Chris Hughes and his brother Ben to star in BBC Three documentary on testicular cancer (Picture: BBC)
Love Island’s Chris Hughes is about to embark on the most important milestone of his career, fronting a new BBC Three documentary alongside his brother on testicular cancer, aptly titled Me, My Brother and Our Balls.
Last year Chris famously had a testicular examination live on This Morning and was hailed a champ by thousands of fans with a YouTube clip of the 26-year-old’s procedure being viewed more than 35 million times.
While the reality star’s bravery undoubtedly spurred on thousands of men to follow in his footsteps, no one could have predicted what would happen next. His older brother Ben checked himself for the first time, found a lump and was soon diagnosed with testicular cancer.
Ben then went to have his sperm frozen before having the testicle removed only to learn the sample contained no sperm at all. Subsequently, both brothers were confronted with having fertility issues, which has increasingly become a huge issue for millions of men.
Studies show western men’s sperm count has halved over the past four decades, without any scientific explanation.
Chris starred in girlfriend Jesy Nelson’s recent BBC documentary shaming online trolls (Picture; BBC)
‘What started as an attempt to shed light on an issue that affects so many men turned into an incredibly personal journey for me and my family and has brought me even closer to my brother, Ben,’ revealed Chris.
‘I also learned things about male fertility that really surprised me, so hopefully people will find the documentary educational. Fertility is often a subject that guys don’t consider until it might be too late, so I’m hoping this documentary will raise awareness and help men who might be struggling with these issues.’
Me, My Brother and Our Balls is expected to air on BBC Three later this year.

The Orange Is The New Black star had also been slammed for ‘not being lesbian enough’ (Picture: CW)
Ruby Rose has hit out at critics of the upcoming Batwoman adaptation, reminding everyone that there are ‘plenty of shows for white old men’.
The Orange Is The New Black star had also been slammed for ‘not being lesbian enough’ to play the first LGBTQ lead in a live-action superhero series but the 33-year-old star has reminded fans that ‘the show is not about a gay superhero, it’s about a superhero’.
‘Some people might not see themselves on the screen and therefore not see the point. But there’s obviously plenty of shows for people like that. There’s plenty of shows for white old men,’ the outspoken actress said.
‘Her being gay, it’s definitely part of who she is, and it’s definitely part of the story and establishing why she’s not in the military anymore.
‘But the show is not about a gay superhero. It’s about a superhero.’
Ruby identifies as a lesbian and is also gender fluid (Picture: Rex)
She went on to admit she didn’t know how to fix anyone’s concerns but she didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes.
‘Maybe I need to make up another term, one that doesn’t step on any toes. One where I can be fluid in my gender, but also a lesbian, because otherwise I’m not sure what I am,’ she said.
The highly anticipated series will see Rose star as Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne’s total badass and fellow bat fan cousin.
DC Comics have a stronghold on the small screen when it comes to inclusivity and diversity (Picture: The CW)
Shadowhunters star Katherine McNamara has been confirmed for a new ‘female-centric’ addition to TV’s Arrowverse, with the spin-off focusing on Mia Smoak, Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak’s daughter.
A spin-off has been floated by fans ever since Mia entered the scene in season six and her character’s identity was revealed in season seven, but the news also proves that DC Comics have a smart and exciting stronghold on the small screen when it comes to inclusivity and diversity – and it may be time for Marvel to take a long hard look at themselves.
At any given moment on our TVs right now comic book fans have a wealth of stories to enjoy, with eight DC Universe shows on the air, two of which have female leads (Supergirl, Doom Patrol), and three with women front and centre alongside the men (Arrow, Black Lightning, Titans).
With Arrow ending after a 10-episode run in late 2019, the spin-off is expected to be introduced via a backdoor pilot that will be incorporated into the ongoing plot of the long-running series and move the focus to Mia, along with Katie Cassidy Rodgers, who plays Laurel Lance, and Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake.
Batwoman, starring Ruby Rose, will also fly on to screens to add to the diversity, while in early 2020 Brec Bassinger’s Stargirl is expected to arrive.
That will bring the count of DC Universe shows up to 10 on air with four featuring female leads, and seven with woman part of the main A plots.
Kat McNamara will have her own solo show focusing on Mia Smoak (Picture: The CW)
Compare this to Marvel, who has been owning the big-screen box office for 11 years thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but decided to also take those long 11 years to bring audiences the first female superhero – Captain Marvel.
The studio has also only had one female-centric TV show in Netflix’s Jessica Jones, which ended earlier in 2019.
The upcoming launch of Disney+ will see more women hit the screen in Marvel stories, with planned series focusing on Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Ms Marvel and She-Hulk, with the latter two yet to be cast.
The Hawkeye series will also involve Clint Barton passing the mantle of Hawkeye to the character Kate Bishop, although it has yet to be confirmed how quickly or indeed if that will be the largest part of the story.
Not all of the DC Comics shows are available on traditional TV models (Picture: The CW)
Not all of the DC Comics shows are available on traditional TV models; Doom Patrol, Titans and Stargirl are, or will be, airing on DC Universe, the company’s online streaming service.
But the rest are firmly settled at The CW which has in the last five years become one of the most inclusive places on television.
Not only is it leading the way for gender diversity, but also race and sexuality.
The team behind Supergirl cast Mehcad Brooks as James ‘Jimmy’ Olsen – a traditionally white character – in the show.
In The Flash, Barry’s adoptive family were cast as African-American despite being white in the comics, and this blind casting added extra layers of complexity to both of these shows.
Every show in the DC Universe also now has an LGBTQ+ character (Picture: The CW)
Every show in the DC Universe also now has an LGBTQ+ character with their sexuality simply part of them and never treated as out of the ordinary.
They are dating, having sex, falling in love, falling out of love, and getting married like any other character.
‘When it’s a young show or you’re a new showrunner, you’re scared,’ Greg Berlanti, the man behind the Arrowverse and many of the DC Comics hitting the small screen, previously said of diversity.
‘We’ve been able to change that a bit, and hopefully, we’ll have female directors across a lot of the DC superhero shows over the next couple of years who can go on and do superhero films and get other action jobs.’
It works: Caroline Dries has gone from Arrow to Batwoman, Supergirl’s Ali Adler now have a deal with CBS, while Arrow showrunner and executive producer Beth Schwartz will now be working on the pilot for Kat McNamara’s spin-off alongside Jill Blankenship.
Marvel has a lot of catching up to do because as Kat McNamara’s female-centric Arrow spin-off proves, DC Comics is one of the most inclusive places on TV.
Jason Isaacs has urged fans not to give up (Picture: Netflix)
The OA has been one of the most wickedly haunting pieces of science fiction to hit our screens since forever, and Netflix’s controversial decision to axe the show has been harrowing for both fans and Jason Isaacs himself.
Netflix left us all hanging at the edge of our seats with our hearts beating out of our chest when season two of the supernatural drama came to an end and we all thought it would be a matter of time before we got the answers we needed.
That wasn’t the case, clearly.
After the streaming platform cancelled the cult-classic series, people reacted with raw emotions in hopes of saving the show the same way Sense8 got their closure as a film and Brooklyn Nine-Nine got a whole new network, thus birthing the hashtag #SaveTheOA .
A Save The OA billboard in Times Square marking the latest attempt to change the streaming giant bosses’ minds was erected and Jason – who plays Dr. Hap – was in New York to witness all of it.
‘We’re all incredibly moved and thrilled that the story is so powerful,’ the 56-year-old exclusively told Metro.co.uk .
‘And those characters and their humanity has touched people so much that there is a movement.
‘I’ve met some of the people who did it. I was in New York and there was a flash mob and a billboard and a blimp. It’s incredibly touching. I love the story, I think it’s a really powerful, special, really unique story.’
‘He falls in love with one of them and hopes she can step outside the situation and love him back’ (Picture: Netflix)
In a way, Jason and the entire team behind the incredible series are relying on fans to use their voices to bring back such a meaningful work of art.
Even if Netflix stand by their decision, know that Jason and every one part of the show is listening.
‘I don’t know if we’ll get to carry on. All of us are very moved by the fan movement. If you can make it happen, if we get to make more we’ll be thrilled! But obviously we can’t be part of it,’ he continued.
The show focuses on a previously blind Prairie (Brit Marling) returned to her adoptive parents with her eyesight intact after being missing for seven years – telling a small group the story of how she was kidnapped by scientist Dr. Hunter Aloysius ‘Hap’ Percy (Jason Isaacs).
Despite all the torture and chaos Prairie and her fellow captives go through, Jason doesn’t believe Hap is anywhere near evil.
‘He’s not evil at all. Hap is a guy who can change the entire world where no one will ever have to die again,’ he said.
‘In order to do that, he’s got to do stuff that’s so deeply unpleasant and he knows it.’
Jason perfected playing unlawful characters (Picture: Netflix)
We can tell the actor – who currently stars in the tragic true story Hotel Mumbai – is just as passionate about Dr. Hap and The OA (if not more) as his fans are, and it’s encouraging to witness this push for the return of The OA be backed by the magnificent people who brought it to life.
‘I’m the number one fan,’ he had said. ‘It’s one of the most beautiful things I have ever done.’
Meanwhile, Jason portrays Russian high-roller Vasili in the new Hotel Mumbai about the 2008 Mumbai attacks and not only were we impressed by his foreign accent, we got the chance to witness a chaotically neutral Vasili commit selfless acts for the other hostages around him.
The star also revealed that the families involved in the attacks asked for the violence not to be sugarcoated, explaining that the movie is about the ‘quiet heroism’ shown by the staff and visitors at the Taj Hotel during the attacks.
‘He’s a guy who surprises himself. I’m pretty sure he would’ve never imagined before it begins how it would play out,’ Jason said.
Hotel Mumbai is a Sky Original Film, in cinemas and on Sky Cinema from 27 September.

Poor Ellen DeGeneres should have called in sick as she revealed she injured her neck and couldn’t turn her head.
Hugs for Ellen.
The daytime telly host appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week on a pair of crutches before throwing the aids away and admitting she did hurt her neck.
But has no dang idea how she managed to do it.
‘I felt like there was a rod going down my back and I thought, “Well, if I just ignore it, it would go away,” like a toothache or global warming,’ she said on yesterday’s show.
The host then asked her audience if they wanted to know how she hurt her neck: ‘So do I. I have no idea.’
Teasing she ‘spent the morning watching tennis and then the afternoon bird watching and then at night we did the hula-hooping on our necks,’ the actor admitted ‘nothing about her was straight’ after visiting her chiropractor.

‘He said my feet don’t point in the right direction. One leg is longer than the other. My shoulders are humped. My hips are uneven,’ she continued. ‘Basically, he said nothing about me is straight.’
In a reality check for most of us, Ellen went on to point out how we take our bodies for granted.
‘Most of us are doing things that are bad for our bodies. We’re always looking down at our phones, so we sit too much,’ she said.
‘We don’t realise, though, how fragile our bodies are.’
Well, thanks Ellen, now we do.
She added: ‘Our body is like a string of Christmas lights and one light goes out, the whole string goes out and it gets into a tiny, crazy knot in the back of your head that you can’t untangle and you’re in so much pain that you just want to get lit.’
Still, the presenter was on the mend, as she said she was ‘loosening up as the day goes on’, to the high-pitched cheers of the audience.
Keeping a sense of humour about the whole thing, Ellen took to Twitter after the show as she wrote: ‘A pain in the neck is a real pain in the neck.’

An intimacy expert revealed that she sits on the bed as her clients have sex on today’s episode of This Morning.
Camilla Constance joined Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to talk about how she offers couples help with reconnecting and sometimes joins them in the bedroom to give them pointers.
Admitting that she perches herself ‘very often at the end of the bed’, Camilla explained: ‘I’m quite hippyish but I’ll sit cross-legged. I love holding the space for a couple.’
‘Do you just hold the space or do you hold anything else?’ quizzed Phil.
‘I hold the space and sometimes I will show people how to touch,’ Camilla replied.

Phil asked: ‘Do you find that because you’re sitting on the end of the bed that they act in a different way? Like either, it makes them shy or they get off on the fact there’s a third person there?’
‘Obviously I change the dynamic because I’m a different energy,’ Camilla answered.
‘Do you get off on it yourself?’ Phil probed.
‘Nope, never,’ Camilla said. ‘No, I get utterly delighted and thrilled by people reconnecting.
‘When I help a couple move from an unhappy place to togetherness and intimacy and having that connection again, you can feel it in the energy.
‘That just makes me so happy.’
Sadly Holly and Phil ran out of time with Camilla much to their annoyance, but they’ve invited her to come back on again.
‘Oh my gosh, we’ve got so many questions but we’ve got to stop,’ Holly said. ‘You’ve got to come back because we’ve got more things to ask you.’
‘Come back, definitely come back,’ she added.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

Stath Lets Flats is one of the funniest and oddly heartwarming shows on telly right now, so we’re gutted series two has come to an end.
But thankfully, creator and star Jamie Demetriou has shared a series two blooper reel to keep us going.
And let’s face it, blooper reels are the best part of any show or movie.
Director Tom Kingsley compiled the best bloopers and outtakes from the last series of Stath Lets Flats, and it will definitely give you a giggle, while leaving ‘he’s licking a DVD’ running around your head for days.
Stath Lets Flats follows Greek-Cypriot letting agent Stath (Demetriou) attempting to, well, let flats, alongside his dad Vasos (Christos Stergioglou), sister Sophie (Jamie’s real life sister Natasia Demetriou) and best friend Al (Al Roberts).
He’s licking a DVD (Picture: Channel 4)
The absurd show has gained a cult following, with Jamie, 31, telling The Guardian: ‘Part of the challenge from the beginning was: how can I make this bad idea good? I don’t like the idea of a sitcom about a lettings agency, I really don’t.
‘But then I once made a short about a guy turning into a car, and I think that’s the worst idea ever. But I also think, what’s more impressive than a really good idea done well? A really bad idea done well.’
Well, it did very well, as after the first six-episode run, Stath Lets Flats was commissioned for a second series.
Fiona McDermott, Head of Comedy at Channel 4, said: ‘We did originally say no to this. But he just kept turning up, trying to get into the building. Sometimes it’s just easier to give in isn’t it?
Series two has wrapped up (Picture: Channel 4)
‘In all seriousness, we’re thrilled to back Jamie and this gem of a show again.’
Jamie added: ‘I would formally like to announce that series 2 MIGHT be about Stath and Peter Andre trying to make it in Miami.’
That sadly did not happen, so we’re going to have to hope series three is commissioned so we can see that happen.
Jamie confirmed there’s no word on series three just yet, tweeting after Monday night’s finale: ‘Stath2 has gone out, so the promo tweets will 😴 now. But while there’s breath in my fingers… THANKS so much to everyone who’s watched it & been nice. To the godly team behind it. And to the heavenly cast- Hearing you read the scripts has been the sweetest kiss of my sexy life.
‘Also here are some answers to some Stath FAQs… No news about a series 3 as of yet. I too loved the old titles.
‘Songs are scripted, apart from Sophie & Katia’s M&E song (S2 Ep1) which genius Tash & Ellie improvised. Yes Al did play Rodney in TV’s Only Fools & horses.’
Stath Lets Flats series one and two are available to watch on All4.

*Warning: This article contains spoilers from episode four of The Capture.
The Capture finally raised the most important question which went straight over DI Rachel Carey’s (played by Holliday Granger) head: who was Hannah Roberts?
Since the barrister vanished into thin air we’ve discovered nothing about her – other than she’s now dead and was bundled into the back of Shaun Emery’s (Callum Turner) best friend’s car in what we can assume was an elaborate stitch-up.
Rachel has been suspended after coming closer to the truth behind this case than DSU Gemma Garland (Lia Williams) or Frank Napier (Ron Perlman) were comfortable with, and discovering along the way that her lover Danny Hart (Ben Mills) may have been involved in tampering with evidence against Shaun this entire time.
Finally, it felt like we could breathe as Shaun found refuge with a mysterious teen called Alma (Adelayo Adedayo), who led the soldier to a London rave where he was reunited with his former lawyer Charlie Hall (Barry Ward), seemingly the leader of a group of vigilantes who had been awaiting the fugitive’s arrival.
But who is this group and what do they want with Shaun? Well, presumably we’re about to find out next week as first look photos reveal the aftermath of that cliffhanger and promise the return of a familiar face.
Hannah Roberts returns – but how?
Hannah Roberts’ past will unravel in The Capture episode 5 (Picture: BBC)
Who was Hannah Roberts? (Picture: BBC)
Next week Hannah (Laura Haddock) will be making an appearance, her first since she disappeared in episode one. While she’s been suspended, Rachel’s next chapter will likely see the detective trying to piece together who Hannah really was and why, as a Human Rights lawyer, she was defending a solider in the first place.
After last night’s closing moments, there’s clearly more to Hannah than we initially knew. Was she part of the group lead by her former colleagues Charlie? Of course she was, but what part she played will only become clearer next week.
Another photo shows Rachel in what appears to be Hannah’s flat. What will she find? Or will someone find her?
Rachel Carey goes on the hunt for clues in Hannah’s flat (Picture: BBC)
Shaun Emery is bloodied and on the run
Shaun is still on the run next week, but he’s picked up a nasty wound somewhere along the way. What’s more, he appears to be surrounded by a pack of totally disinterested teen clubbers paying absolutely no attention to the man with blood running down his face, arms in the air.
Shaun Emery’s got a new wound on The Capture (Picture: BBC)
Where is Shaun? (Picture: BBC)
Last we saw of Shaun it appeared he’s finally found safety, but his battle scar says otherwise.
Can Charlie’s group be trusted? Has Shaun got his suspicions or is he now drowning in his own paranoia, incapable of trusting anyone?
Can Charlie Hall’s club be trusted? (Picture: BBC)
Will Frank Napier find Shaun before Rachel?
Will Frank Napier find Shaun before Rachel? (Picture: BBC)
Shaun’s currently being hunted by the entire UK population, but appeared to be relatively well hidden in a London nightclub. Relatively.
But with that giant cut on his face, he’s clearly been tracked down by someone and the likelihood is that someone is Frank Napier or Gemma Garland – both enigmas which are still giving us a headache.
Frank has finally left the house in The Capture (Picture: BBC)
This looks cosy… (Picture: BBC)
Last night Rachel confronted Danny who swore on his children’s life he had nothing to do with the video which puts Shaun in the firing line for Hannah’s murder but the photo above would suggest otherwise. We knew Danny was fully aware of corrupt CCTV evidence, even if he wasn’t behind this case.
But he’s clearly working with Gemma and Frank to keep Rachel from uncovering any more evidence which would no doubt collapse all trust in the CIA and British intelligence.
The Capture continues next Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One.

The contestant was in the middle of talking to presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield when she looked down and felt her professional dancer’s thigh and became confused.
‘What’s that?’ Anneka asked as she inspected his leg.
‘That’s my phone,’ Kevin replied, causing Holly and Phil to erupt into a fit of laughter. ‘Easy, Anneka,’ he continued.
‘It’s the Strictly curse already,’ giggled Phil. ‘One week, one week!’
Classic.

Unsurprisingly, viewers were also in stitches over the side-splitting scenes, with one writing: ‘Is that your phone or you pleased to see me Kevin #ThisMorning.’
Another observed: ‘Kevin looks terrified of Anneka and her flirting.’

‘We were thrown into learning a complicated group dance,’ Anneka told Radio Times. ‘I kept shouting, “Hang on”, but everyone was onto the next bit. I was baffled.

Stacey Solomon has made her highly-anticipated return to Loose Women and we have been blessed with Rex as a guest star.
We can’t even deal.
The panellists were clearly delighted to have their pal back, with the little one settling into his mum’s arms on his best behaviour.
‘Lots of people asked me to bring him in…it’s so nice when you work somewhere and people let you bring the baby in,’ she explained before quickly joking: ‘It won’t be every day!’
We wouldn’t be mad if it was.
Despite being a pro on the daytime show, she admitted she had some first day nerves, confessing: ‘I never thought I’d sit in this chair and be nervous but when it’s your first day back your tummy goes a bit.’
With Janet Street-Porter wondering out loud how ‘gender-netrual’ Stacey had gone with Rex, she said: ‘Yes, he’s a boy! I don’t know how else to describe it.’
Fans are already obsessed with little Rex, with one writing on Twitter: ‘Ohhhh baby Rex is too bloody cute #LooseWomen.’
‘Rex on @loosewomen he’s so gorgeous,’ another added.

‘@StaceySolomonback on @loosewomen with baby Rex!! He is so cute!! Love Stacey!!’ one more said.
Mrs Hinch revealed she’d ‘poured her heart out’ to the Loose Women star as they posed together on the sofa in a sweet Instagram snap recently.

Responding to the tweets which called for the women to ‘go back’ to the ‘places from which they came’, Naga recalled her own experiences of being told to ‘go home’ in the UK.
‘Everytime I’ve been told as a woman of colour to “go home”, to “go back to where I’ve come from,” that was embedded in racism,’ Naga said.
"I've been told as a woman of colour to 'go home'…"@BBCNaga shares her experience as we discuss the reaction to comments made by President Trump. pic.twitter.com/u0HL5tEdgt
‘Now I’m not accusing anyone of anything here but you know what certain phrases mean.’
While Naga received praise for highlighting her own experiences with racism, the BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit (ECU) has stated they’re upholding an official complaint about the incident for breaking impartiality guidelines.
A spokesperson for the BBC said: ‘The ECU ruled that while Ms Munchetty was entitled to give a personal response to the phrase “go back to your own country” as it was rooted in her own experience, overall her comments went beyond what the guidelines allow for.’
At the time, Donald Trump denied the remarks were racist, which were levelled against congresswomen, and US citizens, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley.

In his original tweets, Trump wrote: ‘So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is run.
‘Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough.’
Frank was open about his mental health struggles (Picture: ITV)
Frank Bruno has opened up about male mental health, recalling that his anti-depressants made him ‘cuckoo’.
The boxing legend, who was sectioned back in 2003 under the Mental Health Act, is now working to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing.
Explaining that his new programme allows people of all ages to chat about their mental health, he said: ‘Kids can go through mental health, women, old men.’
The 57-year-old pointed out that men struggle to talk about their feelings more, saying: ‘Women can talk…men don’t want to admit they’re going through a mental health thing.’
With Frank explaining that he’s doing much better, he revealed he’s been off of his medication for four years.
‘Some of the drugs they’re giving out are very highly addictive,’ he confessed. ‘I couldn’t walk upstairs and make myself a cup of tea.’
Recalling that his PA had been there for him the whole time, he added: ‘Every minute I kept thinking there’s an ambulance outside, there’s a police car outside coming to section me.
He pointed out that men are less likely to speak out about their mental health (Picture: ITV)
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he said: ‘They treated me very, very, very bad. They made me feel like an ant.
‘I’m sorry for the other patients what they’re going through so I’m flying the flag for the government to stop giving money away to different countries and invest the money in your own country.’
He added: ‘Look after Britain and make Britain the best country in the world.’
Chatting about his own experience, he said: ‘Some days, you’ll get up and the sun shines, some days it’s raining…
‘We all have different problems – bills to pay, relationships break up, kids to look after from a different marriage so it’s not only me what goes through it.’

Jesy Nelson’s powerful documentary has smashed BBC Three viewing figures (Picture: BBC)
Jesy Nelson has broken records for BBC with her courageous documentary attacking online trolls and bullying, titled Odd One Out.
The Little Mix singer revealed in the film that she once tried to take her own life in 2013 after being barraged with vicious social media users abusing her everyday since winning The X Factor in 2011.
Odd One Out initially aired to huge acclaim on BBC One earlier this month before moving to BBC Three where it was watched by more than 3.3 million viewers, the highest figures for the channel since it moved online.
The 28-year-old’s special saw 1.87 million requests to view over the course of a week, with 64 percent of those coming from 16-34-year-olds.
Odd One Out saw Jesy collapse into tears after recalling her own suicide attempt and revealing the extent of the abuse she received online which tarnished winning The X Factor – what should have been the best day of her life.
‘I just remember thinking this is never going to go,’ she sobbed.
‘I’m going to constantly wake up and feel sad for the rest of my life. So what is the point in being here? I physically couldn’t tolerate the pain any more.’
Katie wrote: ‘Packet Mix have still got a chubbier in their ranks. Less Little Mix. More Pick n Mix.’
Naturally, viewers were appalled.
But Odd One Out also highlighted how her Little Mix bandmates rallied around the singer in her time of need, even if they didn’t always know how to help.
Jesy was brutally honest about her mental health in the hour-long programme (Picture: BBC)
Cal Strode, Media Manager at the Mental Health Collective, told Metro.co.uk of the impact that the documentary will have on audiences up and down the country, explaining: ‘Many young people are living in the shadow of the darker side of social media, facing things like Cyberbullying.
‘This programme will no doubt send a powerful message that they are not alone.
‘Though speaking out about it can be daunting, Jesy Nelson shows that great strength can be found in vulnerability.
‘There is nothing to be ashamed of and talking about what is happening with someone you trust can be the first step on the road to recovering your mental health.’
Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
She opened up about kids and consent (Picture: ITV)
Loose Women’s Stacey Solomon has revealed she won’t tickle her kids when they ask her to stop anymore after increasing conversations about consent.
The panellist, who has three sons including new arrival Rex, chatted on the show about her views on consent apps and wristbands.
‘People are capitalising on awful things happening to other people,’ the 29-year-old said. ‘If we want to look into the issue of consent surely it needs to start in education at a young age.’
Stacey said: ‘It’s just money-making on something that could be really horrific.’
She went on to say: ‘I’ve got a real thing with the kids when I was tickling them, even if they were saying “no stop”, [I’d carry on].’
The star added that she has to think about ‘what that means to them if they’re saying “No stop.”‘
The panellists were clearly delighted to have their pal back, with Rex settling into his mum’s arms on his best behaviour.
Stacey brought baby Rex onto the show (Picture: ITV)
‘Lots of people asked me to bring him in…it’s so nice when you work somewhere and people let you bring the baby in,’ she explained before quickly joking: ‘It won’t be every day!’
We wouldn’t be mad if it was.
Despite being a pro on the daytime show, she admitted she had some first day nerves, confessing: ‘I never thought I’d sit in this chair and be nervous but when it’s your first day back your tummy goes a bit.’
‘It’s been really intense,’ Stacey admitted. ‘I haven’t stopped crying since I gave birth.
‘I feel like I went back to zero, like I’d never done it before. I remember bringing Rex home and thinking, “how am I going to keep him alive?”’
Looks to us like she’s absolutely smashing it.
Loose Women airs every weekday at 12.30 on ITV1.

So what’s being dangled before your eyes this month? Here’s everything coming to Netflix in October.
Rhythm + Flow – 9 October
Cardi B, Chance The Rapper and T.I. or Tip have joined forces to search for undiscovered hip-hop talent across Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City.
Imagine a competition like American Idol, only looser, shorter, and with an unleashed Cardi B. A recipe for talent show success? We’re hoping and praying.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie – 11 October
Jesse Pinkman is back in El Camino (Picture: Netflix)
Easily the biggest Netflix event for October, Breaking Bad’s movie follow-up El Camino looks to answer what happened to Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) after he escaped white supremacist clutches in the final episode.
With the show’s creator Vince Gilligan at the helm and the promise of many returning Breaking Bad characters, it’s hard to believe this will be anything but a worthy, thrilling return.
The Laundromat – 18 October
In what’s touted for award season success, Steven Soderbergh’s The Laundromat sees Meryl Streep play a widow hot on the heels of insurance fraud which stems back to a pair of Panama City law partners played by Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas.
With the amount of talent behind and in front of the camera, along with Oldman on refreshingly jovial form, this looks like a serious contender for a rare breakout Netflix movie.
Daybreak – 24 October
Ever imagined what Riverdale crossed with Mad Max would look like? Daybreak looks to answer your messed up, beautiful dreams with one drop of a radiation cloud.
Based on the comic series by Brian Ralph and starring Matthew Broderick, this new series holds an abundance of promise if it can live up to the zany trailer.
Dolemite Is My Name – 25 October
Eddie Murphy stars in Dolemite Is My Name (Picture: Netflix)
In one of his first roles in years, Eddie Murphy plays real-life comedian, musician, and actor Rudy Ray Moore, known for his alter ego Dolemite who became a 1970s Blaxploitation phenomenon.
Directed by Craig Brewer (who is also working with Eddie on the Coming To America sequel), the incredible cast of Tituss Burgess, Craig Robinson, Keegan-Michael Key and Wesley Snipes is a worthy selling point alone.
Can Chloe and Lucifer make it work in season 5? (Picture: Netflix)
Lucifer’s writers’ room are one sneaky little lot and have been keeping us guessing with the upcoming episode titles of season 5.
But the latest one has sent fans into overdrive after they have become convinced Lucifer (Tom Ellis) will finally be reunited with the love of his life, Chloe Decker (Lauren German).
The official writers’ room Twitter sent fans into overdrive with a tweet that said: ‘Some say this day would never come… But here it is, 503 title clue. One word. 6 letters. D #LuciferSeason5#Lucifer’
While this could be Devils or Demons or Lucifer’s favourite word ever, Desire – most are getting excited because they’re hoping it means the return of DECKER.
Detective Decker was left broken hearted at the end of season four when she finally admitted that she was in love with her consulting partner just as he had to return to hell.
After grappling with his true identity (ie. the literal Devil), Chloe had accepted him as he was, and Lucifer in return admitted she was his first true love.
However their moment of happiness couldn’t last, with the demons from the Underworld rising to Earth after their leader went missing.
As a result, Lucifer saw no choice but to return to his throne in Hell…but was far from happy about it.
Lucifer’s last season promises to be seriously devillish (Picture: Netflix)
Other ideas could be Douche – as in Detective Dan ‘Douche’ Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) who is yet to discover Lucifer’s real identity, and speaking to Metro.co.uk about what would happen when he does, Kevin teased his character could ‘come apart at the seams’.
So far we know the names of the first two episodes thanks to the team slowly revealing the title pages of each script.
Episode one will be named Really Sad Devil Guy – which is appropriate seeing as he’s been forced back down to look over Hell despite just admitting his love for Decker.
In the second, Lucifer! Lucifer! Lucifer!, it seems that someone is, at the very least, going to call him out, but that means nothing really when he can conjure up pretty much anything he wants.
The upcoming fifth season will be the show’s last, and will be split into two parts.
After fan demand for a season six, they decided to extend the stay for eight more episodes – with the final outing of the series running for 16 episodes in total.
With so much ground to cover, we can’t wait to see what they come up with.
Lucifer seasons 1-3 are available on Amazon Prime Video and season 4 is available on Netflix in the UK

Ross, Ross, Ross, what will we do with you? (Picture: Getty Images North America)
Why do we hate Friends character Ross Geller so much?
The palaeontologist seems harmless enough but for some reason viewers, 25 years after the premiere of the sitcom, just can’t stand the fella.
Sure other characters, perhaps his sister Monica for one, can be grating, but Ross, what with his womanising ways, patronising comments and dramatic reactions, brushed up audiences the wrong way.
He’s seemingly likeable on the surface and is trying his best to be everything to everyone. But it doesn’t work, does it?
Sorry to say, it’s our own fault.
‘In psychology, it is noted that the things that irritate us, are often the things that we dislike about ourselves. Like holding up a mirror, people get angry at Ross because he has every characteristic that we dislike in people, and many of us can relate to his behaviour,’ organisational psychologist Karen Kwong told Metro.co.uk as she served up the truth bombs.
‘We see him in partners or ex-partners, friends and sometimes even ourselves, and this unsettles us as an audience. At times, his insecurity and childish reactions almost remove the humour from the show and presents us with something serious, real and painful.’
As Kwong continued, she noted the character is ‘fundamentally insecure’ and in turn almost tried too hard to present himself as superior to compensate.
To many, he’s the worst (Picture: NBC Universal, Inc)
She continued: ‘At times, he comes across as controlling, homophobic, selfish, and arrogant and he is secretive and possessive. And more than anything else, his insecurities really manifest in emotional immaturity – in the way he interacts with his girlfriends and friends.’
The poor lad ‘means well’ but according to Kwong, it seems viewers are left focusing on his emotional shortcomings rather than any attractive qualities.
That and, well, he can make us feel ‘uncomfortable’. And no one enjoys feeling uncomfortable. If you do, that’s for another time.
‘He can bring about huge feelings of discomfort as we may recognise some of his less than palatable behavioural traits in ourselves when watching the show. And doing it through comedy worsens this uneasiness,’ Kwong said.
‘Ross is an exaggerated version of our insecurities in so many ways. And whilst no one is perfect, Ross reminds us of this in quite a confrontational way.’
Kwong agrees a long-held view that Ross was the most ‘problematic’ of the six characters. But the other five have traits that are perhaps a little more amusing to us, a little more, dare we say, acceptable. And they evolved in their shortcomings. For Ross, he never stopped clinging to his insecurities much like we can never seem to forgive him for encouraging Rachel to get off the plane.
Rest assured if you harbour some level of hatred towards the guy, know it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
‘Pinning our emotions to fictional characters is incredibly normal and in recognising traits and behaviours in ourselves, on a good day, they can bring about some self-reflection and they can also shape us as people at times,’ Kwong enthused.
‘Ross was the guy we loved to hate and with the Friends revival in the last couple of years it has connected to a completely different generation. They have raised several issues and themes which we original watchers will have accepted or missed – such as the identity of women, homophobia, the concept of diversity in general. And of course, many have seen even more issues with Ross’ character as his behaviour is no longer acceptable as it was in the 90s.
‘He added a dynamic and a depth to the group that otherwise may not have worked. Having someone to hate out of a great group of characters added substance and personality. And certainly a question to be asked is that, if his character was so easy to dislike, what does that character, his traits and behaviours say about us?’
Good question…
Friends airs daily on Comedy Central.

Lucrezia Millarini is the fourth star confirmed for Dancing on Ice (Picture: Getty/Metro/ITV)
Dancing On Ice has confirmed ITV newsreader Lucrezia Millarini as the fourth celebrity to join the upcoming series.
The annual skating competition will return to our screens at the beginning of 2020, and so far Love Island’s Maura Higgins, Michael Barrymore and Kevin Kilbane have been revealed to be taking part.
Speaking on the announcement, Lucrezia said: ‘I’m super excited to be joining the line-up for DOI! I can’t wait to get out there on the ice and start training.
‘While the news agenda is already pretty busy these days, I know life is about to get a lot busier…with a few bruises along the way!’
The 43-year-old journalist, regularly presents the lunchtime and six o’clock news bulletins on ITV.
There are still eight celebrities to be revealed by the show, with their social media posting a series of photo hints online over who could be taking part this year.
The newsreader has already joked that she’ll be getting some bumps and bruises on the show (Picture:ITV)
Among them was a coat pocket with a yellow star hanging out of it (which many have assumed is Joe Swash) and an afro hairstyle (leading to thoughts it could be Perri Kiely from dance troupe Diversity).
Footballer Kevin Kilkane was confirmed today as well.
The upcoming series will be the first with John Barrowman on the judges’ panel, as he takes over from Jason Gardiner, who quit earlier this year.
Ashley Banjo will remain on the panel alongside skating legends Torvill and Dean.
Dancing On Ice returns in early 2020 on ITV.
