I’m A Celebrity 2019 won’t be moving despite forest fires AAP/Rex)

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will not be moving sites despite forest fires spreading throughout Australia.

Fans of the show have been concerned that the iconic camp would have to up sticks as flames grew nearer to the location, in Springbrook National Park, New South Wales.

However, an ITV spokesperson has confirmed that this is not the case.

In a statement issued to Metro.co.uk, they said: ‘We’re in constant contact with the NSW fire brigade and we currently have no cause for concern.’

Earlier this week it was reported that bosses of the show were thrown into panic after the blaze headed towards the jungle.

Australia’s East Coast has been hit by severe bush fires that have already seen mass evacuations in the Gold Coast.

The Sun reported that the flames are ‘dangerously close’ to the I’m A Celeb set, with fires said to be ‘out of control.’

An insider told the publication: ‘[The fires are] a bit of a law unto themselves and a change of wind direction can send them on a collision course with the camp.

‘ITV’s jungle is actually a banana plantation that cost £7million to turn into a working TV studio so if the fire gets any closer to it there will be some very worried executives.’

Firefighters are on hand to tackle the blazes and hopefully prevent them from spreading.

Fans are expecting Holly to make another appearance (Picture: Rex)

Bush fires pose a threat to the show every year, with 200 fires spreading in November last year while the celebrities were in the jungle.

Luckily, the celebs were able to stay put and filming was not affected.

The last time I’m a Celebrity bosses had to evacuate the camp was in 2015 after a particularly heavy storm.

It’s just two months until the hit reality show will be returning to our screens, with Ant McPartlin back presenting alongside Declan Donnelly.

It was also recently teased that Holly Willoughby, who stood in for Ant last year, might join the duo with Betway tipping her return at 2/1.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns to ITV later this year.

Lyra and Pan are heading to the small screen (Picture: BBC)

We now have an official release date for the His Dark Materials TV show.

It’s reportedly been one of the most expensive British TV productions and frankly, it’s getting harder and harder for us to keep our collective cool about it.

Thankfully the release date is fast approaching…

What is the release date for His Dark Materials?

His Dark Materials will premiere on Sunday 3 November on BBC One.

You’ll also be able to stream the eight-part series after the episodes air on BBC iPlayer.

Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper has overseen the whole series and helmed several episodes.

Combine that with the stellar cast and it’s little wonder why the hype is building.

Logan’s breakout star Dafne Keen, 13, will star as the tough-as-nails young Lyra.

The rest of the series’ fantastic line-up includes Ruth Wilson as Mrs Coulter, James McAvoy as Lord Asriel and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby.

Director Orro Bathurst previously told Metro.co.uk: ‘The books are quite Victoriana in their fantasy, but it’s pretty on the nose – there are a lot of fans of that book and it’s a great book so why mess with it?’

His Dark Materials will be released on BBC on Sunday 3 November.

Where is The I-Land on Netflix set and who is in the cast?

Netflix’s newest miniseries The I-Land looks nothing if not mysterious.

From its initial teaser trailer hinting at an island paradise where nothing was as it seemed, through to a second trailer where things get downright sinister, this looks as if it has serious binge-watch potential.

The series is released today on the streaming service – but just where is it set, exactly – and who’s in it?

Here’s what you need to know…

Where is The I-Land on Netflix set?

The I-Land is set on a deserted island which might look idyllic but is anything but.

The plot sees 10 people wake up on the island, with no memory of who they are or how they got there.

It’s down to them to try and escape from their new home – but that’s easier said than done, with the island proving treacherous and potentially even deadly.

Lost meets Hunger Games anyone?

Who is in the cast of The I-Land?

The cast of The I-Land is led by Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns) as KC, while she’s joined by Magic Mike star Alex Pettyfer, who plays the role of Brody.

Meanwhile Kingdom star Natalie Martinez also features as Chase, while other roles are taken by Being Human’s Kyle Schmid, actress Sybilla Deen (who played Amber McNeil in Home And Away), Dark Phoenix’s Kota Eberhardt and Gotham star Michelle Veintimilla.

Bosworth recently said of the show: ‘It’s the idea of nature versus nurture. If you and I were to wake up on a deserted island, and something drastic were to happen, would we have souls?

‘Each episode gets more and more intense, and drastically so. The stakes get raised higher and higher. It’s binge-able.’

The I-Land is available now to stream on Netflix UK.

Game of Thrones star Jacob Anderson insists Jon Snow should have been killed in finale: ‘He got off too lightly’

Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Kit Harington as Jon Snow HBO has released 35 photos from the series finale episode of Game of Thrones. The episode has now aired on both coasts of the U.S. and the network has revealed all of the great photos snapped by their team during production of the finale. Among the stars included in the photos are Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. We recapped all of the 20 biggest moments that happened during the series finale, so make sure to take a look at that. Also, we have Emilia?s reaction to the big twist that happened with her character Daenerys, plus Kit?s thoughts on the shocking death of one of the characters in the finale.
Jon and Daenerys’ heartbreaking end was one of the most emotional moments ever in the series (Picture: HBO)

Game Of Thrones star Jacob Anderson would have gone ham on Jon Snow (Kit Harington) for murdering his queen Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

Game Of Thrones season eight saw Jon decide to kill Daenerys, his lover and aunt, out of fear that she would become a tyrant if she took the Iron Throne.

As a punishment, Jon was sent back to the Watch, where he would take no wife, hold no lands, etc etc – much to Grey Worm’s (Anderson) frustration.

While Grey Worm is a peaceful guy, the actor who plays him feels Jon literally got away with murder.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Jacob joked: ‘I’d take his head off!

‘I feel like from Grey Worm’s perspective, it’s just there had been enough violence by that point.

‘Grey Worm was all about peace at that point, he was like, “right I just wanna go and chill on an island and fulfill my promise to Missandei”. Personally I feel like he got off a bit lightly.

‘Can you imagine? People would be very upset if Jon Snow was beheaded. People love that guy.’

HBO

He also likes to think of his character going on to lead a pretty chilled out life from where the show ended, living in Naath with the Unsullied and away from the Westeros mess.

‘I think it’s probably a peaceful place, I imagine there’s not a lot of beef going on there at the moment,’ Jacob told us.

‘I think maybe he’s actually had a chance to relax for once in his life. That’s how I like to think of it anyway. That’s what I want for him. Just being able to have some sleep.’

The 29-year-old has teamed up with ellesse for an empowering new campaign called For The Win, which is all about having a winning mindset – something the actor can relate to.

The actor said: ‘I think it’s about being a part of something that encourages you’ (Picture: Ellesse)

Jacob explained: ‘ I think it’s important to be really motivated to win in a competitive way. But I think you can also lose like a winner.

‘Just by entering yourself into something with enough passion and just caring about being a part of something that encourages you.’

He laughed: ‘Me and my wife play a lot of Monopoly. She’ll hate me for saying this but I’m really good at Monopoly. Even though I’m winning, she wants to lose in the best way possible.’

Jacob Anderson currently features in the ellesse AW19 For The Win campaign. For The Win reinforces the brand’s winning mindset, defining winning as more than just an outcome but as a style, confidence and attitude. Further information on the collection can be found at ellesse.com.

Neil and Alex looked to be having a blast together (Picture: Backgrid)

Strictly Come Dancing’s Neil Jones and Alex Scott already look inseparable as the pair enjoyed an evening stroll after rehearsals.

They’re in it to win it.

Despite only being in the first week of rehearsals, the pair already look to be getting on like a house on fire, giggling away as they took selfies and filmed videos together.

Both rocking gym wear, the duo appeared to have had a successful day of strutting their stuff as they smiled away, even having a playful argument on Neil’s Instagram Stories as they filmed a Q and A.

‘Out of the two of you, who is most competitive?’ a fan asked, with Alex replying: ‘Me!’

‘No, it’s me,’ the pro dancer argued.

‘Because of that basketball game! I won, by the way,’ the football pundit pointed out, before Neil interrupted: ‘Hey, I won the first one’ and demanded a rematch.

Neil, who’s clearly thrilled to be paired with a celebrity partner for the first time this series, also revealed he’s most excited to teach the footballer the jive, explaining that it’s because of ‘all the kicks. I’ve heard you kick a bit.’

Strictly's Neil Jones and Alex Scott
The pair went in for a hug (Picture: NASH / BACKGRID)

Can’t fault that logic.

Meanwhile, Alex, 34, went on to reveal that her pro partner had been rocking a skirt in rehearsals, before threatening to share the footage online.

In fact, she ended up following through and Neil’s alter-ego Lady Alex is something we definitely won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

It’s no surprise the pair looked in high spirits after their rehearsals, as Alex is tipped to get the first perfect 40 score from the judges.

Swapping the football pitch for the ballroom floor, she’s also one of the favourites to win.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead pointed out: ‘She looks to have everything needed to be a Strictly success and we are already fully expecting her to be right there at the end in the battle for the Glitterball Trophy.’

So no pressure then?

Top Boy review: New Netflix series was worth painfully long six-year wait

$
0
0

In the last six years, we’ve had Donald Trump become President of the United States, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian welcome four children, and Meghan Markle leave Suits and marry Prince Harry.

And now the imaginable has happened – Top Boy is back.

Thanks to the help of rapper Drake, the highly-acclaimed show has been scooped up by Netflix long after being shelved by Channel 4 and now a new chapter of the gritty east-end drama is just one day from landing in our eager arms.

The story picks up with Dushane (Ashley Walters) returning to the capital after keeping a low-profile in Jamaica, where he reunites with recently released ex-convict Sully (Kane Robinson) to reclaim their throne in the highly lucrative drug market.

But of course, strutting in and swiping the top spot isn’t going to be so easy and awaiting them both is Jamie (Micheal Ward), the new ruthless gang leader who’s not going to take them swanning in lightly.

Jamie’s threats pose risk to Dushane and Sully showing a lot has changed since they were ruling the roost – and that’s what we like to see.

Top Boy season 3 on Netflix
The brand new season of Top Boy is right around the corner (Picture: Netflix)

The world doesn’t revolve around them anymore. A lot has changed.

A load of new faces have been thrown into the Top Boy world to inject fresh life into the series following its almost-death, giving us storylines galore and showing London’s streets really do move at a seismic pace.

From the music industry, Little Simz and Dave have joined the cast, with Sex Education star Kadeem Ramsay, Black Mirror’s Kola Bokinni and Obey’s Jasmine Jobson following suit. Together they bring resounding energy while still keeping the old spirit we fell in love with running through the seams.

On top of all these new characters, this third season consists of a whopping 10 episodes. Yep, 10.

Long are the days of the four-hour series (although we can’t deny that being able to binge Top Boy: Summerhouse in one sitting isn’t delightful).

This time around, the showrunners have over double the amount of time Channel 4 allotted them and it really does make all the difference as they’re able to explore storylines and characters in a depth we’ve never previously been gifted.

This chapter isn’t hurried along like the previous two seasons have been and it feels like Christmas has come early.

So thank you Drake for being the driving force behind this revival and thank you Netflix for giving us more #content for us to sink our teeth into.

All that’s left to say now is hopefully we won’t be holding out for six more years for another series of Top Boy. Too soon…?

Top Boy arrives Friday 13th September on Netflix.

Netflix accidentally leaks The Witcher release date in now deleted tweet which we have here

Henry Cavill
We mean, it’s not that many more sleeps until it’s out (Picture: Netflix)

Netflix did themselves dirty and accidentally leaked the release date of their own show, The Witcher.

Luckily, they deleted the Twitter post almost immediately, but that’s still not quick enough for eagle-eyed fans.

The streaming giant tweeted a list of shows alongside side the number of sleep before their releases, and next to The Witcher was lucky number 97.

Assuming the tweet was actually accurate, we only have to wait until 17 December to finally see Henry Cavill flick his platinum blonde wolf locks.

Most of the other release dates on the list were already known, but Netflix was adamant to keep quiet about the new fantasy drama.

The Witcher
We’ve got a lot of binge-watching to do (Picture: Facebook)

Even if the post was accurate, there’s a chance Netflix may change the release date again just to keep it under wraps.

Fans have been wildly excited for the pilot to air, especially after cast member Anya Chalotra – who plays the witch Yennifer – bravely claimed The Witcher will be just as big and successful as Game of Thrones.

The stotng following of the original books and subsequent video games should mean the writers and producers took care in making the perfect drama for diligent fans.

We don’t want to relive what happened with Eragon, do we?

Anya spoke at San-Diego Comic-Con about the arrival of the show and said: ‘[The Witcher blowing up like Game of Thrones] means my life would blow up as well, wouldn’t it?

‘Yeah. You know, I’m taking it moment to moment and this already has been very overwhelming. It’s very scary.’

Very little has been disclosed about the adaption, but we do know that the The Witcher’s first season will consist of eight episodes.

Joining Anya and Henry in the cast are Ripper Street’s MyAnna Buring as the sorceress Tissaia de Vries and Freya Alan as the Princess Ciri, who plays a significant role in both the books and video games, so expect her to feature heavily.

As for Anya’s own character Yennifer, she’s touted as Geralt’s true love, and a mighty sorceress in her own right. So expect the actress and a certain Mr Cavill to be sharing a lot of time together on-screen.

The Witcher looks like it will be coming to Netflix on December 17, but watch this space…

Strictly’s Janette Manrara horrified as she discovers Will Bayley has bled through his socks during training

Strictly pro Janette Manrara was horrified in rehearsals after discovering celeb partner Will Bayley has literally danced until his feet bled.

Janette and Will have dubbed themselves ‘Team Pocket Racket’ for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing competition, and Paralympian is clearly putting in everything he can to be the best.

Literal blood, sweat and tears, by the looks of it.

Taking to Instagram, Janette shared a video and revealed the horrors of her co-stars feet which had bled so profusely that it had come through his socks.

Janette shared a video of her horror, apologising to Will who didn’t seem to mind as he declared: ‘I’m a real dancer now!’ and waving his hands in the air in victory.

He later saw the damage himself and added: ‘Actually…that is quite bad!’

Will Bayley is a triple-medal Paralympic table tennis champion, and has arthrogryposis, a rare condition which affects all four of his limbs, causing curved and/or stiff joints, as well as muscle weakness.

It seems his work ethic so far is impressing Janette, who later calmed down worries that Will was seriously hurt.

She wrote: ‘Wow!! What a hard worker! Cannot believe he was pushing through w/ this! Nothing serious everyone! Just a small scratch from his nail rubbing against his toe, but it did bleed!

‘He only noticed when I suggested he could give his feet a break from his shoes! I cannot say enough how impressive this man’s attitude is.

‘Feeling so inspired by him everyday! What a champ! Love ya @willbayleytt & thank you for working so hard! We’ve got this champ!! #TeamPocketRacket

According to bookies, Will is in good stead and seems to be safe for now – with David James and James Cracknell both being odds-on faces to leave in the first week.

We’ll see how his efforts pay off in just over a weeks’ time.

Strictly Come Dancing airs 21 September on BBC One.

Summer is ending, the warm jumpers are beginning to make an appearance in our wardrobes again and Starbucks is back to serving pumpkin spice lattes – welcome back Autumn, we’ve missed you.

Mainly because Autumn’s arrival marks the kick start of some of the most anticipated telly of the year, and we don’t even need an excuse anymore to stay in and watch them.

Sorry, dance floors across the UK, we’re trading in our fancy shoes for slippers and a night in on the sofa, and we’re about to be living our best lives.

There’s a hell of a lot to pick from in the remaining months, but never fear – Metro.co.uk have made a list of essentials to watch by the turn of 2020.

Here’s all the top picks for what’s coming up this autumn and winter (and when/where you can catch them)…

Strictly Come Dancing – BBC One (airs 21 September)

Strictly is the ultimate Saturday night guilty pleasure and we’re not even sorry about it – we love it, and we want to be on it one day.

Every year there’s a crowd of people jeering ‘who?!’ at some of the contestants, complaining it’s gone downhill, and then caving and watching it anyway.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 line up
Strictly is still putting on the glitz for us every year and you know it’s going to be fabulous (Picture: PA)

And we’re totally on board with this year’s line-up, and the ultimate Eastenders/Corrie/Emmerdale soap clash its representing with his contestants.

The live shows haven’t even started yet and we’ve lost Jamie Laing (though Kelvin Fletcher was quick to step in and save the day!)

Everyone’s first live dance happens on 21 September – so it’s time to get your Cha Cha on…in the kitchen after a few glasses of wine while the real pros show us how it’s done.

Emma Willis the Circle
Emma Willis will be taking over hosting duties on The Circle (Picture: Channel 4)

The Circle – Channel 4 (airs 24 September)

The reality show with a twist is back for a new series and this time Emma Willis is taking over as host.

The Circle pits a bunch of strangers against each other in a virtual world – where they’re given the option to catfish their opponents or to be themselves.

At the end of the series, the most liked member of The Circle wins, no matter what they did to get there.

Last year’s debut series saw Alex Hobern take home £75,000 – £50k for being voted the most popular by their competitors, and £25k for being voted the fan favourite.

Not bad for someone who pretended to be a woman that didn’t exist for the entire show’s run…

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 14
The Gang are still the worst and we couldn’t love them more (Picture: FX)

It’s Always Sunny season 14 – Netflix (airs 25 September)

The worst human beings to ever grace our screens are back this September and we couldn’t be more happy about it.

Dennis, Mac, Charlie, Dee and Frank have been no-holds-barred for their entire time on the show, but their ambition to up the ante means it’s probably about to get a hell of a lot worse.

The preview trailer sees them heads to the zoo, Dee poison herself in the middle of a bar, and Dennis get into a laser tag war with a pre-teen.

Then there’s the mystery of Frank’s bizarre relationship with a casaba melon.

While a lot of beer is consumed, naturally.

Ryan Murphy’s heading to Netflix with his most stylised series yet (Picture: Netflix)

The Politician – Netflix (airs 27 September)

We can’t say too much about The Politician just yet – but for Ryan Murphy fans out there, we guarantee it’s a must.

The series follows Payton (Ben Platt) who is dead set on getting to the oval office and one day becoming president.

But to get there, he has to win over the voters of his high school to be class president, and also the Harvard administration board.

Soon he’s pulling out his shadiest tactics in order to get there.

Making a whole bunch of enemies along the way, and recruiting his besties as his advisors, the dog-eat-dog world of politics has never been so relatable.

RuPaul Drag Race
Time to see the UK represent and slay! (Picture: BBC)

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK – BBC Three (airs 3 October)

It’s the moment UK Drag Race fans have been waiting for for years…and now we’re finally going to see how our homegrown queens do in front of RuPaul herself.

The 10 girls picked have a lot to live up to, and it’s clear that they’ve all come to play.

So place your bets now on who’s going to be Miss Congeniality, or who’s going to be one shady lady.

Gentlemen, start your engines, and may the best woman win.

Big Mouth renewed for three more seasons Provider: Netflix
Team Big Mouth are back for three more seasons (Picture: Netflix)

Big Mouth season 3 – Netflix (airs 4 October)

Renewed for three more seasons, Big Mouth has already lined itself up to be in line with other adult cartoon greats like South Park and Family Guy.

Tracking the story of puberty through the eyes of some pretty freaky monsters and a rightfully terrified group of school kids, it’s definitely one for the books.

While not much is known about this season, it’s obvious that it’s going to be more of the same.

Blunt body experimentation, questions over sexuality, and a whole lotta growing pains.

The Walking Dead
Oh look, it’s a no from us (Picture: Fox)

The Walking Dead season 10 – FOX (airs 7 October)

The Walking Dead is back on fine form after (let’s all admit it) touch and go couple of seasons.

Following the horrific end of season nine that saw nine survivors beheaded with their heads on spikes, it’s clear there’s a war afoot.

Now Alexandria camp has to rally their troops to take down the Whisperers.

But let’s face it, that’s going to be easier said than done, and the Whisperers have proven themselves more than a match for the fan favourites.

Let battle commence…

His Dark Materials

His Dark Materials – BBC One (airs 3 November)

This big budget drama is not only on the hit list for people in the UK, but also around the world thanks to the big budget crossover that will see the book adaptation take on a life of its own.

Based on the Phillip Pullman trilogy of the same name, His Dark Materials takes you to a world where all humans have a creature (called a daemon) by their side at all times as a spirit guide.

Lyra, a young girl, heads out on an adventure to find keys to parallel universes, and the people she meets along the way, good and bad, help set the adventure in motion.

The cast includes: James McAvoy, Helen McCrory, Andrew Scott, David Suchet, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Ruth Wilson and Omid Djalili to name a few.

Basically, it’s going to be massive.

Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies in The Crown season 3
Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies take over the leading roles in the new series of The Crown (Picture: Netflix)

The Crown – Netflix (airs 17 November)

Olivia Colman’s entrance into the world of The Crown has been anticipated for more than a year and now we’ll finally get to see her in action.

Taking over from Claire Foy, the actress will be joined by Tobia Menzies as her Prince Philip.

But all is not OK in the palace, and the show will pick up from 1964 and follow through to 1976 – a vital 12-year period for the family.

Among the things Queen Elizabeth has to deal with is a young Prince Charles assuming more responsibility within the family – and is introduced to Camilla Shand (soon-to-be Parker-Bowles) for the first time.

Meanwhile her sister Margaret’s marriage to Lord Snowdon begins to break down in the public eye, and ends with her taking a toyboy lover once their divorce goes through.

Apple TV
Apple TV are going all out with the a-list cast for their first major series (Picture: Apple TV)

The Morning Show – AppleTV (airs November)

The Morning Show is the first major series that Apple TV has thrown the big bucks behind, and man, there has been no expense spared.

Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Reese Witherspoon lead the cast of the series, which is based around a Good Morning Britain style telly series.

After Steve’s character is fired, news anchor Jennifer gets to go it alone, but a new face on the scene (Reese) could threaten everything.

It’s a massive risk for the streaming service so we can’t wait to see if it pays off.

Rick and Morty
Rick and Morty are back for more adventures…with Kanye? (Picture: Adult Swim)

Rick and Morty – Channel 4 (airs November)

It’s been two years since season three ended in 2017 and Mr Poopybutthole claimed that it will be a long wait until season four.

Well, he was right but finally we know the show is going to be aired in November – even though we don’t know exactly when.

it won’t be long until we find out what hair-brained schemes Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith have been up to.

Evil Morty’s dictatorship as President of the Citadel is definitely still an issue, with his presence in the season four trailer dominating fans’ interests.

One of an infinite number of Mortys, fans spotted the recurring series villain in an arty new picture shared on the show’s Twitter account, with the evil figure blending in among the regular Mortys.

I'm a Celebrity 2018 cast

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here – ITV (airs November)

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here is a mainstay of evening telly during the cold winter months.

It reminds us of simpler times and also makes us feel better that while it’s now so freezing we’re walking like robots, at least we’re not sweating hot and covered head to toe in bugs.

Perspective, guys.

While a cast, or a start date is yet to be confirmed, the show traditionally starts on the third November of the series.

Who could be the person to take Harry Redknapp’s crown from him?!

A Christmas Carol – BBC (airs December)

Guy Pearce has signed on for what could be the most horrifying version of the Christmas Carol tale yet – seriously, the Muppets are quaking right now.

While the story of Scrooge being visited by the ghosts of his past, present and future on Christmas eve is well-worn territory, the team behind the project is enough to make us realise this is not going to be just another version of the show.

Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight is writing the script, while Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott are executive producing the mini-series, which will see the show play out in three episodes.

Other cast members include Joe Alwyn, Stephen Graham (This Is England), Charlotte Riley and Vinette Robinson.

Gavin and Stacey: The Christmas Special – BBC One (airs 25 December)

Pretty much the whole of the UK jumped up out of their seats, yelled “Oh My Christ” and did the robot when it was announced that James Corden and Ruth Jones had penned a one of Christmas special for this year.

We already know it’s been filmed, we know the release date, and by the looks of it, the whole cast has got involved as well.

So we can’t wait to sit down and watch the Billericay/Barry collective get together for the most wonderful time of the year.

Just noone go near Smithy’s roast because he will not be happy.

The Witcher – Netflix (Release date unknown)

The Witcher has been touted as Netflix’s answer to Game Of Thrones ever since it was announced in 2018 and it has a lot to live up to with a fandom already in place and ready to see what they’ve got.

Henry Cavill will be taking on the role of Geralt, after annoying bosses into giving him the role.

Geralt is the solitary monster hunter tasked with looking after a princess, with chaos and trouble ensuing in the fantasy series.

Though Witchers are indeed human, they’ve been chemically and magically altered to make them the perfect weapons for combating the supernatural beasts and monsters that haunt the strange land known as The Continent.

In the midst of the medieval world he lives, Geralt will inadvertently find himself at the centre of huge political and royal intrigues as well as cataclysmic events.

Sign us up, we’re ready for some action.

Vikings season 6 – History Channel (Release date unknown)

It’s a long time coming (and it feels like we’ve been waiting forever) but Vikings is finally coming back to our screens.

However, it’s definitely going to be bittersweet, considering that it’s also the final season.

But they’ve got a lot of ground to cover before they do, especially considering the end of season 5.

Katheryn Winnick has  teased one last battle for Lagertha, but we can’t help but feel blood will be shed, and it might be hers.

Then there’s the case of whether or not Bjorn is the rightful new king after Ivar The Boneless fled Kattegat following his brutal takedown and headed to Russia.

It sounds as though there are many more surprises ahead, and many more battles to be won, before the History Channel show is drawn to an end with its sixth and final season.

You season 2 – Netflix (Release date unknown)

You became one of the first surprise smash hits of 2019 after being picked up by Netflix as an original.

Initially released in September 2018 by US sire A&E, the show really didn’t get off the ground until it hit the streaming service.

It was revealed in February that work had begun with the sequel, which would be based off book Hidden Bodies.

Since then, stars including Gotham’s Robin Lord Taylor, Jane the Virgin’s Jenna Ortega, and Russian Doll’s Charlie Barnett will star.

The subject of Penn Badgely’s character Joe’s obsessive and deadly character will be a girl called Love Quinn, played by Haunting Of Hill House’s Victoria Pedretti.

Celebrity X Factor / X Factor All Stars – ITV (Release date unknown)

Last year’s series caused Simon Cowell and the team to have a major reshuffle with what’s coming up in the future of the show.

Despite standing by the format even through its dwindling ratings, the show has now been given a reboot with a Celebrity/All Stars version.

While the series hasn’t even been officially confirmed as of yet, rumours from the set have differed from amateur celebs giving it a go, and former X Factor performers returning for a new shot at glory.

Whatever happens, it seems like it’s going to be a good one – and we love ourselves the annual fight night on a Saturday between Strictly and X Factor.

South Park cartoon
You’ll soon be able to stream South Park on Netflix in the UK (Picture: Rex Features)

Cult cartoon South Park is about to land on Netflix in the UK – so your hangover viewing is basically going to be sorted forever more.

‘Screw you guys, I’m going home – to Netflix!’

(This is not a direct quote).

South Park, the cult cartoon for adults that rose to prominence on Comedy Central in the 90s has a new UK home after it was confirmed that the hit TV show with Eric Cartman, Kenny McCormick, Kyle Broflovski and Stan Marsh is headed to Netflix UK!

Confirming the news on Twitter, Netflix UK tweeted on Thursday: ‘Oh my god, they k̶i̶l̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶K̶e̶n̶n̶y̶ put South Park on Netflix. Coming to the UK/IE on 27 Sep.’

However, one caveat: it’s not the entire series, but, according to the tweet, ‘Season 1’, ‘Seasons 18-21’ and ‘a collection of top episodes which includes critically acclaimed episodes, fan favourites, and others chosen by the creators.’

South Park, which set in Colorado, USA, has amassed 297 episodes since its 13 August 1997 debut and is still going strong.

It won an array of awards, including Emmys for Animated Program in 2013, 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2005. (Yes, really).

Other shows on Netflix that originally launched in the 90s include That 70s Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and of course, Friends, which debuted in 1994 and is currently celebrating its 25-year birthday.

It might not be the whole lot but we’ll take it – there’s nothing quite like spending the whole of Sunday curled up on the sofa binge-watching South Park, is there?

The Hairy Bikers return to our screens this week (Picture: BBC)

The Hairy Bikers are set to travel down Route 66 in their newest series, stop by at different states to look at the history of their food and people.

The famous American road covers large parts of America and the trip will see them visit small towns as well as larger food industries.

Speaking about teh trip, Si said: ‘It’s one of those iconic motorcycle trips – we just got round to doing it as it’s such a great time to discover the United States of America, because of the huge changes that have gone on.’

Here is everything that you need to know about Route 66 and when you can watch the new Hairy Bikers series.

Where is Route 66 and how many miles is it?

Route 66 was first established in November 1926 and it is considered to be one of the most famous roads in the US.

It total it covers 2,448 miles and covers a large part of the United States, starting in Chicago near the eastern part of the country and finishes in Los Angeles, California on the west coast.

Speaking about the history of Route 66, Dave Myers said: ‘The modern America that we know today owes an awful lot to Route 66. But within that, we went back to the basics of Native American people, the trail of tears, where Cherokee people were taken from their land – all of that links to Route 66 and the migration.

‘It took us a while to realise the depth of culture and history that was there, and that was what we really wanted to explore.’

Mark Strong on moving behind the camera for Sky drama Temple: ‘I’ve learnt how terrifying it is to make anything’

Mark Strong in Temple
Mark Strong stars in and executive produces new drama Temple (Picture: Sky)

Sky One’s new drama Temple doesn’t do things by half measures, wrapping an unusual concept into London’s underground with gore, romance and thriller elements battling for attention.

A remake of Norwegian TV series Valkyrien, it’s an especially bold project for first time executive producer Mark Strong. While he has a proven track record acting in joyously absurd projects like Kick Ass, Kingsman, and recently DC’s Shazam, Temple feels like a brave and challenging risk for anyone’s first time making decisions behind the camera.

Following a screening of the first two episodes to press, his extra involvement appears to have left him analytical of his own viewing habits when choosing what to watch.

‘I think the third [episode] is usually an extremely important one,’ Mark tells Metro.co.uk. ‘That’s the one I think when I watch stuff that I usually decide whether I’m going to stick with it or not. And our third episode is really strong.’

‘But you’re right, the second one lets it breathe and you can relax, and the third one cranks up the energy again and takes it somewhere else.’

Temple follows Daniel Milton (Mark Strong), a surgeon who has set up an illegal clinic within the London Underground tunnels for desperate patients, including his wife Beth (Catherine McCormack).

Mark Strong in Temple
Temple boasts an impressive cast and a darkly absurd concept (Picture: Sky)

A series of events bring transport employee Lee Simmons (Daniel Mays) and medical researcher Anna Willems (Carice Van Houten) into his unsavoury clinic, sparking concerns his attempt to save his wife could be jeopardised if the clinic’s existence is released to the world.

The concept is what attracted Mark to produce the project to begin with, noticing its potential after watching the pilot episode for the Norwegian original.

‘I watched the pilot and I remember thinking that’s really unusual,’ Mark said. ‘It was a level of storytelling that was so heightened and different from anything that I’d ever seen.

‘In this very crowded TV space we’re in at the moment where so much is getting made — how do you make something that’s interesting? How do you tell a story to somebody that people haven’t already seen? That I felt was the most important thing, to find a story that was different and I always felt that this was it.’

Mark’s jump into producing however wasn’t necessarily to satisfy a long-standing creative itch for the actor. Instead, he describes it as a chance opportunity which was too good to miss.

‘I think I got to the stage where over the years I’d learned some stuff,’ Mark said. ‘I know some stuff instinctively and even though I hadn’t produced, I feel like genuinely I have something to say about casting, locations, dialogue, all of those things because I’ve done so much in my time.

‘So to have the opportunity to do that was too good to turn down. It just basically meant I could have some quality control over what we were making.’

While it remains to be seen whether Temple will find an audience in the crowded TV landscape, Mark has taken some valuable, brutal lessons from the whole experience.

‘I’ve learnt how terrifying it is to actually make anything at all,’ Mark said.

‘The scaffolding required to build one of these shows is something that you’re normally not privy too. It’s a bit like seeing the wizard behind the curtain being an actor allowed into the production room, because the honest truth is you become aware of how hard everyone is working and how many cogs are required to keep the machine running.

‘As an actor, your job is to come in, hit your mark, say your lines, connect with the other actors and deliver the truth of the scene. But when that’s done, that’s your job done.

‘Whereas the producing element means there’s so much other stuff to think about; whether you’re shooting too slowly or too quickly, locations might fall through and you’ve got to work out what you’re going to do if that happens, if something happens that means a scene has to be deferred, you’ve gotta work out when that can be done. There’s a whole other level of stress to incorporate but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

‘If we’re lucky enough to get a second season and who knows, more, I would certainly be involved. I feel like this is my baby.’

Temple begins on Sky One Friday 13 September at 9pm, with all episodes available to stream on Sky Go.

Love Island cast forced to reshoot scenes if they stumble over text messages

The Love Island cast were forced to reshoot scenes if they stumbled when reading out text messages.

Maura Higgins, who came fourth in this year’s show with her partner Curtis Pritchard, has opened up on what happens during the popular dating show when the cameras stop rolling.

And it sounds as though there’s more to being an islander than lounging in the sun.

When chatting to RTE, the former ring girl was asked if they ever had to reshoot scenes when producers weren’t happy.

Pulling a face at the question, the outspoken reality star grinned: ‘Yes, yeah we did.’

She went on: ‘Just say for instance if a text came through and you weren’t as loud or you stumbled on your words, you’d have to retake.’

It apparently happened quite regularly would you believe (Picture: ITV)

Which does make sense considering the texts are such a crucial part of the series.

‘Obviously because, I mean, some words I’d be like… I’d say it wrong and I’d be like, “aww…”‘ she explained: ‘I’d have to do it again. Which happened a lot actually.’

Maura recently landed several presenting jobs on This Morning, as well as a £500,000 deal with boohoo.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk ahead of her clothing line announcement, the 28-year-old confessed that she thought the public wouldn’t like her when leaving the villa.

And boy was she wrong.

‘I was expecting hate when I came out! I wasn’t expecting people to be so nice,’ she told us.

‘I thought I’d get hate because I was so opinionated in there, but it was all really nice. I was definitely surprised how positive it’s all been.’

And it seems as though we might be seeing even more of our Love Island fav, as she failed to quash those I’m A Celeb rumours.

‘I’ve heard a lot of things that I’m supposedly meant to be going on and you know what, who knows,’ she teased at the TV Choice awards.

‘Right now, I’m just taking every day as it comes and there are lots of exciting opportunities there but I can’t really comment on anything because I really don’t know.’

Love Island returns to ITV2 at the beginning of 2020.

Jesy Nelson’s BBC documentary Odd One Out airs tonight and includes the singer talking about the abuse she has received on social media, and attempting to take her own life.

The Little Mix singer will also speak about how it affected her mental health, while her bandmates will also share their own thoughts on how it changed their group.

Jesy Nelson’s partner Chris Hughes will also be speaking out their relationship since they started dating at the start of last year.

He has recently described her as a ‘role model’ and recently commented that he wants to marry her and start a family.

When was Chris Hughes on Love Island?

Chris Hughes took part in the third series of Love Island, which aired in 2017.

He joined the group on day four and lasted until the finale of the show, finishing in third place with his partner Olivia Attwood.

He had initially coupled up with Chloe Crowhurst when he joined, but by day 20 he had coupled up with Olivia and then they remained together until the end.

The couple confirmed that they had ‘split for good’ in February 2018, and it was claimed that he had ended their relationship by text.

What else has Chris Hughes been in?

Since Love Island Chris Hughes has mainly stayed in the media spotlight with appearances on various game shows and panel shows.

After leaving the island he took part in Celebrity Ghost Hunt Live, and then made appearances in Celebrity Juice and How to Spend It Well at Christmas.

In 2018 him and Olivia Attwood produced a few episodes of Chris & Olivia: Crackin’ On, which was a reality series centred around their relationship.

He has also made various appaearances on Loose Women, Lorraine and This Morningf, and earlier this year he showed up on an episode of Love Island: Aftersun.

Amazon Prime has gone and dropped the trailer for the upcoming series, Modern Love, and we’ve been given all the feels.

While it seems to be landing on the streaming site a couple of months too early (like, shouldn’t this be released on Valentines day?), the teaser presents us with those cosy, winter night vibes that we’ll be sure to tune into with a cup of hot chocolate.

The show stars the likes of Tina Fey, Dev Patel, Cristin Milioti and Anne Hathaway – let us just catch out breath – Gary Carter, Sofia Boutella, Olivia Cooke, Brandon Victor Dixon, John Gallagher Jr, Andy Garcia, Julia Garner, Catherine Keener, Andrew Scott, and John Slattery and Shea Whigham.

We can’t deny that the network has pulled out the stops to secure a stellar cast, and by the looks of things, fans won’t be disappointed.

In the two minute preview, we’re introduced to our new heroes who are all on their own quest to find true love.

‘The open, honest, painful and sometimes messy search for love is what makes it so real,’ the description reads underneath the video, and it looks like it’s going to be just that.

Based on the popular New York Times column, which also features the same name, the rom-com will bring eight real stories to life in their very own standalone episodes.

Hathaway’s role finds her swept off her feet when asked on a date by someone she has just met, while Milioti plays a girl questioning her life choices as she struggles with an unplanned pregnancy.

Fey and Slattery are a couple who have found themselves seeking relationship therapy, but as they struggle to get intimate it seems Gallagher and Boutella’s characters are doing just fine in the bedroom as they end up in hospital from a ‘sex injury’.

And fans are already impressed by what they’ve seen as they commented their thoughts, that are wrapped up in excitement, underneath the clip.

‘This cast is surreal,’ one stated while another said: ‘This is absolutely beautiful.’

Someone else shared: ‘Amazon Prime already got me with two shows so let’s see if this will make it three.’

Todd Hoffman and John Carney are the executive producers of the eight-part-series while Trish Hofmann will also serve as a co-executive producer.

Sam Dolnick and Choire Sicha of The New York Times have also had their say, as they too join the group of executive producers.

Each episode will last for an hour and a half and will focus on one of the hundreds of essays written for the much loved column.

Modern Love will be available to stream on Amazon Prime 18 October.

Stranger Things season three recently dropped onto Netflix and fans are already planning wild theories.

While the final episode left us on a cliff hanger surrounding Jim Hopper’s (played by David Harbour) fate, it seems viewers are convinced the much loved character will one day be rescued.

As we eagerly wait to find out who will free the policeman, one theory suggests we haven’t even met his savior yet.

Taking to Reddit, a user shared: ‘A 10-year-old Russian boy starting with B will be introduced.

‘He’ll have some mind-related superpower like El, and his number will be, or should be, 013, He’s the person who, following the orders of the evil Russian superiors and the instructions of Dr. Brenner — the American prisoner, opened the gate in Russia.’

Stranger Things Hopper
Is he really dead? (Picture: Netflix)

They added: ‘He’ll be like the new Alexei, a sweet, innocent guy who wins the hearts of all the viewers.

‘In the last episode when El, and all the other numbers she’s gathered such as 007, 009, 010, and 012 (not Kali because she’s sort of useless in battle), come together and travel to the Upside Down to rescue Hop, the Russian boy will work close alongside El in battle, and will make the ultimate sacrifice to kill the Mind Flayer and save everyone.’

Followers of the thread asked how they managed to come up with the name B: ‘Every season someone starting with B died — Benny, Barb, Bob, Billy.

‘He’ll be the B of season 4.’ We can so get with this.

In the final episode, Jim was seemingly killed after sacrificing himself so Joyce (Winona Ryder) could close the gate between the Upside Down and the real world.

But is Hopper actually dead? There’s a growing amount of evidence, coupled with that post-credits scene, which indicates David’s character isn’t entirely a lost cause.

Stranger Things seasons one, two and three are available to stream on Netflix.

Jesy Nelson Katie Hopkins
Jesy fans are shocked by Katie’s ‘vile’ tweet

Jesy Nelson fans have slammed Katie Hopkins over her ‘vile’ tweet about the Little Mix singer’s weight.

In her new BBC One documentary Odd One Out, the 28-year-old singer bravely documents her battle with social media bullying and reveals that she attempted suicide due to the incessant negative comments about her image.

One scene revisits a tweet sent by Katie after Little Mix’s performance on The X Factor in 2013.

Katie tweeted: ‘Packet Mix have still got a chubbier in their ranks. Less Little Mix. More Pick n Mix.’

Viewers have expressed their ‘disgust’ at Katie’s comments and have called for her to feel ‘ashamed’ of herself for targeting the young singer.

One upset fan reacted: ‘@KTHopkins Katie, I hope you are feeling proud with yourself tonight after watching #OddOneOut with #JesyNelson . What you did and tweeted was despicable. But you have to live with yourself.. good luck [sic].’

Sharing a similar sentiment, another fan said: ‘I hope katie Hopkins is thoroughy ashamed of herself for fuelling what poor #jesynelson was going through. Although sadly KH was not alone in the attacks [sic].’

Praising Jesy for her bravery while condemning Katie, another supporter tweeted: ‘Heartbreaking watching the horrific social media abuse that Jesy Nelson faced.

‘To think that Katie Hopkins contributed to the bullying – a well known adult contributing towards the suicidal wishes of a vulnerable young person.Unbelievable #OddOneOut – incredibly strong young lady.’

Calling for a crackdown on online bullying, one other said: ‘Cannot believe what @KTHopkins said about @iamjesylouise this documentary is breaking my heart always loved jesy no matter what size beautiful inside and out #JesyNelson #stopshaming #wearebeautiful.’

Elsewhere in the documentary, Jesy detailed the horrific moment she tried to take her own life, completely exasperated by the bullying.

‘I was sat in bed thinking this is never going to go,’ she explained.

‘I’m going to constantly wake up and feel sad for the rest of my life so what is the point in being here. There is no point in waking up and feeling sad every day.’

Jesy Nelson’s Odd One Out will be available to view on BBC iPlayer after the show.

The 42-year-old took to the programme with the hope he would find true love.

The pair appeared to be the perfect match for one another as they were both from a performing background.

Anna revealed she grew up dancing, and had even turned down previous relationships in order to pursue her dreams.

After discussing how well travelled he was, the Bring It All Back hitmaker confessed he was from the famous 90s band.

And it seems his history was all a bit too much for his date, as she told him she’d love to stay in touch – but not romantically.

‘I feel like we have so much in common,’ Anna said, letting him down lightly.

‘I had a really lovely time. But I do think it would be good if you were more confident, I think you’re a lovely person and the industry has beaten you around a bit.’

She said: ‘You were apologising for yourself when you hadn’t even done anything.’

Tearing up in front of the camera, and asking for ‘a moment’, Paul choked up: ‘I feel like I hide the real me.

‘If I really want to find someone what this process has taught me is yes, I need to be more confident and not be afraid.’

First Dates Hotel continues Thursday at 9pm on Channel 4.

Billy Connolly was forced to explain he has Parkinson’s disease in The Great American Trail after a bagpipe player noticed his hands shaking.

Luckily, the beloved comedian managed to laugh off the awkward moment.

Billy revealed his prognosis in 2013, explaining that he had also been diagnosed with prostate cancer on the same day.

The disease means part of the brain becomes damaged over the years, affecting memory, hearing and energy levels.

The star, whose new series shows him travelling around the US met the musician in New Jersey.

After the bagpipe player gave Billy a mini-performance, he noted: ‘I can see your fingers going there,’ as he asked if he played.

‘No, I’ve got Parkinson’s,’ the 76-year-old replied, joking: ‘It’s second best to playing the pipes.’

Fans weren’t too impressed with the musician ‘putting his foot in it’, with some quoting the mishap on Twitter.

However, the star clearly wasn’t disheartened as he went on to play a tune on Hank Williams’ old guitar in an emotional moment.

‘It affected me a lot more deeply than I thought [it would],’ Billy admitted afterwards. ‘I’m scared, shaking.’

The Scottish comedian retired from stand-up last year as his health deteriorated, but he’s now heading on a trip across the US for his new ITV show.

Fans are already hooked, with some describing the series as ‘absolutely brilliant’ and Billy as ‘the best thing to come out of Scotland.’

No lies detected.

The first episode kicked off in New York during a tartan day parade, as he follows the migratory trail of Scots through the heart of America hundreds of years ago.

His journey takes him through to Plymouth, Massachusetts where pilgrims first arrived on US soil, before meeting a Native American tribe whose people and language was almost wiped out.

Other stops along the road include Boston to meet a group of nuns, and the graveside of Scot, Uncle Sam, who adorned the army recruitment posters.

Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail continues on ITV Thursday at 9pm.

Jesy Nelson’s documentary Odd One Out aired tonight and fans are running to praise the Little Mix star for her strength and bravery in revealing her suicide attempt.

The hour-long feature goes on a journey of rehabilitation as the singer opens up about the abuse she endured from cyberbullies and how she tried to take her own life.

People sat down to listen to Jesy’s story, from being known as the ‘fat one from Little Mix’ and becoming obsessed with checking negative comments on her appearance on social media to creating body positive anthems like Strip.

Heartbroken to hear about the singer’s battle, fans took to social media to support the 28-year-old singer.

One viewer tweeted: ‘Wow hats off to Jesy Nelson for opening up about suicide/bullying! I happen to think she’s beautiful’.

‘Saddened to hear #JesyNelson’s story of the online trolls who drove her to attempt suicide. The cruelty of some people is really beyond comprehension at times,’ another tweeted.

The  feature also saw the singer’s mum Janice Wright speak about regretting letting her once bubbly and fun daughter onto the X Factor auditions.

She had said: ‘I always say I wish it was back to normal. I wish I could have life as it was and have my funny little Jess back. I am so proud and when I watch her on stage I get excited. I’m the loudest cheerer in the crowd.

‘But as much as I love all that, and people must think how you can say that, if I could have my Jess back as she was before I’d change it like that.’

Jesy wasn’t alone as her documentary debuted.

Her famous pals – including Little Mix star Perrie Edwards and Gemma Collins – made sure to share how proud they were of her on their Instagram stories.

Fellow Little Mix star Perrie uploaded to her story: ‘Tonight at 9pm my best friend talks about not only the struggle she went through personally which is heartbreaking but what young people experience everyday! She’s the bravest badass I know. I’m beyond proud of you @jesynelson’.

Geordie Shore’s Holly Hagan was just as enthralled by the feature as we were, posting on her story: ‘Anyone who’s been bullied/is a bully needs to watch Jesy Nelson Odd One Out. This girl is the most brave and beautiful woman.

‘My favourite from day one. The girl I saw so much of myself in. Please know that not everything on social media is what it seems. We are all human beings.’

The star then goes on to warn others to think before they speak as ‘kindness costs nothing’.

Throughout the documentary fans were pleased to witness the support Jesy got from fellow band members Perrie, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock through her depressive episodes and anxiety attacks.

During their interviews, the band members were seen crying when discussing the hardships Jesy had been through.

One person tweeted: ‘Seeing jade, perrie and leigh anne crying that literally broke my hear, they love jesy so much and have given her so much love and support. that’s what you call sisterhood #OddOneOut’

Honestly, we all need friends like the girls from Little Mix.

Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out is available on BBC iPlayer.
