in love with the characters.’

Later this month the Downton Abbey movie will be released, and Lady Carnarvon confessed she’s still yet to see it.

‘I haven’t watched the movie yet, but I’m excited to see it,’ she beamed.

The film is said to be set one year on from the iconic series.

And despite both the cast and crew remaining tight lipped about what fans can expect, we do know is that it’ll focus on a royal visit from George V and Queen Mary.

Julian Fellowes will be taking the reigns and has written the script for the next installment of the Crawley’s.

Producer Gareth Neame, previously gushed over the writer and said: ‘Julian’s script charms, thrills and entertains and in Brian Percival’s hands we aim to deliver everything that one would hope for as Downton comes to the big screen.’

Downton Abbey the movie is out on 13 September, while This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

Spice Girls reunite once more – but Mel B refuses to say if Victoria Beckham was there

Mel B has refused to confirm whether Victoria Beckham was at a Spice Girls reunion hang out on Wednesday evening.

The girls are thought to be recording new material and are planning an upcoming animation film – which Victoria is a part of – but the five girls have not been pictured together in over a year.

However, Mel would not be drawn on the rumours that Victoria was back with her Spice Girls, telling Loose Women: ‘I always get into trouble, so I am not going to say anything.’

After hanging her head in her hands and then crossing her arms, she added: ‘I am not saying anything, I always get in trouble and I overshare, so I am not saying anything.’

She concluded: ‘I had a lovely time last night.’

The band – sans Victoria – kicked off their reunion tour in May with a shaky start, following sound issues on their opening set in Dublin.

Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Horner enjoyed an epic 13-date UK tour but Victoria refused to join the girls on the tour, 23 years after they first found chart success with Wannabe.

In August however, a source close to the girls claimed that they ‘have been working in London to gather their thoughts and start recording new material’.

‘It’s very exciting and in the early stages but it’s happening,’ the insider added, although admitted that though the girls were hopeful Victoria would join them, it wasn’t likely.

She will be back for the movie though, with manager Simon Fuller telling The Hollywood Reporter.

He said: ‘What’s coming next is that we are going to be doing lots of exciting things. We’ll be making an animated movie and there’s lots of exciting plans to come.’

Paramount Animation President Mireille Soria later confirmed previous reports of the film, admitting that the girls ‘had an idea that we’ve been developing’.

Liam Gallagher has revealed that he’s in talks for a role in the hit BBC drama Peaky Blinders.

The legendary musician told his followers on Twitter that he’s spending the day meeting ‘a man’ about potentially bagging a spot in the cast, meaning we could soon see him starring alongside the likes of Cillian Murphy and Helen McCroy.

Taking to the social media site, Liam began: ‘Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day.’

‘Any plans today Liam? replied one of his fans.

‘Thought you’d never ask,’ the Come Back To Me musician said. ‘Yeah, I’m off to meet a man about a part in Peaky Blinders.’

Liam added that his Birmingham accent is spot on too, describing it as ‘biblical’.

Unsurprisingly the Twittersphere was sent into meltdown over Liam’s confession, with one user excitedly writing: ‘I love Peaky Blinders! Really hope this is true. BY ORDER OF THE PEAKY BLINDERS!’

‘If you’re going to be in Peaky Blinders I’m gonna have to start watching it,’ another enthused.

Peaky Blinders fever is currently in full swing, with the BBC revealing that the thriller has recorded its highest-ever ratings in season five.

The broadcaster confirmed consolidated viewing figures for the launch of the latest installment, with stats showing it managed to attract 6.2 million fans for episodes one and two – a significant spike from the launch ratings of series four of 3.3 million viewers.

Although the BBC hasn’t confirmed whether there will be another season it looks likely there will be, as creator Steven Knight has previously revealed he is already working on a further two series.

‘We are definitely doing series six and we will probably do seven,’ he told the broadcaster in 2018. ‘After series four it went mad.

‘We’ve talked to Cillian Murphy and he’s all for it, and the rest of the principal cast are in for it.’

Peaky Blinders continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.

The Big Bang Theory fans call for Leonard and Penny spin-off: What have Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki said about reboot?

The Big Bang Theory fans have spoken after director Mark Cendrowski teased there could be a potential spin-off in the works following the final ever episode back in May.

The Young Sheldon continues to go from strength to strength but fans of the CBS sitcom still aren’t, and are unlikely to ever be, ready to say goodbye to Leonard (played by Johnny Galecki), Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Amy (Mayim Bialik), Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Howard (Simon Helberg), Raj (Kunnal Nayyar) and even Wil Wheaton (Wil Wheaton).

So who would they most like to see return with their own show?

Big Bang Theory poll

After announcing they were expecting their first child together, Penny and Leonard have emerged as the heroes Big Bang Theory fans would most like to see front a reboot, and by a substantially large margin in a poll conducted by Metro.co.uk.

The couple won 40 percent of the vote, but Raj came in second before Amy and Sheldon  – even though he stands alone after being the only member of the gang to end the series single, which was understandably a contentious issue for fans.

So, the fandom made their choice but could it really happen?

Both Johnny and Kaley were grilled over the likelihood of reviving Leonard and Penny last year and both seemed divided.

Kaley’s response was promising:

‘I mean, it’s 12 years of my life, we’ve all had a lot of ups and downs in the last 12 years we’re a very close group and, you know, we have a legacy of the show,’ she told Entertainment Tonight.

‘It’s something I’ll have for the rest of my life. It’s something I’ll probably compare every project to, like nothing will be like Big Bang. It just is what it is. It’s made me who I am. It’s given me so many great things and blessings and I’ll be very indebted to the show and Chuck Lorre forever.

‘I would be interested in working with Chuck again, and these are Chuck’s characters and it’s really whatever he would want.’

Sadly, Johnny’s not so keen – to put it lightly.

‘Absolutely not,’ he stressed (via news.com.au). ‘The show could not continue without Jim.’

Oh…

So, how about plan B? Kunal Nayyar, we’re looking at you buddy. When you’re back from your sabbatical, of course.

The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix now.

Celebrity MasterChef fans left baffled by Oti Mabuse and Joey Essex’s epic breakfast failure

$

Fans were bewildered after Celebrity MasterChef contestants Joey Essex and Oti Mabuse failed to dish up a basic breakfast on Wednesday night’s episode.

Strictly star Oti and fashion designer Zandra Rhodes paired up against Joey and Neil Ruddock. The women were asked to prepare a poached egg with hollandaise on a muffin and the men were assigned stuffed French toast.

The judges asked the partners to create identical dishes but the teammates were separated by a wall so they could only communicate by talking to each another.

Things didn’t go so well for either side. Joey repeatedly burned the eggy bread and Oti admitted she had no idea how to poach an egg.

Zandra did her best to help, but the ballroom dancer still struggled to understand the instructions, cracking her egg into a ramekin she then placed in a pan of boiling water. The judges were not impressed by the burnt result.

One viewer tweeted: ‘I remember when they had “celebrities” on MasterChef who could actually cook. Greg just complimented someone on how well they managed to toast a muffin…another BBC programme dumbed down to the lowest common denominator.’

‘I cannot watch this Celebrity MasterChef,’ said another. ‘It’s an insult to regular MasterChef viewers.’

While Oti struggled because of her lack of experience, it was pure lack of logic that let the TOWIE star down.

During one attempt, Joey only egged one side of the bread and charred the other, later confessing he was ‘confused’ by the task.

It’s been quite the learning curve for Joey, who learned about the existence of thyme after he mistook the herb for chives on Monday night’s episode.

Not everyone, however, was as critical of the star’s ineptitude.

‘Unbelievable to see how much Joey Essex has improved on Celebrity MasterChef from his first day,’ tweeted Leanne Everest.

‘I just love him and Neil Ruddock as a team!’

Celebrity MasterChef continues tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One.

Danny John-Jules slams Lorraine Kelly for not ‘defending him’ over Strictly Come Dancing ‘bullying’ claims

Danny John-Jules has called out Lorraine Kelly for not jumping to his defence when he was embroiled in Strictly Come Dancing ‘bullying’ claims last year.

The Red Dwarf actor, who told Metro.co.uk that believes the BBC was behind the entire scandal, explained that he expected the television presenter to fight his corner after appearing on her breakfast show a handful of times.

‘I’ve been on Lorraine’s show a couple of times,’ Danny began. ‘About three times and I’ve always had nothing but good things to say about her.

‘[She] never defended me. Never defended me. [She] went with the lie and I’m sorry, I’ve always said good things about her and I still haven’t said bad things about her.’

The former Strictly contestant continued to us in a lengthy video interview: ‘But, you [she] should have defended it you know, really, because you’ve met me three times.’

Danny, 58, has always maintained that the reported Strictly ‘bullying’ stories were ‘rubbish’.

‘I’ve said it since day one that that rubbish came out and I say it today, my conscience is clean,’ Danny added. ‘Every single person in the show associated with the show knows the truth and know that I am telling the truth.’

Despite being caught up in behind-the-scenes drama on last year’s series, Danny encouraged BBC Breakfast presenter Mike Bushell to take the plunge and sign up for 2019.

He revealed: ‘Funnily enough, we had the conversation at his wedding. Obviously, he’s not gonna not say that he’s doing it and have me find out in the press, because that’s silly.

‘Before he actually signed, he was like, “What’s it like? Did you have a good time?” And I said to him, “Mike, do it. It’s a great experience.

‘The dancing and all of that, the performance, on the night, the cheering, that’s showbiz. The rest of it you can keep.”’

In a previous interview, Danny accused the BBC of not stepping in and instead helping to ‘create the stories’ and a BBC representative responded that this was ‘categorically untrue’.

Strictly Come Dancing begins Saturday at 7.10am on BBC One.

Helen Skelton reveals how scammers robbed her of £70,000 life savings with one phone call

Helen Skelton appeared on Lorraine today revealing how scammers managed to rob her of £70,000 with a phone hoax.

The former Blue Peter presenter warned viewers to be careful not to fall into the same trap.

‘I got phoned up by the bank, told something dodgy had gone on with my account,’ she told Lorraine Kelly. ‘The next week I had £70,000, all of my savings, had gone. All gone.’

Helen insisted that all it took was ‘a few questions over the phone’ for her entire life savings to disappear. But the mother of two says she fell for the hoax because ‘you don’t question your bank.’

Now, the 36-year-old is launching a new programme with ITV to help inform the public of such hoaxes and to stop something similar happening to somebody else.

‘It happens every day of the week and to everyone,’ the star warned. ‘We are not talking about little old ladies who are victims and don’t understand the internet.’

Lorraine was clearly taken aback by the Countryfile presenter’s confession.

‘70 grand!’ she said, shocked. ‘Sometimes you are caught off balance. If you can be caught out…You’re not daft.’

‘It’s happening to a lot of people and they are too embarrassed to say it’s happened,’ the Helen replied. ‘We’ve got a programme next week that will help people be aware, be on guard and avoid that.’

Lorraine airs weekdays from 8.30am on ITV.
