Snow Chick: A Penguin’s Tale had it all – laughs, tears, drama and a lot of very, very cute animals falling over and being adorable.

The story of one tiny Emperor penguin and its struggle to survive in Antarctica, which was broadcast tonight on BBC1, was a rollercoaster of emotions.

Producer John Downer said: ‘For this tiny creature to survive in the most brutal conditions on Earth is a true adventure.’

Viewers were hooked on the heart-warming drama, which was beautifully narrated by Oscar winner Kate Winslet, with many demanding one for Christmas.

Uh oh. Looks like the final season of BBC singing contest The Voice has kicked off with a bang after new judges Paloma Faith and Boy George had a bitter fight in front of audiences.

Host Marvin Humes revealed the argument on Alan Carr’s special Christmas episode of Chatty Man, admitting that ‘there were tears’ and ‘it was an explosive day’.

He also told fans of the show that they ‘will see’ the fight on the show, adding that ‘it went on for about half an hour’.

The spat kicked off when Boy George reportedly spent a long time fighting for an auditionee and Paloma began to fake snore.

The former Girls Aloud singer has become the latest famous name to be tipped for the Channel 4 winter sports show The Jump.

Get your tissues ready because the death in EastEnders on Christmas.

Lorna Fitzgerald, who plays Abi Branning in the soap, has warned fans they’ll be shedding tears tomorrow as the festive one-hour special airs.

We know someone dies. We don’t know who (although some of you have your own theories).

Speaking of the tear-jerking festive plot, Lorna said: ‘That is sad actually who dies. I didn’t even know about it.’

Lorna, who has played Abi since 2006, also admitted she’s looking forward to Jake Wood’s return next year as she misses being around her on-screen family on set.

‘It’s quite strange really. It’s completely different,’ she added to the Mirror. ‘Now I work a lot with Steve [McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell] Harry [Reid, who plays Ben Mitchell], Jamie [Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown], Letitia [Dean, who plays Sharon Mitchell]. I feel like I lost a bit of something but you get over it.’

It’s been a staple of the TV schedules for the past few decades – but now Countryfile is about to get even bigger.

Yes, the BBC One Sunday night show – which has seen its viewing figures reach an all-time high in 2015 – is getting its own daytime spin-off show in 2016.

Countryfile Diaries, to give it its full name, the week-long series will follow the changing pattern of country life through the seasons – coinciding with the series’ seasonal specials.

Daytime controller Dan McGolpin said it would enable viewers to ‘further enjoy the full splendour and sheer variety of life in the British countryside… Read the full story


Orange Is The New Black’s version of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas is amazing

Orange Is The New Black fans have been waiting with baited breath for the fourth series of the show to air, but the cast have just given fans a special Christmas treat that will surely help the time go faster.

The stars of the Netflix show have filmed a special OITB version of classic poem A Visit from St. Nicholas (or ’Twas The Night Before Christmas) which they’ve renamed ‘Twas A Night In Litchfield.

Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Taryn Manning and Uzo Aduba all appear in the video, which shows the inmates recounting exactly what went down when Father Christmas paid them a visit.

Tony Jordan, creator of BBC’s new show, Dickensian, knows he may be ‘pissing off the Dickens community’ – but boy, are they going to be pissed while watching an epic TV show.

The 20-part series of half hour episodes by former EastEnders executive producer cleverly mash-up everyone’s favourite Dickens stories –  The Old Curiosity Shop sits next to The Three Cripples Inn, and Fagin’s Den is hidden down the alley – and bring them crashing into each other’s lives.

After all, why wouldn’t these shadowy characters from the back streets of Victorian London know each other?

Michelle Dockery has warned that the finale of Downton Abbey will be an epic weepie.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she said: ‘We’ve had some dramas.

‘There’s still lots of twists and turns in the special and I think the audience will be sad, but it ends on a positive note.’

The interview with the actress, who plays Lady Mary, was pre-recorded on the set of Downton Abbey earlier this year.
