Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips was left speechless after new boy Jamie Clayton dropped her an outrageous one-liner during their first date.

As the singleton made sure that the 28-year-old recruitment consultant wasn’t a scaffolder or related to any scaffolders, he made a rather forward offer and she was left lost for words.

‘I’m a plaster and tiler by trade,’ Jamie told her as Shaughna gasped: ‘So if I’ve got a ceiling fallen through, you’re my guy?’

Jamie then cheekily replied: ‘Listen, any holes you need to be filled, I’m your guy.’

Stunned by the remark, Shaughna buried her head in her hand and went quiet. We also have no words, hun.

After a few seconds, she managed to compose herself and continued: ‘Right okay, right fine. We’ll stick to tiling for now.’

Back in the villa, Shaughna told the girls: ‘He was firing some banter back. Kind of left me a little bit speechless to be completely honest. Anyone that leaves me speechless is doing well.’

But will there be trouble in paradise for Shaughna and her potential new man Jamie?

In tomorrow’s episode, it looks as though Jamie is playing both Shaughna and Demi Jones.

After taking them both for a romantic date in this evening’s scenes, the 28-year-old contestant continues to up his game with them.

As he chats to Shaughna on the bed, she tells him: ‘See, my ex was Irish’, to which he replies: ‘Yeah, but your next is Scottish.’

Also flirting with Demi, Jamie tells her that she’s met her match.

Looks like it’s all to play for…

Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2.

Brit At 40 viewers cringe watching Madonna getting yanked down the stairs at the Brit Awards 2015

As ITV’s Brit at 40s remembered decades worth of iconic performances, viewers cringed as they re-lived the moment Madonna was yanked down the stairs by her cape during the Brit Awards 2015.

The two-hour-long show reminded us of all the best and worst things to happen at the Brits over the year, including someone dressed as a house falling off stage and Adele getting cut off by James Corden.

Pop legend Madonna was walking up the stairs during her performance with a majestically long cape following closely behind.

As she got to the top of the stage, the Vogue singer struggled to untie her cape for the part where a dancer was meant to yank off her cape.

Seconds later, Madonna – along with a still-buttoned cape – was dragged down the staircase in an extremely painful moment.

Audiences watching at home suddenly relived the trauma of watching the moment and took to Twitter to share their horror.

‘That #Madonna moment – when she carried on after being pulled down the stairs by the cape mishap – is a real inspirational message #keepgoing #youcandoit #britsat40 #womanpower #performer,’ one viewer tweeted.

Another added: ‘Madonna and the cape will forever be the most iconic moment if the Brit Awards absolute trooper for carrying on.’

‘Madonna & Cape Gate. Jesus,’ someone wrote along with a laughing face emoji and an embarrassed face emoji.

One viewer commented: ‘@BRITs #britsat40 I will never forget the Madonna cape moment in real time I actually rewinded  that about 20 times soo funny.’

Although Madonna originally shrugged off her epic stage fall, the pop star admitted that she suffered whiplash as a result.

In an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show in February 2015, the 61-year-old called the incident a ‘nightmare’. ‘I had a little bit of whiplash,’ she says. ‘I smacked the back of my head.

‘And I had a man standing over me with a flashlight until about 3 am to make sure I was compos mentis.
‘I had two choices: I could either be strangled or fall, and I chose to fall,’ she added.

Ever the professional, she quickly got back up and continued her performance of new song Living For Love.

We’re sure she must still be traumatised by capes.

Brits At 40 is available to stream on the ITV Hub.

It was drama, drama, drama in the Love Island villa on Tuesday night and it mainly centred around Shaughna Phillips.

As we saw at the end of Monday’s episode Nas Majeed and Eva Zapico left the villa – and we did not see that coming.

Newbie Jamie Clayton also entered the villa and he got to take Shaughna and Demi Jones on a date…but will there be trouble in paradise?

In a first-look, Shaughna clashed with Mike Boateng in the next challenge where he told her to ‘shut up’.

Poor Shaughna just can’t catch a break…

If you missed Tuesday night’s episode, here is our recap of all the drama you missed.

Shaughna clashes with Mike

In a teaser clip for Wednesday’s episode, the singleton appeared to ruffle Mike’s feathers after she read out a headline and took aim at him as she filled in the blank.

‘Love Island’s [blank] branded a snake after his reaction to Shaughna being brutally dumped by Callum’, she read out.

Commenting on the savage headline, Shaughna told the islanders: ‘Some people forget they’re mic’d and on a TV show.’

But Mike had absolutely none of it and, as the camera panned to him, he clapped back.

‘No shut up man, it’s not a game anymore,’ Mike replied angrily. ‘That’s taking the p***.’

Shaughna goes on a date with Jamie – but will there be trouble in paradise?

Shaughna and Demi both went on a date with Jamie as the new bombshell arrived.

After taking them both for a romantic date in this evening’s scenes, the 28-year-old contestant continued to up his game with them.

As he chatted to Shaughna on the bed, she told him: ‘See, my ex was Irish’, to which he replied: ‘Yeah, but your next is Scottish.’

Nas and Eva leave – and he defends his actions for dumping Demi

Nas defended his actions in the villa after he dumped Demi and recoupled with Eva Zapico in Casa Amor.

The 23-year-old admitted that for him, Demi was ‘out of sight out of mind’ when he went into the other villa as he had a ‘better connection with Eva’.

Although it is now bittersweet for the couple as they were booted from the villa in a brutal dumping.

Speaking after his exit, he revealed: ‘Going into Casa Amor, she (Demi) was at the forefront of my mind on day one. But yeah, out of sight, out of mind. When you do have a genuine connection with someone else, it’s impossible to ignore that.

‘I really had to go with my heart over my head.’

Despite dumping Demi, Nas added that he didn’t feel the same way she did.

He continued: ‘I was obviously very flattered. She said, “I’ve only got eyes for you”.

‘She’s a lovely, lovely girl. I really do respect her. In such a short space of time, we went through quite a lot of high-stake decisions, high-emotion decisions and she was really considerate. I cannot fault her.’

Demi gives Luke M mixed signals

Demi and Luke Mabbott shared a kiss, but she is giving the poor Justin Beiber lookalike mixed signals as she revealed she still wants to get to know new boy Jamie….yikes.

Luke M and Demi have been getting close since he was pied off by Natalia Zoppa, but new boy Jamie has his eyes on Demi.

Arriving into the villa on Tuesday’s show, Jamie asked singleton Shaughna Phillips on a date first, before Demi went on his second invite.

When the text arrived on Demi’s phone telling her that Jamie has invited her on a date, Luke started to get worried his hopes of finding love in the villa could be dashed once more.

Demi Jones
Demi admitted she would like to get to know Jamie as well as Luke (Picture: ITV / Love Island)

He admitted: ‘I can’t catch a break in this gaff. A spanner in the works is never good. I’m quite worried to be fair.’

Although Demi admitted she does like Luke, she’s not putting all her eggs in one basket after she did with Nas Majeed.

She said: ‘I’m enjoying getting to know Luke M but I’m not going to make the same mistake as I did with Nas. I’m going to go in with an open mind and just get to know Jamie.’ Uh oh.

It sounds like there will be more drama on the way.

Love Island airs daily at 9pm on ITV2.

Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle revealed she hasn’t had a date for six years – and the last date she went on lasted a whole 45 minutes.

The Scottish singer who rose to fame on the talent show explained that the last time she went out with a man, she didn’t tell anyone and her team thought she had been kidnapped.

The 58-year-old also explained the main reason for steering clear of romance is simply because she is just too busy.

We don’t blame you Susan.

When asked if she goes on dates, the star commented: ‘ You mean go with fellas? No, youngsters may be able to do it, but I haven’t got the time. It is still nice to be asked though. I had a date in America six years ago, which lasted exactly 45 minutes.

‘I went for a massage in the spa of a hotel and met a doctor and then we went out for lunch. I didn’t tell anyone and my team thought I’d been kidnapped.’

‘They were really panicking because I had a show that night. The guy was nice, but he wasn’t for me. I couldn’t be dealing with keeping up with the correspondence,’ she continued to OK Magazine.

Susan wowed viewers (and the judges) on the third series of BGT after she sang I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables.

And while she might not be looking for a man,  she has previously spoken about her desire to have children. Speaking last year, Susan said she was looking into fostering children ‘when things quieten down’ with her career.

She told The Sun: ‘I’m 58 so I’ve got something to bring my family home to. I’ve a lovely house, why not share it?

‘I’ve got a couple who think the world of me. I love kids. I’ve never had any of my own, that’s my biggest regret, but I love kids. They’re good fun to be with.

‘I am happy. I am loving every minute, loving life and bring on the rest.’

Netflix’s Next In Fashion designer Daniel Fletcher discusses moment contestant got smacked in the face by heavy metal

The moment Queer Eye’s Tan France announced he was working on his own fashion series, Next In Fashion, on Netflix, we all screamed with delight as we waited for our favourite French-tuck connoisseur to give us a mind-blowingly binge-able show.

We all had that it would be some form of Project Runway returning to our screens, but we didn’t know how quickly we’d fall in love with how wholesome the contestants are.

Alongside Alexa Chung, Tan searched far and wide for the fashion world’s designers to showcase their jaw-dropping ideas in order to step closer to winning $250,000 that would change their world’s forever, and Daniel Fletcher was one of the lucky 18.

If you haven’t finished NIF, turn away now, because Metro.co.uk had the wonderful opportunity to discuss the ins and outs of the stressful show with the talented runner-up from Chester.

There were many moments from the show that stressed us all out, from the contestants running out of time to create their make-or-break pieces and duos refusing to work together due to creative differences.

What stood out the most was the moment fellow contestant Marco Morante started gushing blood from his face when he got smacked with heavy metal, and Daniel was there to witness.

Marco Morante
Marco was rushed to hospital (Picture: Netflix)

‘It was a lot more dramatic when we were there,’ Daniel told Metro.co.uk. ‘Obviously the people I really got along with were Marco and Ashton and we all have a WhatsApp group. So we were all there like, “Oh, is Marco okay?”

‘He had to get eight stitches in his face. We were all there like, “How did it happen?” It was quite dramatic.’

Despite the setbacks, the entire group got along really well (unlike what we’re used to seeing on America’s Next Top Model) so making sure everyone was okay after a  hard day was simple.

The designers had to rely on each other as the production company took their phones away at 5 am and only returned it to them at 10 pm when they were done for the day.

‘We all lived in a hotel together,’ the brand owner added. ‘We were all exhausted and we’d get back to the hotel at 11 o’clock after filming and go have a Negroni in the bar.

Tan France, Alexa Chung and Daniel Fletcher

Daniel Fletcher and Minju Kim
He and Minju had tough competition (Picture: Netflix)

‘The first four days, I was trying to stick to a routine of going to the gym and looking after myself and it started getting intense. So by day five, I was like, “Ashton, can we go to the bar?”’

Daniel has been climbing up the ladder of success since graduating at Central Saint Martins in 2015.

Not only does he have his own menswear brand, Daniel W Fletcher, but the talented designer has also now finished his first season with the iconic Italian label, Fiorucci.

Coming second to Korean designer Minju Kim hadn’t stopped him from getting where he wanted, even if he has yet to style or dress certain celebrities yet.

Daniel explained: ‘When we were filming it, both of us were like “this is an impossible task”, creating something in three days when we usually spend months on it.

‘We both just really wanted each other to do it, to actually get through. By the end of it, we were just really proud of each other for putting those collections out. I was happy with what I did and by what she did.

‘It didn’t even feel like winning or losing, anymore, it was an accomplishment that we got that far. I got to do something I was really proud of and made new best friends.’

Kourtney Kardashian is reportedly ‘happy’ to be filming less for Keeping Up With The Kardashians as she wants to protect her children.

At the end of season 17, the 40-year-old revealed she had reached ‘breaking point’ with filming for the show, which she stars on alongside her famous family.

After taking a breather from filming for the new series, an inside source claimed that Kourtney had ‘no regrets’.

‘She is happy to be filming less for both herself and the kids,’ the source began.

It has been reported that the mum-of-three was growing concerned with the ‘negative effect’ that growing up in the spotlight could have on her kids.

The star shares Mason, 10, Penelope, 7 and Reign, 5, with ex Scott Disick.

‘As Kourtney and Scott’s kids get older, especially Kourtney feels that public exposure is not really beneficial for the kids.

There are already trolls that post nasty comments about the kids. They are too young to read about it yet, but Kourtney would hate for them to read it as they get older. She feels more and more protective of the kids,’ they continued to PEOPLE.

In other news from the last season, drama is also brewing among the Kardashian clan as viewers watched awkwardly as Kim Kardashian, 39, and Kourtney, clashed and traded insults as their relationship became increasingly strained.

BGUK_1810261 - ** RIGHTS: WORLDWIDE EXCEPT IN UNITED STATES ** Los Angeles, CA - Kim and Khloe Kardashian threaten to fire Kourtney from Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The duo threatened to fire Kourtney after her boundaries hindered their filming schedule. The drama all started after Kim and Khloe thought they spotted a hickey on Kourtney, who stayed coy about the mark and told her sisters to not 'worry about it'.

Whether they were arguing about having sugary sweets at their children’s birthday parties or Kourtney not filming enough for the E! reality series, the sisters just could not see eye-to-eye.

Well, if you were hoping for peace and harmony in the upcoming season 18 of the hit series, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Speaking to Laura Wasser on the All’s Fair podcast, Kim teased: ‘It gets a lot worse before it gets better,’ before revealing the situation even turns a ‘little violent’.

‘But you know, we’re a really close family. It all works out,’ Kim added optimistically.

Ah well, we will just have to wait to see how it all pans out…

Black Mirror’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw is set to star alongside Tom Hiddleston in the upcoming Loki series.

The duo will be teaming up together for the Disney+ hit, although the newcomer’s character details are being kept under wraps.

And while Tom will be reprising his Marvel character, the 39-year-old will be joined by a few familiar faces including Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino.

We last saw Loki savagely being killed off by Thanos in the 2018 movie, Avengers: Infinity War.

However, despite his gruesome murder, the fan favourite made a brief return to the franchise in 2019’s Endgame, all thanks to a little bit of time travel.

And it seems as though the next installment of Loki’s journey will see the God of Mischief’s travels throughout key moments of human history, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series was announced as part of an impressive line-up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which was showcased at San Diego Comic Con in July, last year.

Speaking about his new show to Entertainment Weekly, Tom said: ‘Loki will start at the top of next year.

‘He’s such a classical character. [Thor and Loki], they’re from Norse myths – they have a kind of gravitas to them.’

In the meantime, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will also be returning for a fourth film, with Natalie Portman returning to the franchise as Jane Foster, the God of Thunder’s ex-girlfriend.

Marvel's Loki

Tag-named Love And Thunder, it seems that old feelings might be resurfacing, but we know for sure it will end with Jane assuming the role of the female Thor.

It’ll also feature the first confirmed LGBT character in the MCU, Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson.

Chatting about her new role, the 36-year-old said: ‘First of all, as king, as new king [of Asgard], she needs to find her queen. So that will be the first order of business.’

And MCU boss Kevin Feige confirmed Valkyrie’s sexuality when asked about her having an LGBTQ+ storyline: ‘The answer is yes.

‘How that impacts the story remains to be seen with that level of representation you’ll see across our films, not in just Thor 4.’

Loki will debut on Disney+ in spring 2021, while Thor: Love And Thunder is in cinemas 5 November the same year.

Love Island fans overlook Casa Amor to turn on Shaughna Phillips in row with Mike Boateng: ‘What’s her problem?

$

Love Island fans seem to have forgotten how Mike Boateng and Finley Tapp encouraged Callum Jones to ditch Shaughna Phillips in Casa Amor, despite being particularly close to the democratic services officer.

In a preview of tonight’s instalment, Mike and Shaughna were seen having the biggest row of the series so far during the annual butchery which is the headline challenge.

Various media reports are revealed to the islanders with names omitted and the contestants subsequently have to fill in the blanks.

When Shaughna reads out: ‘Love Island’s [blank] branded a snake after his reaction to Shaughna being brutally dumped by Callum,’ hell ensues.

‘Some people forget they’re mic’d and on a TV show,’ she grins, which is met with quite the reaction from Mike.

‘No shut up man, it’s not a game anymore,’ Mike furiously replies. ‘That’s taking the p***.’

Love Island's Mike Boateng and Shaughna Phillips

Is it though?

While Callum is an adult old (but not quite responsible) enough for putting Shaughna in the bin in favour for Molly Smith, he was undeniably pushed by Shaughna’s pals Mike and Finn who told the scaffolder he was a new man in Casa Amor. Ugh.

Regardless, viewers are siding with Mike on this one because loyalty means nothing to the UK anymore.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.

The champ returns home (Credit; WWE)

WWE fans will be able to see John Cena this week – he’s coming to Friday Night SmackDown.

The 16-time world champion may be more focused on the dazzling lights of Hollywood than the world of wrestling at the moment, but something big could be in the pipeline as the 41-year-old star has been confirmed for the blue brand’s show.

This week, SmackDown comes from his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, and Cena is set to make an appearance as WWE kicks off the Road to WrestleMania 36.

While it’s not known exactly what the Leader of the Cenation has in store for the WWE Universe on Friday, fans will be excited to see him back on WWE TV for the first time since the Raw Reunion show in July last year – while his last SmackDown appearance came over a year ago in January 2019.

John Cena smirks in a WWE ring
What will Cena have in store for the fans? (Credit: WWE)

WWE.com revealed: ‘An icon in the ring and the star of such blockbuster films as Bumblebee, Blockers and the upcoming F9: The Fast Saga, Cena will soon bring his signature “Hustle, Loyalty and Respect” back to SmackDown, as first reported by WWE Backstage on FS1.

‘Whatever this unparalleled Superstar has planned, you won’t want to miss it. ‘

Of course, the superstar has a long history with the blue brand ever since the famed Ruthless Aggression era – which is the subject of a new WWE Network documentary – having made his debut almost 18 years ago when he stepped up and challenged Kurt Angle for his first ever main roster match.

There’s already some speculation Cena could be appearing to set up a match for WrestleMania – which will hail from his current home of Tampa, Florida – particularly after the actor seemingly confirmed he will be involved one way or another.

He recently said: ‘I have great faith in Vince McMahon not only as a boss, but as so much more than that. As a friend, as a mentor.

‘If he were to tell me that he needs me, I would absolutely be active in whatever capacity, whether it would be like last year in New York rapping my way to the ring or the year before being a fan in the stands. There is no job too small.’

Line Of Duty is coming back for a sixth series and we may not have too long to wait (Picture: BBC)

Line Of Duty fans were given an unepected treat on Tuesday as the main cast members were reunited for a season six read-through.

The Beeb shared an image to Instagram of Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Vicky McClure together again, along with cast newcomer Kelly Macdonald – captioning the snap ‘Back to work for this lot at the #LineOfDuty series 6 read-through!’

Yes folks, that much-anticipated series just got a step closer – but just when will we get to see it?

Here’s what we know so far…

When does Line Of Duty season 6 start?

At the moment there’s no confirmed start date for the sixth season of Line Of Duty.

However it’s entirely possible that we could see it before the year is out, with creator Jed Mercurio having previously hinted it could return some time this year.

‘I would hope its some time in 2020, next year,’ he told the Radio Times in 2019.

‘But that’s not something we’re able to confirm.’

The most recent series aired in early 2019 after a two-year gap between series – but Jed has said that if we do get the new series in 2020, it’s likely to be later in the year – as he revealed in October that production was still at the ‘planning stage’.

‘We are working towards a date,’ he said. ‘We can’t confirm everything until things are in place.’

Who is in the cast of Line Of Duty season 6?

Kelly Macdonald

As mentioned above, Kelly Macdonald has joined cast regulars Dunbar, Compston and Maclure for the show’s sixth series.

The Trainspotting actress will play Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder – with her unconventional conduct raising suspicions at AC-12.

‘We’re honoured that Kelly Macdonald will join Martin, Vicky and Adrian in series six of Line of Duty,’ Jed enthused. ‘DCI Joanne Davidson will prove the most enigmatic adversary AC-12 have ever faced.’

Meanwhile, Controller of BBC Drama Piers Wenger, raved: ‘We’re delighted that Kelly Macdonald is coming on board for series six. She’s one of the UK’s most versatile actors and we’re excited for viewers to see what Jed’s scripts have in store for her when she joins the Line of Duty team.’

Although the remainder of the cast hasn’t been confirmed, Jed Mercurio has hinted we can expect ‘secret guest stars’ in the next series.

Now we’re definitely excited.

And, lifting the lid on their romance during a Valetine’s Day game of Mr and Mrs, the 27-year-old confessed she instigates the majority of their rows.

When asked: ‘Who is most likely to start an argument?’, the couple both opted for ‘Mrs’.

Springing to her own defence, the mum-of-two said: ‘He’s always doing stuff wrong, in all fairness.

‘To be fair, I don’t start an argument over nothing, it’s usually you being an absolute wally.’

Dan held his hands up to that, probably in a bid to ward off another row.

The lovebirds haven’t had the easiest few months, after the dad-of-three was forced to deny having a threesome with Natalie Nunn and Chloe Ayling.

The Bad Girls Club star went public with her claims while Jac was taking part on I’m A Celebrity, alleging she had a boozy night with Dan and Chloe, before going back to a hotel room and ‘having sex’.

He was also linked to CBB co-star Gabby Allen, after pictures emerged of the pair looking close on a boat.

Blasting the reports at the time, the reality star fiercely denied all claims and recently issued a length ‘apology’ for all the mistakes he had made in his marriage.

‘So after weeks, months, years of constant articles and rumours, some true, some very untrue. I want to publicly say, I know I have made mistakes, we all do as humans, but I’ve made some that have almost cost me my family,’ he wrote in a social media post.

‘I have seriously learnt from these massively, so I want to publicly apologise to my beautiful wife and my family for the mistakes I’ve made.

‘I am the luckiest man in the world to have what I have with Jacqueline and my three incredible children and I will spend the rest of my life being the best husband and dad that I can be.

‘Jac, myself and our families are excited for the future, one filled with love and happiness together. We truly appreciate everyone that has supported us a couple, we are ending this year stronger than ever.’

Lorraine continues on weekday mornings, at 9am, on ITV.

CBeebies at risk of axe if BBC licence fee is scrapped

CBeebies could be at risk of being axed if the BBC licence fee is scrapped.

CBeebies and CBBC are dedicated channels for children’s TV shows, such as Blue Peter, Teletubbies and Bedtime Stories – which features a host of famous faces

And other popular CBBC programmes could also be under threat if the BBC is put behind a paywall, BBC chairman Sir David Clementi claims.

In his speech in Salford, which will take place today, Sir David Clementi is expected to list examples of huge national events that would no longer be accessible.

‘A subscription service would be unlikely to have much regional presence. It would be very unlikely to continue the level of properly curated programmes for children, or indeed the brilliant Bitesize education services that have helped so many teenagers,’ he will say.

Will Young
It means there could no longer be Bedtime Stories (Picture: BBC)

‘It would not have the same commitment to investing in home-grown ideas and talent, to the benefit of our whole creative sector.’

He will also warn that the BBC would no longer cover national events such as ‘royal weddings or jubilees, or Olympic successes.’

He will continue: ‘Sitting behind a paywall, it would no longer be the place that brings the country together – for the Strictly final, or Gavin & Stacey on Christmas Day, or the Armistice anniversary or Holocaust memorial.’

This speech comes as the BBC is set to increase the licence fee.

The BBC Licence fee currently costs £154.50 annually – although this is set to increase to £157.50.

The increase follows cuts announced to Newsnight, 5Live and other news output as part of a money-saving drive.

The BBC’s plans to ‘modernise its newsroom’ will make savings of around £80m and lead to around 450 job cuts.

The fee is set by the Government, who announced in 2016 that it would rise in line with inflation for five years from April 2017.

At the moment over-75s qualify for a free TV licence – although this is set to change later this year.

This means that only around 1.2m households will now be eligible for the free licence – with around 3.7m expected to miss out.

The decision prompted anger from pensioners and criticism of the BBC, with then Prime Minister Theresa May’s official spokesman saying: ‘We are very disappointed with this decision.

‘We have been clear that we expected the BBC to continue this concession…we want the BBC to look again at ways of supporting older people.’

Ben Shephard shuts down heated Kelvin Fletcher marriage debate on GMB: ‘Let’s leave him alone’

Ben Shephard shut down a heated debate on Good Morning Britain about Kelvin Fletcher’s marriage to his wife Liz Marsland after the actor was spotted drinking until the early hours with his former Strictly partner Oti Mabuse.

ITV presenters Ben and Kate Garraway opened the debate by asking: ‘Is it OK to party without your partner?’

Ingrid Tarrant, ex-wife of former Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? presenter Chris Tarrant, joined the hosts alongside relationship therapist Emiliana Sikvestri and she didn’t hold back.

Emiliana defended Kelvin, stressing: ‘They work together, they dance together and they were on a work’s evening out. It comes down to trust between two people.

‘You can’t be putting restrictions and schedules on a night out.’

Ben then quizzed: ‘It’s hard to see those pics and not jump to the wrong conclusion?’

Ingrid weighed in too, adding: ‘She was upset about it and that says it all as far as I am concerned, she didn’t know about it and that is really disrespectful.

‘There must be history and it’s a big reaction and actions speak louder than words. I don’t think this is the first time he has let her down.

‘I am so suspicious and get quite jaded and sarcastic about these things and then the next day they are spotted at the train station having a kiss – isn’t this just convenient?’

Although it didn’t take long for Ben to shut the debate down as he interjected:  ‘Let’s leave Kelvin alone for a second.’

Fans also quickly took to social media with many defending the Strictly star and agreeing it is OK to go out partying without your partner.

Despite the rumours it seems the couple are moving on from the drama, though, as Kelvin, 36, was seen dropping Liz off at Manchester’s Piccadilly Station on Tuesday afternoon.

While saying their goodbyes, the couple shared a warm hug before having a sweet kiss beside their car.

The pair were seen chatting briefly while, at one point, Kelvin rested his head on Liz’s shoulder during an embrace before parting ways.

Liz was not wearing her wedding ring at the time which initially fuelled rumours of a marriage breakdown, but she has since clarified its whereabouts and there’s no scandal, FYI.

In an Instagram story post later that day, Liz wrote: ‘That ring is heavy. It only comes out on special occasions!

‘Oh and it was fake tan day. #Nodramahere.’

It comes after Kelvin was pictured enjoying a night out with Oti at around 3:30am at London’s Sanctum Soho Hotel.

While there was no suggestion that anything was going on between the friends, hours later, Liz unfollowed her husband of five years on social media.

An insider told the Mail Online: ‘Naturally Liz wasn’t happy after finding out Kelvin had been out late drinking with the Strictly lot.

‘It wasn’t easy for her to see him still out at 3:35am, while she’s at home looking after their two young children. Any woman would be upset if they were in the same situation.’

They continued: ‘In the heat of the moment she unfollowed him on Instagram, it was just a shock for her to see him out so late.

‘But now she’s had the chance to speak to Kelvin face-to-face after he came home and they’re spending today together, she feels silly for unfollowing him and admits she acted on impulse.’

Liz is yet to follow Kelvin but clearly all is well on the Fletcher front.

The couple, who have known each other since childhood, married in 2015 and are proud parents of two children – daughter Marnie, three, and one-year-old son Milo.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to ITV and Kelvin’s reps for comment.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.

This Country star Michael Sleggs wanted his dead body to star in series 3

After This Country star Michael Sleggs tragically died last year, his co-stars have reflected on the ‘mental’ ideas he had for series three of the show.

The actor, who played Michael ‘Slugs’ Slugette in the comedy, died in July aged 33 shortly after announcing that he was terminally ill and didn’t have long to live.

The show’s creator Daisy May Cooper recently opened up about her late friend at a preview screening (via Chortle), explaining: ‘Michael was a close friend of ours, and he… he was sort of ill right before we started filming. We thought he might get better. We thought he might get another wind.’

However, before Michael passed away, he made some pretty peculiar requests for the show, which will be ending after its third series.

‘He had put in deathbed requests for the third series that were absolutely f***ing mental,’ Daisy recalled. ‘He wanted his body, in his coffin, to be in the first episode.’

Director Tom George had to ‘invoke some completely made-up BBC protocol’ to explain to Michael that his funeral couldn’t be filmed.

After Michael sadly passed away last year, tributes poured in from friends and fans.

And Daisy May, along with her brother and co-creator Charlie, opened up to Metro.co.uk about the difficulties of continuing the show without Michael.

‘It was tough having to do it without him because he’s such a huge part of the show both on-screen and behind-the-scenes,’ Charlie told us.

‘He embodied the spirit of the whole thing, so his absence was really hard. He had such a great sense of humour.’

Daisy added: ‘He definitely wanted to be in it. He wanted it to be funny.

‘His family really wanted that and [said] that we should mention it [his death] in a funny way. I hope that we’ve made him proud.’

She also confirmed that they’ve paid tribute to Michael in the best way and enthused: ‘We’ve honoured him in the ultimate Slugs fashion.’

This Country starts 17 February at 7pm on BBC Three.

WWE star Roman Reigns wants Dwayne Johnson match at WrestleMania 37 in Hollywood

WrestleMania 37 is heading to Hollywood – and people are already pitching for Dwayne Johnson to make a sensational return.

The WWE legend is in high demand in the movie world and sports entertainment, and his cousin Roman Reigns has suggested next year’s big event would be the perfect opportunity for an in-ring comeback.

In a video posted by NBC San Diego reporter Fernando Ramirez, the Big Dog said: ‘If there is a stadium to hold… hey, DJ. Check it out, not bad, right?

‘Everyone’s always dream matchin’ me and first of all, we’re family so it’s all love, but if there was going to be an event for him to compete in, to perform in – a venue to hold that mass of attention he’s going to bring, it’s right in your back yard, you know what I mean?

https://www.instagram.com/p/BtEaa8HhfWx

‘You ain’t gotta go far.’

It’s not the first time fans have called for a match between The Rock and Roman – who also starred together in last year’s blockbuster Hobbs & Shaw – and the latter has admitted a potential clash would be ‘huge’.

‘If it’s done right, I think, obviously the star that he is, where he’s at in his career, it would be huge,’ Roman previously said. ‘It would be great. But you know, we’re family, so it has to make sense.

‘And free the guy up; can we get him a break? Can he take a day off? If he can get a week off, then we might be able to make it happen.’

Although Dwayne – whose daughter Simone is now training with WWE – appeared on SmackDown in October last year when he and Becky Lynch attacked King Corbin, he’s not had an official match since he beat Erick Rowan in six seconds at WrestleMania 32.

With the show of shows coming to Hollywood next year, it seems the stars may finally be aligned for a dream return.

Love Island hit with 62 Ofcom complaints as fans mistake Siannise Fudge comment for N-word

Love Island bosses want to set the record straight after the show was hit 62 Ofcom complaints as fans were convinced Siannise Fudge dropped the N-word.

After Shaughna Phillips was dumped by Callum Jones last week, the girls gathered around to chat about the drama.

Shaughna cried: ‘I feel sick, what the f*** am I going to do when I see them getting into bed with each other?’

When Siannise responded, some viewers believed she said the N-word, although show bosses have insisted they’ve got it wrong.

A spokesperson for Love Island told Metro.co.uk: ‘Viewers are mistaken. No one said – and nor would be broadcast – the word in question. We strongly refute any suggestion to the contrary.

‘Siannise actually said “they ain’t no good”.’

At the time there was a mix of opinions from fans, some were shocked while others defended Siannise, saying: ‘It’s just her accent.’

One commented: ‘So Siannise used the N-word on Love Island.’

Another vented: ‘So I hope #LoveIsland are investigating Siannise using the N-word last night?! Because she definitely said it & we ain’t brushing it under no carpet!!’

One added: ‘@LoveIsland can you explain to me why Siannise is still in the villa after dropping the N-word?’

Although some had better hearing than others, with one viewer tweeting: ‘Guys Siannise is saying ‘ ain’t no good ‘ not the n-word… it’s her accent.’

Another agreed: ‘Siannise did not say the n-word last night… she said they ain’t no good. Her Bristol accent is very strong.’

It’s not the first time the TV watchdog has received complaints this series as 35 viewers called in following last Wednesday’s episode prior to Callum’s controversial return to the main villa with new girl Molly.

Ofcom confirmed this number nearly doubled, with an additional 65 complaints being filed after last Thursday’s dramatic instalment where the recoupling was confirmed.

Outside of the Casa Amor shocker, the show received 231 complaints about contestant Ollie Williams’ inclusion after photos of him posing alongside dead animals emerged online.

A further 36 complaints had been filed after Siannise compared Nas to Aladdin.

Love Island made it into the top 10 most complained-about TV moments of the decade thanks to its 2018 series, with 2,644 viewers raising concerns about emotional distress after producers showed clips to Dani Dyer of her then-boyfriend with his ex.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.

Victoria Derbyshire demands reversal of show’s axe as she calls out BBC

Victoria Derbyshire demands reversal of show’s axe (Picture: PA)

The Victoria Derbyshire Show was axed just three weeks ago, and the host has now demanded the decision gets reversed.

Calling out the BBC, the 51-year-old took to Twitter where she hit out at the network’s Editorial Director, Kamal Ahmed.

‘Investigations matter. Original journalism matters. @BBCNews,’ the honcho wrote to his 92,000 followers.

And when quoting his tweet, Victoria added: ‘Do reconsider the decision to close our programme then.’

Fans were quick to comment, where they once again flooded the journalist with support.

‘I just don’t get the logic in ending your show?’ one quizzed while another wrote: ‘Amen to that.’

Someone else chirped up: ‘If they don’t someone else will pick your programme up I am sure.’

And it seems others were all in agreement: ‘Victoria. Loved you since early days if 5 live. You’re classier than to beg. Channel 5 or Sky 1 should take you on at same slot. Keep up good work.’

The star’s show was axed at the end of January after five years of being on air.

At the time, BBC Media Editor, Amol Rajan, confirmed the news on Twitter: ‘The Victoria Derbyshire Show is coming off air. I understand @BBCNews is committed to Victoria + the (award-winning) journalism of the show.

‘Cost of doing it on linear channel when savings are needed deemed too high. BBC declined to comment ahead of an announcement next week.’

Victoria Derbyshire
Victoria has called out the BBC on Twitter (Picture: BBC)

He continued: ‘The show won awards at the RTS and from Bafta. Victoria nominated for Best Presenter four years in a row – and won once.

‘Digital impact was huge. Show was designed to reach audiences the BBC struggles to connect with, and it did – online.’

Victoria has since claimed she wasn’t told about the axe, with Francesca Unsworth, Director, BBC News and Current Affairs later telling Metro.co.uk that they sent an email to all staff regarding the announcement a day after it made headlines.

Talking about the show, the leading lady said on Twitter: ‘Absolutely devastated at the plan to end our programme (which I first learned about in yesterday’s Times). I’m unbelievably proud of what our team and our show have achieved in under 5 years…

‘Breaking tonnes of original stories (which we were asked to do); attracting a working class, young, diverse audience that BBC radio & TV news progs just don’t reach (which we were asked to do); & smashing the digital figures (which we were asked to do)…

‘I’m gutted particularly for our brilliant, young, ambitious, talented team – love ‘em. And for all those people we gave a voice to. Love them too.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to the BBC for further comment.

Stranger Things season 4 cast confirms David Harbour won’t be returning and Hopper is a goner

David Harbour has been ruled out of Stranger Things 4 (Picture: Netflix/Getty)

It’s the worst news imaginable for Stranger Things fans as David Harbour will not be returning as Jim Hopper for season 4 and dreams of the sheriff being ‘The American’ have been crushed.

Season three ended with Hopper sacrificing himself to save Hawkins from the Upside Down as Joyce Byers watched on in horror. However, there was no body and without a corpse to confirm his demise, naturally, there have been countless conspiracy theories pointing to his return.

Then there’s the curious case of The American – an unnamed hostage being held captive by The Russians. Who could it be? Fingers have been pointing to Hopper all this time but if IMDB’s cast list for season four – which has been extended – is anything to go by we may have to think again.

According to the reliable TV and movie site, all the Stranger Things cast heavyweights will be tied to the show until 2021 while David’s time came to an end last year.

The 44-year-old star seemed in the dark over Hopper’s return right up until last December when he couldn’t answer questions about season four because, like the rest of us, he was clueless.

‘We don’t know yet, we don’t know,’ he told fans at a German Comic-con.

‘They won’t tell me anything, so we’ll have to see. I think you’ll find out at some point, we’ll find out at some point. Let’s hope he’s alive.’

However, this could all be a red herring and when the opening credits have rolled we may well see Hopper, dishevelled, in a Russian prison waiting to be saved by Eleven.

Stranger Things 4 is expected to drop on Netflix in 2021.

David Schwimmer congratulates This Morning’s Phillip Schofield on Friends ‘appearance’

It was a dream come true for Phillip Schofield on This Morning, as he got to show Friends star David Schwimmer his iconic ‘appearance’ on the beloved sitcom.

The presenter attended a taping of the show way back in 1999, for the episode The One Where Monica and Richard are Just Friends.

The episode saw Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) and Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) exchanging books, leading to Joey getting wary about diving into Little Women.

When he asks, ‘These Little Women – just how little are they?’ Phil’s laugh is quite distinctively heard in the background.

Showing the clip to David on This Morning, the Ross Geller actor told him: ‘Well done, that was genuinely moving.’

And it’s not just Phil that could be heard in the background, with David admitting he used to be able to pinpoint his mum’s laugh.

‘My parents, they live in LA where we shot the show, occasionally they’d come in…my mum has a very distinctive laugh,’ he recalled.

David Schwimmer
David and co-star Nick Mohammed opened up about the new show (Picture: ITV)

‘My sister would say, “Do you hear mum in the background?”’

The actor is currently starring in new comedy Intelligence, and he was quick to point out that not having a live studio audience can make you start to doubt yourself.

‘It’s tricky because the show we’re making is single camera, we have to really trust that what we’re doing is funny because you don’t have the immediate feedback,’ he explained to Phil and co-star Holly Willoughby.

In the new series, David will play NSA agent Jerry who is struggling to get to grips with life in the UK as he joins the GCHQ team, putting his foot in his mouth several times along the way.

From ripping off Wikipedia for legit police briefings to joking that he was expecting his boss to be a man, it clearly might take him some time to settle down in the office. In a bid to make his presence known, he teams up with tactless computer analysist Joseph (Nick Mohammed) – which ends up disrupting the cyber-terrorism gang even more.

Chatting about his character, David explained to Radio Times: ‘It’s really fun for me to play because it’s quite cathartic. It’s taking all the stuff that’s upsetting or angering me in the current climate – at least in my country, if not both of ours – and putting it into human form.

‘While we are never explicit about what political party Jerry belongs to, his arrogance combined with his ignorance and his misogyny, homophobia, racism, and aggression is reminiscent of…You know, it’s reminiscent of a lot of our politicians at this time.’

Consider us intrigued.

Love Island spoiler: Shaughna admits she has feelings for Luke M and we did not see this coming

We didn’t see this one coming (Picture: ITV)

Love Island always throws some spanners in the works – and tonight’s episode offers up a couple we did not see coming.

And neither did the rest of the islanders.

Newly single Shaughna Phillips realises she might have feelings for Luke Mabbott, leaving bestie Paige Turley taken aback.

Shaughna has been on a date with new boy Jamie, and while we thought it went well, she already has her eye on someone new.

Chatting to Mike Boateng, she admits: ‘Do you know who I do get along with? Luke M…’

Mike says: ‘He’s a cool guy. Do you think you could possibly go there?’, with Shaughna saying she’s unsure.

She says: ‘I think since Jamie has come into the villa and been chatting to me and what not, it’s made me realise some things. I think I might have some feelings for Luke M.’

And of course, the bombshell gets back to Finn and Paige.

Speaking in the Beach Hut, Paige toys with the idea of the romance, saying: ‘Initially I was shocked. But maybe when you put all the pieces together, I’m shocked I’ve not seen it before.

‘Every time he walks by, Shaughna drops him comments, every time he’s there, they flirt. She married him in the Snog, Marry… Pie game. Maybe the signs have been there and we’ve just never asked the question. So it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.’

Shaughna later confides in Paige and Finn and admits she was buzzing when things didn’t work out between Luke and Natalia.

Paige asks: ‘Why would you not stand up and be counted?’, with Shaugna saying: ‘Because I love Demi.’

‘You know Demi, she’s going to be understanding,’ Paige says.

‘You need to say to Demi first before you say to Luke… you’ve got nothing to lose.’

After being ditched by Natalia after Casa Amor, Luke shared a kiss with Demi.

However, considering Demi ruffled Luke’s feathers by saying she open to getting to know Jamie, we can imagine this news might go down quite well with him. But will be Demi be on board?

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2.
