Sophie Turner lands first TV role since leaving Game of Thrones

Sophie Turner is set to star as another fiery redhead fighting to survive in her first TV role since wrapping on Game of Thrones.

The British actress, who was only 15 when the HBO fantasy first aired in 2011, will appear in Survive, a new series for new short form mobile streaming service Quibi.

Based on the young adult novel by Alex Morel, the show follows Jane, a young woman who is forced to fend for herself when her plane crashes on a snow-topped mountain.

The only other survivor is Paul, played by The Walking Dead’s Corey Hawkins, with the pair of strangers embarking on a traumatic battle on top of the mountain as they hope to survive or be saved.

Sounds intense!

Speaking about the role, 23-year-old Sophie said: ‘I couldn’t be more honored to portray the role of Jane in Survive for Quibi.

‘She’s a complex character fighting against the odds to not only save her life, but to also find her own source of strength and courage.’

Not that we’re saying Sophie gets typecasted, but that does sound quite a lot like Sansa. Still, if she can get another Emmy nomination out of it, it’s definitely worth it…

The star continued: ‘I only hope this can impact anyone struggling with self-worth to understand they are braver than they know and to seek the support they need.’

Nice to know it’s not all doom and gloom.

Quibi may sound like a pretty wacky premise for a streaming platform, but the software, which is expected to launch in April 2020, has already signed up directors including Stephen Spielberg and Guillermo del Toro to work on the show.

How these filmmakers will work going from huge cinemas to tiny phones, we’re not quite sure, but we’re definitely intrigued to find out.

Celebrity MasterChef fans question lack of ‘celebrities’ in Tuesday’s episode

**Warning contains Celebrity MasterChef spoilers.**

Celebrity MasterChef fans have questioned the lack of ‘celebrities’ in Tuesday night’s episode of the BBC cooking series.

The latest round of the competition saw radio and TV presenter Rickie Haywood-Williams compete against American motown singer Martha Reeves, boxer oxer Dillian Whyte, actress Elizabeth Bourgine and Olympic long jumper Greg Rutherford MBE.

However, a number of fans expressed concern that they ‘did not know’ who any of these famous faces were and asked where the ‘real ones’ were hiding.

Awkward.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts and disappointment with the episode’s lineup, with one writing: ‘CelebrityMasterchef… where’re the celebrities?’

‘Other than Greg Rutherford, I don’t know who these “celebrities” are #celebritymasterchef,’ another added, with a third blasting: ‘I mean I don’t work for advertising standards or anything but I’d have thought #CelebrityMasterchef should have celebrities?’

Martha Reeves
(Picture: BBC)

Others revealed they hadn’t heard of Martha Reeves at all, despite being referred to as ‘legendary’ on the show.

‘You can call this Motown singer ‘legendary’ as many times as you like, I’ve still never heard of her,’ the fan laughed.

In tonight’s episode, the celebrities were challenged with cooking their own burgers, before attempting to make their own dishes for customers in a public restaurant, as well as their own fish dishes.

And that was all before Ricky was eliminated, after failing to impress the judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode with his own salmon dish.

However, Ricky admitted that he wasn’t too bitter about leaving, as he said it was a ‘great experience’.

‘You know what, it’s been a great experience, I’ve had fun, it’s still a positive thing,’ he said.

It’s not the end of the road for the remaining four celebrities however, as they face the pressure even more in the next episode.

Celebrity MasterChef continues Wednesday at 8PM on BBC One.

Peaky Blinders spoilers: Furious Polly confronts Gina alongside Michael – has she discovered her secret?

Has Polly discovered Gina’s secrets? (Picture: BBC)

Things are about to seriously go down in the Peaky Blinders season 5 finale – and it looks like Polly (Helen McCrory) has discovered that Gina (Anya Taylor-Joy) has been keeping secrets.

The matriarch of the Shelby family is definitely not one to mess with and in front of son Michael (Finn Cole), Polly is seen facing off against the mysterious American that’s captured his heart.

Viewers already know that Gina is somehow involved with the evil Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), and by all indications it’s her that’s been feeding him information about the Birmingham gang, seeing as an unsuspecting Michael tells her everything.

We don’t know much about the socialite, and now we’re begging the question about how much of the stuff we know about her is even true.

First and foremost, is she even pregnant? It was this announcement that pushed Michael to tie the knot with her in the first place, and she was mighty shady about Ada joining her at the doctor’s appointment.

If she’s not, then it could’ve been a ruse to force Michael’s hand, and ever since she has been under his protection even when the family business got violent.

Is Michael about to have a serious wake-up call? (Picture: BBC)

Skirting on the outside of the gang, she’s been the perfect person to hide in plain sight to hear everything, and if Polly discovers she’s in league with Mosley then there’ll be hell to pay.

By the looks of it, whatever is discussed has not pleased Michael at all, and if he discovers his entire marriage is a sham, then it could be devastating for him.

But then again, he could be defending his wife (who remains as cold as sassy as ever as she leans back in her seat) from his hot-headed mother, but Polly’s instinct is rarely wrong.

Michael has become completely charmed by Gina (Picture: BBC)

Impulsively protective around the son that had been missing from her life for so long, she’s hardly going to let a blonde bimbo sweep in and ruin him…but stubbornness runs in the family and Michael might not give her any say before it’s too late.

In another new snap, Michael is seen brandishing a switchblade, which could only mean some blood is about to be shed as the drama reaches its peak.

Just what is Gina playing at?

Sunday’s episode wraps up Peaky Blinders for another season, and it looks as though one of the main characters could be killed off before the credits roll.

By all accounts, thanks to his lack of tact around his family and spoiled brat nature after losing the family cash in the stock market crash, Michael could very much be in the firing line.

Peaky Blinders continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.

Peaky Blinders finale spoilers: Oswald Mosley’s rally could spell disaster for the Shelby family

Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) looks unstoppable as he rallys the troops to start the British Union of Fascists on Peaky Blinders – and it could spell disaster for the Shelby family.

In first look pics of the final episode of season five sees Mosley’s smug face plastered over the walls of Birmingham, and at the rally teams of revellers and fascists are gathered in the helm of the far-right.

With the Billy Boys, led by Jimmy McCavern (Brian Gleeson), ready to pull rank at the rallys and act as security for the fascist leader, they all seem completely unaware of the trouble Tommy (Cillian Murphy) has planned for them.

Taking to the stand, we know that he has the power to grab the attention of a crowd – as was clearly shown in the chilling moments in the aftermath of the ballet last week.

He needs to be taken down in the Shelbys eyes and fast, and after he disrespected Lizzie (Natasha O’Keeffe), and potentially even killed Younger last week, Tommy has no time anymore to take him down from the inside.

Reverting to his old ways, he’s vowed to head back to some good, old fashioned violence.

Tommy is planning to assassinate Mosley – and with a sniper pal now free from an asylum ready to do just that for him, his plans have been put into action.

Arthur, Johnny Dogs (Packy Lee), Aberama Gold (Aidan Gillan) and the rest of the team in place, all they need to do is wait.

But Mosley has always been just that little bit ahead of our favourite razor-blade wielding gang, so surely he must be prepared for what the Birmingham gang have waiting for him.

We already know that Mosley doesn’t die until 1980 in the south of France, and we’re only in 1929 in the canon of the series – meaning the snivelling weasel has sixty glorious years of life to go.

So unless they’re about to alter history to suit the plot, there’s a very heavy chance that Mosley will survive the planned attack.

But if he does survive, then every single one of the Peakys are in serious trouble, as this man is clearly willing to do anything to get into the power he believes is his birth right.

Can one of the Peakys be about to die as a result of a failed assassination attempt?

Even worse is if he doesn’t survive, and he gets rewritten to those around him as a man who died for his cause and a martyr – causing an uprising all on its own.

Basically, Tommy has not thought this through, and the Peakys are about to pay for their rash decision in blood.

But whose could it be? Well, hate to say it, but we have some theories.

Anneka Rice ruled out of first Strictly Come Dancing group dance because of an injury caused by Anton Du Beke

Strictly Come Dancing’s Anneka Rice has revealed the real reason why she wasn’t involved in the first group dance of the series.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the presenter was missing from the celebrities and professionals’ debut performance two Sundays ago, but now the broadcaster has explained that her absence was due to Anton Du Beke throwing her in the air during training.

You know, as you do.

‘We were thrown into learning a complicated group dance,’ Anneka told Radio Times. ‘I kept shouting, “Hang on”, but everyone was onto the next bit. I was baffled.

‘Thankfully, Anton Du Beke spontaneously threw me up in the air and over his shoulders before I had time to say, “By the way, my shoulder is…”’

Anneka added: ‘And just like that, on the medic’s instructions, I was out of the group dance.

‘But I’m still here, in my favourite show, and I have Kevin – Kevin! I just keep forgetting that I now have to learn to dance…’

The presenter also revealed that she refused to take part in an unofficial group dance after being introduced to this year’s intake.

‘Strictly’s social media team then put on T Rex loudly and asked me to dance,’ she said. ‘I politely refused.’

Anneka has been partnered up with last year’s Strictly champion Kevin Clifton, who took home the glitterball with Stacey Dooley.

Last week, reports claimed that Kevin was ‘fuming’ to be paired up with Anneka, 60, but he soon hit back and quashed the ‘ridiculous’ stories.

Since then, the couple have shared behind-the-scenes videos of their training together.

Posting a clip of their first rehearsal to Instagram, Anneka wrote: ‘FIRST DAY AT DANCE SCHOOL! I LOVED IT! Kevin is a dream.’

‘You were brilliant,’ Kevin says in the clip, impressed. ‘You were amazing today.’

Could these two win the series?

Kelvin Fletcher had one hour to decide whether to replace Jamie Laing on Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing’s Kelvin Fletcher was given just one hour to decide whether he wanted to replace Jamie Laing on this year’s series.

The former Emmerdale star was called upon by bosses last minute to step in for the Made In Chelsea personality after an injury forced him to quit and had just 60 minutes to say yes or no.

‘I didn’t anticipate this at all,’ Kelvin told Radio Times of his sudden casting. ‘I suddenly received a call from my agent offering me the chance to do Strictly and I had to make the decision within an hour or two.

‘I was doing a different job towards the end of the year so I had to change my plans, but it was a no-brainer.’

He added to the publication: ‘I’d met the Strictly producers previously so they’d already had a taste of me and what I was about but I was straight in at the deep end.’

Gemma Collins claimed on Lorraine earlier this month that Kelvin had been signed up for Dancing On Ice 2020, but ditched the show in favour of Strictly.

Jamie was forced to pull out of this year’s competition after suffering an injury to his foot during the first group dance of the series.

Ahead of his departure in the launch show, he said: ‘As I did the first dance. As I kicked off, I felt a pop and a searing pain in my foot.

‘So I saw the physio and we have to wait for an MI and see what happens. There’s definitely swelling so there’s definitely tissue damage.’

Another clip showed Jamie sporting crutches and it was then where he announced his exit.

‘Hello everyone, I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on my foot,’ he said. ‘Now because of the injury it means I’m going to be in a boot for eight weeks recovering which means I won’t be a part of the show.’

Strictly Come Dancing has released official photos showcasing each couple, including newcomer Kelvin Fletcher with Oti Mabuse.

The 15 couples are set to hit the ballroom floor for the first live show this Saturday (21 September), after the initial launch paired up the celebrities with their professional dancer.

But is it possible to predict the winner based on professional imagery? Judging by stance pizazz, we’re gunning for Michelle Visage and Giovanni Pernice, Kelvin and Oti, Anton Du Beke and Emma Barton, Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell, and the incredible suit donned by David James.

Seriously, look at this dazzler.

This year’s series kicked off with drama after Jamie Laing was forced to quit the competition over a foot injury, which was addressed during the launch show.

In a clip describing how he injured his foot during the first group dance, Jamie said: ‘Hell everyone, I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on my foot.

‘Now because of the injury it means I’m going to be in a boot for eight weeks recovering which means I won’t be a part of the show.

‘I want to wish all my fellow competitors the best of luck. You guys are going to rock it without a doubt and I’ll be supporting from the sidelines with or without a boot. Just go out there and dance.’

Jamie was replaced by Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher, who is aiming to channel John Travolta when he hits the floor.

We always say ‘break a leg’ for good luck, so when Christie Brinkley broke her arm while rehearsing for Dancing With The Stars we knew it couldn’t be good.

Footage from Good Morning America shows the 65-year-old model in rehearsals with her mystery dance partner when she trips on his foot as they perform a move and then loses her footing.

Christie then falls down onto her hands and looks to be in incredible pain as she grabs her right wrist and screams.

‘I just broke my arm into a 1000 pieces requiring surgery with a metal plate and screws to hold my arm together,’ she told fans.

In the footage of the accident, her partner’s face is blurred because his identity has not yet been revealed.

The Vogue model has now undergone surgery to her wrist and arm and is recovering but will not be able to compete.

DWTS is set to debut on Monday night but thankfully Christie’s 21-year-old supermodel daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook will take her place because the show must go on!

‘I’m doing this mostly for my mom! I just want to make her happy and make her proud,’ Sailor told GMA on Monday.

‘She loved doing this, she loves dancing and she loves performing and getting hurt was her worst nightmare.’

However, Sailor admitted that competing on DWTS is something she is ‘so afraid of’ but is determined to confront her fears.

She said: ‘I think it will change me.’

Sailor now has just hours to learn her mother’s entire dance routine.

Luckily, her mother’s costumes are a perfect fit with no alterations required.

That is one very talented family!

On Monday morning ABC released a statement on the Sports Illustrated star’s departure: ‘While rehearsing for the premiere of Dancing with the Stars, Christie Brinkley suffered injuries which required surgery to her wrist and arm.

‘She is unable to continue her planned participation on the show. Keeping it all in the family, her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, a Sports Illustrated model, has chosen to quickly step in with hours to learn the entire routine and will compete in her mother’s place for the remainder of the season.

‘We wish Christie a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her in the audience, whenever possible, proudly supporting Sailor.’

Christie will now sit audience with her daughter Alexa Ray Joel as they watch Sailor try the Samba.

The star also made a statement on Monday while sharing an image of Sailor in her blue outfit that she wore on Sunday during rehearsal.

She wrote: ‘Sailor Breezes in to Save the Day! I just broke my arm into a 1000 pieces requiring surgery with a metal plate and screws to hold my arm together..I’m so sorry! Only something like that could stop me from continuing to dance with my wonderful coach…I was having a blast!

The future of Star Trek looks younger and brighter with the merge of CBS and Viacom reunifying the franchise.

As we celebrate 50 years of Star Trek the ViacomCBS merger means we ‘ain’t seen nothing yet’.

CBS chief creative officer David Nevins said the company will nurture the longtime franchises and take advantage of the seller’s market in streaming, according to Deadline.

‘We really believe in not only serving inside our own ecosystem but serving people outside,’ Nevins said at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Communications & Entertainment Conference in LA.

‘What we’re trying to do right now with Star Trek is build that brand. We want it to get younger and more relevant to people.’

CBS
‘Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.’ (Picture: CBS)

He referred to the merger as creating a ‘virtuous eco-system’ where ‘If you’re smart about it, you can create a lot of value.’

When Viacom, the parent company of Paramount Pictures, spun CBS off as an independent entity in 2005 there were major effects on the Star Trek franchise. Paramount maintained film rights while CBS maintained the television rights and licensing rights.

This split resulted in an end to Star Trek’s 18-year continuous run on television and here was no new Star Trek until 2009 when Paramount launched its movie reboot of the franchise from director/producer JJ Abrams.

The cult science fiction franchise has spanned a wide range of spin-offs over the years from games to figurines, novels, toys, comics. and even a themed attraction in Las Vegas.

The Star Trek franchise has an epic history. (Picture: Wikipedia)

While season two of Star Trek: Discovery (the prequel to the original series), a CBS/Netflix drama, finished in April this year show bosses confirmed that episodes from season three won’t hit screens until ‘later’ in 2020.

The show has run into a bit of trouble with one of its writers, Walter Mosley, resigning after he was reported to HR for allegedly using the n-word in the writers’ room.

Despite the wait, Trekkies were treated to some exciting announcements with bosses confirming at Comic Con in July that David Ajala had been cast as the newest member of the Discovery fleet taking on the role of Cleveland Book.

The first trailer for spin-off show Picard starring Patrick Stewart was shown at Comic Con, with the new scenes revealing that Brent Spiner as Data, Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh the Borg and Jonathan Frakes as Riker will all be returning for the new series due in early 2020.

Additionally, two seasons have been ordered of an animated, adult comedy series created by the Rick and Morty writer Mike McMahan, titled Lower Decks, to follow the support crew of ‘one of Starfleet’s least important ships.’

There will also be a new animated children’s series for mini Trekkies on Nickelodeon as a joint-venture with CBS.

While we wait for the next Star Trek instalment to drop we give our best Vulcan Salute to this Star Trek: The Next Generation and Friends mash up.

The A Little Late With Lilly Singh talk show premiere episode sneak peek was everything

A Little Late With Lilly Singh, a new talk show on NBC, had an early episode sneak peek on YouTube and fans can’t wait for more.

While the half-hour American premiere streamed at 10pm EST, ahead of its TV debut at 10:35pm EST, fans around the world stayed up to watch the ‘bisexual woman of colour’ do her thing.’

‘Live in India is at 7.15am and I’m not sleeping tonight. Love you Lil’, one fan wrote.

Another wrote: ‘I can’t wait to watch history being made. lil Canadian brown girl in me is screaming for her.’

The Canadian comedian, who shot to fame on YouTube as IISuperwomanII, opened her show with a hilarious skit in which a room of all-male all-white TV executives try to suggest the style and substance of her first episode.

Lilly baulks at the suggestion of wearing a grey or brown suit for her talk show premiere. (Picture: YouTube)

‘I was thinking I could actually share my perspective,’ she says. ‘Especially being a woman and all.’

A man then tells her he’s ‘not sure people will relate to that,’ to which Lilly responds ‘See I’m not sure I related to 10 seasons of Friends.’

Brutal.

‘Guys, I just wanna be myself!’ she says before bursting into a killer rap.

She sings: ‘This used to be a boys club but I’m knocking down the doors.’

‘Hello my name is Lilly and I ain’t a white man.’ (Picture: YouTube)
‘This is the new standard. Take notes Hollywood.’ (Picture: YouTube)

In the song Lilly takes aim at ‘only Jimmys in the spotlight’, sexist air conditioning thermostats, paid parental leave, breastfeeding and reproductive choice.

She also raps about how her writers room ‘looks like a mini United Nations’.

‘More than 50 per cent women and people of all nations.’

Lilly takes many moments in the first episode to express her gratitude to her audience and viewers watching at home, as well as to thank her role models – including comedian and actress Mindy Kaling who appears as her first guest.

Lilly and Mindy remark it’s like a ‘family reunion. (Picture: YouTube)

Mindy – who has just starred in Late Night, a comedy film about a late-night talk show – tells Lilly ‘it’s thrilling’ to have representation like her on screen and she wishes that growing up she’d seen someone like her on TV.

‘I can’t wait for my daughter to watch the show, twenty years from now when you’re still doing it and wishing you didn’t have to,’ she said.

Hours before the show streamed live, Lilly posted a photo of herself with Mindy to Instagram and captioned it: ‘Melanin explosion’.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B2fdLCzHcAO/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

The premiere sneak peek also featured comedian and actor Rainn Wilson, who congratulated Lilly and presented her with the comical gift of a white noise machine.

The machine, a twist on the actual mechanical device, emits sounds like ‘the sound of a homemade craft beer being poured into a pre-chilled imported beer stein’ and ‘the sound of a white girl getting vacation braids the minute she lands in Saint Thomas’.

They also make a dig at racial disparities in policing, to which Lilly calls the sound of a siren being soothing ‘the whitest sound of all.’

In 2017 the actress, was ranked tenth on the Forbes list of the world’s highest paid YouTube stars, earning a reported $10.5 million.

Downton Abbey is on Airbnb

Downton Abbey fans could now live their best Upstairs life as a bedroom at Highclere Castle is up for grabs.

For one night only Airbnb is letting out a luxurious room at the lavish Hampshire estate, with two people being allowed to stay over at the home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon in November.

It’s not yet been confirmed how much lucky winning couple will be charged for the experience, but we believe it’d be totally worth it regardless.

Pictures show the guest boudoir is decked out with red damask wallpaper and all the vintage furniture one should expect, including a grand fireplace and a dressing table.

Another shot displays the elegant dining room, where lodgers can eat among a number of spectacular paintings.

Just remember, work from the outside in when picking up that silver cutlery!

Downton Abbey fans have had a treat this week after the new film based on the hugely popular ITV series opened in cinemas.

Highclere Castle is a regular setting for cinematic scenes and has previously been seen in films such as Eyes Wide Shut and the TV series Jeeves and Wooster.

The gorgeous estate was built by Sir Charles Barry in 1842, but people have been living on its grounds for around 1,300 years.

Rather than setting up a museum, organisers choose to preserve the venue as a family home that visitors can explore.

Unsurprisingly, there has been an influx of interest with fans desperate to see where Downton Abbey was shot.

Although a series of events and guided tours have been organised since filming finished, the castle itself is closed to the public until next July.

A number of Christmas events will also take place there and private tours can also be arranged by appointment.

Stranger Things: What do the parallels between Will and Billy mean ahead of season 4?

Strange indeed. (Picture: Netflix)

As fans wait eagerly for season four of Strangers Things they have found some interesting parallels in the show between Billy Hargrove and Will Byers.

The connections drawn between the two characters, played by Dacre Montgomery and Noah Schnapp respectively, comes after a fan theory that Will accidentally created the Upside Down.

Reddit user Camilla2244 posted of the parallels: ‘Both are called William I assume (Will and Billy). Both had awful father figures. However, one grew up with his loving mother (Winona Ryder) and the other grew up with an abusive father, and they turned out very differently.’

‘I have this theory that if Billy would have survived maybe he could have somehow bonded with Will or something,’ they wrote.

Spooky. (Picture: YouTube)

Another fan responded to the theory by simply writing: ‘Billiam’.

In season three of the hit science fiction horror series we see the kids team up to tackle even bigger monsters and Russian spies.

Sadly just as Billy, whose character arc to villainy climaxes in the latest season, redeems himself he is killed by the monster.

Will, and the rest of the main characters survive, bar Jim Hopper (David Harbour), who gets caught up in an explosion.

But a final cliffhanger has left open the possibility that Eleven’s dad actually survived, and fans have leapt onto this with their own theories.

Perhaps even more important than the potential return of Hopper in the next season is the return of Steve’s famous hair.

Stranger Things fans have been mourning actor Joe Keery’s new bowl cut and longing for his luscious locks.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Oti Mabuse devastated after Jamie Laing injury amid fear she’d been axed

Strictly Come Dancing was plagued with its biggest drama before the 2019 series had even begun as Jamie Laing was forced to quit after he was struck down with an injury during the very first group dance.

It was devastating. Not only was the Made In Chelsea star out of the competition, it looked like Oti Mabuse, arguably the most popular of the professional dancers as judge in another Saturday night primetime spectacle The Greatest Dancer, would have to join Gorka Marquez on the Strictly sub bench.

Thankfully, Tess Daly confirmed to Metro.co.uk a replacement was on stand by – and that replacement was Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher. But that only softens the blow that poor Jamie won’t be joining the likes of Catherine Tyldesley and Michelle Visage on the dancefloor come Saturday night.

‘I was devastated when Jamie hurt himself and I had a long, tearful conversation with him,’ Oti admitted to Radio Times.

‘For a while I thought I had no partner and I was in bed all day thinking, “I can’t do the show!” In moments like that you realise how much you love something. I was feeling really bad, but one of the producers said, “We’ll see what we can do.”’

But there was no way Strictly was going ahead without Oti. Not only is she the favourite among fans, her sister Motsi Mabuse is stepping up as judge for the first time after replacing Dame Darcey Bussell. Fans are no doubt frothing for the sibling rivalry – even if they’ve both denied there will be any.

The phone call was imminent.

‘When they told me about Kelvin, I cried – and it turns out he’s incredible,’ she enthused.

Kelvin has since admitted he’s been ‘haunted’ by Jamie’s injury, giving him a step up into the competition by default. However, it’s believed the reality star will be dusting off his dancing shows ready to return in 2020.

‘After such a harrowing end to his Strictly debut this must have been the perfect tonic for Jamie…

knowing he will be back in the ballroom next year,’ an insider told The Sun. ‘It was a lovely touch by the powers that be who realised just how devastated he was.’

Gary Lineker has offered to take a pay cut as he negotiates a new contract with the BBC.

On a salary of £1.75million, The Match Of The Day star is the BBC’s highest-earner.

The presenter is currently in the process of hashing out a new contract and is ‘volunteering’ to take a pay cut.

The Mirror quotes him saying: ‘I love my job at the BBC and I enjoy doing it.

‘I’m currently negotiating a new contract with them and I’m volunteering to take less.’

The 58-year-old added that he felt it was ‘the right thing to do’.

In the BBC’s annual report, released in July this year, it was revealed that some of Gary’s male co-stars have had a significant pay cut.

It showed BBC Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine and Mastermind star John Humphrys was down £110,000.

BBC Radio 5 Live star Nicky Campbell has also lost out on £70,000, while his fellow radio presenter Steve Wright is down £85,000.

Meanwhile Strictly Come Dancing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are the broadcaster’s top female earners with £370,000.

Earlier this year it was announced that free TV licences for over 75s will be scrapped.

The BBC had previously planned to provide the funding to maintain free licence fees for all over 75’s in 2020.

However, following a review, the free licence fees for the elderly will now be restricted to those receiving pension credit.

Only around 1.2 million households will now be eligible for the free TV licence, with around 3.7 million pensioners expected to lose out.

At the time, Director-General at the BBC Tony Hall said the BBC had ‘turned the corner’ on gender pay.

He added: ‘The task is not complete, we are not complacent, but we are well on our way.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Linker’s camp for comment.

Lord Sugar has ended his business association with 2016 The Apprentice winner Alana Spencer ahead of the upcoming series.

The tycoon and the entrepreneur have now parted ways after three years of involvement with Spencer’s cake brand, Ridiculously Rich.

According to The Sun a TV insider said: ‘Alana has now bought back all of Lord Sugar’s shares in Ridiculously Rich and she is now the sole owner and director of the firm.

‘The luxury, hand-made cake company now supports almost 50 franchisees across the country.’

Spencer won the show in 2016. (Picture: Getty)

But the separation has been reportedly amicable.

Lord Sugar — who pumped £250,000 into the business — said he will ‘follow Alana’s progress with much affection.’

Meanwhile, Spencer said: ‘The knowledge and advice gained from Lord Sugar and his team in the early stages of the business has been invaluable.’

But it’s not the first famous business break up from the show.

2015 winner Joseph Valente also flew solo with his plumbing business after two years with Lord Sugar, with no hard feelings.

A new line up of contestants are about to be unveiled for the upcoming series due to air in October and no doubt Lord Sugar will be looking for a new business to invest in.

Changes for the news series include a new host.

Great British Bake Off comedian Tom Allen will replace Rhod Gilbert – who is leaving after three years at the helm to focus on his live tour, according to Radio Times.

Judging from the savage trailer featuring Fyre Festival, season 11 of The Apprentice should be incredible.

And we are totally fired up.

Injured Christie Brinkley proud as daughter Sailor takes her place on Dancing With The Stars after star broke her arm

Christie Brinkley is one proud mama after her daughter Sailor made her Dancing With The Stars debut with professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy just days after Christie was forced to drop out.

Christie, 65, quit the show after breaking her arm during rehearsals.

In the launch episode of season 28, Sailor, 21, took to the floor to dance a foxtrot to Billy Joel classic Uptown Girl, the video for which Christie starred in alongside then-husband Joel.

Sailor, who only had three days to prepare, said ahead of her performance that she wanted to ‘pay homage to my mom’.

On the night she looked stunning in a white floor-length gown just like the one that was designed for Christie.

When Sailor’s performance ended she and Christie shared a hug before she joined her daughter on the dancefloor, wearing a cast on her arm.

She said: ‘I am so proud of her. I am so proud of you, Sailor.’

Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli awarded her 18 points out of 30, which isn’t bad for someone who learnt to ballroom dance in less than a week.

Christie described her painful fall, which left her needing surgery and ‘a metal plate and screws to hold my arm together’.

The model told People of the accident: ‘There’s a little bone at the thumb that usually posts one way. Mine was in the opposite direction.

‘Then there was bone, just it, it was shattered into a thousand little pieces, just a million of little pieces.’

Season 28 of Dancing With The Stars, America’s answer to Strictly Come Dancing, also features Lauren Alaina, Ally Brooke, Hannah Brown, Karamo Brown, Kate Flannery, Ray Lewis, Kel Mitchell, Lamar Odom, Sean Spicer, James Van Der Beek and Mary Wilson.

Dancing With The Stars airs Mondays on ABC in the US.

Michelle Visage pregnant Strictly

Michelle Visage has joked about hoping to get pregnant by her dance partner Giovanni Pernice on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Ru Paul’s Drag Race judge says being American makes her an ‘underdog’ in the competition but hopes she will get lots love regardless.

‘A lot of people are like, “Who is that?”, so we’re going to have to make them fall in love with me somehow,’ she told Radio Times.

But gaining a new fan base isn’t all the TV host is hoping for.

‘I’m hoping to get pregnant. Do you think that could happen?’ Michelle said in the interview.

She quickly added that she was ‘Just kidding!’

Either way, Michelle said she is ready to dance her best and to show her ‘daughters that you’re never too old to learn something new’.

Awww.

Michelle is up against some stiff competition including Comedian Chris Ramsey, ex-footballer David James and EastEnders star Emma Barton, among the 15 strong line-up.

But she isn’t afraid of a challenge: ‘As a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, I know what’s coming. Craig Revel Horwood doesn’t bother me – I’m the female version of him.’

The 50-year-old has been hard at work and was seen training with Pernice for their first dance, which will reportedly be the Cha Cha.

‘I have some girl group dance experience,’ she said. ‘In the 1980s I was in a group called Seduction and we did moves a bit like the Supremes.

‘I’m rhythmic because I’m a singer, and that’s a good place to start – but I have zero dance background.’

Rob Schneider has blamed ‘cultural unforgiveness’ for Shane Gillis being sacked from Saturday Night Live.

The comedian was dropped from the sketch show after racist jokes he made resurfaced on social media.

Actor Schneider, known for such films as You Don’t Mess With The Zohan and The Hot Chick, came to Shane’s defence apologising to him for his ‘misfortune’.

He tweeted: ‘Dear @Shanemgillis As a former SNL cast member I am sorry that you had the misfortune of being a cast member during this era of cultural unforgiveness where comedic misfires are subject to the intolerable inquisition of those who never risked bombing on stage themselves.’

Saturday Night Live confirmed they would not be hiring Gillis in a statement, which said: ‘After talking with Shane Gillis, we have decided that he will not be joining SNL.

‘We want SNL to have a variety of voices and points of view within the show, and we hired Shane on the strength of his talent as comedian and his impressive audition for SNL.

‘We were not aware of his prior remarks that have surfaced over the past few days.’

They continued: ‘The language he used is offensive, hurtful and unacceptable. We are sorry that we did not see these clips earlier, and that our vetting process was not up to our standard.’

Gillis released his own statement addressing his dismissal: ‘It feels ridiculous for comedians to be making serious public statements but here we are.

‘I’m a comedian who was funny enough to get on SNL. That can’t be taken away.

‘Of course I wanted an opportunity to prove myself at SNL, but I understand it would be too much of a distraction. I respect the decision they made.’

He added: ‘I’m honestly grateful for the opportunity. I was always a Mad TV guy anyway.’

After his signing to the US sketch show was announced, journalist Seth Simons unearthed an old clip of Shane and Matt McCusker speaking on their podcast, called Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast.

In an episode, released in 2018, he made the comment: ‘Chinatown’s f*****g nuts.’

Co-host Matt said: ‘I wonder how that started, they just built one f****d-up looking building and everyone was like, “Well no one’s said anything.”’

Shane added: ‘Let the f*****g ch**ks live there.’

According to Vulture, in a further episode they discuss ‘white f**got comics’.

He previously described the jokes as ‘bad misses’.

Susanna Reid can ‘smell the fumes’ from Bobby Davro as he turns up ‘still drunk’ to interview after hotel crawl

Bobby Davro struggled through a very early interview on Good Morning Britain today after an hour’s sleep.

Bobby, 61, appeared on the programme with Jim Davidson, 64, after what they described as a ‘hotel crawl’ that ended at Bobby’s place at 3am.

Sitting with hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan, he did his best to join in with talking about the Care After Combat Autumn Ball.

The Care After Combat ball will raise money to support Care After Combat, of which Jim is a co-founder.

The charity supports veterans with alcohol and substance problems and assists the ‘well-being of Veterans and their family’.

After Jim explained he was the ‘unpaid Chief Executive’ of Care After Combat, Bobby explained he was the ‘dogsbody’ of the operation.

Laughing he added: ‘I’m drunk, basically, from last night still. I’m struggling a little bit I’ve gotta be honest with you.’

When Piers Morgan asked where they went the night before, Bobby said: ‘I can’t remember. I was with him.’

Jim helpfully stepped in and joked: ‘We started off at the Carlton Club which is the Conservative club, which was empty of course, because it’s all boarded up and we didn’t know what to do.

‘So we went on a hotel crawl and ended up at his place.

‘He was telling jokes to Japanese visitors who were looking at him rather strangely.’

Later on in the interview, Susanna became concerned that Piers – who was suffering from a knee infection – was getting ‘respiratory’ problems and might not be able to present the show tomorrow.

Asking Jim and Bobby if either of them were able to step in, Jim straightaway declined.

Susanna said: ‘Actually if you’re going to carry on drinking until 3 o’clock in the morning then it’s probably not a good idea to then roll up at work at four.’

Jim pointed out that Bobby was up until four, Piers asked: ‘You’ve basically had three hours sleep haven’t you?’

Bobby replied: ‘No, not really. About an hour. We had a laugh though, didn’t we?’

Thanking them from coming on the show, Susanna said: ‘I feel drunk from the fumes.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.

Blue Ivy steals the show in Beyonce’s Making The Gift documentary and we’re absolutely not worthy

Beyonce has blessed us all with an intimate look at her family life, and we are absolutely not worthy.

The 38-year-old released a documentary on what went on behind the scenes of her Lion King album, The Gift, giving us a glimpse at her infamously private family.

In the ABC show – appropriately titled Making The Gift – cameras followed the Single Ladies singer as she jetted off to Africa, accompanied by husband Jay-Z and children Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir Carter.

‘Visiting countries in Africa, it’s always an emotional experience for me,’ the mum-of-three explained. ‘It feels like I’m making peace with a part of me that’s yearning for my ancestral connection.

‘I was blessed to be able to relive some of the experiences that I’ve been very fortunate to have over the years with my entire family.’

Bey also shed a light on her vision of motherhood, explaining how proud she is of Blue’s confidence – especially since the seven-year-old could be seen recording her part in stand-out track, Brown Skin Girl.

‘When I see fathers singing Brown Skin Girl to their daughters, to know that my daughter can have the same opportunities and feel confident and feel like she doesn’t have to take her braids down and she can comb her afro out and she can glisten in her brown skin…,’ Queen Bey added.

‘That is why I make music.

‘When you’re a mother, there’s a love that you experience with your kids that’s deeper than anything you can imagine. The love is beyond Earth and beyond time and space, and it’s a connection that will be constant.’

And of course Blue Ivy steals the whole damn show, dancing to her mum’s music and generally living her best life.

Right on cue, fans flocked to social media to stan the youngster, with her name quickly trending on Twitter alongside her mum’s.

‘Blue Ivy is coming for Beyoncé. Period,’ one commented.

‘I think I stan Blue Ivy more than Beyoncé. What a queen,’ another said.

While a fan joked: ‘All I want in this life is to be Blue Ivy.’

‘BLUE IVY CARTER I ABSOLUTELY STAN YOU SIS,’ a Twitter user screamed.

Us too, hun. Us too.

Is it okay to be jealous of a seven-year-old?
