Michelle Williams talked about the importance of equal pay as she accepted her award for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie at tonight’s Emmys.

The Fosse/Verdon star noted that her win was a result of a woman being treated fairly in Hollywood and unsurprisingly it stirred up a load of the positive reaction online.

‘My bosses never presumed to know better than I did about what I needed in order to do my job and honor Gwen Verdon, so I want to say thank you so much to FX and to Fox 21 studios for supporting me completely and for paying me equally,’ Michelle said.

‘They understood that when you put value into a person, it empowers that person to get in touch with their own inherent value.

‘And then where do they put that value? They put it into their work.’

Michelle continued: ‘So the next time a woman, especially a woman of colour because she stands to make 52 cents o the dollar compared to her white male counterparts, tells you what she needs in order to do her job, listen to her, believe her, because one day she might stand in front of you and say, “Thank you,” for allowing her to succeed because of her workplace environment and not in spite of it. ‘

Viewers applauded Michelle’s speech on social media, with Suits actor Patrick J Adams, commenting: ‘Where do I sign up for speech classes with Michelle Williams? #Emmy2019.’

Meanwhile, Django Unchained star Kerry Washington wrote: ‘Michelle Williams just took us to the church of women’s equality. BEAUTIFUL SPEECH.’

Michelle beat the likes of Amy Adams, Patricia Arquette, Niecy Nash, Joey King and Aunjanue Ellis to the gong tonight’s 71st annual Emmy Awards at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre.

What do the cast of Rick and Morty look like ahead of season 4?

What’s that ominous beeping noise? Picture: Adult Swim

Rick and Morty season four isn’t due out until November but luckily we’ve got plenty of rumours, theories and tidbits while we’re in a pickle.

It will be another level – a true level.

Adult Swim’s animated series has been a huge hit but fans have had to endure epic waits between seasons – with season three having ended in October 2017.

Thankfully, co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland told Entertainment Weekly the wait ‘will never be this long again’ as they’ve been ‘writing Season 5 while finishing Season 4,’

And there should be plenty more seasons to come – Adult Swim reportedly ordered a whopping 70 episodes in May 2018.

Rick And Morty season 4 first look
The first look at Rick And Morty season 4 (Picture: Adult Swim)

So what can we expect?

The fourth season will see the return of fan faves like Mr. Meeseeks but we’ll also get some brand new characters like Glootie, voiced by Taiki Waititi – who we were introduced to in a teaser scene at a San Diego Comic-Con panel in July.

Other guest stars confirmed for season four include Sam Neill, Paul Giamatti, Kathleen Turner, Matthew Broderick and Liam Cunningham but we have no idea what form their characters will take.

The new season will also be starring you … well not exactly.

The winner of a Prizeo charity contest benefitting NEXT for AUTISM and Bergen County’s United Way will be flown out to the Rick and Morty headquarters to meet the team and get ‘drawn into a future episode.’

Oh man, oh jeez indeed!

Then there’s all the plot questions we are dying to have answered.

First up, we know season four will have a season-long arc, similar to how Season 3 explored Beth and Jerry’s separation, according to Inverse.

‘We have serialized stuff we check in on now and then that’s sprinkled over the top of strong episodic episodes,’ Roiland said. ‘To fans of the show, they’re going to want to watch them in order.’

Now that parents are back together and Rick has become the black sheep of the family, the images of the mad scientist alone in the first two images to be released makes it seems likely that the new season will see him flying solo for a stretch.

Then there’s the mystery of whether Beth has been replaced by her clone – if so will the real Beth make a dramatic return to reclaim her life?

While there is no official release date for season four there has been plenty of speculation.

Deadline previously reported a screening date for September 16 at the annual Adult Swim Festival in Los Angeles, which has led Games Radar to form the educated guess that we might get a premiere on September 17.

We can’t wait to be intelligent again.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag completely wiped the floor at this year’s 71st Primetime Emmys, picking up four gongs at tonight’s ceremony.

The hit BBC series took home the accolade for Best Comedy Series, with Phoebe winning Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Harry Bradbeer being named Outstanding Director for a Comedy series.

‘This is just getting ridiculous,’ Phoebe announced as she collected her third award of the evening.

‘Fleabag started as a one-woman show at Edinburgh Festival in 2014 and the journey has been absolutely mental to get here.’

She went on to thank co-star Andrew Scott for joining the second series, telling audiences that he’s the reason for its success.

‘Season two would not have had happened or exploded in the way that it did if it were not for Andrew Scott who came into the Fleabag world as a whirlwind,’ Phoebe added.

Earlier in the evening, Phoebe accepted the award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series, and told the packed crowds: ‘Thank you so much.

‘I have something to say. I find writing really, really, hard and painful but I’d like to say thank you. The reason that I do it is this. So it’s made it all really worth it. Thank you so much.’

Tonight’s Emmys were hosted at the Microsoft Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, California, and saw Game Of Thrones take home Best Drama.

The HBO fantasy series, which picked up 10 Creative Arts Emmys last week, also came victorious in the Best Supporting Actor field with Peter Dinklage taking home the title.

Meanwhile, Jodie Comer won Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role of Villanelle in Killing Eve, and Billy Porter was crowned Leading Actor in the same category for his work in Pose.

As Jodie accepted her gong, she let loose that she didn’t invite her parents to the ceremony.

‘To my mum and dad in Liverpool, who I didn’t invite because I didn’t think it would be my time,’ the actress revealed. ‘One, I’m sorry, two, I love you.’

Elsewhere, notable moments included Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner getting rinsed by the audience as they presented an award and Kit Harington and Sophie Turner reuniting before taking their seats.

Game Of Thrones was expected to sweep the board at the Emmys this year, but out of 32 nominations the HBO series only took home two awards.

It had been given over 30 nods in seven different categories, with a whole host of the show’s stars, including Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke and Sophie Turner, receiving nominations for its eighth and final series that aired for the last time in May.

On the night, it was Peter Dinklage who came out on top as the actor, who plays Tyrion Lannister in Game Of Thrones, picked up his fourth Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Accepting his gong, Peter said in his winner’s speech: ‘I count myself so fortunate to be a member of a community that is all about tolerance and diversity, because nowhere else could I be standing on a stage like this.’

Reflecting on his time on the show, he continued: ‘It’s been about 10 years, all said and done, from the moment I met [series creators] David [Benoiff] and Dan [Weiss] till now. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I knew that David and Dan were quite brilliant.

‘We did nothing but sweat, we did nothing but laugh. Dave and Dan, we literally walked through fire and ice for you—literally—and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.’

Game Of Thrones also picked up the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, with Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke narrowly missing out on Lead Actor in A Drama Series and Lead Actress respectively.

Sophie Turner, who enjoyed a cute reunion with Kit inside the Microsoft Theatre in LA, and Maisie Williams were also nominated for their supporting roles.

Game Of Thrones, meanwhile, took home 10 awards at the Creative Arts Emmys last week, including a gong for Outstanding Special Visual Effects, Outstanding Main Title Design and Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series.

Emmys 2019: Commentator throws major shade at Felicity Huffman with savage prison joke

Felicity Huffman was roasted at tonight’s 71st Primetime Emmy Awards by commentator Thomas Lennon.

The Desperate Housewives actress, who has been sentenced to 14 days in prison for her involvement in the college admissions scandal, was poked fun at by the comedian in-between announcements.

‘The producers have asked me to give a special shout-out to any of our previous lead actress winners who are watching from prison,’ Thomas joked.

He continued:’Hopefully those two weeks are going to fly right by.’

There was a huge reaction to Thomas’s quip on social media, with one viewer writing: ‘No clue who dude is, but he delivered this Felicity Huffman joke perfectly.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘I am here for Thomas Lennon’s commentary at the #Emmys. I almost spit my drink out at that Felicity Huffman joke.’

Not everyone was impressed though, with one viewer slamming: Hey @thomaslennon, your joke about actors & actresses in jail and hoping the 2 weeks “fly by” on tonight’s @TheEmmys? Not funny. Joking about a slap on the wrist for what Felicity Huffman did is reprehensible. Shame on you.’

Felicity, who won a Primetime Emmy Award back in 2005 for her role of Lynette Scavo in Desperate Housewives, pleaded guilty to paying $15,000 (£12,000) to doctor her eldest daughter Sophia’s university entrance exams.

After being handed the sentence, Felicity said she hopes her daughters and husband can ‘forgive her for her actions’.

‘I accept the court’s decision today without reservation. I have always been prepared to accept whatever punishment Judge Talwani imposed,’ she wrote.

‘I broke the law. I have admitted that and I pleaded guilty to this crime. There are no excuses or justifications for my actions. Period.

Felicity went on: ‘I would like to apologise again to my daughter, my husband, my family and the educational community for my actions.’

Piers Morgan blames Sam Smith for Brit Awards ‘axing’ male and female categories: ‘The women will suffer’

Sam is no longer using male pronouns (Picture: AP, Invision)

Piers Morgan believes Sam Smith is to blame for the Brit Awards reportedly axing their male and female gender categories after the singer announced they are using ‘they’ and ‘them’ pronouns to describe their non-binary identity.

The Stay With Me singer came out as non-binary in March but has now confirmed they are no longer using male and female pronouns to identify themselves.

Reports have now emerged that the Brits are planning to scrap gender categories for their 2020 awards to accommodate non-binary performers like Sam.

Reacting to the news on Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, Piers described the news as ‘nonsense’ and suggested the awards bosses have been spurred on by Sam’s recent announcement.

‘I think it’s great that so much time on awards should be wrecked like this because one guy can’t decide if he’s male or female,’ Piers said.

‘They want to accommodate non-binary performers like Sam Smith, which is what I said last week, which category will he now enter? He won’t have to, he’ll now enter the non-binary categories.’

The outspoken TV presenter went on to predict that scrapping the categories will negatively impact female performers, as he believes men will still win the bulk of awards.

Piers explained: ‘I’ll tell you what will happen, it’ll be like women’s sport decimating. Women will suffer eventually.

‘I suspect what will happen is male performers will end up winning all of the awards than the women. The whole point of having the gender categories is to make it fair and equal, now we’re going the other way and that apparently is progress. I think it’s a load of nonsense.’

He continued: ‘The idea that you have change entire award categories because one guy decides one day to wake up and say I’m non-binary, it’s nonsense.’

Piers Morgan
Piers thinks the genderless categories are ‘nonsense’ (Picture: ITV)

Referring to Sam using male pronouns, Piers added: ‘All respect to him if he wants to do that, no problem. If you want to do that Sam Smith, that’s on your dime. You do what the hell you like. Don’t change everything else for you.

‘But maybe I’m wrong.’

Revealing the Brit Awards’ plans, a source told The Sun: ‘Bosses are listening to changes happening in the industry. The categories will evolve in the coming years.

‘The male and female categories will still be in place next February but changes are being planned for the following year. Organisers will be consulting labels and artists alike to work out what is best for the future of the Brits ceremony.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am.

Celebrity chef and Food Network star Carl Ruiz has died aged 44.

The Cuban-American restaurant owner passed away in his sleep on Saturday night from a suspected heart attack.

La Cubana, the restaurant he opened in June and was the executive chef of, took to Instagram to share the news about their ‘sadness at the sudden loss’.

‘On behalf of the La Cubana family, with heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to share the passing of our beloved Executive Chef Carl Ruiz,’ La Cubana lovingly wrote in the caption of a photo of Carl.

‘No words can fully express our sadness at the sudden loss of our dear friend and brother.

‘Beyond his immense culinary talent, Carl’s larger-than-life personality never failed to entertain, enlighten, and uplift every person he encountered along his #Ruizing adventures. His fierce intellect and infectious humor knew no bounds.’

‘He was a mighty force of down home Cuban cuisine, and lived life to the fullest, just as he cooked — with “dancing always” as the most important ingredient. Here at La Cubana, Carl paid proud tribute to his Cuban roots each night, and it is here that Carl’s legacy, undeniable spirit and passion for his culture will live on. We hope we make you proud, Carlito,’ the statement read.

They also took the opportunity to announce they’re honouring the celebrity chef with the establishment of a charity foundation.

La Cubana added: ‘To honour the work you loved so much Chef, La Cubana will continue your work in establishing The Carl Ruiz Scholarship Foundation for aspiring chefs.’

Carl Ruiz appeared alongside fellow celebrity chef Guy Fieri in Food Network shows such as Guy’s Grocery Games and Guy’s Ranch Kitchen.

Guy wrote on Twitter on Sunday night: ‘I’m heartbroken that my friend chef Carl Ruiz is gone. I have no words to describe what a great friend he was to me and my family. His ability to make me laugh and smile under any circumstances was only outshined by his talent as a chef.’

He then tweeted: ‘Over the years, I’ve met a lot of great people but a friend like Carl is one in a hundred million. Carl ’The Cuban’ Ruiz will forever live on in my heart and in those of all who loved him.’

Food critic Troy Johnson also shared his condolences on Twitter: ‘Good buddy of mine is gone. He made people laugh who’d forgotten how to laugh. He set rooms on fire.

‘He was the match and the kerosene. The smartest and lovable-ist asshole I knew. This one gutted me.’

Food Network’s Alex Guarnaschelli tweeted: ‘This man was somehow fatherly, comforting, wise, reckless, brilliant, wickedly funny & unique all in 1. My life will be lonelier without him. Love you Carl. I’ll make sure no one puts pineapple on pizza best I can without you here.

Peter Dinklage has ended his reign on Game Of Thrones on a high by setting the record for most number of Supporting Actor wins for his role as Tyrion Lannister.

The actor picked up the gong last night at the annual swanky awards bash for the second year in a row, and fourth time overall for the same part.

In his win, he beat his fellow Game Of Thrones stars Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), as well as Better Call Saul’s Jonathan Banks and Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Kelly from House Of Cards, and Chris Sullivan from This Is Us.

In his acceptance speech, Peter thanked the ‘talented motherf***ers’ that helped shape the show, admitting he had ‘no idea what he was getting himself into’ but he would ‘do it again in a heartbeat’.

He broke the no-swearing rule at the ceremony as he told the audience: ‘10 years of absolute sweat, but 10 years of the most incredible, talented, funniest motherf***ers.

Knowing he would then get in trouble, he shrugged it off and declared: ‘Hey, it’s over. I don’t care!’

‘We did nothing but sweat, we did nothing but laugh. Dave [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], we’d literally walk through fire and ice for you,’ Peter continued.

‘I would do it all again in a heartbeat.’

Game Of Thrones also picked up Outstanding Drama Series at the event, winning 12 Emmys overall this year for the last season of the fantasy epic.

Sophie Turner, who enjoyed a cute reunion with Kit Harington inside the Microsoft Theatre in LA, was also nominated for her supporting role, as well as Maisie Williams.

The show took home 10 awards at the Creative Arts Emmys last week, including a gong for Outstanding Special Visual Effects, Outstanding Main Title Design and Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series.

Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke were both nominated for the lead actor/actress gongs respectively as well, but missed out.

In a final goodbye to the series, Dave Benioff, one of the showrunners on the series, said: ‘These last 10 years have been the best years of our lives and for everyone who worked on it, I can’t believe we finished it — and I can’t believe we did it.

‘We did it all together and it’s over and we shall never see your like again.’

Craig Revel Horwood threatens to leave Strictly if bosses force him to tone down scathing comments

Craig Revel Horwood will walk out of Strictly Come Dancing if the BBC force him to tone down his scathing comments.

The original judge has not got over the fact he had to apologise to last year’s winner Stacey Dooley, 32, during the filming of the first episode.

‘Every year I get told to tone it down and I don’t listen. Of course I won’t be toning it down this year,’ he told The Sun.

‘I’m going to be just like I’ve been for 16 years. I’m not changing for anyone, if that’s the case I’d rather not judge it. It will never work darling, I’ve got too much of a big mouth.’

He’s got a point.

What would the show be without his cutting comments?

Last year, Stacey began a relationship with her professional partner Kevin Clifton following their 2018 Glitterball win.

The other dancers were reportedly furious after they heard the comment (Picture: BBC)

Craig was also caught on tape saying: ‘Stacey was dragged up from the dance gutter, of course, if you sleep with your dance partner that helps.’

He did later apologise for his remarks, but it feels like he’s now back packed to the brim with snarky comments and we can’t wait for them.

It’s said during a taping of the dance programme on Saturday night, ahead of its 7 September premiere, the panellist admitted he made a ‘huge error’ in his quip and regretted the jibe.

‘I’m deeply sorry for the offence caused to Kevin and Stacey and everyone who works on the show,’ he later said, according to The Sun.

‘I recognise that what I said was hurtful, cruel and incredibly disrespectful. It was a huge error of judgment that I very much regret.’

However, this did result in this year’s celebrity stars being unhappy with the 54-year-old.

Now it’s been alleged some cast members are calling for the judge to step down, wondering how he can impartially comment on the dancers following his statement.

‘The cast thinks it’s completely unprofessional and rude, given his massive pay packet and position of power,’ a source told The Sun in the wake of the comment.

‘They don’t understand how he can fairly judge now.’

It comes after his comments caused the BBC One show to halt filming for a period, according to previous reports.

Strictly returned on Saturday night, with last minute signing Kelvin Fletcher topping the leaderboard with his samba with Oti Mabuse.

Game Of Thrones’ season 8 finale has been watched by millions across the world as we said goodbye to Westeros forever…but leading man Kit Harington isn’t one of them.

The actor, who played Jon Snow on the HBO/Sky fantasy epic, revealed backstage at the Emmys 2019 that he still can’t bring himself to watch the final season.

Picking up the award for Outstanding Drama Series at the awards ceremony last night, Kit was quizzed about the controversial ending to the show, which divided fans so much that $1million (£800,000) was raised in a bid to change the entire final season.

But Kit revealed that it didn’t bother him because he didn’t know what he was defending.

He told the crowd: ‘I still haven’t seen the show. So that’s how I dealt with that controversy.’

Confirming that he hadn’t seen any of the final season at all, Kit then added: ‘I know what it took to shoot it. It was hard and everyone put all of their love and effort into it.’

‘For us, we knew what we were doing was right, story wise,’ the star continued. ‘We knew it was right for the characters because we lived with them for 10 years.’

Game Of Thrones took home two Emmys at last night’s ceremony, taking their total Emmy win for this year up to 12 overall.

Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion on the show, set a new record with his win in Best Supporting Actor in a Drama – as it was his fourth overall and second consecutively.

Kit was lined up in the Best Actor in a Drama, but lost out to Billy Porter, who made history as the first openly gay black man to take home the gong ever thanks to his role in Pose.

At the event Kit was seen beaming as he reunited with Sophie Turner, who played on-screen sister Sansa Stark, inside the Microsoft Theatre in LA.

She was also nominated for her supporting role, as well as Maisie Williams.

The LA ceremony was dominated by British acts and performers with Fleabag and Phoebe Waller-Bridge leading the pack.

Combined with the Creative Emmys, which took place last week, Game Of Thrones took home 12 awards, and Chernobyl 10.

Game Of Thrones is available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.

Billy Porter just made history as the first openly gay black man to win an Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.

The 50-year-old star of Ryan Murphy’s hit show Pose literally danced for joy while making his way up to the stage to collect his award on Sunday night.

Pose spotlights New York City’s ballroom culture scene in the 80s and 90s, featuring groundbreaking LGBTQ+ representation.

Channeling his Pose character, Pray Tell started his speech with a bang: ‘The category is: Love!’

Billy then quoted novelist James Baldwin: ‘It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.’

He went on to thank a whole host of people who helped him get to where he is today, including his manager of 29 years, mother, sister, husband, FX, his fellow Pose cast and the show’s creator Ryan Murphy.

He then added: ‘We as the artists are the people that can change the molecular structure of the hearts and minds of the people who live on this planet. Please don’t ever stop doing that. Please don’t ever stop telling the truth!’

Billy began his career in theatre, appearing in Broadway shows like Grease, Kinky Boots, Smokey Joe’s Cafe and Five Guys Named Moe.

He has been married to his partner Adam Porter-Smith since 2017. The pair met in 2009 at a dinner party for a mutual friend.

The 2019 Emmys proved very successful for writer and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, picking up four wins.

The hit-BBC series took home the accolade for Best Comedy Series, with Phoebe winning Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Harry Bradbeer being named Outstanding Director for a Comedy series.

‘This is just getting ridiculous,’ Phoebe announced as she collected her third award of the evening.

‘Fleabag started as a one-woman show at Edinburgh Festival in 2014 and the journey has been absolutely mental to get here.’

This year’s award show also saw Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage setting a new record with a landmark Emmy win, Michelle Williams giving an empowering speech on women’s equality, as well as epic shade directed at Kendall and Kylie Jenner and Felicity Huffman.

Pamela Anderson believes Julian Assange’s ‘life is at risk’ and he’s ‘unhealthy’ in Belmarsh Prison

Pamela Anderson has once again called for Julian Assange’s release from prison, claiming the whistleblower’s ‘life is at risk’.

WikiLeaks founder Assange was arrested in April and is currently awaiting trial in Belmarsh Prison after failing to surrender to the court while in the Ecuadorian embassy.

Baywatch star Pamela has been outspoken in defending her close friend, and says he is ‘unhealthy’ in the prison.

‘He needs to be set free… He was right seeking asylum because everything he said would happen, happened,’ Pamela said on Good Morning Britain.

Recalling her recent visit to Belmarsh Prison, Pamela told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid via video link: ‘I visited him in Belmarsh and it’s not a place you want to go visit.

‘Especially a place you don’t want to leave one of your dear friends. I care a great deal about Julian and he’s been psychologically tortured, that’s been talked about in the UN.’

In May, a UN expert said Assange was showing symptoms associated with extensive exposure to psychological torture living in Belmarsh Prison.

Applauding Assange for releasing secret documents via WikiLeaks, Pamela said: ‘I just want people to understand that this is a good person who has dedicated himself to telling the truth to the public which we deserve to know.

‘Exposing war crimes and the people he’s exposed haven’t faced any penalty. But he’s sitting in prison because there are obviously more stories to keep.’

The 52-year-old went on to praise what she says is Assange’s true character, adding: ‘He’s just a fantastic guy, I saw him, he hugged me and picked me up off the ground. He’s still this testament of human spirit.

‘But he is unhealthy there.’

She added: ‘It’s not that he didn’t face the music, he sought asylum which he should because his life is at risk. The whole time they’ve put him in prison, they’re going to keep him there until the extradition hearing.

‘I think he should come to Canada.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Pamela addressed the 30th anniversary of Baywatch and credited her vegan lifestyle for not having aged since the show was on TV.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.

In case you somehow missed it this weekend, the Friends fandom were out in force with the celebration of the show’s 25th anniversary – so why would the cast be any different?

Courteney Cox reunited with her old co-star and fellow Friend Lisa Kudrow for a day together to mark the show’s landmark date, but they added a few new friends into the mix.

Singer Charlie Puth joined the pair for a alongside comedy director Judd Apatow, with Judd taking on photography duties and sharing a pretty toasty snap through a fire.

Lisa shared the photo with the jokey caption: ‘So excited to celebrate we burst into flames. Photo credit to @juddapatow #friends25

Judd, who produced films including Superbad, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, later jumped in for a snap with the leading ladies as well, which Courteney posted on her Instagram.

‘Trying to play it cool with all this heat. #friends25’ she joked.

Judd’s actress daughter Iris said it best when she wrote underneath it: ‘This photo is intimidating.’

You’re telling us!

It’s definitely an odd combo, but definitely one we can get behind…how about a cheeky project together? Can we cross our fingers and hope?

Friends’ 25th anniversary has brought about all sorts of nostalgia this weekend for 90s kids, with the cast marking the moment with a series of social posts.

With celebrations across the UK and the rest of the world, we’ve been doing a deep dive into everything that makes the show special.

After all, it can actually be good for your mental health, and with so many characters to wonder what happen to, we can’t help but come up with our own theories.

As cheesy as it sounds, it really is always there for us.

Friends airs on Comedy Central and streams on Netflix in the UK.

Strictly Come Dancing’s James Cracknell opened up about his fears an exhausting dance training schedule could trigger his epilepsy.

The 47-year-old British rowing gold medalist revealed his medical condition may end up causing him problems if he’s pushed too hard while dancing with partner Luba Mushtuk.

Talking to The Sun on Sunday, he said: ‘Some people get epilepsy from strobe lighting but not me.

‘I don’t want to worry Luba but mine is set off by fatigue. When I’ve had a seizure it’s been because of not sleeping.’

James said he wants to help dispel the stigma around epilepsy and talking openly about it is one way to do that.

Epilepsy comes with a bit of a stigma,’ he said. ‘One of the drawbacks is that it’s a hidden disability.

‘I think it’s important for anyone who has a profile to get other people to understand it.’

James and Luba received just 11 points for their tango during the premiere episode of Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night, placing them on the very bottom of the leader board among 14 other celebrities.

Judges heavily critiqued the rowing champion’s performance, calling his posture ‘hunched’, his energy low and his facial expressions stiff.

Bruno Tonioli reviewed the performance: ‘At times, it looked like you were concentrating so hard on getting it right you were dancing on your own. Next time perform it. Deep breath, come out and wow us.’

James previously opened up about how the celebrities ‘rip on each other’ in a Strictly group chat.

He revealed: ‘Having been involved in sport it’s much more cut-throat in that sense.’

Asked if there was any fightin’ talk involved, he said: ‘Naturally! We’re ripping each other apart but in a very nice way.’

Chernobyl definitely won’t get season 2 despite Emmys win

Chernobyl was a critical smash (Picture: Sky UK Ltd/HBO)

It may have won big at the Emmys last night, but bosses have confirmed that there will be no follow-up to Chernobyl.

The five-part TV series – which followed the tragic events of the world’s biggest nuclear disaster in Soviet Ukraine 1986 – took home 10 wins overall at last night’s ceremony, but the series’ boss has said there won’t be a series two.

According to Deadline, Chernobyl’s writer and executive producer Craig Mazin said backstage at the event: ‘We will not be doing that.’

‘We told a story of a place in time and we did it pretty darn well, and it’s time to start thinking about other places and other times…’ he explained. ‘Whatever we look at, whether it’s fiction or based on history, it’s relevant to who we are now and what we’re facing.’

Despite the show being set over thirty years ago, he also spoke about how relevant it feels today.

‘For me as a writer, I became a lot more connected with how similar we all are,’ he said. ‘Even two traditional enemies. In 1986 and 2019 it’s not that different. The problems then are the same problems now. The consequences now are similar, if not worse.’

Chernobyl episode 4
Chernobyl took home an impressive ten awards (Picture: Sky)

Accepting the award onstage, Mazin also thanked the country of Lithuania, where the show was filmed, and spoke about the importance of storytelling in speaking about real-world events.

‘I hope that in some small way our show has helped remind people of the value of the truth and the danger of the lie,’ he said. ‘We can make stories be known and that’s an incredible power and responsibility for all of us.’

Chernobyl was up for an impressive 19 nominations and won in 10 categories, including Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special and Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited Series or Movie.

Piers Morgan’s brother stranded in Thomas Cook meltdown and ‘put up in some terrible place’

Piers Morgan has revealed his brother had been caught up abroad after the Thomas Cook airline collapse, and forced to stay in ‘some terrible place’.

Around 600,000 people travelling on their holidays, including 150,000 Brits, have been left stranded after the airline buckled over the weekend.

During Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, Piers revealed his older brother Jeremy Morgan and his young daughter were unable to fly home from their holiday in Greece.

‘My [older] brother was caught up in this in Skiathos. They had flown with Thomas Cook, the flight was cancelled,’ Piers said on Monday.

‘Him and his other half and their four year old girl were at the airport until midnight and then put up in some terrible place overnight.

‘But apparently they were the lucky ones, other people weren’t getting anywhere. Thomas Cook staff were apparently in tears. Total and utter chaos.’

https://www.instagram.com/p/Byc9uYNnurF/?utm_source=ig_embed

Fortunately, the family was able to travel back the following day, according to Piers who revealed: ‘They did of course get back late the following day, but this is happening all over the place with Thomas Cook flights.’

Confirming the collapse in a statement, the syndicate of Thomas Cook’s lenders said: ‘Unfortunately, and notwithstanding the efforts of all stakeholders, the £1.1 billion funding requirement to adequately recapitalise Thomas Cook has ultimately proved too significant…

‘Obviously, the Lenders are deeply disappointed that it has not proved possible to rescue Thomas Cook. In partnership with other stakeholders, the Lenders worked tirelessly to examine all options within the timeframe required.’

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) also said: ‘Thomas Cook Group, including the UK tour operator and airline, has ceased trading with immediate effect. ‘All Thomas Cook bookings, including flights and holidays, have now been cancelled.’

When They See Us star Jharrel Jerome made a powerful speech as he became the first ever Afro-Latino, and youngest ever actor, to win an Emmy Award.

The 21-year-old actor took home the win for Outstanding Lead Actor in A Limited Series for his role on the Netflix drama centred on the true crime case of the Exonerated Five (formerly known as the Central Park Five).

In the film, he played Korey Wise, who along with four other young black men was falsely convicted of the brutal rape and attack of a woman in New York’s Central Park.

Receiving a standing ovation from the crowd as he was announced the winner of the award by Angela Bassett, Jharrel was joined by his mum who sat proudly in the crowd.

Jharrel took the moment to celebrate his landmark win, and teared up when he joked on stage: ‘I feel like I should be in the Bronx right now, waiting for my mum’s cooking or something.’

On the importance of his win, he later said backstage: ‘It’s an honour. It’s a blessing, and I hope this is a step forward for Dominicans, for Latinos, for Afro-Latinos. It’s about time we are here.’

All five of the Exonerated Five were in attendance at the ceremony, with Korey Wise, Antron McCay, Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson and Yusef Salaam standing beside showrunner Ava DuVernay.

In his winners’ speech, he paid mention to them as they stood up and applauded him.

‘I felt like I was in a championship game, and we went through our final hurrah,’ he said.

‘Thirty years ago they were sitting in a prison cell, falsely incarcerated, and today they’re in suits styled by designers for the Emmys.’

The Emmys 2019 proved to have a series of historical moments, especially for people of colour.

As well as Jharrel Jerome taking home a win, Billy Porter became the first, openly gay, black man to win the Best Actor in a Drama award at the ceremony.

During his poignant win, he said: ‘‘We as the artists are the people that can change the molecular structure of the hearts and minds of the people who live on this planet.

Fan favourite Fleabag won big at the Emmy awards this weekend after scooping not one but three accolades over the course of the ceremony.

The BBC show, which is the brainchild of actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge who writes and stars in the comedy, took home Emmys for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series. Phoebe was also won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Fleabag is the first British-made show to ever win an Emmy for Best Comedy Series. Despite the show’s success however, Phoebe has ruled out making another season of Fleabag – or at least not until the 34-year-old turns 50.

So what is Fleabag about and if you want to watch (or re-watch) the show, how can you watch the series?

What is Fleabag about?

Fleabag, played by Phoebe, is a woman living in London trying to navigate life whilst dealing with the perils of love and the pain of tragedy. The show follows her dysfunctional family relationships and questionable romantic choices, with Fleabag turning to talk to the viewer directly during the episodes, drawing them into her hilarious and chaotic world.

‘Meet Fleabag. She’s not talking to all of us – she’s talking to you. So why don’t you pop your top off and come right in?’ the bio for Fleabag reads on the BBC website.

Sorry, this video isn't available any more.

Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman stars alongside Phoebe as selfish and villainous character Godmother, while Sian Clifford has won praise for her performance as Claire, Fleabag’s neurotic sister.

Arriving with much acclaim in season two was actor Andrew Scott who plays a character simply known as The Priest. He was quickly dubbed ‘Hot Priest’ by fans of the show thanks to his role in the show.

Where can you watch Fleabag?

Good news, Fleabag fans and Fleabag fans-to-be! The BBC show is available to stream in its entirety online.

Fleabag season one first aired on July 21 2016 and season two returned to our screens this year on March 4.

All episodes of Fleabag seasons one and two can be viewed on BBC iPlayer – but you better be quick.

The first season is only available for another two months, whereas the second season will be on iPlayer for another six months.

Fleabag series one and two are available on BBC iPlayer.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield host ITV show This Morning

If you’re switching on ITV today in anticipation of catching Phillip and Holly on This Morning, you’re going to be disappointed.

That’s because the show’s not on today in its usual daytime 10.30am slot – and today’s not the only day this week it’s missing from the schedules.

So just what is going on, when is This Morning back – and which other days won’t it be on this week?

Here’s what you need to know.

Why isn’t This Morning on today?

Your usual This Morning fix is absent from the airwaves as today Phillip and Holly are taking a back seat to ITV’s live coverage of the Rugby World Cup.

As the tournament is taking place in Japan, the time difference means that the majority of matches are being shown in the morning here – hence the disruption to the daytime schedules.

Monday sees them showing the clash between Wales and Georgia, with coverage on ITV from 10.25am and kick off at 11.15am UK time.

This runs until the ITV lunchtime news at 1.30pm – meaning that Loose Women has also been booted from the Monday schedules.

When is This Morning back?

The good news is that the show is only off air for one day, returning on Tuesday morning at the normal time of 10.30am.

However there’s more disruption to come as the rugby continues, with This Morning once again shelved on Thursday as ITV shows the clash between England and USA.

Further matches will follow next Monday, 30 September, and on Thursday 3 October, meaning even more breaks for the show.

When does the Rugby World Cup finish?

The final of the Rugby World Cup is due to take place on Saturday 2 November – with matches continuing throughout October.

All of which means you can expect more changes to your daytime line-up in the coming weeks – so keep those eyes glued to the schedules.
