Rick and Morty season 4 trailer reveals first look at return of Mr Poopybutthole

Rick and Morty season four’s first trailer has finally dropped, teasing the return of the uber-happy Mr Poopybutthole.

The spectacularly named character was last seen in a post-credits scene of the final episode of season three, where it was revealed that he had started a family. Justin Roiland’s character broke the fourth wall to tell viewers that he would be back season four, but referencing the delay, he joked: ‘However long it takes.’

Turns out, it didn’t take long at all (well, two years). Footage released by Adult Swim shows the inter-dimensional being teaching a university class (in a top hat and cane no less) and having to fight off a gang of now-rabid students.

The rest of the trailer shows Rick and Morty knee-deep in space battles, magic and all kinds of mind-bending, genre-twisting cartoon nonsense.

The fourth cycle of the show comes two years after the third, and its no coincidence that Mr Poopybutthole is glimpsed at in the new trailer; he’s the character most commonly associated with the show’s long hiatuses.

Fans of the show are already second-guessing what could happen in the next run, anticipating that Evil Morty will play a pivotal role in the proceedings.

It also appeared that, yes, we could be getting a Kanye West episode of the cult hit too, so you should probably start preparing yourself for that already.

The programme has also faced a sad turn of events in the last few weeks; one of its producers, Michael Mendel, sadly passed away at the age of 53.

Rick and Morty season four will air in November. UK viewers can catch the show on Channel 4.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions crowned its inaugural winners Twist and Pulse weeks ago, but Ashley Glazebrook and Ben Murphy haven’t spent a penny of their winnings yet.

The dancing duo took on Stavros Flatley in the grand final last night, and viewers saw the two friends triumph thanks to a high-octane routine with a surprising I’m A Celebrity and Love Island theme.

The prize on offer was initially £50,000 before it was doubled by head-honcho Simon Cowell. When asked what they’ve done with their cash, the boys told Metro.co.uk: ‘We’re just planning stuff that we want to do.

‘We’ve had so many big ideas over the years, like a big show and stuff like that. We want to invest it back into ourselves and the big ideas we have.’

The dancers revealed that they also recognise this opportunity as a massive launch pad for them back into the public consciousness.

‘We think [the win] is going to kickstart [us] to a whole new audience this time,’ they shared. ‘As well as people that have followed us through the years. It’s an opportunity to show everything we’ve got.’

The boys first competed on Britain’s Got Talent in 2010, where they placed as runners-up to gymnastic troupe Spellbound. In the nine years that have passed, they know there’s now an entirely new generation of fans just waiting for their next Twist and Pulse fix.

All the fans that were there in like 2010 have kind of grown up to be our age now,’ the two friends said. ‘So we have a brand new generation that may have not known about Twist and Pulse so it’s incredible for them to kind of go back and research and see what we’ve done.’

Saturday night saw the dancers triumph over the father-son duo Stavros Flatley and winning £100,000 and the honour of being named the first winners of the series, which brought together some of the most well-known and successful acts from the Got Talent franchise from both home and abroad.

The first series of Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions was an eventful one; from surprise early-on eliminations to a Susan Boyle no show.

After the finale last night, though, that’s still got everyone to thinking we could be seeing a second run soon..

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions is available to catch up on ITV Hub.

Inside The Jinx’s shocking Robert Durst murder ‘confession’ and what he really said

$

The Jinx's Robert Durst
The Jinx is the holy grail of true crime docs (Picture: Getty)

The Jinx accidentally achieved the one thing which most true crime documentaries with access to the suspect hopes to – the smoking gun which, in this case, was a possible confession.

Robert Durst was the suspect and he is alleged to have confessed to a number of murders, including that of his wife Kathleen “Kathie” McCormack who went missing in 1982.

When audio of the real estate heir talking to himself in the toilet and allegedly confessing to ‘killing them all’, played out in the final episode of Sky Crime’s The Jinx, it seemed almost too good to be true.

After all, Robert was said to be an intelligent man who had been accused of more than one murder over a span of 33 years.

Would he really be so careless as to confess to murder, while still wearing a wireless microphone, with the cameras rolling on the other side of the door?

Those with an addiction to true crime docs live for the moment the killer is caught or a body is found.

And The Jinx seemed to offer up their golden goose in the very last moments making for compelling yet unbelievable viewing.

Whether Robert’s confession was legitimate remains to be seen as he is currently awaiting trial accused of killing writer Susan Berman.

But for The Jinx, the unprecedented lasting moments of the finale propelled the series to true crime documentary legend.

Robert Durst’s confession and how it happened

Filmmaker Andrew Jarecki probably thought his final interview with Robert would be routine.

Robert sat in the hot seat as Andrew probed him on handwriting comparisons with a letter that was sent to writer Susan Berman’s house.

After denying he had written the letter, Robert asked for a toilet break.

But he didn’t realise his microphone was still on and recording everything he thought he was telling himself out loud in private.

As played in episode six, Robert said: ‘There it is. You’re caught. You’re right of course. But you can’t imagine.

Robert Durst
Robert is currently awaiting trial for the murder of writer Susan Berman (Picture: Getty Images)

‘Arrest him. I don’t know what’s in the house. Oh, I want this. What a disaster. He was right. I was wrong.

‘And the burping. I’m having difficulty with the question. What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.’

Regardless of the nature, it truly was TV gold.

However, the New York Times later published a full transcript of the so-called confession that was submitted by prosecutors.

And it cast doubt over whether the version of Robert’s audio which aired during episode six, had been edited with an agenda.

The actual audio transcript reportedly reads: ‘[Unintelligible] I don’t know what you expected to get. I don’t know what’s in the house. Oh, I want this.

‘Killed them all, of course.

‘[Unintelligible] I want to do something new. There’s nothing new about that. [Inaudible – possibly “disaster”.] He was right. I was wrong. The burping. I’m having difficulty with the question. What the hell did I do?’

Andrew Jarecki
Director Andrew Jarecki couldn’t believe what he heard in the cutting room (Picture: FilmMagic)

It possibly changes the context of Robert’s words.

The Jinx documentarian Andrew also directed All Good Things, the 2010 movie based on the disappearance of Robert’s wife Kathie, starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst.

Recalling the moment he came across his ‘smoking gun’, Andrew told Good Morning America back in 2015: ‘I sat there in the edit room with my partners Mark and Zach, and we just sort of shook our heads.

‘And it took a while to really understand the impact of it. It was so chilling to hear it. It was disturbing.’

Andrew went on to deny that he had a hand in Robert’s arrest in a New Orleans hotel room the day before the episode six finale aired.

The filmmaker insisted: ‘Of course not. We don’t have that kind of power. We’re not in charge of the arrest timing, and we had no idea of the arrest timing.

‘In fact, we were very nervous about it.’

He recalled: ‘I was on the phone with our main contact in law enforcement at four o’clock in the morning two nights before, and I was saying, “I’m uncomfortable, I have security, my family’s uncomfortable, and I feel that this arrest should be made, but I understand that you need to what you need to do. But tell me where we are”.

‘I didn’t get any colour on it.’

Robert, 76, is currently in jail awaiting trial for the murder of Susan Berman in 2000, but it has been subjected to several delays.

The Jinx is available to stream on Sky Crime now.

Tyler Nilson, the director of new movie The Peanut Butter Falcon, has made the shocking revelation he was ‘offered money’ to replace star Zack Gottsagen.

Zack, who has Down’s Syndrome, has been trained in acting since he was young, with the movie specifically being written for him.

However, it definitely wasn’t an easy journey.

‘Every step of the way has been a bit of an uphill battle. We were told this would not be marketable, people would not go and see it in theatres…because he’s not a marketable face,’ director Tyler revealed on This Morning.

He mentioned that getting funding in the first place was a real struggle, shockingly revealing: ‘We were offered money to replace Zack.’

Tyler added: ‘We were also told it wouldn’t get on streaming services and people wouldn’t buy tickets and go to watch it in the cinemas.’

The role was actually written with Zack in mind after he and Tyler met at a camp for actors with disabilities.

The movie, which also stars Shia LaBeouf and Dakota Johnson, follows a young man with Down’s Syndrome who runs away from home to follow his dreams of becoming a professional wrestler.

An outlaw on the run (Shia) and a nursing home employee (Dakota) end up joining him on his journey.

Set for release on 18 October in UK cinemas, the movie has already racked up millions after its popularity earlier this year in the US.

Blue Peter’s Tim Vincent recalls awkward moment with Bruce Willis over Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher question

Tim Vincent’s had some pretty memorable experiences (Picture: ITV)

Blue Peter presenter Tim Vincent has interviewed some interesting characters over the years, but he’ll never forget the moment Bruce Willis blanked him on the red carpet over a Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher question.

The TV host, who presented Blue Peter for three years in the ‘90s, has spent the past 16 years in the US interviewing the famous a-listers of Hollywood.

But he probably wasn’t betting that when Die Hard actor Bruce crossed his path, he’d be met with an icy reception to his lead question.

Speaking on Loose Women on Monday, Tim recalled: ‘I happened to be the first journalist to catch him after Demi Moore had got married to Ashton Kutcher, a very younger man [sic].

‘They had a good relationship and they still continue to.

‘I happened to be the first person to grab him and say, “What was the wedding like?” and he just gave me this really withering look and refused to answer it.’

So basically all kinds of awkward and it only got worse.

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore

Tim continued: ‘About four days later, we had our production meeting, and they said, “On Monday, you’re interviewing Bruce Willis”. I’m like, oh my God, he’s going to kill me.

‘When you interview big stars you get 10 minutes if you’re lucky. I sat down with the cameras and said, “Look, I think we got off to a bad start. I think you’re really brave in the decisions that you make and the parts that you take. Can we start again? Because I think I’d like to ask you some really probing questions about you as an actor”.’

The grovelling speech didn’t immediately work as Bruce then spent the next 30 minutes nodding in silence.

Desperate to break the tension, Tim then broke the ice by asking the Hollywood icon: ‘So I just went, “do you wear boxer shorts or briefs?” He gave it another 30 seconds and then burst out laughing.

‘And consequently on red carpets he only stops for me. Because when you’re a bit cheeky, he loves it.’

Ah, don’t you just love a happy ending.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.

Gary Lineker’s Match of the Day salary clocks in at a cool £1.75 million, but fellow BBC presenter and Mastermind stalwart John Humphrys called the pay packed ‘outrageous’.

Humphrys, who has presented the iconic quiz show for 16 years, was asked his feelings on Lineker taking a voluntary pay-cut. The former footballer is the Beeb’s highest-paid presenter.

‘We don’t know how much so ask me when we know. I don’t know,’ the retiring Radio 4 DJ said. ‘I thought £1.75 million for a wee bit of chatting was outrageous.’

The Welsh presenter has also seen cuts made to his own salary at the BBC; falling from around £400,000 in 2017/18 to between £290,000. Both he and Jeremy Vine had their salaries slashed by around £100,000.

Lineker has also spoken out about his salary, quoted by The Mirror as saying: ‘I love my job at the BBC and I enjoy doing it. I’m currently negotiating a new contract with them and I’m volunteering to take less.’

The Match of the Day frontman had previously also opened up about being the ‘whipping boy’ for controversies surrounding how much the BBC actually pays its presenters.

‘I’m kind of a whipping boy for the BBC on all types of topics,’ he told BBC Radio 5 Live. ‘Some I bring on myself, admittedly.’

With Lineker holding the top spot as the highest paid presenter for the broadcaster with his £1 million plus pay day, the channel’s top-paid female presenters are Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who both pocket £370,000.

Match Of The Day airs Saturdays on BBC One.

Amanda Holden asks Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell if Katya Jones was drunk during fall

Amanda Holden asked Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell if Katya Jones was drunk when she stacked it during Saturday night’s live show.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge – who hosts a daily breakfast show on Heart FM – took the fellow Strictly dancer to task following wide-spread speculation about Katya this weekend. Namely, if she’d had a little dutch courage before heading out on the dancefloor?

Mike Bushell’s partner fell twice on Saturday night and that got a lot of tongues wagging.

Katya Jones Strictly Come Dacing
Katya fell down twice during Saturday night’s show (Picture: BBC/PA)

Katya tripped once during her Magic Mike routine and then again at the top of the stairs to greet Claudia Winkleman – although she insists the second time was staged as a joke.

‘Dianne, the first question I’m going to ask you because it’s all over the papers this morning,’ the Wild at Heart actress began. ‘Was Katya a bit drunk at the weekend?’

‘100% not,’ the Aussie pro fired back. ‘Katya was not drunk. Katya is just…she’s quite funny and she did it all in good fun and humour so no, definitely not drunk.’

In typical Strictly fashion, however, the news and the gossip just don’t stop there.

The show waved goodbye to its second contestant on Sunday as Anneka Rice left the competition. And we assume everyone got to work this morning still laughing about Craig Revel Horwood’s mishap with Anton Du Beke’s teeth?

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BBC One.

The Circle catfish Katie reveals truth of how real life Jay felt about watching his mum play him

Katie - The Circle
Katie played The Circle pretending to be her son, Jay (Picture: Channel 4)

There’s no doubt that Katie – aka Jay – left her mark on The Circle after going in and playing her son…hashtags and bruvs aplenty.

But after Tim and Woody started smelling a rat, and she began to panic and withdraw, Katie soon found herself blocked from the game, and the mum-of-four was eliminated on Thursday.

Which meant not only facing how she came across on camera, but also dealing with son Jay and how she interpreted being him.

So what did the real Jay think of it all?

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Katie said: ‘He finds it all really funny! He knows me too well, and he’s not the type to get embarrassed or, you know, “my mum’s making me look a fool”.

‘He just giggles at everything. He finds it comical.’

In preparation for her new role, 42-year-old Katie swotted up on football teams, players, BMXing tricks and term, and lingo that she thought she was going to need – but cracked under pressure when she was confronted with terms about building and roofing.

Woody’s question about the retail price of a brick left her stumped – but Katie later found out that even Jay didn’t know the answer.

‘Jay didn’t know the answer! Which I kind of knew he wouldn’t know, because it just gets delivered to site. Everything gets delivered. I knew he wouldn’t know that answer! But yeah, that got me!’

'Jay' aka Katie has been blocked from The Circle
Katie has no regrets about taking on the show (Picture: Channel 4)

While Katie flew under the radar of suspicion for 10 days, she became known for her lad bants and her overuse of hashtags to make herself seem younger – all while sitting on her sofa with a cuppa in her hand and her trusty self-made Jay manual to keep herself in check.

‘I think everyone’s just laughing at the hashtags. I don’t even know where that came from, I just thought it was really cool doing a hashtag!,’ she giggled. ‘I was so wrong. I was so wrong, and I can’t believe how hard it is to play somebody you know so well.

‘It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It must be so easy for people that are being themselves.’

Despite not winning the show, Katie has no regrets – but wish she came clean a little bit earlier.

‘I don’t regret [going in as Jay] as I wanted to be a catfish,’ she continued. ‘I so wish I’d been honest and at some point said “actually guys, I’m really loving you all, I’m Jay’s mum.” It would’ve been a risk, but I wish I had.’

The Circle continues weeknights at 10pm on Channel 4.

Coleen Nolan returns to Loose Women with Boris Johnson sex joke during Jennifer Arcruris debate

Coleen had some interesting thoughts on the Boris affair scandal (Picture: ITV)

Coleen Nolan has only been back on Loose Women for five minutes but she’s already entertaining the audience with her thoughts on the controversy surrounding Boris Johnson and the woman he is accused of having an affair with.

The Loose Women panel discussed Jennifer Arcruri’s interview with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, during which the businesswoman repeatedly refused to answer whether she’d had an affair with the Prime Minister.

After listening to her co-hosts weigh in on the scandal, Coleen stated: ‘It’s all very interesting but I’ve been sitting here thinking, “I would definitely deny I slept with Boris Johnson”.’

Coleen’s fellow panellists and the audience laughed hysterically before she added: ‘I would want a lot more money if I did. That’s all I’ve got to say, that’s my political view on this subject.’

Earlier in the debate, Saira Khan said she believed Jennifer was using the scrutiny to her advantage.

‘I don’t think she’s going to answer the question at all. She’s done this interview, she’s a businesswoman,’ she explained.

Saira continued: ‘Nobody’s heard of her company, this story’s going to run, run and run. And she’s using the PR for her own gain. So actually she’s a very clever woman.

Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson

‘But interestingly, even without knowing anything about her, these are the headlines in my head – ex-model, pole dancer, Boris Johnson, loads of money. So I’m thinking, guilty.

‘She’s a clever woman. She’s not going to answer the question. This is all for her own gain personally, that’s what I think.’

During her GMB interview, Jennifer responded when asked about her relationship with Boris: ‘It’s categorically no-one’s business what private life we had or didn’t have. Boris never gave me favouritism.’

She then asked Piers: ‘Would you like me to ask about your sex life?’

Robbie Williams has recorded the theme song for a Channel 4 Christmas Special of The Tiger Who Came To Tea.

The former X Factor judge has joined forces with composer David Arnold and lyricist Don Black on ‘Hey Tiger!’ as the theme song for Channel 4’s TV movie adaptation of Judith Kerr’s classic children’s book.

Robbie, who has kids Coco, 12 months, Teddy, six, and four-year-old Charlie with wife Ayda Field – said he has read the book with his daughter 150 times.

He said: ‘This book has played a big part in me bonding with my kids. I’ve read it possibly 150 times to Teddy, and she is the reason I’m singing the song – I’m honouring those moments with her.

‘She loved the book and I got a real heart-warming kick reading a line and her finishing it, so it will be forever in my heart. Plus I’m a massive fan of Don Black and it’s an honour to be singing the words he’s written.

‘The song reflects the tiger’s wonderful, magical and mischievous character – it’s whimsical and just what a song should be in this film.’

The original 1968 book follows young girl Sophie, her mother and a tiger who joins them for a hilariously chaotic teatime meal.

Caroline Hollick, head of the Channel 4 drama, added: ‘What a coup to have superstar Robbie Williams singing Don Black’s delightful lyrics to David Arnold’s incredibly catchy tune. This fantastic song will make this gorgeous adaptation an unforgettable treat – I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy it.’

And Ruth Fielding, producer and co-founder of Lupus Films, said: ‘What a privilege to not only have a score by such a renowned composer as David, but also a theme song with Don’s fabulously fun lyrics. ‘Hey Tiger!’ is such an upbeat swing number which suits Robbie’s voice and personality so well.

‘The song works seamlessly with the animation in the film and it’s been an absolute joy to work with such an incredibly talented trio.’

The Tiger Who Came To Tea airs on Channel 4 this Christmas.

The Walking Dead explores completely uncharted territories during the season 10 premiere last night – it went to outer space.

Episode one, titled Lines We Cross, was welcomed with rave reviews from fans of the zombie epic, as The Walking Dead returned to fine form in the first full chapter without Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).

And it went in big, kicking the new cycle off with a shot looking at planet Earth from above before USSR satellite blast across the screen. Little did viewers know, however, the satellite will go on to change the course of The Walking Dead as they know it.

Showrunner Angela Kang, who has been widely hailed as The Walking Dead’s saviour since taking the reins, explained all.

‘It actually, weirdly, started with conversations about ships and ghost ships, and like these ideas of things that are drifting around on the ocean,’ she explained. ‘We were trying to think of, “What are things that happen over time in an apocalypse that we haven’t explored on the show yet?” And so somebody brought up this idea of like, “Well satellites, like if they’re not maintained, they degrade and eventually fall out of orbit.”

Eugene in The Walking Dead
The satellite will play a big part in Eugene’s arc this season of The Walking Dead (Picture: AMC)

‘It even happens in our world now, but it’s not as common because they’re being maintained.’

‘Thematically, we wanted to kind of talk about a war that felt like it had Cold War aspects and the Whisperers like always watching our people, and so a satellite felt like a good metaphor for that,’ Kang continued.

‘But we also just thought that that was a fun and, hopefully, a strange and exciting way to start the season and, you know, the satellite has other implications for the season going forward as well.’

Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) will have a particularly keen interest in the satellite and its contents…

The Walking Dead’s introduction to season 10 was suitably horrifying and is only going to get more disturbing as the Whisperers take centre stage with new recruit Gamma (Thora Birch) in episode two.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC in the US and follows a day later at 9pm on Fox UK.

Amy Hart stopped eating after Curtis Pritchard split but was forced to eat by Love Island doctor

Love Island star Amy Hart has revealed she completely lost her appetite after splitting with Curtis Pritchard on the show and was forced into eating by the reality TV show’s resident doctor.

Amy revealed there was a whole team of support staff to come into the villa and check how much food and water contestants were having and how they were in general.

But the 27-year-old flight attendant also said ITV’s mental health team are ‘very, very thorough’ with checking in since finishing up on the show.

‘When it all went t*** up for me and I was lying in bed crying at lunchtime, [the welfare rep] would get into bed with me and just stroke my head and talk to me,’ Amy revealed.

‘Now I speak to her on the phone twice a week to check how I am.’

She then added: ‘We’ve been given 18 months of sessions as mandatory from ITV and then we can have more if we want them afterwards.’

‘I’m very unorganised and busy at the moment so I let my psyche sessions go and [my welfare rep] ended up phoning my manager and saying, “We need to get a date in Amy’s diary when she’s free” so they are really on it,’ Amy added.

Amy was paired up with Curtis on the show but things turned sour when he tried to crack on with another girl in the villa.

The former air hostess eventually decided to leave the show because she was too heartbroken to go on and couldn’t bear to see Curtis moving on with current girlfriend Maura.

Amy also opened up about her mental health struggles before and after filming the show.

‘I have had mental health issues in the past but I was reluctant to accept it,’ she said.

‘I didn’t admit that I had anxiety until a couple of years after I first started my job flying at British Airways.’

She added: ‘My previous anxiety issues manifested within food.

‘I would order the biggest dinner you’ve ever seen and take one bite and start shaking, crying and saying I can’t eat this anymore.’

‘I felt like wasn’t in control of the rest of my life – I was convinced I was going to get sacked, so food was my control thing,’ she said.

Amy revealed she lost a stone in her first six months at BA so when things went sour with Curtis, she experienced a similar thing.

She said: ‘ITV stepped in and made me eat as the psyche was watching me all the time.’

Vikings season 5 hadn’t even hit our screens when History confirmed that the hit show would return for a sixth season this year.

Season 6 of Vikings will comprise of an epic 20 episodes, which will be split into two parts as season five has been.

Series 1-5 of Vikings is available on DVD from tomorrow, October 8, meaning you can binge watch the historical drama right from the start to your heart’s content – and recap on all of the action so far before the new season airs. Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons.

But when can we expect the tale of Ragnar Lothbrok’s sons to continue?

When does Vikings season 6 start?

Despite the cast teasing the return of the show, the air date of Vikings season 6 is yet to be announced, although it is thought that it will drop on the History Channel and Amazon Prime before the end of the year.

In the trailer for the new series, it teases that season 6 is ‘coming soon’, but History remained tight-lipped about when that might be.

The plot for season 6 has been kept under lock and key but in typical Vikings fashion, you can expect plenty of bloodshed and – according to show creator Michael Hirst – plenty of tears: ‘If you have tears to weep be prepared to weep them as you watch season 6.’

Sadly for fans of the Nordic drama, season 6 will be the show’s last, with Michael revealing he is ready to bid goodbye to Vikings: ‘I always knew where I wanted the show to go and more or less where it would end if I was given the opportunity,’ he told Variety.

‘What I was trying to do was write the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons.

‘After six seasons and 89 episodes, that’s what I felt – finally – I’d done. We stopped shooting the final episode in November last year and I felt that I’d said all I needed to say about Ragnar and his sons.’

Outlander’s delayed season 5 finally gets a new trailer as Claire time-travels and John Grey returns

Outlander has had a bit of delay in the arrival of its fifth season but before it drops in February 2020 we finally have our first glimpse at the newest episodes of the time-travelling romance.

The trailer sees the first looks at our favourite characters together on the screen again; from Claire and Jamie, to Brianna and Roger and even a certain John Grey – the fifth run of Starz’s high-concept adaption looks to be its most dramatic and heart-wrenching yet.

Claire Outlander
Claire prepares for an uprising in Outlander season five (Picture: Starz)

The future (well, technically the past) certainly looks bleak for Claire and Jamie’s family as they must band together to survive. There’s also stronger hints than ever that a journey in time will happen and our heroine seems pretty determined to keep her brood safe. Whether that’s the future’s advanced weapons or medication, we’ll have to find out.

‘It’s safer in the future,’ we hear her say. ‘It’s time.’

Outlander season 5
We might be time-travelling again very soon in the fifth season of the romantic drama (Picture: Starz)

From the looks of a possible riot at Aunt Jocasta’s house to Roger wanting to go back to the 1960s, there will be plenty to keep fans patiently (or maybe not so patiently) waiting until the new year to find out what happens.

Of course, for most viewers the biggest revelation of the trailer is the return of John Grey. He was last seen in the fourth season grappling with his feelings for Jamie, and coming to an understanding with Claire that he was in love with her husband. Now, he looks set to make an almighty comeback, but why has he reappeared now? Could he even be hiding something?

We’ve also had several behind-the-scenes snaps at filming of the new serial, and it looks like viewers are in for a few surprises. Could Claire really time-travel again? It certainly appears that way from the pictures and hints in the new trailer.

Outlander series 5
Jamie’s loyalties will be tested in the new episodes (Picture: Starz)

Apparently Claire and Jamie aren’t out of the woods yet either as season five will see their relationship tested more than ever before. As if they haven’t been through enough!

Outlander season 5 comes to Starz in 2020. Fans can stream seasons one to four now on Amazon Prime.

Neil Jones insists he wasn’t laughing at ex Katya’s misfortunes after epic fall on Strictly dancefloor

Katya Jones suffered what is sure to be every dancer’s worst nightmare after falling not once, but twice, during this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing, but her ex Neil Jones has insisted he wasn’t laughing at her misfortune on the show.

Katya was performing to The Weather Girls’ It’s Raining Men with her dance partner Mike Bushell for the show’s movie-themed week, when she took a tumble during the routine, only to fall over again at the top of the stairs after receiving her scores from the judges.

Falling over twice in such a short space of time obviously caused a few giggles in the studio, but Neil Jones – who is performing in this year’s series alongside former England footballer Alex Scott – has insisted that no-one was laughing at Katya, instead claiming that her second fall was just a bit of a joke all along that all of the cast were in on.

‘So every is clear, no one was [laughing] at @mrs_katjones fall on Saturday,’ Neil wrote about his ex-wife Katya on Twitter.

‘We were [laughing] at the fact she styled it out and still made @mikebreakfast finish the routine and then we all said [she should] fall when she got into Claudia’s area so she did as a joke and that’s why we were [laughing] again…’

It all makes *a little* more sense now…

Neil Jones Twitter
Apparently Katya’s second fall was just ‘a joke’…

Katya and Neil shared the news of their split earlier in August this year after being married for six years.

Sharing the same statement on Instagram the pair said: ‘As our fans and loyal supporters you are really important to us and so we wanted to let you know some news. After 11 years, we have made the mutual decision to separate.

‘We will always love each other, just in a different way as friends. This will never change what a great team we make and we are really proud of everything we have achieved together.

‘Our shared love of dance means we will keep working and dancing together as well as exploring different individual projects.

‘No matter what we do we will always support and respect each other.’

Though Katya seemed quite unsteady on her feet during this week’s show, tweeting after the performance she denied being ‘drunk’ and also said the second fall was staged.

‘Guys! I’m totally fine! No idea what happened. So sorry. But so proud of @mikebreakfast for carrying on and delivering “the dolphin”!’ she wrote.

Katya and Mike scored 18 points from the judges for their routine, which saw journalist Mike sliding down a pole in a fireman’s outfit, before ripping it off the reveal his glittery costume underneath, making it a memorable performance in a variety of ways.

Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday at 6.40 on BBC One.

Helena Bonham Carter reveals Princess Margaret’s ghost taught her how to smoke for The Crown season 3

Helena Bonham Carter claims that in order to sign on to The Crown’s third season she contacted the late Princess Margaret via a medium to ask for her permission to play her.

Helena is succeeding Vanessa Kirby in the role but apparently she always consults a medium before she plays a dead person and this was no exception.

‘When you play someone real, you really want their blessing because you do have a responsibility,’ the Oscar-nominated actress explained to an audience at Cheltenham literary festival.

Vanessa Kirby The Crown

Apparently, she and Princess Margaret had ‘a little chat’.

The Queen’s younger sister died in 2002, but Helena said she also got some much-needed advice from Margaret on how to get her portrayal just right.

‘She said, “But you’re going to have to brush up and be more groomed and neater,” the actress told The Guardian in a separate interview. ‘Then she said, “Get the smoking right. I smoked in a very particular way. Remember that – this is a big note – the cigarette holder was as much a weapon for expression as it was for smoking.”‘

The 53-year-old had previously opened up about how she found playing the princess a ‘daunting’ prospect, especially following Vanessa’s footsteps.

Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies in The Crown season 3
Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies take over the leading roles in the new series of The Crown (Picture: Netflix)

‘It’s daunting, definitely daunting. Vanessa has just won a Bafta and she’s brilliant,’ Helena said. ‘And in a way you have the ghost of the real Margaret and the ghost of the actress who played her. You also have the fact everyone has an opinion about the woman and yet ultimately very few people knew what her private life was like and that’s the sort of the joy of the job.’

Season three of The Crown will drop on Netflix on November 17, and will see a complete overhaul of the show’s major cast. Gone are Claire Foy and Matt Smith as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillp and in are newly-minted Oscar-winner Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies.

We’ve already seen our first glimpse at Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin as Charles and Diana as the fourth season of the show is already filming. Sadly, those picketing for Helen Mirren to return to her role as The Queen for the show’s latter seasons will be sorely disappointed.

The Crown season 3 drops on Netflix November 17.

Love Island bosses ‘sign up’ Instagram star and footballer Jay Munro to new winter series

Love Island sign Jay
Jay was meant to be on the show with Tommy Fury in 2019 @jaymunro26

We may have the Love Island blues but the rumour mill for the winter series has already started – and we can’t get enough.

TV star and Instagram sensation Jay Munro has allegedly been signed up for the winter edition which is due to start filming in January.

It also turns out that the hunk already knows a few of the former Islanders including Tommy Fury, Dom Lever and Josh Denzel.

Earlier this year, Jay landed a job on The Voice Australia and ITV bosses believe that he will be a big hit in the villa.

‘Jay will be the one all the girls will be chasing. Just Tommy Fury, he’s a sportsman, in good shape and has dreamy looks,’ a source told The Daily Star .

The footballer was said to be in the line-up for the 2019 summer series of the show which would have seen him star alongside boxer Tommy Fury.

Jay Munro
Jay is friends with a few former islanders including Dom Lever and Josh Denzel @jaymunro26

Yet bosses decided to save him for the upcoming winter series in early 2020.

This isn’t unusual for the Love Island bosses; producers had hoped to line up Amber Gill for the 2018 series but she didn’t star on the show until 2019.

Jay isn’t the first name to emerge for the new show, as in September model and fitness instructor Ellis Iyayi was the first name to be rumoured.

A show insider told The Sun: ‘Ellis is over the moon about it – he’s had to be sworn to secrecy about it but he’s been in to meet producers a few times and they love him – he can’t wait to get in the villa. ‘Ellis is exactly what the show is looking for and he ticks all the boxes – he will make great television.’

The new winter series will be slightly different as the Love Island villa will be based in Cape Town, South Africa instead of the usual Mallorca.

Filming is expected to begin for the steamiest show on TV in January.

The Love Island returns to ITV2 in 2020.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield joined by ITV stars in hard-hitting mental health advert

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are among the ITV faces who have taken part in a hard-hitting mental health campaign.

The broadcaster has conducted a Britain Get Talking survey which revealed that half of parents are worried about their children’s mental health.

Britain Get Talking is ITV’s five year social purpose strategy to support mental wellness. It was first launched on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions the final with presenters Ant and Dec stopping the show to make the announcement.

The latest advert sees some familiar faces fall silent to encourage families to be more open about their feelings and catch up with one another.

Alongside the This Morning presenters are Dermot O’Leary. Jonathan Ross, Robert Peston, Emmerdale’s Mark Charnock and Emma Atkins and Loose Women stars Nadia Sawalha, Saira Khan and Kaye Adams.

To support the campaign ITV has also launched a Britain Get Talking website, which you can visit here.

Speaking about the campaign on Britain’s Got Talent, Declan Donnelly, 44, said: ‘In the last 15 years, there has been a staggering 48% rise in anxiety and depression amongst British children, but something as simple as talking together and listening to each other can build our mental wellness.’

Co-host Ant McPartlin, 43, continued: ‘Now, we all know that these days there are more distractions than ever because we’re looking at the telly or we’re looking at our phones.

‘But it’s so important for our mental wellbeing to remember to get together and with people we care about and talk.’

Chief executive of Mind, Paul Farmer, said: ‘We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health, and we can learn to look after it. At a time when only a third of people with a mental health problem get access to any kind of help and support, it’s important to do whatever we can to help people take steps to stay well and try and prevent mental health problems developing in the first place. Encouraging families to focus on the wellbeing of the next generation is a fantastic place to start.’

What happened in the end of The Walking Dead season 9?

Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead season 9 bid farewell to Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes (Picture: AMC)

Prepare to welcome the survivors and the Whisperers back into your living-room as series 10 of The Walking Dead kicks off on Monday night.

The series opener, Lines We Cross, aired in the US on Sunday night and you can see it here on Fox tonight at 9pm.

Except of course it’s been a while since the show was last on our screens – so you might have forgotten where season nine left off.

Need to catch up before you tune in? Take a look below (spoilers, obviously)…

What happened in the end of The Walking Dead season 9?

The ninth season of The Walking Dead was notable for the departure of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, the arrival of the Whisperers and that time jump.

Following Andrew Lincoln’s confirmation he was set to leave in series nine – causing the inevitable heartbreak among TWD fans – the character narrowly escaped death after he was impaled and left for dead with walkers closing in.

Rick’s fate was left hanging in the balance but he was rescued by helicopter (Picture: AMC)

He almost met his maker after trying to blow himself and them up, but ultimately left his fate hanging in the balance when he was saved by a helicopter which whisked him away – potentially leaving the door open for a future return.

Meanwhile the Whisperers, led by Alpha (Samantha Morton) became enemy number one – and with the arrival of Gamma (Thora Birch), a newcomer in their ranks, this isn’t likely to end any time soon in season 10.

Alpha brought the Whisperers to season 9 (Picture: AMC)

And let’s not forget that time jump which brought things forward by six years and led to the departure of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) – who we later learned had left camp a year earlier.

Away from all the build-up we bid farewell to season nine with two notable events.

The first of these came in the shape of one of the show’s most brutal episodes ever, with 10 characters falling victim to a massacre at the hands of the Whisperers during the Kingdom fair, and having their heads mounted on pikes.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan in The Walking Dead
All this and Negan (Picture: AMC)

Among those who met a grisly end were newfound Hilltop leader Tara (Alanna Masterson) and Carl’s former girlfriend Enid (Katelyn Nacon) as well as Henry (Matt Lintz), Tammy Rose (Brett Butler), Highwayman leader Ozzy (Angus Sampson), Alek (Jason Kirkpatrick and former Savior DJ (Matt Mangum).

The series came to a dramatic end with a storm which saw all the survivors moving to Hilltop – and the return of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) who saves Judith (Calley Fleming) with things ending on a cliffhanger as a voice came through on the radio asking if anybody was there.

When is The Walking Dead on?

The series begins on Fox on Monday night at 9pm followed immediately by spin-off series The Talking Dead at 10.05pm.

If you miss any episodes you can catch up with them via Sky’s On Demand service or via NOW TV.
