James Arthur rules out X Factor All-Stars role as it ‘doesn’t make sense’ to take part

James Arthur is pretty adamant that he’s never taking part in X Factor All Stars – admitting that he simply doesn’t want to take part in the upcoming series.

X Factor is getting a major overhaul later this year with a rumoured two special series (a celeb series and an all-stars) replacing the typical one.

But, after winning the show in 2012, James is pretty sure that he’s not going to be heading back to the stage for a new competition.

He told Daily Star Online at Radio One’s Big Weekend: ‘I don’t think it is really necessary.

‘Maybe if I wasn’t still on the radio and selling out shows then it may be something that I could really enjoy, but right now it doesn’t make sense.’

His admission comes after he told Metro.co.uk back in February that he was simply ‘too busy’ with his tour commitments and new music to take part.

James is currently signed to Simon Cowell’s SyCo records, after being dropped from the label in 2014 only to be brought back two years later.

He remains the only act that Simon has signed twice.

While he might not be up for the competition himself, the star appeared at the X Factor live finals last year, performing a version of The Greatest Showman’s Rewrite The Stars alongside Anne-Marie.

He also collaborated with series winner Dalton in his winner’s single, a cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s The Power Of Love – which charted at number four.

The singer’s third album is due for release later this year.

The X Factor returns later this year on ITV.

Love Island’s Casa Amor ‘will return with a new twist’ after axe rumours

Casa Amor could be making a comeback after all (Picture: Rex)

Good news! Love Island’s Casa Amor will reportedly return after all – though it won’t be giving the islanders much of a shake up this time around.

After rumours that the series had given the twist the axe after using it for the past three years, it’s now been reported that it’s not entirely accurate.

Instead, the secondary villa will be used to spice up love lives instead of throwing spanners in the works of potential love pairings.

‘Casa Amor is more likely to open its doors to boost romance than start wars. It’s going to help romances rather than split people up,’ a source told Daily Star.

When approached by Metro.co.uk however, Love Island reps didn’t give anything away and said: ‘We haven’t confirmed any show format points and won’t be until the show is underway.’

In previous series, the group have been divided by Casa Amor – with relationships tested as the men are introduced and forced to temporarily couple up with new women in order to test their loyalty to their main couple.

The long hot summer is about to begin again… (Picture: RightMove)

Dani Dyer, who won last year with Jack Fincham, was seen visibly distressed as she was shown an edited video of Jack being re-introduced to his ex-girlfriend after he was taken away to the other villa.

Georgia Steele was also seen heartbroken as she chose to remain with Josh after his time in Casa Amor, only to discover he had chosen to couple up with the girl he met while there.

Could the troublesome house be making a comeback after all?

With just over a week to go before the team go ‘back to day dot’ and start a new series with a group of single Islanders, Love Island has been upping its game to make sure everyone involved has their mental health kept in check.

The changes come after two former Love Islanders – Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis – died by suicide following their time in the villa.

As a result, the show has come under fire for its aftercare programme, which has now been fully revised to include 14 months of care after the show ends, financial and social media advice and therapy should they need it.

But host Caroline Flack has hit back at the backlash the show has received – claiming that it’s unfair that the show has become a ‘scapegoat’ in the debate about mental health and reality TV.

Love Island returns 3 June on ITV2.

This is why Lucifer never uses the f-word (but will season 5 change that?)

Tom Ellis - Lucifer Devils Eyes
Lucifer’s attitude may be dark – but he’s keeping his language PG (Picture: Netflix)

Lucifer’s team have been more than honest about the fact that they’ve liked having room to play with their more devious side thanks to the Netflix move.

Heading over from your typical television cycle, the gang are now allowed more nudity, violence, and certain storylines than ever before.

…But for some reason, they are yet to pull the trigger on swearing or using the f-word even though they can now (and it’s not like Lucifer or Maze to hold back on getting a little foul-mouthed if need be).

Speaking about that choice, Showrunners Joe Henderson told TVLine: ‘We tried an F-bomb and it just felt a little weird. It was good that we tried it, because we sort of wanted to see how it felt.

It’s like when you get a toy and you start playing with it, and then you start to realize that maybe this toy, as fun as it is to play with, isn’t the right toy to play with on the show.’

‘We also didn’t want it to feel unnecessarily profane,’ he added. ‘We did say ‘s**t’ a couple times. And we used a ‘bulls**t’ when absolutely necessary, or we tried to.’

With that in mind, we wonder how long the series is going to stick to this rule – particularly as it’s almost a dead cert that our King Of The Underworld will be back for a fifth season (they just need to actually say the words).

In a Q&A on Friday night, Joe was joined by co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich and leading man Tom Ellis to talk about what could happen in the show’s future.

While they kept reminding us ‘only if we get a season five’ – it appears that a lot of work has gone in to the hypothetical question… including plot lines, returning characters, and the joke of having full frontal nudity.

Basically, they’re being devilish with us, and our Deckerstar loving hearts.

Until then, at least we have four seasons to enjoy.

Lucifer seasons 1-3 are available on Amazon Prime Video, and season 4 is available on Netflix.

Stranger Things season 3: All the films inspiring this year’s game-changing adventure

Stranger Things / Jurassic Park / Indiana Jones
Meet the films influencing this year’s adventures (Picture: Paramount, Netflix, Universal )

Stranger Things season three is shrouded in mystery – but the films that have influenced the upcoming episodes could hold a major key into what to expect.

The upcoming episodes will be going full 80s as the kids end up on a new adventure in Hawkins, Indiana, with very little of the plot yet to be revealed.

However, showrunners The Duffer Bros have confirmed to Entertainment Weekly what films helped them craft the upcoming episodes and, frankly, it’s one hell of a mixed bag.

First up, they’ve named the films of David Cronenberg as a particular influence. In the 80s, he became known for some particularly creepy horror movies, most notably 1986’s The Fly with Jeff Goldblum.

This seems to fit in pretty neatly with another alien horror movie The Thing, which was also named as an influence.

Could the fan theory that Billy Hargrove is about to become this season’s monster be true as a result of this…?

Then, a bit out of left field, they’ve thrown in the Robert DeNiro buddy cop comedy Midnight Run – which we’re hoping with all of our hearts has something to do with Steve and Dustin’s friendship.

Romancing the Stone, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park were present and correct for the representation of action movies in the show’s repertoire (and pretty much solidifies their love of Jeff Goldblum, we’re hoping).

Then there’s Fast Times At Ridgemont High – a teen movie based on the raunchy exploits of a group of teens into sex, drugs and rock and roll (led by Sean Penn during his stoner surfer dude phase).

Stranger Things
Everything’s changing in the upcoming episodes (Picture: Netflix)

Obviously, there’s a far bit to unpack here, and what it could mean for our main squad as they continue to fight aliens and the unknown while dealing with high school and each other.

If only they can figure out what all these movies will mean to them.

Either way, we’re excited.

In the meantime, there’s a lot to keep us busy – with the first look of the show revealing that the local swimming pool will be involved somehow (as well as the new Starcourt Mall, where Steve is working and the kids are hanging out at).

With everything to play for, there’s a promise that ‘everything is changing’ – which we will also get to experience ourselves as Secret Cinema launches an immersive experience based on the series.

Stranger Things season 3 drops 4 July on Netflix.

Britain’s Got Talent: KNE’s Kyle reveals new lease of life after depression nearly made him quit music business

Kyle Britain's Got Talent
Kyle told us his previous band experience nearly put him off music for life (Picture: Rex)

Britain’s Got Talent’s dance troupe KNE are celebrating heading into the live semi-finals today – but one member has admitted that depression nearly stopped him from performing ever again.

Kyle, who charmed the judges (and especially David) with his routine, had previously got a taste of fame with bands Fundamentals in the early 00s – but the breakdown of the group caused him to turn his back on the industry.

Instead, he became a teaching assistant for children with autism and learning disabilities, but a chance connection with bandmate Isha has put him firmly back in the game.

‘The truth of that is, the group that I was in before, when that came to an end, I didn’t want to do music anymore,’ he exclusively told Metro.co.uk. ‘I was really…That whole breakdown really hurt me and I would say I was very depressed for about a year, I didn’t really want to go back into music at all.’

However, while he gave up on the music industry, a friend in the business wasn’t quite ready to give up on him, and Kyle revealed that a producer named Michael eventually gave him the kick he needed to restart his career.

He told us: ‘Michael just had a belief in me that I didn’t have in myself, and he kind of got me back into liking music a little bit – not enough to do it, but I always told myself if I wanted to do music, I didn’t just want to stand there and sing.’

Kyle KNE Britain's Got Talent
Kyle has a new boost of energy for his music career with KNE (Picture: Rex)

‘That wasn’t how I was raised – I was raised on Usher and Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and Fred Astaires. I wanted to perform,’ he added.

‘So, that’s how I met Isha, so I got in contact with Isha because I saw him do some choreography on Instagram, and I loved it so much I reached out and went “I want that! What can we do?”’

Isha, 31, worked as an Amazon delivery driver and dance teacher when he became involved in what would soon become KNE, and had previous ties with BGT thanks to dancing with troupe Nemesis back in 2008.

However, Isha is quick to assert that 11 years is a long time in the world of BGT – to the point that it gives him next to no advantage.

KNE Dancer - Britain's Got Talent
KNE are now through to the semi-finals starting live next week (Picture: Rex)

‘I don’t even feel like I’m going through the same show, it’s very different,’ Isha told us. ‘The way we approached it was very different. With Nemesis, we didn’t really have any expectations, we were all really young, we just kind of threw ourselves in and hoped for the best!

‘We didn’t know what we could get from the show, and didn’t think we were really that good. With KNE, it’s similar but we felt it was the right time to step things up so when we applied for BGT, we felt prepared and we felt ready.’

But with so many dance groups coming before them, KNE as a whole are now aiming to do more, and make sure that they stand out from those that have come before them – though the pressure is certainly there for them.

‘The public have now seen everything, dance, street dance and commercial, and it’s hard to surprise people any more.

‘So we’ve been feeling the pressure to find a way to surprise the British public with a brand new kind of dance act that they hopefully haven’t seen before.’

Thankfully, the judges liked what they saw, and as of today, they were officially announced to be part of the live shows.

Will their big gamble pay off at this week’s live shows? Only one way to find out…

Britain’s Got Talent live shows start Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.

Kath Thompson is our Prime Minister (Picture: ITV)
Britain’s Got Talent served up some spectacularly timed irony in the final round of auditions, which saw a Theresa May impersonator fail to make it through to the semi-finals.

Kath Thompson, 57, dressed up as the Prime Minister for a comedy dance routine, emulating Theresa’s classic strut to ABBA’s Dancing Queen before stripping off and twirling with EU and British flags.

Her act managed to impress judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden, who sent her through with four yeses to the next stage of the competition.

Speaking about the act, Walliams said: ‘It is one of the most fun things I’ve ever seen in my life.

‘If this doesn’t sell Brexit, I don’t know what will.’

Much like Theresa’s Brexit negotiations, however, Kath hit a wall when it came to her pursuit of a place in the live semi-final, with the judges deciding to send her home.

Announcing Kath hasn’t made it through, Walliams said: ‘I’m sorry it’s a no. You’re all super talented people and I’m sorry we didn’t have room for you in the live shows.’

Speaking afterwards, Kath said: ‘I’m a bit fed up about the lack of confidence.’

In case the irony has flown over your head, Theresa May resigned as Prime Minister on Friday 25 June, a day before the episode aired.

Theresa will still officially serve as PM until 7 June, but it didn’t stop the jokes flying in the online realm.

What a day to be alive.

A whopping 40 acts made it through to the show’s live semi-finals, which are set to kick off on Monday 27 May and continue throughout the week.

Thandie Newton was kicking butt and taking names in the latest shoot for season three of Westworld – and she did it all in Ugg boots.

The British actress was spotted in Spain for the latest scenes on the fantasy series, which is due for release next year.

Dressed in 1940s dress, Thandie was seen choking out a man dressed as a German WWII soldier – adding fuel to the fire that there’s a new world to explore when the series returns.

Shunning her body double, who was ready to take over when needed, Thandie was seen fighting her own battles quite literally (though she made the wise decision of kicking off her shoes and wearing the Uggs instead).

After being completely absent from the new trailer for season three, things are back on track for her character Maeve, as she shot scenes.

Even her presence is a spoiler, as it appeared Maeve was killed off while saving her daughter who ventured to the Valley Beyond.

At the end of the confrontation with Clementine’s devastating virus, however, techs were seen attempting to salvage hosts from the wreckage.

Westworld season three is scheduled to release on HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2020.

Britain’s Got Talent viewers livid after judges put through controversial acts into live semi-finals

There were some controversial inclusions sent through to the semi-finals (Picture: ITV)

Britain’s Got Talent viewers have been left dismayed after certain controversial acts made it through to the show’s semi-final.

The latest episode marked the last round of auditions for the 2019 series, featuring Theresa May impersonators and Ant and Dec dressed as Disco Dogs.

As judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams whittled down the acts put through to 40 semi-finalists, there were some inclusions which received a divisive response.

Two acts particularly were a point of contention. Ursula Burns, 48, who straddled a harp while singing Snow Patrol, managed to make it through to the live finals – even though people were baffled she was voted through to begin with.

Another controversial inclusion was Guy First, who used his hands to fart his way through renditions of Ghostbusters and Eye Of The Tiger.

The decision to put these acts through was also harder to swallow after favourites like Derek Sandy, who sang his own chirpy song about the Isle Of Wight, was sent home.

Safe to say viewers weren’t entirely on board with all the judges’ choices.

You can check out the full list of semi-finalists here.

Mel B breaks down in tears to Piers Morgan as fans praise ‘brave and honest’ interview

Mel B - Piers Morgan Life Stories
Mel gave a no holds barred interview to Piers Morgan (Picture: ITV)

Mel B has been praised by viewers after breaking down in tears during an emotionally raw chat on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

The Spice Girl, who has been known for her bold and bawdy attitude, was seen struck silent as she was quizzed about her failed relationships, her suicide attempts and her fellow band members.

But the moment that caused her to break down was her final memory of her dad, and how she regrets cutting him out of her life for then-husband Stephen Belafonte.

Choking up and struggling to talk, she told the presenter: ‘I felt really bad, because I hadn’t seen him in so long and then I see him like that, I felt really bad and I felt really angry at my ex-husband and I felt really bad for my kids.’

‘I’ve always felt bad, but I couldn’t tell him,’ the singer continued. ‘Right before, I said to him “You can go now because I have to go and divorce this monster” and he just looked at me and took his last breath.’

Mel credits her final moments with her dad, who passed away in March 2017, as the motivation she needed to leave husband Stephen Belafonte – triggering one of the most complicated and divorces in recent celebrity history.

‘That [Dad’s last message] gave me the strength, because I’d said it to my dad, so now I have to do it. I just wish he was here, to see him one more time and all that sort’ve stuff.

‘If only I had got out of that relationship sooner, I could’ve spent more time with him, more time with my family, dnd not damaged everything in the process.

‘But at least I got to see him, and he gave me that strength.’

Viewers were stunned at the star’s candid honesty, and praised her for not holding back.

Mel’s Life Stories episode has been anticipated for months after it was revealed back in March that she had let slip that she had a sexual relationship with Geri Halliwell (now Horner) while in the Spice Girls.

She also labelled Victoria ‘a bit of a b***h’ in another funny moment when she discussed the band’s dynamic, admitting she was ‘gutted’ that Posh spice wouldn’t be on tour with them.

In other candid moments, Mel opened up about having a breast enlargement, shutting down Piers Morgan for referring to it as a ‘boob job’, as well as other ‘nips and tucks’.

She also shut down discussion about her sexuality, saying she refused to be labelled, and confessed she kept the tattoo of her ex-husband’s name (which she had cut out of her by a surgeon) in a cupboard in her house.

Piers Morgan’s Life Stories is available on ITV Player now.

7 Netflix shows to binge-watch if you love Jane The Virgin

Jane The Virgin
If you love Jane The Virgin, you’ll love these Netflix faves (Picture: Poppy Productions, Getty)

Jane The Virgin is just over two months away from leaving our screens forever, with our favourite telenovela tale coming to an end.

With Gina Rodriguez and co already packing up and saying goodbye to the series, it’s hard for us to imagine life without it.

So, we at Metro.co.uk have created a list of shows that fellow fans can sink their teeth into once the finale airs.

Love stories? Scandal? A huge dope of female empowerment? We got you covered.

Here are just seven shows we reckon could be up to the task of filling the void Jane leaves behind….

Crazy Ex Girlfriend

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend -- "I Hope Josh Comes to My Party!" -- Image Number: CEG103a_134.jpg -- Pictured (L-R): Santino Fontana as Greg (back to camera) and Rachel Bloom as Rebecca -- Photo: Lisa Rose/The CW -- ???? 2015 The CW Network, LLC. All rights reserved.
Rebecca Bunch is what you would be like in a relationship if your brain didn’t tell you to stop doing it (Picture: Netflix)

Tired of her New York job, Rebecca’s chance run in with her ex-boyfriend from camp as a teenager sparks a move across the country to West Covina, California in a bid to win him back.

Told through her eyes and her own personal musical monologues, Rebecca’s desperate attempts for love come at an astonishing cost to her psyche and her friendships.

However, as time goes on, the series’ brazen and open discussion of mental health will grab your heart, as will Rebecca and her quest to find the one.

But overall, the female friendship group she makes along the way prove to be the biggest lifeline of all.

One Day at a Time

ONE DAY AT A TIME
One Day At a Time has come and gone too soon but there’s a whole lot of love to watch (Picture: Netflix)

Annoyingly cut off just when it started really taking off, One Day At A Time has been given the axe after three seasons – and fans aren’t happy.

It’s easy to see why, given that the show dealt with some serious issues of live as a Cuban-American, female-led family through the eyes of a heartwarming sitcom.

Following Penelope’s attempts to raise her two children Elena and Alex with the help of her mother, after leaving her husband, and the Army, which gave her PTSD as a result.

Over the course of the series they deal with alcoholism’s effect on the family, the MeToo movement and Penelope’s daughter coming out as gay.

It’s just a shame we aren’t getting any more episodes.

Someone Great

Something for the Gina Rodriguez fans out there – Someone Great is a film rather than a series, for a quick fix of  comedy goodness.

As two best friends prepare to part ways, Gina’s character has a lot on her mind as she has to leave New York for San Francisco, while dealing with a break-up with her boyfriend of nine years.

An incredible soundtrack, a New York city caper, and a bit of scandal thrown in, it’s just what you need for something to quickly fill your time.

Or have a night in with the girls with some popcorn and some boy gossip. Your call.

Dynasty

Dynasty (Picture: CBS)
This modern remake is the closest thing the English speaking world has come to its own telenovela (Picture: CBS)

A remake of the classic 80s soap opera that turned Joan Collins into a superstar, Dynasty’s latest remake definitely has a flare for the dramatic.

Willing to take the plot line into some seriously weird and wacky places, this is telenovela scandal at its finest.

Following the lives of the snobby and rich elite, there’s fashion, fortune, and a whole lot of cat-fighting as the Carringtons and Colbys go to war.

Cleared for a third season, you have time to catch up on it.

Gilmore Girls

GILMORE GIRLS
The Gilmore Girls adventures in love are hard not to adore (Picture: Netflix)

An oldie but a goodie, Gilmore Girls has seven seasons and a four-part special for you to zoom your way through, so you’ll be kept busy for a while.

Following the story of Lorelai and daughter Rory, who she had as a teenager, the pair’s close bond is only amplified when it comes to boys, and dealing with Lorelai’s overbearing parents.

Growing pains and boy troubles are all very much in Jane the Virgin territory, so this is definitely one for you.

Plus, the town of Star’s Hollow is insanely pretty to look at, as are the love triangles Rory seems to continuously find herself in.

The Good Place

THE GOOD PLACE -- "Derek" Episode 208 -- Pictured: (l-r) William Jackson Harper as Chidi, Ted Danson as Michael, Kristen Bell as Eleanor, Jason Mantzoukas as Derek -- (Photo by: Colleen Hayes/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images)
The Good Place is definitely one to watch (Picture: Netflix)

Religion, what constitutes being a good person, and how you need your friends around you are all things Jane and The Good Place have in common.

It follows the story of Eleanor, who after being killed after being run over by a viagra van lands herself in heaven, realises she’s not supposed to be there.

Finding friends along the way, things take some crazy twists that could be taken straight out a telenovela, but always has a good heart and message at its core.

Chuck in a cast including Kristen Bell, Ted Danson and Jameela Jamil, and you’ll be sold by the end of the first episode.

Dead To Me

Dead To Me
Female friendships, unseen twists and a whole lot of drama makes Dead to Me a new fave (Picture: Netflix)

A new one but a good one to add to the list, Dead To Me centres on two women who are coming to terms with loss.

While we may still be waiting for news on a season two, Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini’s unlikely friendship is witty and charming (and very, very sweary).

With more twists and turns than anyone can see coming, the show will keep you on your toes – then just when you think you know what’s going to happen, it sends you the other way.

Half hour episodes make them easy bitesize things to watch on the go – but you’re going to want to binge this.

Mel B keeps tattooed chunk of skin with her ex’s name on it in a cabinet after having it cut out of her body

Mel B wasn’t messing when she said she wanted to cut her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte out of her life and literally had his name, that was tattooed onto her back, cut off of her body.

The Spice Girl went one step further than just having the inking removed and asked a surgeon friend to physically cut it out of her back following the ex-couple’s bitter split.

Appearing on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Mel revealed that she actually still has the tattooed chunk of skin and she keeps it in a bottle, in her cabinet.

No, we’re not kidding.

Piers joked: ‘It’s like Silence of the Lambs, what are you gonna do with it?’ to which Mel replied: ‘That’s a reminder to me that I have cut him out of my life. I’ve left him.’

She explained that she never wanted to get the tattoo of Stephen’s name in the first place, especially after realising the design wouldn’t just be his name but an entire sentence.

‘It was a bloody long sentence, “Stephen til death do us part, you own my heart,”‘ Mel revealed. ‘So, you can understand why I didn’t want to get that tattooed on me.’

She claims she gave in after an argument and ended up having it etched all the way down her back.

Mel and Stephen were married for 10 years and split in 2017, with the singer later accusing her ex of abuse and detailing the allegations in her autobiography Brutally Honest.

Stephen has denied all claims made against him. His high-profile divorce from Mel was finalised in August last year.

In the tell-all interview with Piers, Mel is seen discussing everything from her failed relationships, her suicide attempts and her fellow Spice Girls.

The emotionally raw and honest chat saw Mel praised by viewers, who complimented her for not holding back in front of the cameras.

One moment saw Mel break down in tears as she remembered her final moments with her dad and explained how she regrets cutting him out of her life for her then-husband.

Choking up and struggling to talk, she said: ‘I felt really bad, because I hadn’t seen him in so long.

‘Then I see him like that, I felt really bad and I felt really angry at my ex-husband and I felt really bad for my kids.’

Love Island contestants have been ‘axed after failing to pass surprise drug tests’ ahead of new series

Several Love Island hopefuls have reportedly been axed from the new series after failing drug tests (Picture: ITV)

Several Love Island hopefuls have been left gutted after reportedly already getting the boot from the new series, after failing to pass a surprise drug test.

It’s reported that show bosses sprung the tests on its hopefuls ahead of picking the final line-up and ‘dozens’ were cut after being found with cocaine, ketamine and cannabis in their system.

It’s reportedly the first time drug testing has taken place ahead of the show airing.

An insider told The Star on Sunday that this year’s contestants were asked to provide a urine sample for testing.

‘They weren’t warned, so it came as a surprise,’ they said. ‘That’s the only way to do it, if people are told way in advance, they can take steps to avoid getting caught.’

The source added: ‘The dozens who were caught were gutted. Some of them were really good contenders who would have probably made it into the final line up.’

Metro.co.uk have reached out to a rep for Love Island.

The excitement for the dating show’s new series is already reaching fever pitch and fans (us included) are already counting down until its return.

Ahead of the show, ITV have so far confirmed that fans will see the return of the notorious Casa Amor, despite rumours the secret villa had been axed.

In a new twist, the secondary villa will now be used to spice up love lives instead of throwing spanners in the works of potential love pairings.

‘Casa Amor is more likely to open its doors to boost romance than start wars. It’s going to help romances rather than split people up,’ a source told Daily Star.

Usually, the guys are sent to Casa Amor and paired up temporarily with a bunch of new girls to brutally test the villa’s current couples.

Caroline Flack will be back as host this year and ahead of jetting out to Mallorca for another long, hot summer, she has been busy defending the show.

Love Island came under fire and its after-care for contestants was criticised following the death of Mike Thalassitis in March.

Caroline Flack arrives on Love Island

Mike had taken his own life just a year after series two contestant Sophie Gradon committed suicide in 2018.

Love Island bosses have now boosted their after-care services as a result and Caroline says she won’t let the show become a ‘scapegoat’ – she insists Love Island is still a ‘feel-good’ show.

‘The show is a journey of love and emotions that everyone can relate to and learn from. We are a feelgood show,’ she told Metro newspaper.

‘When something becomes popular there seems to be a desire to pull it to pieces and over-analyse it. This is about young singletons having fun, getting to know each other, in an amazing villa in the Spanish sun.’

Love Island returns 3 June on ITV2.

Mel B refuses to define her sexuality: ‘I don’t think I have to’

Spice Girls star Mel B has revealed on Pies Morgan’s Life Stories that she refuses to slap a label on her sexuality.

The 43-year-old singer, who was praised for her ‘brave and honest’ interview, explained that it’s pointless for her to define herself and that she doesn’t prefer one gender over the other.

Mel’s admission was made when Piers, 54, asked: ‘How would you define your sexuality?’

‘I don’t,’ replied Mel. ‘I don’t think I have to because you fall in love with whoever you fall in love with.’

‘And I just don’t have a preference,’ she added with a gleeful giggle.

In the same interview Mel opened up about rumours that she had a night of passion with Geri Horner at their height of their fame, saying that her boobs were ‘great.’

‘She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house and her husband,’ Mel said in a clip released back in March.

‘But it’s a fact. It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it.

‘We were best friends. It just happened. Have you ever done that? Yeah and I’ve said it now. All done.’

It was rumoured that Mel and Geri had a falling out after their one night stand was outed, however they laughed off feud claims as they kicked off their Spice Girls reunion tour in Dublin on Saturday.

Although the night was marred by sound issues in the stadium, the duo proved once and for all that friendship really does never end, joking around and hugging on stage at Croke Park Stadium.

Piers Morgan’s Life Stories is available to stream on the ITV Hub.

Love Island axes lie detector challenge ahead of 2019 series following television suicides

Love Island has reportedly axed the lie detector challenge (Picture: ITV)

Love Island bosses have decided to get rid of the lie detector challenge for the forthcoming 2019 series according to reports.

The decision comes after Steve Dymond took his own life after failing a polygraph test on The Jeremy Kyle Show just 10 days after filming for the now cancelled daytime show.

An ITV source revealed: ‘A series of top-level meetings have been held over the past few weeks with regard to safety measures and duty of care procedures.

‘One of the issues raised was the lie detector. The feeling was, in the wake of the Jeremy Kyle case, bosses must be whiter than white — they cannot mess with people’s emotions.’

The insider continued to The Sun: ‘The test they used last year was very basic — one not approved by the British Polygraph Association.

‘While nothing is set in stone and ideas change on an almost daily basis, at the moment there are no plans to bring the polygraphs back.’

Earlier this week the chief executive of Ofcom revealed that the watchdog would be investigating on-screen lie detectors.

‘We will be looking at lie detectors and other tools used by the production companies, as to whether…it’s fair treatment for vulnerable individuals,’ they said to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.

Love Island’s aftercare had also faced criticism following the suicide of last year’s contestant Mike Thalassitis.

Just a few days ago the ITV2 reality show released its detailed account of the duty of care process each contestant will go through before entering the villa and after.

Islanders will now receive therapy and proactive contact for a period of 14 months after the series in which they have appeared has ended.

It’s also been revealed that a number of hopefuls have been axed after failing to pass a surprise drug test.

Louis Walsh has revealed that he’s in talks with Simon Cowell for a possible return to The X Factor.

The 66-year-old judge, who admitted he didn’t miss the show back in November, explained that he’s also keen for Sharon Osborune to make a comeback to the ITV contest too so the whole gang could soon be back together.

‘I’m speaking to Simon. Let’s see,’ Louis told the Mirror Online.

‘Sharon would be great. She’s burnt a few bridges, but that’s what’s good about her – she has an opinion. She’s never boring or predictable.’

Louis left The X Factor after the 14th series, announcing his departure in 2018.

‘I’ve had a fantastic 13 years on The X Factor but the show needs a change and I’m ready to leave,’ he said at the time.

Six months ago Louis told the Daily Star that he wasn’t pining for his old spot on The X Factor, telling them: ‘I am in a really good place as I am back to my old job.

‘I had a great time on the show but I’m doing Ireland’s Got Talent. I am in Dublin, Westlife are back…It’s good.’

Meanwhile, Sharon was dropped from the singing contest not soon after she launched into a rant in 2018 where she branded the show ‘f****** karaoke.’

The 66-year-old claimed back in March that Simon had let her go for ‘being too old’ and was replaced by Robbie Williams and Ayda Field.

‘I was signed on to do another show at the time. I was signed to go to England, and then Simon Cowell changed his mind and thought I was too old,’ she told US Chat show The Talk.

Not stopping there, Sharon continued: ‘Simon goes, “She’s old. We need somebody young,” so if you want young, fire yourself and get rid of those man t…’

Mel B hints she’s had sex with Zac Efron and recalls having Peter Andre as a booty call

Mel B dropped a huge hint that she once bedded Zac Efron during her interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

Besides telling the Good Morning Britain presenter that she refuses to define her sexuality, the 43-year-old Spice Girl refused to deny that she enjoyed a night a passion with the High School Musical actor.

The revelation took place when Piers began listing a number of celebrities who Mel has been linked to over the years, asking her to confirm whether she’d slept with them.

‘Zac Efron,’ Piers probed.

Mel let out a deep sigh leading Piers to announce: ‘No denial.’

‘But no comment,’ Mel snapped as she wagged her finger.

The singer was initially linked to Zac last September after reportedly flirting on a dating app.

Mel was also quizzed on her ‘booty call’ relationship with Peter Andre that took place over nine months in the late 90s.

‘Peter Andre, he was a long time booty call,’ began Piers.

‘Please don’t say it like that,’ Mel said. ‘He’s a really nice guy, he’s got a really nice family.

‘He wrote about me in his book and the Spice Girls didn’t know he was my booty call so I had to explain it to them that all this time in different hotels I would fly him in and fly him back out.’

Peter has previously spoken out about his history with Mel in the past, telling Piers: ‘I really liked Mel but she broke my heart. She treated me like I’d treated other women in the past and she made me grow up.

‘She secretly got married during our relationship – and got the call to say her divorce came through while we were having sex!’

Renée Zellweger reveals What/If temptress Anne Montgomery was based on Mrs Robinson

Renée Zellweger’s brand new Netflix series What/If officially launched on Friday and it’s completely barmy.

The 10-part thriller sees the 49-year-old Bridget Jones actress play a manipulative venture capitalist named Anne Montgomery, who offers couple Sean (played by Blake Jenner) and Lisa (Jane Levy) financial help in exchange for sex.

And it turns out Renée’s character was based on Mrs Robinson from the 1967 film The Graduate.

‘Mrs. Robinson was a really, really, pretty telling prototype,’ Renée told The Hollywood Reporter. ‘So, we went from there and of course he had suggested, well, we’ll subvert the trajectory of that character.

‘Let’s just say you take all that power and self-loathing and instead of channeling it into alcoholism. What if she did something proactive? What if, say, she builds an empire.’

Anne Bancroft played Mrs Robinson in the classic film by Mike Nichols, which follows the story of an older woman seducing a college graduate.

Renée continued to the publication: ‘It’s only on when it serves her. Warmth is a tool. And she’s very contained and calculated, meticulously to how she presents herself.

‘It’s funny to consider that she’s so completely contained and tightly wound because [it’s] a part of her or a necessity for perfection. It was pretty clear to me who she is through my conversations with Mike [Kelley] and who’s he wanting her to be.

‘Her sense of entitlement is extraordinary.

‘Her ambition and that everything is a tool including her sexuality, which she leads with unapologetically so uses to manipulate.

‘So those things were necessary to tap into. And what does that look like? Well she takes up a lot of room but at the same time she has to be groomed.’

What/If is available to stream on Netflix.

Tommy Fury ex-girlfriend is claiming that he dumped her after two years so he could take part in the forthcoming 2019 series of Love Island.

Boxing champion Tyson Fury revealed that his half-brother is heading to the Majorcan villa earlier this week and now former partner Millie Roberts is alleging he called it quits on their relationship so he could pursue ‘money and fame.’

Millie explained that Tommy wasn’t even a fan of the ITV2 reality show, which kicks off in less than a fortnight, and allegedly wouldn’t let her watch it when they were together.

‘Going on this show is supposedly against everything he claimed to stand for,’ she began to the Star on Sunday.

‘He wouldn’t even like me watching the programme and would say the girls were disgusting because of their lip fillers and Botox. He hates all that.

‘When we were together, he wouldn’t want me wearing make-up, short skirts or dresses or anything low-cut that showed any kind of cleavage. He’s very strict about that sort of thing.

‘But clearly he’s a liar. All he is after is money and fame – he’s a fake and a phoney.’

Speaking about her split from Tommy, Millie admitted: ‘I was gutted, I really loved him – especially since it was me and my family who supported him and helped him get where he is.

‘I paid for everything for Tommy because he didn’t have a job. He left school in the eighth grade and had no qualifications.

‘I even had to buy my own Christmas and birthday presents from him.’

Love Island is right around the corner and some islanders have already been axed after reportedly failing a surprise drug test.

Sources have revealed that Casa Amor is set to return to the series, but will be used to spice up the contestants’ relationships rather than hindering them.

Love Island launches Monday 3 June on ITV2.

It’s that time of year again in which Britain’s Got Talent takes over your TV screens for the entire week – as the 2019 live semi-finals begin.

Saturday night’s show saw the 40 acts which have made it through to this year’s live shows revealed, following an intense amount of deliberation from the judges.

Each semi-final will see two acts make it to the final on Sunday 2 June – the winner of that night’s public vote, followed by one act chosen by the judges from the next two most popular.

And among those who will be performing across the week include this year’s five Golden Buzzer acts – Flakefleet Primary School Choir, Kojo Anim, Akshat Singh, Giorgia Borg and Chapter 13.

Two of them will be competing in Monday night’s show – but who will be joining them in their bid to win a place in the final?

Here’s who you’ll be watching – and voting for – on Monday night.

Dave and Finn

Policeman Dave Wardell and his heroic dog Finn – who saved his life and almost lost his own in the process – reduced Simon Cowell and a fair few viewers to tears when they appeared earlier in the series. Will their canine mind-reading act land them in the final?

Flakefleet Primary School – GOLDEN BUZZER

The first Golden Buzzer of the series, David Walliams hit the magic button for Flakefleet Primary and their headteacher Dave McPartlin, who wowed everybody with their literal reworking of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now – costumes, props and all. Walliams called their act ‘one of the most joyous things I’ve ever seen’, after breaking down in tears watching them.

Brian Gilligan

Singer Brian Gilligan tugged at a fair few heartstrings earlier in the series with his emotional rendition of Lady Gaga’s I’ll Never Love Again. He’s no stranger to the West End stage, but how will he fare on the Britain’s Got Talent semi-final stage?

The Haunting

In a series which has had no shortage of impressive magicians, Elizabeth Best – the brains behind this seriously creepy act – succeeded in scaring the living daylights out of Amanda Holden and everybody else with her haunted theatre illusion in the first show of the series. Our nerves have only just recovered in time to see what she has in store for us this time.

KNE

Dance troupe KNE had everybody fooled in the final auditions show of the series this weekend, with member Kyle initially appearing to be a singer and pianist before other dancers appeared for a high energy routine. What will they bring us in the live shows?

Rosie and Adam

One of the more daring acts of the series, rollerskating duo Rosie and Adam showed off some impressive acrobatics and dance moves on wheels earlier in the series – winning a well-deserved semi-final place.

Tony Rudd

BGT doesn’t have too many impressionists this year but this one made enough of an impression (ahem) to make it through to the live shows. Tony Rudd’s rapid-fire act saw him deftly impersonate everybody from Michael McIntyre to the Minions (the outfit might just be a bit of a giveaway there) – and no doubt he’ll have even more gems up his yellow sleeves for the semi-final.

Akshat Singh – GOLDEN BUZZER

Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act is teenage dancer Akshat, who showed off some nifty moves to Nicki Minaj’s Starships earlier in the series and won his way straight through to the live shows as a result. Can he take things one step further and nab a final spot?

When is Britain’s Got Talent on?

The first live show kicks off on Monday night on ITV at 7.30pm with the results show at 9.30pm.
