Game of Thrones veteran Peter Dinklage broke the no-swearing rule during his Emmys speech and has absolutely no regrets about it.
The 50-year-old actor was accepting the award for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series on Sunday night when the expletive casually slipped out.
‘I have no idea what I’m about to say, but here we go,’ he started his acceptance speech. ‘I count myself so fortunate to be a member of a community that is all about tolerance and diversity, because no other place could I be standing on a stage like this.
‘It’s been about 10 years, all said and done, since the moment I met [GoT co-creators] Dave [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] until right now. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I knew that David and Dan were quite brilliant.’
Then came the swear: ’10 years of absolute sweat, but 10 years of the most incredible, talented, funniest motherf***ing people I’ve ever been lucky enough to work with.’
Peter pauses as the audience laugh at the swear word, to which he lightheartedly adds: ‘Hey, it’s over, I don’t care.’
He ended his speech by saying he would do it all again ‘in a heartbeat’.
Peter played the role of Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, alongside onscreen siblings Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
The acclaimed actor made history at the 2019 Emmys for the most number of Supporting actor wins, claiming his fourth in total.
In his win, he beat his fellow Game Of Thrones stars Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), as well as Better Call Saul’s Jonathan Banks and Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Kelly from House Of Cards, and Chris Sullivan from This Is Us.
Game Of Thrones also picked up the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, as well as 10 awards at the Creative Arts Emmys last week.
