If you’re not caught up, don’t sneak a peek at these Peaky Blinders spoilers.

After an agonizing wait for fans, Peaky Blinders is finally back tonight (25 August).

We already know some faces won’t be returning – miss you already, Tom – but who are the new kids on the block?

Anya Taylor-Joy

Fans have known about the American actress joining for some time now.

Known for M. Night Shyamalan’s Split and the Miniaturist, she’ll be playing the role of Michael’s wife, Gina, brought back to Birmingham after the New York stock market crash.

Good luck understanding the Brummie accent, Gina.

Sam Claflin

The Hunger Games star will make his Peaky debut as MP Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Union of Fascists back in the 20s and 30s.

Claflin – who recently split up with his wife Laura Haddock – said of joining the show: ‘From Steven Knight’s writing to the consistently brilliant production, I couldn’t feel more privileged to be invited to join this iconic show.’

Brian Gleeson

The surname might be familiar, but his face is new to the cast.

Gleeson – brother of Domnhall, son of Brendan – joins the cast as Jimmy McCavern.

His previous roles include Mother! and Phantom Thread.

Emmett J Scanlan

Former Hollyoaks star Scanlan is another new arrival, playing Billy Grade.

Neil Maskell

Taking on quite a hefty role, Neil Maskell joins the show as none other than Winston Churchill.

Has even Tommy Shelby met his match this time?

Kate Dickie

Kate Dickie – who has starred in horror film The Witch – is new to the cast as Mother Superior.

With this motley crew, we suspect she might have quite a lot of Hail Marys to be prescribing.

Elliot Cowan

Cowan, star of Amazon’s The Spanish Princess and Lost in Austen, will be appearing as Michael Levitt.

Daryl McCormack

A Very English Scandal’s McCormack joins as Isaiah Jesus.

Based on his first look cast photo, he means business.

Peaky Blinders returns to BBC one on 25 August, 9pm.

Paul Hollywood has praised the leading ladies of the Great British Bake Off to celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary – after rumours he had fallen out with Mary Berry.

The 52-year-old TV judge, who has been starring alongside Prue Leith for the last three years, is about to return to our screens for the latest edition of the show.

But to mark a decade since the baking show debuted, Paul took a moment to praise both his present, and past co-stars.

Sharing a photo of both him and Mary, and him and Prue, sharing giggles inside the tent, Paul wrote on Instagram: ‘10 years of Bake Off this year and I’ve had the pleasure of working with 2 of the most amazing women in the world X #greatjudges #greatpeople.’

Last year’s winner Rahul Mandal was one of the many fans to comment underneath the picture, and wrote: ‘They both are amazing. Learnt a lot from all of you three.’

Paul’s sweet comment comes after it was rumoured that Mary and Paul were no longer on speaking terms following the dissolution of Paul’s marriage and Bake Off’s move to Channel 4.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B1lEw1rlErl/

Mary, alongside hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, all left the show when Bake Off was sold by Love Productions to Channel 4, leaving its BBC home after seven years.

Cooking expert Mary was also close to Paul’s ex-wife Alexandra, and was reportedly unhappy with her former co-stars behaviour after he arrived at an event in December with his new girlfriend.

Alexandra and Paul confirmed her split from Paul on 20 November 2017 after nearly 20 years of marriage.

As it happens, the girlfriend in question, Summer Monteys-Fullam, is now taking Paul to court over the breakdown of their relationship, after she refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement and he accused her of ‘courting the paparazzi’.

Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding, who host the Bake Off now with Paul and Prue Leith, have backed their co-star in the midst of the crisis.

The Great British Bake Off returns Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.

Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki confirms return to The Conners – if he can get David’s trousers on

The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki has confirmed that he will be returning to The Conners next season…if he can fit into his trousers, that is.

Way before Big Bang was even a thing, Johnny made a name for himself on Roseanne as love interest David Healy for daughter Darlene Conner (Sara Gilbert).

Since the less-than-ceremonial exit of the leading lady in question, the series has since taken new life as The Conners, and after a shock reappearance at the end of last season, Johnny has revealed he’ll be back for more trouble with the gang.

And in typical style, it’ll definitely be in sticky style, as he posted a hilarious picture of him getting hiked into some quite frankly criminally tight jeans by co-stars Sara and Laurie Metcalf.

He wrote alongside it: ‘I may be putting the pants of #davidhealy back on for one or two stories on @theconnersabc this year.

‘Twenty some years later I’m still in awe of them and learning from them.’

We take it he means in awe of his co-stars, and not the leather trousers.

Thoughts that the actor could be making a comeback to The Conners started in July when he was seen posing for a pic with Sara (who incidentally played his temp Big Bang Theory love interest Leslie Winkle) and actor Cory Michael-Wood.

What will happen remains to be seen, but it appears that David won’t be a regular feature in Darlene’s life – despite turning up and asking her not to leave for a new life in Chicago with boyfriend Ben.

Speaking to TVLine after David’s return in the season finale, Sara said: ‘I think David and Darlene are so tied to each other emotionally that they keep coming into each others’ lives. I don’t think either one of them can easily step away from each other.’

Johnny had similar thoughts, but admitted that he wasn’t ready to jump back into a series regular role after a 12-year stretch as Leonard in Big Bang.

‘I certainly hope to visit as much as possible,’ Johnny told TV Line. ‘That’s kind of my second home.

‘I still have a bit of a high school crush on that character.’

The Connors is yet to be given a UK release date. The Big Bang Theory is available on Netflix.

Poldark episode 7 review: Dramatic penultimate episode hints at a passing of the baton

Poldark
Poldark wrapped up some loose ends (Picture: BBC)

Poldark series five was intended to fill in the gaps between Winston Graham’s books, as when they pick up after series four there is an 11-year time jump.

So over 10 years later, Poldark (Aidan Turner), Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) and the characters we’ve followed so far will be much older.

The penultimate episode certainly seemed pushed the younger characters, with Poldark’s high-stakes beef with Charles Hanson/the government taking a backseat to Geoffrey Charles (Freddie Wise) and Cecily’s (Lily Dodsworth-Evans) drama.

The young couple made a fresh attempt to run away together, this time with the help of Poldark and Demelza.

While Poldark was otherwise engaged (being threatened by higher powers) Geoffrey got a pasting at the hands of Hanson’s men.

The way it played out offered him as the dashing romantic hero in this moment as Poldark was in earlier series, the attack playing out in slow motion so we could really feel for him.

Geoffrey Charles
Geoffrey Charles had a rough time of it (Picture: BBC)

And it worked thanks to Wise’s performance as a genuinely sweet, earnest yet tragic man we can support despite only knowing him in his final form for such as short time. Is the GC going to step up and be the new hero should Poldark return as Ross and his friends age?

After all that Cecily left on a ship by herself to protect Geoffrey, while Kitty went to Jamaica, undoubtedly ruing the day she came looking for Ross. It was disappointing not to see her closeness with Dwight (Luke Norris) explored a bit further (I’d be so here for an affair!), as the Enys’ could have done with a bit more drama this series. Norris and Gabriella Wilde (as Caroline Enys) have been a fab pairing.

But now those plot threads, as well as Drake and Morwenna’s baby news, wrapped up storylines so we can focus on Ross for the swansong.

And it’s still not clear who the Big Bad is this series, with even George (Jack Farthing) seemingly neutered to keep his mental health struggles secret.

Tess (Sofia Oxenham) is lurking around Sam (Tom York) of course, but she’s not a huge threat. So it is Hanson? Merceron? The French? There’s only an hour left to clear things up.

Poldark continues Monday at 8pm on BBC One.

Sanditon episode one review: Anne Reid steals this Jane Austen adaptation

Jane Austen’s unfinished novel is given a sexed up overhaul in ITV’s Sanditon, where excellent performances form the foundation of a light, cheeky adaptation.

Austen’s classic novels like Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion have been regurgitated countless times, but this is the first time Austen’s last novel – which she abandoned due to failing health – has been attempted on the small screen. Luckily this adaptation comes from Bafta-winning screenwriter Andrew Davies, who has built his name penning acclaimed period dramas like War & Peace and Sense & Sensibility.

This first episode is the only one which is based on Austen’s original work, with the remaining seven episodes expanding the novel into new unwritten territory. From the outset however, Sanditon feels like a different kind of Austen, with one foot in tradition while the other looks ahead to industrial revolution, prosperous seaside towns, and foreign lands.

We follow wide-eyed Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) who moves from her hometown to the fishing village of Sanditon carried by the enthusiasm of financier Tom Parker (Kris Marshall), who is under the belief it’ll become the next huge seaside resort.

Her innocent arrival into Sanditon, ahead of a luxurious ball, is complicated by the businessmen all vying for Lady Denham’s (Anne Reid) vast wealth to fuel the town’s rise. It’s the latter’s introduction which gives the show its anchor, with Anne Reid stealing every scene she’s given as the straight-talking, protective, ruler of the roost.

Eyeing her fortune is a slew of handsomely rotten individuals who bring a sexy edge to the show. Jack Fox plays the detestably charming Edward Denham, whose manipulative ways land him sexual favours in the woods. Theo James is the smouldering Sidney Parker who catches Charlotte’s eye, although his prickly temperament hints at a more hot-headed side. Kris Marshall, as likeable as ever, even gets in on the action – pegging it butt-naked across the beach at summer’s peak.

Beyond the steamy sightings, the production in Sanditon is stunning to look at throughout. Sweeping shots across the seaside town help suck you into the fantasy of its potential, with the witty script always feeling like it’s dropping knowing winks at the audience, dissipating the stuffiness period dramas are often associated with.

While she’s never described as such in Austen’s original novel, the show also introduces the author’s first black character in West Indies heiress Miss Lambe (Crystal Clarke). The reaction to her is one of awkward surprise in a slightly hammed up scene, but we’ll have to see in future episodes how integral her role will be in Sanditon’s future.

Judging by this opening episode, Sanditon is a thoroughly entertaining, light, and refreshingly loose period drama which feels unshackled from its past. It remains to be seen where Andrew Davies and his team takes Austen’s foundation, but there’s plenty of reason to believe this could be a surprise hit for ITV.

Sanditon continues on ITV Sundays at 9pm.

***Warning: Spoilers Ahead***

Peaky Blinders season five dealt fans a heartbreaking blow as it returned to TV with the shock reappearance of an old friend.

Tommy’s ex-wife, and love of his life, Grace, appeared to him in a hallucination as he hid himself away in the woods and drank to speak to her.

A clear sign that despite all this time he’s still not over his beloved’s death, Tommy was cradled by the ghost of Grace, who spoke him down from his worries.

Tommy then heartbreakingly shares a moment with Grace as they declare: ‘After all this time, our love still remains.’

‘You have to listen to the voices that you hear, do what they tell you to do,’ she told him, before disappearing.

‘There’s no much to do Grace… no need to say goodbye. I need to sleep,’ he’s heard sadly telling himself.

The moment clearly pulled at viewers heartstrings, who shared their grief online at the unexpected and shocking return of the long-dead friend.

Tommy better be careful, as Grace’s warning to follow his voices could end in disaster for everyone involved.

Meanwhile Lizzie, his new wife and mother to his daughter, is seemingly ignoring her husband’s struggles, instead hoping to try and talk him round to the truth.

Peaky Blinders fans don’t have to wait long to see what’s happening next over in Birmingham – with episode two airing tomorrow as part of a double bill that ties in with the Poldark finale.

There’s already numerous questions we have about what’s happening to the Shelby boys, for starters, who exactly are the Angels of Retribution and how will they respond following the death of some of their men?

Peaky Blinders continues tomorrow at 9.30pm on BBC One.

Tommy and Arthur have a serious mess to clean up (Picture: BBC)

Peaky Blinders season five has been one of the most anticipated returns to TV for the past year, so Tommy Shelby and the gang had some high expectations to fill.

Thankfully, they do – and then some. Welcome back, fellas.

Picking up on the date of the Wall Street Crash in 1929 and it’s clear that before we even get into their personal lives, Tommy (Cillian Murphy) and Arthur (Paul Anderson) have a hell of a problem on their hands.

As Polly (Helen McCrory) is living the high life with a swanky toyboy, the gang are soon reunited and back to their old ways of trying to keep the family afloat.

Even Michael (Finn Cole) is making his way back to the UK from Boston with a new woman (Anya Taylor-Joy) in tow, despite the fact that it’s his fault they’ve been hit so hard in the crash.

The reunion isn’t going to be a happy one, that’s for sure.

Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby is losing his grip with reality more by the day (Picture: BBC)

Meanwhile, Finn (Harry Kirton) is out on his own as a fully-fledged Blinder and no longer the kid that is getting under everyone’s feet. But considering he ends up on his sister Ava’s (Sophie Rundle) sofa with a bullet in his shoulder, it’s obvious there’s a lot for him to learn.

Unfortunately for them all, Tommy is also now an MP, and a husband to Lizzie (Natasha O’Keefe) who is willing to ignore the fact he doesn’t properly love her as the ghost of true love Grace (Annabelle Wallis) hangs over him.

With all the pressures of family life, politics and business, Tommy is beginning to slip more and more into a bad mental health state, and his insistence on hiding it from everyone is becoming almost impossible.

Cillian Murphy really does know how to portray a million emotions through one look better than anyone else on telly, and seeing his struggles makes it clear that there’s going to be more to unfold as the series progresses.

The head of the Shelby clan is in a bad way, and no one seems to notice it.

While Cillian is certainly the backbone of the series, one of the best things about Peaky Blinders is there are no weak links – with every actor standing out in their own right within this twisted Birmingham gangster world.

Throw in the fact that this might be the most beautiful season yet, with fancy new clothes and cars making you fall in love with everything around it, and you’re ready for something magical.

Surprisingly, we only get a glimpse of Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) in tonight’s episode, with the well-dressed and smarmy politician offering no more than a handshake to Tommy in the houses of Parliament.

But we know that as this year’s big bad, he’s going to return in a pretty big way, and with Tommy hanging on by a thread, it’s clear to see how he’ll be willing to take advantage.

This episode, titled Black Tuesday, sets up a series of slow burns rather than jumping straight back into the action, and gives us enough intrigue to guarantee that we tune in next week.

As thrilling as ever, this could pave the way for the strongest season yet, which is saying something by the standards Steven Knight has set up.

We can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Peaky Blinders continues tomorrow (26/08) at 9.30pm on BBC One.

The Shelby boys are back – and we have questions (Picture: BBC)

Never let it be said that Peaky Blinders is boring – one episode in and there’s already so much to chew over it makes our nan’s Sunday roasts look sparing.

With the 1929 Wall Street crash weighing on everyone’s minds, we have a lot to be thinking about, as well as where the show is planning to take us next.

So, now the series is officially underway, we’re only having to wait until tomorrow to find out just what the hell’s going on in Tommy Shelby’s mind with episode two ending a BBC drama spectacular.

Here’s our list of questions we’re ordering the Peaky Blinders to answer.

***WARNING: Contains Episode One spoilers…Obviously***

Is Finn going to be OK?

Poor Finn (Harry Kirton). He’s finally been given a shot to run his own sector of the Peaky Blinders, but he’s clearly a little out of his depth already.

Harry Kirton (Finn Shelby) in Peaky Blinders | Series 5 (BBC One) | Episode 02 Photographer: Ben Blackall ?? Caryn Mandabach Productions Ltd. 2019
Has Finn bitten off more than he can chew? (Picture: BBC)

While his mission was a noble one (shooting dead a man who had been facilitating a paedophile ring), he ended up going in over his head and getting himself shot in the shoulder.

Rather than go to the hospital, he had it dug out of him and sewn up.

While that’s definitely standard in the day-of-the-life of a Shelby, he was barely seen after, as sister Ava (Sophie Rundle) took care of him.

And if that gets a nasty infection…yeeesh.

Anya Taylor-Joy and Finn Cole in Peaky Blinders season 5
Michael and his other half have fled Boston after the crash (Picture: Ben Blackall/BBC)

Where’s Michael going?

Michael (Finn Cole) and his other half (Anya Taylor-Joy) left behind the cocaine and party lifestyle of Boston and hightailed it as soon as the stock market crashed.

He’s not stupid either – and is well aware of the trouble he’s going to be in when he returns to Birmingham soil, especially as Tommy told him to sell the stocks before it was too late.

As a result, there’s definitely a rude awakening ahead of him. With planes not being as common as they are today, it’s going to take him a while to get back too.

So is he going to return home to eat some of mum Polly’s (Helen McCrory) humble pie? Or is he going to seize his opportunity and attempt to start a life somewhere new in the world?

Sam Claflin (Oswald Mosley) in Peaky Blinders | Series 5 (BBC One) | Episode 04 Photographer: Robert Viglasky ?? Caryn Mandabach Productions Ltd. 2019
How does Tommy fit in with Mosley’s master plan? (Picture: BBC)

How does Tommy fit in with Oswald Mosley’s plan?

We only saw a glimpse of Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), the historical fascist leader, for a moment during episode one, but that fleeting introduction tells us already he has plans for Tommy Shelby.

Knowing that he’s about to lead the fascist party within the UK and his attempts to climb up the ranks at all costs going mad, what does he have in mind?

More so, will Tommy be able to see through the charm and wit tactics of Mosley, or will he be tempted in by him as the future remains uncertain?

Who are the angels of retribution? (Picture: BBC)

Who are the Angels of Retribution?

Well it’s pretty clear even within the show’s opening moments that the Angels of Retribution are a nasty little lot.

Already having ties within Parliament, the mystery gang were also behind a paedophile ring that was based in China Town.

Keeping their identities secret, they have not taken too kindly to the Shelby’s shutting down their operation.

But who exactly are they and how many people are involved? More importantly, how high does their power go?

Cillian Murphy gave Peaky Blinders superfan David Bowie his cap A Still of Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders
Tommy’s mental health is in decline and his son is livid with him over the death of his horse (Picture: BBC)

Will Charlie forgive his dad anytime soon?

Charlie is definitely his mother and fathers’ son. Kind-hearted and emotional, his mother’s side to treat everyone with a kindness has caused a rift with him.

He’s also smart, learning languages without his dad knowing and therefore becoming furious at him for killing off his beloved horse, which he believes was in cold blood and not because he was ill.

But like Tommy and Arthur try to assure him, sometimes death is a kindness…and that sentence is enough to make us think that some foreshadowing has been laid and now we’re worried for everyone.

Can Charlie learn to appreciate the world and work of his father? Or will he rebel against it and create something more in his mother’s likeness?

He may be only a toddler, but Charlie is certainly proving to be a headstrong lad – just like his dad really.

Will anyone notice Tommy’s worsening mental state?

Ask anyone and Tommy has been known to have come back from war a different man.

Suffering from undiagnosed and untreated PTSD, over the past seasons we’ve seen him try to get better (and nearly succeeding thanks to Grace) but ultimately being tempted back over to the dark side.

But seeing the ghost of Grace and talking to her is definitely something new, and with everything going on in his life, his inability to keep still and wrestle with his brain is just making it worse.

Can someone stop him and pull him back to a half-decent reality before it’s too late? Or will his stiff upper-lip get the better of him and see him dragged down beyond the point of being saved?

Peaky Blinders continues tomorrow at 9.30pm on BBC One.

A Black And White Killing
Mobeen was praised for keeping his cool (Picture: BBC)

Viewers have been left disgusted as they watched A Black And White Killing: The Case That Shook America tonight.

The BBC Two documentary followed the controversial Larnell Bruce killing, with filmmaker Mobeen Azhar speaking to self-proclaimed members of white supremacy groups in a conversation about race and whether they believed Larnell was killed because he was black.

At the core of the two-part series, which began tonight, was the death of 19-year old Larnell, who was run down in 2016 by a car driven by Russell Courtier following a fight outside a shop.

Courtier, then aged 40, got into his Jeep and drove it into the teen who later died from injuries sustained in the attack.

He was charged with murder following the hit and run, as well as a hate crime (with Russell sporting an ‘EK’ tattoo on his leg, reportedly standing for white supremacy group European Kindred).

Last year Courtier was found guilty of first-degree murder, intimidation (under Oregon’s hate crime bill) and failure to perform duties of a driver, which marked the US state’s first hate crime murder conviction in three decades.

He was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum of 28 years.

Many found the episode ‘tough’ to watch as they took to social media to share their sadness at the opinions of some.

At one stage Mobeen met with a man who drives around with ‘racist’ signs on his car, such as ‘Trump: Do The White Thing’ and ‘If Jews are white, then the holocaust was white genocide’.

As the two men drove along in the ‘mobile billboard’, they compared their differing thoughts on diversity with Mobeen admitting it was uncomfortable for him to be driving down the freeway with such signs clearly shown behind them.

‘Diversity is you and me in this truck, so you’re not having such a terrible time are you?’ Mobeen asked the man.

‘On a human level, you kind of like me, don’t you?’

Laughing, the man said: ‘In a way.’

But it was uncomfortable for viewers who took to Twitter to share their thoughts, praising Mobeen for his composure while speaking with the documentary subjects.

From the out, they found it difficult to stay tuned.

One wrote: ‘Only 20 minutes into #ABlackandWhiteKilling on @BBCTwo and I’m already angry, disgusted and so so sad.’

Mobeen garnered praise from others, who wrote: ‘My blood is already boiling! Respect to @Mobeen_Azhar for keeping his cool and being so gracious in the face of such hateful bile.’

A Black And White Killing: The Case That Shock America continues Monday 9pm on BBC Two.

Peaky Blinders is used to giving us the horrors of gangster life, but there was one happy ending that viewers weren’t expecting as the show returned for season five.

The triumphant return of Alfie Solomons’ loyal dog, Cyril.

Jewish gangster Alfie (Tom Hardy) became a worthy adversary for the Shelby brothers, but met his maker at the end of season four after a bitter game of frenemies with Tommy (Cillian Murphy), and the Birmingham mobsters.

When Tommy and Alfie had their final showdown on the beach, Alfie, who had discovered he was dying of cancer, had one last wish from Tommy before he killed him.

In his usual London growl, Alfie demanded: ‘You going to look after this dog?’ to which Tommy flatly refused.

‘Well, his name is Cyril and he will be very upset and distressed, so you’ll need to find him someone,’ Alfie requested, right before being shot dead by Tommy.

Cyril could well have been left on the beach with his owner, but as Tommy returned home in season five’s first episode, there was only one person who looked happy to see him.

His new pet pooch, who came running to greet him from his car.

Naturally, viewers had a lot of feelings about it – and celebrated that the dog was OK on Twitter

The return of Cyril wasn’t the only thing that left fans heartbroken this episode, with Tommy’s deteriorating mental health causing him to see dead wife Grace through a fire.

Clearly still clinging on to his lost love, who was shot and killed during an assassination attempt on Tommy, he was seen being cradled by her ghost as he hallucinated.

However, he hasn’t got too long to dwell, with the ever-present threat of the stock market crash potentially ruining his business, and his family hanging on together by a thread.

We’ve already got a lot of questions, and fortunately we only have a day to wait to find out about what’s going on.

Jamie Oliver wants to become a judge on Masterchef Australia

Jamie Oliver - Masterchef
Jamie Oliver has said he’s up for appearing on Masterchef Australia (Picture: Rex)

Jamie Oliver has made a not-so-subtle declaration that he’s up for becoming one of the newest judges on Masterchef Australia.

The 44-year-old chef, straight from his Jamie’s Italian empire collapse, is clearly looking for a new project, which until now has been lobbying Boris Johnson over children’s health and nutrition strategies.

But could he be trading the UK for something Down Under for a little while?

While over in the country he told Channel 10 that he would be up to the task if offered.

‘Are you offering? I’d love to do MasterChef! If there is a reservation up for MasterChef, I’m well up for it. I’ll have a go,’ he said smiling at the news.

‘I love the Aussie MasterChef, I think it’s the best one in the world!,’ he added.

…Don’t let John Torode or Gregg Wallace hear you say that, mate! Especially with Celebrity Masterchef just around the corner.

Masterchef UK John Torode and Gregg Wallace
Wonder what John and Gregg will think about Australian Masterchef being the ‘best in the world…?’ (Picture: BBC)

Jamie has previous experience in the Masterchef kitchen, having appeared as a guest judge on the show back in 2012.

But in July, Masterchef Australia suffered a massive shake-up when it was revealed that Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris, the show’s long-standing frontmen, would all leave together.

Therefore some positions were more than available to Jamie should he want them and bosses get in contact.

Leaving a suggestion that he has already been approached for a spot on the judges’ table, Jamie later added in the interview: ‘I can’t wait to come back to Australia, I have a trip booked for either the end of the year or early next year, and I can’t wait – absolutely can’t wait!’

The potential venture comes as Jamie celebrates 20 years in the spotlight thanks to his Naked Chef persona launching on Channel 4.

A documentary on his rise to fame was aired at the same time, during which he was seen in tears walking around a now abandoned restaurant after it went into administration.

Speaking of the 1,034 redundancies that occurred as a result of the chain closures, he said: ‘The staff got paid up to the date and I made sure of that.

‘The hardest part was telling staff that they haven’t got a job anymore.’

He added: ‘I opened lots of big restaurants and people like small restaurants and we sort of had these big cathedrals we couldn’t fill.’

RuPaul’s Drag Race is just about to kick off in the UK but now the reality TV phenomenon is going Down Under with an Australian spin-off series in the works.

ITV Studios Australia, the production company behind The Voice and I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! has secured local format rights for Drag Race, TV Tonight reports.

CEO of the broadcaster told the publication: ‘Yes ITV Studios Australia have secured the rights to arguably one of the biggest formats globally at the moment.

‘With Drag Race UK about to launch and already a major hit in the US and other territories we are set to shantay onto Australian screens in 2020.

‘Drag Race has moved on to being a show that captures the imagination of everyone ,no matter their age or gender and we will commence discussing with potential broadcast and streaming partners shortly. It will be one of the most talked-about and noisy formats next year.’

We can’t wait to see how this turns out.

The UK queens are about to sissy that walk on to the BBC (Picture: BBC)

Previously, Australian contestant Courtney Act was a runner up on season six of the show, so hopefully we’ll be treated to more punny names that only work with the Aussie accent.

Also, we can’t help but mention how Australia is home to one of the most iconic drag movies ever, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, so we’re expecting some Outback realness.

Drag Race is currently in its 11th US season and the highly anticipated UK spin-off is due to kick off on October 3 on BBC Three.

The impressive line up was revealed last week featuring the likes of Cheryl Hole, Baga Chipz and Divina De Campo.

Now, we need to know who the Aussie Queens will be impersonating on Snatch Game.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK starts on BBC Three on October 3.

Hilary Duff teases a romantic Lizzie and Gordo reunion in the Lizzie McGuire reboot and this is what dreams are made of

$

Hey now, we’re still reeling from the news that Hilary Duff is to reprise the role that propelled her into the zeitgeist, the inimitable Lizzie McGuire for a Disney+ reboot, but now the actress has hinted that Lizzie and her sweetheart Gordo could be rekindling their romance.

David ‘Gordo’ Gordon was played by Adam Matthew Lamberg in the Disney Channel series and he has since stepped away from the Limelight, apart from starring in a couple of Indie movies, When Do We Eat? and Beautiful Loser in 2005 and 2008.

The rebooted series will catch up with a 30-year-old millennial Lizzie living in New York City.

Speaking at the D23 expo, Hilary, 31, admitted she is feeling ‘a little intimidated’ at the prospect of reprising the beloved role.

‘I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little intimidated. I’m like, “Where is she in there?” She is in there; she is me,’ she said.

Hilary has since elaborated on what the reboot will entail, telling Good Morning America: ‘Her life is framed pretty perfectly. She has her dream job [as] an apprentice for an interior designer, who is a pretty big deal.’

She is also doing fairly well for herself with ‘a cute little apartment in Brooklyn’ and the opening episode will kick off with her celebrating her 30th birthday with all of her friends.

‘Obviously, nothing’s going to go that perfectly the whole series,’ she teased.

‘[Lizzie] gets some pretty big news at the end of the first episode.’

As for her love life, the actress revealed her character has ‘a gorgeous fiancé who is a chef at this cool SoHo restaurant’ but when asked about her sweetheart Godro she sheepishly insisted she had to ‘play coy’.

‘I have to play it coy, but there are a lot of surprises in store. Everyone’s dreams are going to be fulfilled by going on the journey of the show,’ she said.

Also confirmed is the return of the animated Lizzie who will still be 13-years-old and act as adult Lizzie’s inner thoughts and conscious.

The Lizzie McGuire reboot is in production for Disney+.

Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy absolutely hates the Tommy Shelby haircut

Peaky Blinders' Cillian Murphy
Cillian just wants to be left alone on the bus (Picture: BBC/Getty)

Say what you want about Peaky Blinders, but the series has been responsible for somewhat of a style revolution, and whether it’s your thing or not, the look has become pretty ubiquitous.

The flat cap, the three-piece suits – and the now iconic 1920s period haircut.

A simple google of the term ‘Peaky Blinders haircut’ yields endless pieces on how to ask for the Tommy Shelby cut, how to style and maintain it.

But despite the style’s popularity, its poster boy Cillian Murphy actually hates it.

‘People ask for a Peaky cut. It’s crazy that people like it – it hasn’t grown on me,’ he told Woman and Home.

The 43-year-old bemoaned how easily recognised he is with the shaved sides and long top.

‘It’s when you get the haircut that people start shouting at ya,’ he said.

‘When I don’t have the haircut I can get the bus quite unmolested.’

Leave Cillian alone!

When the Cork actor isn’t in character he usually sports a longer style, a far cry from his character’s look.

The hugely anticipated fifth season of Peaky Blinders kicked off on BBC One last night to positive reviews.

Mark Wright discovered his ancestors are from Spain, while filming Who Do You Think You Are?

The Essex reality star loves to visit Marbella on holiday and was thrilled to find out that his nine-time great-grandfather was a swordsman from the Andalusia region of the country.

He told The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: ‘I always thought I might have been a bit Italian, so I’d tell the girls that in the playground at school.

‘To find out I’m Spanish is amazing. We’ve been going on holiday to that area for years and my brother lives out there. It’s ridiculous.’

While Mark was thrilled to discover his family hail from Spain, he was devastated to find out more about some of their tragic history, including that his ancestors were persecuted for their Jewish faith.

He said: ‘That’s hard to take when it’s someone in your bloodline, tortured for years and burned at the stake. Knowing my family went through that – I can relate to it even more.’

And Mark, 32 – who is married to Brassic star Michelle Keegan – tried to follow in the footsteps of his great-grandfather by trying out fencing during a trip to the country while filming the BBC show.

He said: ‘The guy said I was pretty good and had a natural aptitude, so maybe I’ll take it up! I’d definitely give it another go because I really enjoyed it.’

Previously, Mark learned he is related to a murderer while filming the show.

A source revealed back in May: ‘They followed his family history all the way back and traced his roots to Eastern Europe and the travelling community.

‘But it was the fact that he had a villainous relative who had committed murder that shocked him. It’s quite an upsetting discovery to uncover.’

Mark Wright’s episode of Who Do You Think You Are? will air soon on BBC One.

Summer Monteys-Fullam - I'm a Celebrity
What could have been (Picture: ITV/Instagram)

Paul Hollywood’s ex-girlfriend Summer Monteys-Fullam has set the record straight and squashed rumours that she has been approached about taking part in the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity! Get Me Out of Here!

The former barmaid, 24, took to her Instagram stories to dispel the gossiping.

She wrote: ‘Just to set the record straight… I have never contacted or been contacted by the celebrity jungle.

‘Neither have I accepted, received or rejected any offers. Have a great day.’

The disappointing confession comes after Summer sparked intense speculation that she was going Down Under after liking a spate of comments about her taking part in the reality series.

One comment she liked reads: ‘Hope rumours are true and this beautiful lady is on I’m a celebrity this year. You’ve got my support and vote.’

Summer Monteys-Fullam insta
Ok why does she call it ‘The Celebrity Jungle’ and not ‘I’m A Celeb’?(Picture: @Summer Monteys-Fullam Instagram)

And yesterday, it was reported that she was holding out for a huge payday for her participation.

According to The Mirror, Summer had already turned down a £125,000 offer, with her friends saying the sum is ‘way off the mark’.

A source told the paper: ‘Summer knows she’d be TV gold and can all but name her price. If she gets her way, she’ll be one of the highest-paid contestants ever.’

However, it looks like the rumours are just rumours but there’s plenty of time between now and I’m A Celeb starting in December so things could change.

Summer split from Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood after two years of dating when he asked her to sign a gagging order.

The pair have both taken to social media in the wake of the break-up, with Summer claiming she is taking Paul to court for making defamatory claims about her.

The very nasty and public break up led to Summer being labelled a ‘hot ticket for reality shows’.

I’m A Celebrity returns to ITV later this year.

Why has Power season 6 not been released on Netflix?

A still from Power season 6
Power is heading back to screens for one final season (Picture: Starz)

Fans of Power have been poised and waiting for the arrival of the first instalment of its sixth and final season, following Netflix’s confirmation it would be released on Monday.

The show has kept viewers gripped over the past five series – with the new season kicking off in the US on Starz on Sunday night.

As such you’d expect to have seen it on Monday morning on the streaming platform – but as yet it hasn’t shown up?

Just what time should you tune in then and why are we still waiting?

Here’s what you need to know…

Why has Power season 6 not yet been released on Netflix?

Netflix normally adds new content to its service at 8am UK time, in line with releasing new series, episodes etc at midnight San Francisco time where the company’s HQ is located.

As of 10am on Monday morning however there was no sign of Power, despite a message on the landing page saying that a new episode is arriving on Monday – and their Twitter page confirming on Sunday that it was coming ‘tomorrow’.

Naturally people are a little concerned.

We get it’s a Bank Holiday and all, but there’s still no sign of the epsiode – and clearly people are getting a bit impatient now.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Netflix to see if they can shed any light on when we might get our Power fix.

In the mean time the previous five series of the show are all available on Netflix UK if you want to play catch-up before getting stuck into the new season.

How many episodes are in Power season 6?

There are 15 episodes in total bringing the saga to a close once and for all.

However only the first 10 will be shown in the US in the initial run, with the remaining five kicking off in January 2020 as the show finally wraps things up.

What is Power about and who is in the cast?

Joseph Sikora as Power's Tommy Egan
Joseph Sikora plays the role of Ghost’s best friend Tommy (Picture: Starz)

The series follows drug dealer James St Patrick (Omari Hardwick) – known as Ghost – who is aiming to leave the criminal world in order to focus on his more legitimate nightclub business.

It sees him aiming to balance both his lives, while also evading police capture, and also  keeping his personal life afloat as his marriage starts to crumble.

As well as Hardwick – who’s also been in the likes of Kick-Ass and The A-Team – the cast also includes Joseph Sikora as Ghost’s best friend Tommy Egan, Lela Loren as love interest Angela Valdes, Naturi Naughton as his ex-wife Tasha and rapper 50 Cent as Ghost’s former mentor and fellow drug dealer Kanan Stark.

Season five ended on a cliffhanger – with a major character’s life hanging in the balance after being shot.

Cribs UK stars blast ’embarrassing’ Ja Rule and Robbie Williams for faking houses on MTV series

Our minds were totally blown, and our hearts shattered, when it emerged that some of the MTV Cribs stars actually faked parts of their home, in order to look cool on the show.

Remember JoJo’s house? It was actually her uncle’s place.

And Ja Rule rented his ‘crib’ for four days, while even Robbie Williams used a fake property, allegedly even hiring a team of pretend butlers for the tour.

Is nothing sacred anymore?

MTV UK has rebooted the show, with another batch of famous faces giving us a tour of their homes, including Gemma Collins, Megan McKenna and Love Island’s Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland.

And Joey Essex has insisted his home is 100 per cent real, branding all the fakery ‘embarrassing’.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, the Towie star admitted he was offered swanky gear to promote on the show, but turned it all down.

He told us: ‘People were saying that to me, like, “Oh do you want a load of cars?” but imagine people talking about me, like, “Oh he’s had a bunch of cars delivered to his house….”

‘It’s embarrassing. It’s so bad!

‘You wouldn’t be able to get away with it nowadays, would you? With the press and Instagram..’

But Chris Eubank Jr confessed there were some parts of his London pad that he wanted to keep hidden from cameras.

‘I put my money away in a safe,’ he joked.

‘I didn’t hide anything, everything is there [for the cameras] to see. I had my teddy bear but they made me put my teddy bear on the bed.

‘Teddy Brown. I’ve had him since I was born, he’s always been with me.

‘I live alone,’ he added. ‘So that’s my little guy…

‘They were like, “we want him on the bed in one of the main bedrooms”. So that was something I wanted to hide, they wouldn’t let me hide it.’

Poor Teddy Brown!

Cribs UK airs on MTV, on Mondays, at 8pm.

The Simpsons creators are too ‘proud’ of Apu to get rid of him

The Simpsons creators will not get rid of controversial Apu as they’re ‘proud’ of him.

Matt Groening has confirmed that Apu Nahasapeemapetilion won’t be written out of the long-running show despite accusations of racism.

‘Yes [he will stay on the show]. We love Apu. We’re proud of Apu,’ Matt told a young fan during Disney’s D23 Expo this weekend, as reported by Variety.

The race controversy seemed non-existent until it was highlighted in the 2017 documentary The Problem With Apu, in which comedian Hari Kondabolo claimed that the ‘Indian’ character, voiced by Hank Azaria, is racially problematic.

The comedian and life-long fan of the show interviewed celebrities of South Asian descent to ask how the show’s character negatively impacted them growing up, and their stories ended up going viral.

However, executive producer Al Jean watched the documentary and how they would proceed was discussed in the writers’ room.

The owner of Kwik-E-Mart
Apu isn’t going anywhere (Picture: SKY TV)

What did they do about it? The controversy wasn’t addressed candidly, but an episode titled No Good Read Goes Unpunished had Marge reading her daughter Lisa’s ‘favourite book ever’ while making sure old stereotypes were updates and politically correct.

As it was implied the segment was about their disagreement on Apu being offensive, Lisa replied: ‘Something that started decades ago and was applauded and inoffensive is now politically incorrect. What can you do?’

Fans began worrying that their beloved shopkeeper would be removed from the show but the rumours were dismissed as the writers’ saw no issue with Apu.

‘Some people are offended by the character and I take that very seriously. Others really love the character. It’s a difficult choice.

‘I don’t want to offend people but we also want to be funny. We don’t want to be totally politically correct. That has never been us. It’s given us a lot of thought.’

The Simpsons – now owned by Disney – have been working on the beloved character for 30 years in 30 seasons, so it’s no surprise the writers’ are hesitant to get rid of the father-of-eight.

Season 30 was wrapped up in May this year with seasons 31 and 31 currently in production.
