The Grand Tour’s Jeremy Clarkson left fuming as he’s asked to get makeover for new TV show

Jeremy Clarkson was once asked to get a haircut for a new TV show, a request that left him fuming.

The Grand Tour star revealed that while he had never gone under the knife for surgery, a producer once suggested he should go for the chop.

And the 59-year-old was having absolutely none of it.

When asked if he was ever tempted to undergo Botox to change his appearance slightly, he fumed: ‘Of course I haven’t had Botox and no, no one has ever suggested I get my teeth whitened, or have filler.

‘The worst I’ve ever had was a producer telling me ahead of this new series to get a haircut.

‘I said, “You do know what’s happening in Syria, don’t you?”

Jeremy Clarkson

‘But I did get it cut, not that you’d notice the difference,’ he added to The Sun.

We’re sure your hair looked great, hun.

But there was one aspect of his appearance he was forced to hit back on, after a concerned Who Wants To Be A Millionaire viewer questioned his ‘profuse sweat’.

Charming.

Following a recent episode, a fan took to Twitter to ask: ‘Why does @JeremyClarkson look like he is profusely sweating??’

Not missing a beat, Jezza hit back: ‘Because I am? Could that be it?’

Jeremy Clarkson

It’s a nervy task, helping contestants attempt to win £1million, so maybe everyone should just lay off…

And it’s no wonder he’s sweating, as he recently vowed to cough up some cash if he was the reason a contestant went home with nothing.

Producers previously added a fun (read: agonising) new lifeline to the show, meaning baffled players could ‘ask the host’ for help if they didn’t know the answer.

While he hasn’t been too helpful at the game, he hasn’t lost anyone any money as of yet.

And the former Top Gear presenter confessed he would get his wallet out if this was to change.

‘If it was a low amount – in the hundreds – definitely. If I got it wrong though I’d have an uncomfortable night,’ he told The Sun.

‘I’ve never cost anyone money. I’ve said I don’t know if I don’t.

‘But this time round I’ve been better. I’ve been lucky. They’ve asked me questions I’ve known the answers to.’

Hopefully that continues into the next series…

BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker accidentally holds up racy picture to shocked viewers

Dan Walker suffered major embarrassment on this morning’s BBC Breakfast when he accidentally held up a newspaper clipping showing a lady in her underwear.

The 42-year-old presenter was eager to show his co-host Sally Nugent an image of a Yorkshire pudding that resembled a dog that he’d discovered when flicking through this morning’s headlines, however failed to realise what was printed on the back.

As Dan waited to reveal his findings, he held the back of the cutting at the camera giving audiences an eyeful of a model in a bra and knickers. Awkward.

It wasn’t until towards the end of his episode hat he noticed his error and addressed it publicly on Twitter, writing to his  578,200 followers: ‘Note to self: ALWAYS CHECK THE BACK.’

Unsurprisingly, viewers were in stitches over Dan’s error and wasted no time in calling him out on social media, with one suggesting: ‘Next time you carefully fold a newspaper to show an article you might want to check what’s on the back.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘@BBCBreakfast does @mrdanwalker realise what’s on the back of that newspaper clipping?’

After Dan showed the hilarious picture of the savoury side, he added: ‘I had a bit of ham once.

‘I thought it looked like John Major but it didn’t.’

This isn’t the first blunder to hit the BBC Breakfast gang in recent months.

Back in April, Louise Minchin was left red-faced when her phone went off while live on air.

The host, 50, was left mortified as her device started blasting music from her new podcast but took the incident in her stride.

She gasped: ‘Goodness me, sorry. God, that is so embarrassing. How have I done that?’

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.

Many of us were left stunned when Arya Stark killed off The Night King in the final season of Game Of Thrones, but it turns out that the young warrior might have her brother Jon to thank.

Eagle-eyed fans have rewatched the epic Battle of Winterfell scenes, that took place in series eight episode The Long Night, and have worked out that Jon (Kit Harington) aided her epic takedown.

Sharing their findings on Reddit, they pointed out that The White Wolf cried out to distract the undead dragon so that his sister could sneak past it and enter the Godswood.

‘Watch it again, you can actually hear him scream, “GOOOOO – GO – GO,”‘ user Applesoapp revealed.

’10 seconds later the scene you can see the hair of a White Walker flying up when Arya sprints past the group of White Walkers.

‘Jon once again was ready to sacrifice himself to kill The Night King.’

Many others chimed in convinced that Jon must have forged the plan with Arya, adding: ‘I like it purely because it makes more sense than Jon randomly yelling at a dead dragon’s face for no apparent reason, which is what I thought the first two times I watched the episode.’

Not all were convinced by this theory though, with one skeptic writing: ‘I love the idea that Jon was purposefully trying to distract the dragon, but there is no indication he was even aware of Arya.’

The Great British Bake Off is turning its attention to bread this week (Picture: Channel 4)

We’re three weeks into The Great British Bake Off 2019 and already this series is proving as compulsive as ever.

The first fortnight of the show has seen the contestants take on cakes, biscuits and bread – with suggestively shaped cakes, sugar towers taking a tumble Paul Hollywood mishearing talk of ‘fairy gardens’.

All that and a whole lot of debate over the first lot bakers to leave the tent – with Dan Chambers succumbing in week one and Jamie Finn getting the boot in week two – while last week saw Amelia de Bruin eliminated from the competition.

This week it’s Dairy Week in the tent – but what time should you tune in?

Here’s what you need to know…

What time is The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4 tonight?

The Great British Bake Off is on Channel 4 on Tuesday night at 8pm.

The show runs for an hour and a quarter ahead of Sink Or Swim for Stand Up To Cancer at 9.15pm.

The contestants from The Great British Bake Off 2019
Who will rise to the top in Bread Week and whose dough will sink? (Picture: Channel 4)

If you’ve missed any instalments so far you can catch up with them on 4od.

What are the bakers making in Dairy Week?

It’s the first ever Dairy Week in Bake Off history, and the pressure is on for the remaining bakers.

They’ll be doing their best to impress Paul and Prue with their lactose-filled creations, kicking off the week with a decorative signature bake followed by a technical challenge which dates back to the days of Henry VIII.

The showstopper, meanwhile, will see the bakers tackling a tricky showstopper which is normally a central part of Indian weddings.

There’s everything to play for – but who will milk their opportunity and who will leave the judges cheesed off?

We’ll find out later on…

Love Island’s Ovie Soko revealed he was never invited to be part of the cast’s official WhatsApp group, and our hearts have broken.

After Maura Higgins revealed the group chat was basically dead, the 28-year-old – who came third on the show with India Reynolds – explained he was never in it in the first place.

Sounds a little chaaaldish…

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk at the launch of his collection with ASOS, he told us: ‘A lot of people have been asking about this Love Island WhatsApp group…

‘This seems to be the thing.

‘I mean, I’ve got everyone’s numbers from Love Island, but I’m not part of any group…

Ovie Soko for ASOS
Ovie confessed he wasn’t part of the official Love Island WhatsApp group (Picture: ASOS)

‘So maybe there’s a group out there that I’m not part of… Are you telling me I should be part of the group?!’

Laughing the apparent snub off, the basketball player joked: ‘You’ve just let me know I’m not part of the group, oh wow. Wow.’

That’s fine hun, you can be in ours….!

While he might not have made it into the group chat, Ovie has absolutely no regrets about taking part in this year’s series and wouldn’t trade his experience in for the upcoming South Africa season.

Ovie isn’t that fussed about the snub because he’s a true king (Picture: ASOS)

When asked whether he thinks winter Love Island will be as popular with fans, he continued: ‘I’m not sure, I don’t know whether it’s going to be as big as the summer one or not, I really couldn’t tell you.

‘That’s human nature, you always want more at the end of the day.

‘I’m happy with Majorca, Majorca was a good experience.’

He met India in the Majorcan villa after all…

Ovie Soko for ASOS
Ovie’s ASOS was celebrated with #NationalOvieDay (Picture: ASOS)

Ovie was recently announced as ASOS’ first ever celebrity collaboration – and the news was celebrated with #NationalOvieDay, which is absolutely no less than he deserves.

ITV2 viewers had been begging his range after noticing his unique style in the Island.

‘The people got what they wanted,’ he yelled. ‘It’s wild, the whole journey thus far has been dope. Something I couldn’t really put entirely into words, but it’s just been amazing. I think what it represents, it’s a lot bigger than a TV show could ever be.

‘It’s given hope to everyone, in my opinion, and let them know that being yourself can get you good things in life. Having good, positive energy does go a long way.’

Speaking about his seven-piece collection, which has been inspired massively by dad Raymond’s artwork, he was adamant that this would be the focal point of the clothes.

‘That was a huge part, when we sat down with ASOS and started going through what my ideas were, what my vision was,’ he said.

‘I’ve had a lot of influences growing up, but my dad and brother have been the main male influences in my life. Why would I steer away from that now?’

And Ovie teased that the collection – which features a selection of his trademark bucket hats – would also look good on women.

‘There will be sizes for everyone, ASOS does a good job at that. I’m an extremely tall gentleman and I find clothes there that fit me very well,’ he added. ‘They do a good job at tailoring to people of all shapes and sizes.

‘I really believed in a lot of their beliefs in a brand, and the energies between them and myself, it just all fell in line. It was the perfect relationship.’

Count. Us. In.

Ovie’s collection will be available on ASOS from 23 September.

Vikings star Alexander Ludwig has bagged a role in a brand new Starz drama titled Heels.

The 27-year-old actor will be joined by Arrow’s Stephen Amell in the upcoming series and the pair will play rival brothers and pro wrestlers named Ace and Jack, respectively.

Although Alexander’s character Ace is the hero and star, he’s secretly dealing with a load of issues outside of the ring.

‘Things are more difficult in the real world, where he struggles to reconcile his town idol status with his insecurities and demons,’ teases a description shared with Deadline.

It adds that Ace is ‘brash, cocky, and self-destructive – yet so damn charming and good-looking that you can almost forgive him.’

Sounds like we’re gonna be instantly hooked, tbh.

Talking about his new part, Alexander enthused to his followers on Instagram: ‘The character is outrageous, the script is incredible.

‘Beyond excited to bring this world to life. And will absolutely be dropping my big bros @therock @edgeratedr a line.’

He added: ‘Need all the advice I can get!’

Alexander currently plays the infamous Björn Ironside, the son of Ragnar Lothbrok and Lagertha, on History’s Vikings, which is coming to an end later this year.

Showrunner Michael Hirst confirmed that the series would conclude in season six, explaining that he always had a clear endgame in mind for the show.

Vikings season six is set to air on the History Channel and Amazon Prime in Autumn this year.

Love In The Countryside presenter Sara Cox had one key piece of advice for the seven rural singletons as they embarked on a journey to find a partner.

The BBC radio host, who grew up on her family’s pedigree beef farm in Lancashire, gave her rural romantics a tip during filming for the second series of the dating show and it provided a real comfort to contestant Grace.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Grace revealed: ‘She [Sara] just said, “Be yourself,” and she said to me, “I’m sure you’ll be fine, Grace. You’ve got all these men.”‘

Grace continued: ‘She was a real comforting, kind person and made it so easy to get involved with them and speak with them. She put you at ease. She was great at putting you at ease.

‘I learned a lot about myself and I had so much fun.’

Grace added: ‘I didn’t feel invaded. It was all about me and meeting someone and Sara was there to hold my hand all the way through it.

‘She’s so down to earth and she’s such a nice person. She knows what it takes to survive in this world so she was a great mentor.’

The second series of Love In The Countryside kicks off tonight, with Grace meeting not one, not two, but three potential suitors.

‘It was really hard for me to let three people into my really busy family life and into my life in one fell swoop,’ she admitted. ‘And the worst part for me was that it felt like I was cheating on them all.

‘I didn’t want to give anyone more time than the other. I felt like I owed each of them a fair chance.’

Love In The Countryside airs tonight at 9pm on BBC Two.

What happens to the food after Bake Off?

A still from Channel 4 show The Great British Bake Off
So much cake, so little time to eat it all (Picture: Channel 4)

The Great British Bake Off has been back on our screens since the end of August, which has brought pure and simple baking-related joy and sugary sweetness back into our lives.

As well as wondering where Noel Fielding gets his incredible jumpers, if Paul is purposefully using all of those innuendos and what Phil meant when he confessed that his wife was a ‘biscuit freak’, we also can’t help but wonder at the end of each episode what happens to all of the food that has been baked once the cameras stop rolling.

It was recently revealed that judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will consume 13,500 calories between them over the series despite only taking a couple of mouthfuls in each taste test. So they certainly won’t be tucking into any extra cake if they can help it.

So, what does happen to all of that leftover food on Bake Off after Paul and Prue have finished judging?

What happens to the food after Bake Off?

When former contestant Kim-Joy appeared on The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year at the end of 2018, the GBBO finalist revealed what happened to all the baked goods after each episode had been recorded, finally putting our curiosity to rest on the matter.

In response to Jimmy Carr asking: ‘When you’ve finished with the cake and the judges have had a little bit, what happens to the cake?’

Priya on The Great British Bake Off 2019
Imagine having that much cake to eat at work every day (Picture: WENN/Channel 4)

‘The crew will eat it,’ Kim-Joy said. ‘They’d know the best ones, so they all descend on the bake.’

The show’s Chief Home Economist, Faenia Moore, confirmed Kim-Joy’s confession but also revealed that the contestants themselves get to try their own creations, telling BBC Good Food: ‘It’s important for the bakers to eat what they’ve slaved over, so after each challenge I make up a ‘baker’s basket’ to go to their lunchroom.

‘Then any leftovers go to the crew’s lunch. Everyone gets quite excited.’

Chetna Makan, a GBBO contestant from the 2014 series, agreed with Faenia that the contestants definitely help make sure nothing goes to waste.

In an interview with Digital Spy she said: ‘It’s not just the cameramen who swarm over the food, we (the other contestants) definitely do it too.’

So that just leaves us with one more question – how do we get a job on the crew of Great British Bake Off?!

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesdays on Channel 4 at 8pm.

Where is Netflix’s Marianne filmed and who is in the terrifying show’s cast?

A photo of one of the characters in Netflix drama Marianne, which was filmed in France
Netflix show Marianne has left viewers on a cliff edge, but where are the coastal scenes where the horror was filmed?

New Netflix chiller Marianne, a Gallic gothic tale channeling levels of terror straight from The Exorcist, has left its unsettling mark on horror fans since its fitting release on Friday the 13th.

Starring Emma Larsimon (Victoire Du Bois) as a novelist whose teenage nightmares bring themselves to life all too vividly, the eight-episode French-language series sets the tone for its drama with a succession of sinister views.

A sparse coastal town teeters on cliff edges, dead trees lie in a bleakly desolate forest and fallen leaves hide plunge holes in the opening scenes.

If you’re wondering where the action takes place, here are some of the locations where the hauntings happened.

Where was Marianne filmed?

Speaking to Ouest France, creator Samuel Bodin admitted he wanted to ‘play with clichés’ and tap into the concepts that scared people as children during the filming of the series.

Brittany, on the tip of north-west France, is a region that has frequently been linked with the paranormal, featuring sites such as the Château de Trécesson, a castle that was first mentioned in the eighth century and is listed as a historic monument.

The riverside castle is part of the folklore of the Dames Blanches, a group of female spirits or supernatural beings said to have lurked malevolently near waterways since at least the 19th century.

Bodin toys with this idea in some of the most powerful passages of Marianne, saying: ‘I wanted a witch like Snow White. I think of Marianne as a ghost train – I like this playful horror.’

What areas of France are featured in Marianne?

The Doëlan area, punctuated by lighthouses and characterised by the rocky coastal edges familiar from the opening scenes of Marianne, also offered breathtaking backdrops.

Bodin names the small fishing port and the commune of Quimperlé, which was once home to Neanderthals and became well-populated from the Middle Ages, as perfect settings for his direction.

A photo of a scene from new Netflix thriller Marianne
The characters in Marianne come across evil spirits in rural France

He said: ‘That area is the one that looks the most like the place I imagined – grey and wet at the seaside, with a lighthouse.

‘Fear is born on the edge of boredom. I had it in mind to have fun with local folklore.’

The Chapel of St Anne of Doëlan is the site where priest Xavier holds masses, and the Victorian-style architecture of nearby Pléneuf‑Val‑André, which is known for its sandy beaches, contributes to the gothic feel of several scenes.

While Doëlan is the real-life version of Emma’s home town of Elden, the writing house in the first episode was created in the more urban setting of Paris’s Guimet Museum.

Dating from the 19th century, the critically-acclaimed museum is best known for its magnificent collection of Asian art.

Who is in the Marianne cast?

Prior to playing Emma, Du Bois’ most notable role was as Chiara in the 2017 coming-of-age film Call Me by Your Name.

Cast by Italian director Luca Guadagnino, Du Bois helped the film win a string of awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards and an honour at the BAFTAs.

Du Bois is supported by Lucie Boujenah, a French-Tunisian actress for whom Marianne is her most prominent Netflix role to date following her grounding in French film and television.

Their fellow cast member, Tiphaine Daviot, has a taste for taking part in horror shows, having previously been in the first season of Black Spot, a French-Belgian television thriller.

The debut season became the first French series to be snapped up by Amazon Prime, who agreed a deal to stream it globally outside of Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Marianne is available on Netflix now.

Kourtney Kardashian has revealed she actually considered quitting Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

The reality star admitted on The Real Daytime that she thought about walking away from the E! series, which has been gracing our screens since 2007, and keeping her life away from the camera.

‘Well every day is different,’ Kourntey began, before being asked whether she deliberated leaving.

‘Yeah! But at the current moment I’m happy and very into my blessings and feeling very good,’ she replied. ‘But I definitely have my moments where, ’cause I mean, life is short.’

Um, there’s literally no show without Kourtney so thank goodness she decided against it.

Kourtney also revealed that she wouldn’t push her three children Mason, Penelope and Reign, whom she shares with her ex Scott Disick, into wanting reality shows of their own and has her fingers crossed that it’s not their goal in life.

‘If they want to do it, I think it’s whatever their dreams are,’ she continued.

‘I definitely would never push them to do it and it’s not something that I’m hoping that they’re going to do.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Kourtney confessed that she feels pressure from her billionaire sister Kylie.

She told presenters Loni Love, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Jeannie Mai and Adrienne Bailon: ‘Probably subconsciously it makes us feel like, “When is it enough?”

‘And that’s a thing I always think to myself, when is it enough because I don’t like missing out on certain things like doing my kids homework or certain after-school activities for different things like that.’

This comes after Kylie, 22, was announced the world’s youngest ‘self-made’ billionaire by Forbes back in March of this year.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians airs on E! in the US.

Top Boy landed back onto out screens with a bang thanks to Netflix and Canadian rapper Drake and fans have been loving the return of the gripping crime drama.

Starring Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson as drug dealers Dushane and Sully, many of the original cast have returned for the series along with new names such as Lisa Dwan from Trust, Jasmine Jobson from Lie Low and Obey and British rap star Little Simz.

At the UK premiere of the show, producer Drake thanked the cast and crew for helping him bring Top Boy back to TV screens.

‘I just want to say thank you so much for allowing me be a part of it,’ he said.

‘I know a lot of the time people are like, “Yo, you’re not even from there, don’t ever forget you’re not from there.” Sometimes it’s not just about where you’re from it’s about places you wish you were from and you all inspire me.’

But where is that Top Boy is set, that Drake supposedly wishes he was from?

Top Boy centres on an underground drug business set on a council estate called Summerhouse.

The original Channel 4 series sought to give audiences an accurate portrayal of growing up in London and the well-received reboot has returned to the show’s roots, setting the drama right back where the action started – on the streets of Hackney, East London.

Great British Bake Off has toughest technical challenge yet as all bakers fail to get it right

Prue and Paul on Bake Off
Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith weren’t impressed (Picture: Channel 4)

The Great British Bake Off turned up the heat on the bakers with a technical challenge that proved too tricky for everyone.

For Dairy Week the bakers were asked to whip up one of Henry VIII’s faves, Maids of Honour.

Maids of Honour are tarts with a pastry case and a cheese curd filling.

The filling had to be ‘well risen’ and can be made with puff pastry.

As ever the challenge was judged blind, so Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith were briefly booted out of the tent.

Before she left, Prue had some advice to give the bakers, telling them ominously: ‘All the elements are equally important, so don’t mess up on any of them.’

Unfortunately, that’s what happened, as the bakers struggled with the cheese curd filling, the baking and the pastry.

Priya in particular found it tough as she had misjudged the amount of time she had left and fell behind, taking her pastry out of the fridge late.

When Paul and Prue returned to judge, Paul was so horrified by the bakers’ offerings that he jokingly turned around and stormed out of the tent.

‘By and large they’re almost all a little too shallow,’ Prue said.

Paul was bit less diplomatic, saying: ‘They’re awful. They’re really bad.’

He found them so bad that he refused to even judge Priya’s.

Steph came out on top, but it seemed she just the best of a bad bunch.

Prue said: ‘I wish I could say they were the best Maids Of Honour I’ve ever eaten, but they were certainly the best of this lot.’

Priya said she was ‘disappointed’, and added: ‘It’s only my own fault.’

Sandi Toksvig joked to Paul that it was the ‘best technical ever’.

The Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.

Great British Bake Off’s most nail-biting episode yet: From tears to bitchy quips about balls, here’s what happened

We’re four weeks into The Great British Bake Off now and the contestants are certainly beginning to feel the heat.

Tonight’s episode was arguably the most dramatic yet and the show’s first-ever Dairy Week proved to be too much to deal with for a lot of the bakers.

This evening’s installment saw judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith challenged the amateurs with a decorative signature, a complex recipe with a long history that dates back to Henry VIII for the technical, and an intricate showstopper usually found at Indian weddings.

But for those who didn’t get a chance to tune into the latest offering, we’ve got a trusty recap of the most jaw-dropping moments.

Michelle broke a cake stand

Michelle Evans had a right mare as she broke the cake stand in an attempt to plate her signature rhubarb cake.

‘I broke the stand,’ she panicked.

‘Don’t worry about it,’ host Sandi Toksvig said. ‘I’ll find another stand.’

But just as Michelle thought she was in the clear, her bake almost fell off the plate and onto the table.

Thankfully though, Michael came to the rescue.

Michael cried after his signature bake went wrong

Michael Chakraverty’s cheesecake surprise, made up of raspberry, didn’t exactly go to plan.

As he attempted to remove the sponge from the baking tin he realised it had been cut right down the middle and of course, he was left devastated by the results.

‘It’s pretty much my worst nightmare,’ he admitted. ‘It’s unrescuable. If I was at home I’d put it in the bin.’

Paul wasn’t impressed by the presentation either and called the dessert ‘terrible’, but he was a big fan of how it tasted.

Swings and roundabouts, eh?

No one nailed the technical challenge

Prue and Paul on Bake Off
Paul was not impressed (Picture: Channel 4)

Prue and Paul expected 10 maids of honour tarts for this week’s technical challenge, which are a traditional English tart consisting of a puff pastry shell filled with cheese curds.

However, none of the contestants managed to get them right.

‘By and large, they’re almost all a little too shallow,’ Prue said upon seeing them laid out on the table.

Paul was extremely dissatisfied too as he inspected them, adding: ‘They’re awful, they’re really bad.’

Priya O’Shea came last in the task, with Steph Blackwell coming in first – only because someone had to.

Henry’s Mishti didn’t set and he panicked

For the showstopper challenge, the bakers had to create Bengali sweets called Misthi.

Henry Bird decided to take a risk and make a raspberry icecream Misthi, but with the clock against him and his treats didn’t set in time.

‘I didn’t think this through,’ he commented as he tried to salvage what remained.

Steph made a bitchy quip about the size of Steph’s balls

Steph Blackwell made a little dig about the size of Henry’s Misthi in tonight’s episode.

‘If I get these the wrong size, then I’ve got trouble,’ Henry said.

‘Henry obviously thinks size matters,’ quipped Steph out of the blue.

Is there beef here?

The Great British Bake Off fans shocked as Phil sent home after first-ever dairy week

The Great British Bake Off sent Phil Thorne packing after he failed to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith during the show’s first-ever Dairy Week.

Tonight’s episode saw the hopefuls put through their paces as they had to rustle up a decorative signature, a complex recipe with a long history that dates back to Henry VIII for the technical, and an intricate showstopper usually found at Indian weddings.

The installment was jam-packed with drama and viewers saw tears and bitchy quips as the contestants felt the pressure begin to intensify.

Unfortunately, Phil didn’t quite impress with his creations and was booted out of the competition.

‘Dairy week, curse the dairy week,’ Phil said upon being eliminated.

Reflecting on his experience, he added: ‘Such an amazing group of people, fantastic. I’ve absolutely loved every second of it.’

Paul said: ‘Phil was particularly shocked and he had justification to be shocked because it was that tight, it was that close.’

Talking about why Phil had to go, he continued: ‘It was a little bit boring, a little bit too simple. I think he struggled a bit in his showstopper, which is why sadly Phil had to leave.’

Viewers were not happy with Phil’s elimination

Meanwhile, Steph Blackwell was awarded star baker this week for her efforts.

‘I was very pleased for Steph,’ said Prue. ‘She’s a very serious baker.’

Last week, we said goodbye to Amelia Le Bruin as she struggled to rise to the occasion in a series of bread challenges.

Amelia followed fan favourite Jamie Finn, who became a meme goldmine, despite only surviving the show for two weeks.

The Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.

The Capture recap: Who killed Hannah Roberts? 5 questions we have after episode 3

$

Holliday Granger in The Capture
The Capture gave us some answers but far more questions tonight (Picture: BBC)

*Warning: This article contains spoilers from episode three of The Capture.

So, it’s taken three weeks but it finally feels like we’re getting some answers as Rachel Carey has landed the high profile homicide she was after when Shaun Emery made the discovery he’d been dreading: Hannah Roberts’ body.

The third instalment of Ben Chapman’s CCTV thriller opened the game up to an entirely new playing field. This is no longer Shaun Emery versus Detective Inspector Rachel Carey, there’s a much greater power pulling the strings behind-the-scenes: Frank. Who Frank might be is still foggy, but you can bet someone we know is all too familiar with the American.

We have some answers, but we have far more questions after episode three.

Who killed Hannah Roberts?

Hannah Roberts
We know Hannah Roberts is dead but who killed her? (Picture: BBC)

The disappearance of Hannah (played by Laura Haddock) is now the murder of Hannah after tonight’s episode closed with her lifeless body looking out at Shaun (Callum Turner) from his pal Mat Forester’s (Tommy McDonnell) car boot.

But could Mat really have killed Hannah? So far, Shaun’s best friend has been, to put it lightly, a bit of a drip. The barrister’s death is part of a bigger picture – that we know for sure – and all of this seems way out of Mat’s reach.

However, who else had access to the boot? With that in mind…

Has Mat Forester been playing us all for a fool?

Mat still has all his fingers and was conveniently waiting outside Hannah’s flat, by Shaun’s request, when Shaun was first kidnapped. While we’ve learned about ‘the wipe’, possibly explaining the corrupt CCTV footage which got us here in the first place, that doesn’t explain how guards managed to pull Mat’s digits off one by one.

Then then there’s the body and the admission Mat turned Shaun over to police.

From the get-go it was obvious we couldn’t trust anyone and Mat may have proved us right.

What is DSU Gemma Garland’s motive?

Gemma Garland in The Capture
What is Gemma Garland’s game in The Capture? (Picture: BBC)

Gemma Garland (Lia Williams)may be leading this case but she’s doing everything in her power to sabotage Rachel’s progress. But why? From episode one we’ve known Rachel (Holliday Granger) is being used as a pawn but perhaps she came closer to the truth than anyone expected.

While Gemma isn’t exactly being subtle when she throws obstacle after obstacle to Rachel we’re not really any closer to realising why.

How is Danny Hart involved?

Rachel’s lover Danny Hart (Ben Mills) has been trying to deter her from discovering that CCTV footage can effectively be manipulated to provide whatever evidence is needed and now we know why: Danny was behind the capture of four suspected terrorists and subsequently hailed a hero. Only, he’s known how the tape incriminating Shaun has been a farce this entire time.

But what does he want with Shaun?

Will Rachel save Shaun?

Rachel Carey in The Capture
How the tables have turned for Rachel Carey (Picture: BBC)

Tonight Rachel finally answered the mystery behind the CCTV footage which has literally been giving us a head ache since The Capture’s premiere, and it appears the detective may be about to switch teams.

There was always more to this picture; Shaun was so genuinely adamant he had nothing to do with Hannah’s disappearance it didn’t take too long before Rachel doubted everything she knew. And then those doubts became real tonight and suddenly she realised the cat has been chasing the wrong mouse.

After putting Shaun behind bars will Rachel be the one to clear his name?

The Capture continues next Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One.

Lord Of The Rings Amazon Prime series drops cryptic clue prompting fans to speculate filming is underway

Lord Of The Rings has shared another cryptic teaser (Warner)

Lord Of The Rings has dropped another cryptic clue teasing the Amazon Prime Video series, leading fans to believe filming has begun.

The show’s official Twitter account shared an emoji of the New Zealand flag, where the film trilogy was shot between 2001 and 2003, and now people are convinced that the account’s mysterious message means shooting is officially underway.

Sharing their speculation, one user asked: ‘You’re filming in New Zealand???’ as another guessed: ‘They started shooting.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘Glad to see you’re filming in Middle-earth!’

Back in February, it was confirmed that the primary location for filming the series will be New Zealand, with Scotland losing out due to reports Brexit is to blame.

The New Zealand Herald reported the country had ‘nearly lost out on the astronomically lucrative deal to Scotland, which is now expected to play a smaller part in the TV series’ following the Christ Church terror attack in March.

‘When commissioning international television productions, they all have security reports and look at the risks and threats to international crews coming in,’ an insider added to the publication.

‘When New Zealand’s status changed there were very high-level talks between the New Zealand government and Amazon to assure them that it was a one-off event, that New Zealand remains a very safe place for international workers and film crews to work.

‘It was pretty quickly laid to rest and Amazon agreed and decided to move the production south.’

Earlier this month, reports claimed that Will Poulter had been cast in a leading role for the Lord Of The Rings series.

The only confirmed casting for the reboot is actress Markella Kavenagh, with the show helmed by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Orphanage director JA Bayona.

Lord Of The Rings is expected to air on Amazon Prime Video in 2020.

Matt Jones is set to reprise his role as Jesse Pinkman’s best friend Brandon ‘Badger’ Mayhew in the upcoming Breaking Bad movie El Camino.

The 37-year-old actor confirmed his involvement in the movie on Instagram by sharing a picture from the Netflix project with his 24,900 followers, much to our delight.

‘Oh yeah, I’m in this,’ Matt cooly wrote.

Unsurprisingly, Matt’s news was happily received with a number of fans getting in touch to air their excitement.

‘Yes! Badger is back!!!’ enthused one, as another added: ‘The return of one of the two best hitmen west of the Mississippi!’

All that’s left now is for Bryan Cranston to confirm his involvement as Walter White.

Badger featured in a number of Breaking Bad episodes and was last seen in the grand finale as he joined Skinny Pete and posed as unseen hitmen.

The new movie picks up after the season five finale Felina, which saw Jesse escape his white supremacist captors in a Chevrolet El Camino and drive to freedom.

Last week, Netflix released a new supercut ahead of the film, with the three-minute clip recapping Jesse’s heartbreak from the series’ five seasons, including the deaths of Andrea and Jane and of course his showdown with Walter.

An official synopsis reads: ‘Written and directed by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, the movie follows fugitive Jesse Pinkman as he runs from his captors, the law, and his past.’

Although El Camino is due to drop next month, details still remain sparse, but that doesn’t mean we’re any less excited.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie releases 11 October on Netflix.

A Little Late with Lilly Singh will have an hourlong special with confirmed guests including Christina Aguilera, Tony Hale, Mandy Moore, and a performance from 5 Seconds of Summer.

The comedian will also be joined by Milo Ventimiglia and Kenan Thompson, plus there will be a special appearance from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – who said he watched the premiere.

The new talk show hosted by Canadian YouTuber Lilly Singh premiered with a sneak peek on YouTube – of course – on 17 September, before airing on NBC.

The first episode included an appearance from Lilly’s role model Mindy Kaling and also featured a rap calling out whiteness and the boys club in late night TV.

Lilly took many moments in the first show to express her excitement and gratitude to her audience and viewers watching at home.

Mindy told Lilly it was ‘thrilling’ to have representation like her on screen and she wished she’d seen someone like her on TV growing up.

She said she was ‘super excited to help pave the path’.

Fans of the 30-year-old – who found fame on YouTube as Superwoman – expressed their admiration for the host on social media.

One fan wrote: ‘I think it’s about time that we put some major respect onto Lilly Singh‘s name. She is the first openly bisexual woman of colour to host a daily late night show on a major broadcast network like NBC. She really did THAT!’

She really did that! (Picture: Twitter)

The daughter of Indian immigrants in Canada, Lilly, took over outgoing NBC late-night host Carson Daly’s time slot.

‘An Indian-Canadian woman with her own late night show? Now that is a dream come true,’ she said in a statement. ‘I’m thrilled to bring it to life on NBC, and I hope my parents consider this to be as exciting as a grandchild.’

During her show she even turned the fact that she is one of the few openly queer women to host a talk show into a joke: ‘It’s a complete coincidence I chose a network whose logo is also the pride flag.’

Before the premiere of her show she appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and thanked NBC for being ‘the only network where a woman can have a show after midnight that allows her to keep her clothes on.’

But she clearly hasn’t let the hype get to her head, with her Insta posts staying humble about the reality of her busy schedule.

Lillys gourmet diet (Picture: Instagram)

Lilly’s original YouTube channel, in where she produced sketches referencing her immigrant background and being open about her mental health, has more than 14 million followers.

In addition, she has also appeared on the big screen with acting roles in Bad Moms and HBO’s Fahrenheit 451.

In 2017 she was ranked tenth on the Forbes list of the world’s highest paid YouTube stars, earning a reported $10.5 million.
