The Circle’s Tim was feeling a little blue after accidentally offending ‘Judy’ during a game of ‘Are They Guilty Of…?’

The game had them guess whether a contestant has partook in lewd and inappropriate acts.

One particular question was about ‘Judy’ – who is really Richard Madeley – and whether she dated two guys at once before.

Only Tim voted guilty, which let Tim saying: ‘Oh no no no no!’ before screaming and burying his head in the pillows.

‘Oh god! Oh god! I want to hang my head out of the window and just scream! No!’

Don’t you worry, Tim.

‘Judy’ commented: ‘Not guilty! Never been there, done that! Not right and too complicated anyway! Not saying I haven’t been tempted though! But I think it’s really important to have principles.’

Woody

Later on in the afternoon, Tim began a chat with Woody, hoping the 18-year-old could lift his spirits.

He said: ‘Oh Woody, I’ve had a terrible afternoon. This lady has really got to me, and I felt all exposed in the last question of the game.’

Woody, being the amazing kid he is, replied: ‘It’s alright Tim, it was only a game. I think people found your answer quite funny. I’ve noticed a few people who have taken issue or made jokes about Judy, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.’

Tim felt ‘a bit blue’ and needed some ‘Woody uplift’.

‘By the way, please tell me what is the expression WTF? Can I use it in a hashtag? I was thinking #WTFBaeForever,’ the politician asked.

Thankfully, Woody explained what it meant but we just hope Tim never changes.

The Circle continues weeknights at 10pm on Channel 4.

The Circle Recap: Tim seeks emotional support from Woody and Georgina now ranks number one

Tonight’s episode of The Circle had Ella get to know the contestants a little more before they all had to rank each other.

Players found it harder this time round to keep it together around ‘Judy’ – who is really Richard Madeley – when she has been acting so insufferable.

The rankings and snobby behaviour just add to the obstacles and plots the players must go through to win the £100,000 prize pot.

Ella started off the episode on a date with Jay but that was a bit ‘basic’ for her.

Ella calls ‘Judy’ a ‘boujee b***h’

Ella wastes no time in calling Judy a ‘boujee b***h’ after two minutes of talking to her during tonight’s episode of The Circle.

The new girl had just finished her date with Jay when she got the opportunity to speak to the girls chat on her first morning there.

Asking Ella how her first night was, ‘Judy’ said: ‘Hey Ella. Welcome, how did you sleep? Aren’t the sheets awful? Reckon they got them at a pound shop? I wish I brought my own,’ along with a sad face.

The girls didn’t appreciate ‘Judy’s’ comment, especially after last night’s debacle with Tim.

‘Lol Judy is a boujee b***h, I rate it,’ Ella said, laughing at the comment.

Georgina, on the other hand, said: ‘Wow! JUDY! I think the sheets are lovely, and that’s really bloody rude actually.’

If only they knew Richard was doing this on purpose in order to get blocked so someone can get immunity.

He’s nice, really.

Tim seeks Woody for emotional support

Tim began a chat with Woody, hoping the 18-year-old could lift his spirits, after offending pretend Judy during a game of ‘Are They Guilty Of…’.

The game had contestants answer whether they thought ‘Judy’ was guilty of dating two men at once to which Tim said she was.

He said to Woody: ‘Oh Woody, I’ve had a terrible afternoon.

It didn’t take long before Tim started laughing again, but that sad face of his will be the death of us.

Georgina gets ranked number one

She deserved it (Picture: Channel 4)

The contestant had the opportunity to rank the other players according to how much they like each other.

Ella, being the new girl, was exempt from the ratings which made life a bit easier.

As we all expected, ‘Judy’ ranked last thanks to Richard’s skills in annoying his fellow contestants.

Seeing the news, Tim whispered: ‘There is a God.’

‘Jay’ (Katie) got 6th much to her surprise and Georgina screamed as she got first.

‘Oh my god I’m first, Oh my god!’ she said as she jumped around the room.

Meanwhile, our nation’s favourite Tim got second, which is exactly what he deserves because Tim isn’t capable of doing anything wrong.

Ella calls ‘Jay’ basic

The Circle's Ella
That is the face of a woman who is not impressed (Picture: Channel 4)

The two – Ella and ‘Jay’ – went on a virtual date where they both had champagne in separate rooms as they texted each other.

‘Jay’ wrote: ‘So Ella, tell me about you #LetsGetToKnowEachOther.’

It’s no surprise that the new contestant wasn’t a big fan of the super long hashtag, but what can you do.

‘Babe, be good to know your age. This is a sick date, have you opened your prosecco?’ Jay asked.

Ella was not impressed.

She said: ‘That… this is pretty basic shit, isn’t it?’ to no one in particular.

Ouch, Ella, give the ‘boy’ a chance.

By that point she gave up on the entire date.

The Circle continues Wednesday at 10pm on Channel 4.

Strictly Come Dancing star James Cracknell denies ‘crying’ after negative feedback from judges

Strictly Come Dancing star James Cracknell has denied crying after getting less than glowing feedback from the judges in the first week.

James, who was partnered with Luba Mushtuk on the show, performed a tango to Gold by Spandau Ballet in week one.

The criticism from judges Motsi Mabuse,Shirley Ballas, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood was pretty fierce as they slated his ‘lethargic’ performance.

An unimpressed Craig told him: ‘Your posture is your main concern in this dance. You’re meant to be performing a V-shape but you were hunched over Luba.

‘On top of that, your bottom was sticking out. You need to tuck that baby in.

‘It lacked drive, it lacked any sharp staccato moves. You need to put as much energy as you do in rowing into your body in this. It was very lethargic I’m afraid.’

James Cracknell
His tango with Luba Mushtuk was called ‘lethargic’ (Picture: BBC)

James and Luba headed up the stairs to speak to presenter Claudia Winkleman, and the rower was seen wiping his eyes on his way up.

Claudia asked him: ‘Are you alright?’

The sportsman has now insisted that he wasn’t crying after getting the negative comments.

He told Radio Times: ‘After my first live dance, it wasn’t a medal I was in line for, but the wooden spoon.

‘I’ve been asked if it was tears I was wiping, having scored a mighty 11 out of 40, but no, it was just sweat – had they been tears, they would have been for Luba, who choreographed the routine.’

The 47-year-old paid tribute to Luba for trying to teach him to dance after they crashed out in the first week.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B3Ak9Lhlyks/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=dlfix

On Instagram he said: ‘I want to thank you @LubaMushtuk for being the most amazing partner/teacher/choreographer sadly you’re not a miracle worker.

‘I’m no dancer (& knew it), I’ve always avoided things I know I’d be bad at, but I wanted that to stop.

‘I had fun & learned a lot about myself thanks Luba❤️ @bbcstrictly & the class of 2019, keep kicking ass gang!’

His comments came after he denied reports he launched into a ‘backstage rant’ after being voted off.

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One.

Rocketman star Taron Edgerton gives Queer Eye star Karamo Brown an Elton John pep talk on Dancing With The Stars

Taron Egerton popped up on Dancing With The Stars to give some friendly advice to Queer Eye star Karamo Brown.

In the latest episode the actor made a special guest appearance in a video before Karamo performed a jive with his professional partner Jenna Johnson.

The pair would be performing to the track I’m Still Standing by Elton John, so who better to give him some tips than the guy who has played Elton on the big screen?

Taron, who starred in the biopic Rocketman, spoke to Karamo via a video message and wished him ‘good luck’.

The 29-year-old explained that becoming Elton meant ‘being outrageous, having no inhibitions and having the time of your life.’

Karamo revealed that I’m Still Standing was close to home for him after ‘hardship’ in his life.

‘Elton John means a lot to me, because he’s a gay man that lived his life proud and out, and that’s what I do,’ he said.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B3DkhCIBqPC/

‘The song ‘I’m Still Standing’ is my life story. There’s been a lot of hardships but I keep marching towards a better day.’

While the Queer Eye star brought the fun to his routine, judge Len Goodman noted that there were errors in his performance.

He said: ‘Going wrong is a bit like getting a hickey. Everyone can notice it, as much as you try to cover it up, it’s there.’

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba also added that there were ‘a lot of mistakes’ but enjoyed his energy.

The pair only managed to score 16 points with just a score of five from Len and Carrie Ann.

The episode saw NFL star Ray Lewis and his partner Cheryl Burke withdraw from the competition, which meant that everyone was safe from elimination this week.

The stars in the bottom two were Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson, and Lamar Odom and Peta Murgatroyd.

The Disappearance of Susan Cox Powell reveals never-before-seen home footage and family interviews

Susan Cox Powell’s disappearance still remains unsolved (Picture: Oxygen)

Susan Cox Powell’s mysterious disappearance is the focus of Sky Crime’s latest true crime documentary, and features never-before-seen footage and interviews with the family.

The Disappearance of Susan Cox Powell is a two-part documentary taking a look at the circumstances around her disappearance from her Utah home in 2009.

Susan’s still technically listed as a missing person despite suspicion that she was murdered by her husband, Josh Powell, or his family members.

The 28-year-old mother of two vanished from her home on 7 December 2009 after last being seen at church services with her two sons the day before.

Josh became the prime suspect for her disappearance after claiming to have taken the boys on a camping trip early in the morning despite the trip meaning he didn’t turn up for work.

His behaviour after her disappearance, including a lack of concern about her welfare and the fact he liquated her retirement accounts and cancelled her weekly chiropractic sessions aroused suspicion.

He had also spoken to co-workers about how to hide a body in an abandoned mine shaft in the Utah desert, and his eldest child told investigators his mother had also joined them on the camping trip but never returned.

 Susan Cox Powell
Susan’s husband, Josh Powell, was the prime suspect in her disappearance (Picture: Oxygen)

Evidence also later emerged that Susan’s stepfather, Steven Powell, was obsessed with Susan, spying on her in the bathroom and taking videos of her, sometimes without her knowledge, some of which will be revealed in the documentary.

He even confessed his feelings for her, something she rebutted and the exchange was accidentally picked up by the microphone on his video recorder.

Steven was later sent to prison for seven years for voyeurism and possession of child pornography after the materials were found in his possession.

A secret will was also found, in which Susan had stated: ‘I want it documented that there is extreme turmoil in our marriage’ and ‘If I die, it may not be an accident, even if it looks like one.’

Alina Powell
Josh Powell’s sister Alina also speaks out for the first time in the documentary (Picture: Oxygen)

Further tragedy was to befall the family as Josh killed himself and both of their sons in 2012 by blowing up their house when the kids were with him on what was supposed to be a supervised visit after custody was given to Susan’s parents.

Josh’s brother Michael, who was also suspected of aiding Josh with the murder or removal of Susan’s body, also died by suicide a year later, in 2013.

The case was closed in 2013, and what happened to Susan still remains a mystery, despite it being assumed she was killed by her husband.

The Disappearance of Susan Cox Powell will also see Josh’s sister, Alina, speak out for the first time on camera after she and her mother, Terrica, campaigned to have Susan declared legally dead in order to collect her life insurance, something which the Cox family have managed to block.

The Disappearance of Susan Cox Powell is on Sky Crime and NOW TV in October.

Jack Whitehall mortified as randy couple are kicked out of gig for having sex

Jack and his dad got more of a reaction for their show than expected (Picture: Getty/Netflix)

Jack Whitehall was left horrified after discovering that a couple had been caught having sex in the middle of one of his shows.

The posh comedian is hardly one to get embarrassed easily (even taking his middle class dad Michael to naked yoga for his Netflix show) but even he can’t abide someone sullying the good name of London Palladium!

Speaking about the incident on Twitter, he said: ‘OH MY GOD. I have just been informed that during the recording of my Christmas show with my father at The London Palladium a couple were kicked out of the theatre for having sex during the show..

‘Who gets horny watching my dad tell anecdotes about Elaine Stritch!?’

(For those who don’t get that reference, Elaine Stritch was an actress and singer who passed away in 2014 aged 89.)

Jack and Michael have become quite the double act over recent years, with Michael’s prim and proper background the ultimate source for entertainment.

Despite Jack’s best attempts to bring him into the modern world, Michael’s just not budging any time soon.

However, recently both have been told to act ‘more relatable’ and stop talking about their posh lifestyle in order to appeal to more people.

Speaking at the BFI Southbank with Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski, Jack revealed: ‘I’ve been told I need to look more relatable, so I now need to lie and pretend I fly on Ryanair, and not boujee airlines.’

‘No caviar references?’ Antoni joked back. ‘You know when the caviar’s not super fresh? It’s so annoying.’

Man, how the other half live.

Lucifer’s Trixie returns to set to film season 5 with Tom Ellis and now we feel seriously old

$

Team Lucifer is back filming season 5 and behind-the-scenes clips from the gang reveal that Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) is back causing trouble – and seriously, we feel super old.

Trixie, the loveable daughter of Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) has managed to even win over demons with her no-nonsense character.

So we’re more than happy to see Trixie back in action for the fifth and final season, and judging by Aimee Garcia (who plays Ella Lopez) Instagram, she’s become a fashionista now as well.

Shooting for her Insta stories, Aimee shot Scarlett arriving at her trailer and beamed: ‘Got a little visit from this nugget! She’s finally here, it’s our first day together!’ before checking out her multi-coloured trainers (which we’re going to need by the way).

Trixie - Lucifer season 1
Scarlett was only six when she first appeared as Trixie (Picture: Fox)

Scarlett was later seen playing around with Lucifer himself (Tom Ellis), dancing around the location lot and performing jazz hands.

Seriously, so many levels of adorable, we can’t handle it.

But seeing as Scarlett was only six years old when she first appeared on the show, the 11-year-old has clearly got more sassy with age, and it’s definitely making us feel our age a little bit.

Trixie - Lucifer season 5 behind the scenes
The team were happy to see the feisty 11-year-old back in action (Picture: Netflix)

How has so much time passed from the epic season one already?

Lucifer is currently in production for its fifth and final season, which was extended and split into two parts after fans demanded a season six.

The team behind the show have been keeping secrets of what’s to come close to their chest, but showrunner Ildy Modrovich and the writing team have dropped tidbits including some episode titles to keep us on our toes.

So far, we’ve got Really Sad Devil Guy, Lucifer! Lucifer! Lucifer!, and Diablo! As the first three episodes of the upcoming season, which we’re keeping all our fingers crossed will finally see Lucifer and his one true love Decker get together.

But first there’s that teeny little problem of Lucifer heading back to Hell to rule after the demons rebelled against him and rose to earth.

Rather than risk the lives of the ones he loved by remaining in Los Angeles, Lucifer chose to say goodbye – but we have a feeling that’s easier said than done.

Lucifer seasons 1-3 is on Amazon Prime video, and season 4 is on Netflix.

Susanna Reid lashes out at guest for ‘interrupting’ in tense gun control live TV debate

Susanna Reid hit out at a guest on Good Morning Britain for ‘interrupting’ her during a tense debate about guns and gun control in the US on Tuesday’s episode.

Susanna and co-host Piers Morgan spoke to ex police officer Joe Deedon who now works as a safety consultant.

In his training sessions he teaches young children as young as 10 how to protect themselves in the event of a school shooting, including one option that involves tackling the attacker to the ground and restraining them.

Susanna said the idea of children having this training ‘frightened the life’ out of her as she passionately posed her question to Joe, who repeatedly attempted to respond to her.

She said: ‘I cannot understand how it doesn’t frighten the life out a 10 year old child , to think that they are sitting in class, and they have to have on their mind the possibility that someone might come into their school, armed to the teeth in order to kill them and they might have to take that individual down.

‘They’re children they shouldn’t have to think about this.’

Susanna Reid
Susanna got into it with a guest during a heated debate (Picture: ITV)

Joe replied: ‘Susanna does your microphone work in your ear? Does your earpiece work?’

The irritated presenter replied: ‘Yes but normally when we ask a question the guest allows us to ask the question before they answer it.

‘You were asking if I heard you, and I heard all of your interruptions yes. Now you can go ahead an answer.’

Meanwhile Piers questioned why America hadn’t done more to ‘remove some of the weapons of war from the hands of deranged young teenagers’.

Joe argued: ‘The option we give the kids is not only to hide but to help their staff member if they choose to fight back but also to evacuate. We’re trying to evolve and not just give them one option.

Piers later fired back: ‘The problem is guns. It’s the guns that are the problem.

‘I know you want 100 guns, I don’t want you to have 100 guns. You seem a nice guy but most mass shooters don’t seem to give any sign that they are going to do what they’re gonna do until they flip and do it.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6.30am on ITV.

Caprice Bourret is the 12th contestant confirmed for Dancing On Ice 2020 – and we’re living for it.

The 47-year-old shared the news in a video on Lorraine, telling the host: ‘Hi Lorraine, it’s Caprice! So, I’ve got some really big news, and I’m telling you first.

‘I’m going to be on Dancing On Ice 2020,’ she said, before screaming in excitement.

Us too, hun.

Speaking about the challenge, she revealed: ‘At the moment no nerves. I’m excited more than anything.’

The model is the last famous face to be announced for the show, and joins a pretty star-studded line-up.

Trisha Goddard confirmed she would be taking part on the ITV show yesterday, admitting she agreed to take part of a few drinks.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the TV presenter said she bumped into one of the show’s pros, who twisted her arm.

‘After a few bevvies I take a few selfies saying “I would do Dancing On Ice if I could do it with this dude”. The next morning I got a call,’ she told the hosts. ‘Hangover hadn’t even cleared!’

Opening up about her prospects on the show, Trisha revealed she actually learned to skate as a child.

She added: ‘I learned to ski at 37, I learned to roller blade at 42, I’m 62 in December.’

Could she be the Dancing On Ice underdog?

Caprice and Trisha will also be joining Love Island’s Maura Higgins, Joe Swash, Diversity’s Perri Kiely and Michael Barrymore on the show.

Dancing On Ice will return early next year with a new look judging line up – after Jason Gardiner quit earlier this year and was replaced by actor John Barrowman.

Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean and Ashley Banjo have kept their spots on the panel, and This Morning duo Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby return as hosts.

Graham Norton has defended his £610,000 a year pay packet from the BBC, stating that his ITV counterparts like Phillip Schofield actually get a hell of a lot more.

The chat show legend said that MP’s would ‘love’ to know what ITV stars get as it would shock them, but as a publicly-finded company, only the BBC’s are available.

Speaking to Radio Times, Graham said: ‘That’s what’s odd about this situation, for the top 20 of us at the BBC. For some reason MPs want to know what famous people at the BBC earn.

‘If [MP’s] could get ITV to tell them what Phillip Schofield gets, they’d love to know.’

‘I have to say, what would really shock the public is to discover the disparity between ITV and BBC,’ he added. ‘People would go, “Wow!”‘

Graham was the third highest paid presenter at the Beeb when the records were released this year, with Gary Lineker topping the boards with a whopping £1.75million salary.

Chris Evans, who has now left the BBC, earned £1.25million for his show.

However, the £610,000-a-year price tag is not entirely accurate as he’s also paid through a private production firm for his role as the host of the Graham Norton Show.

Meanwhile, Phillip Schofield over on ITV is said to have earned around £1.73million from a collection of deals including sponsorships and presenting favourites including 5 Gold Rings, Dancing On Ice, and, of course, This Morning.

The Graham Norton Show airs Fridays at 10pm on BBC One.

Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin slams finale and ‘traumatic’ ending: ‘It wasn’t faithful’

(pic: Rex Features)

Game of Thrones’ finale was divisive, to say the least, namely because the fantasy epic fans invested the best part of a decade to have their ending rushed into six episodes.

There were countless storylines that never wrapped up, questions that will never be answered and now creator George RR Martin has lashed out at HBO producers for forcing him to throw the spotlight on characters he otherwise wouldn’t have and cutting the finale short.

‘It can be… traumatic,’ the creator of Westeros told Fast Company. ‘Because sometimes their creative vision and your creative vision don’t match, and you get the famous creative differences thing — that leads to a lot of conflict.

‘The [final] series has been… not completely faithful. Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons.

‘You get totally extraneous things like the studio or the network weighing in, and they have some particular thing that has nothing to do with story, but relates to “Well this character has a very high Q Rating so let’s give him a lot more stuff to do.”’

Backlash towards the Game of Thrones finale was unprecedented. A petition amassed almost two million signatures calling for season eight to be rewritten while writers D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have been listed as ‘bad writers’ on Google.

Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Kit Harington as Jon Snow HBO has released 35 photos from the series finale episode of Game of Thrones. The episode has now aired on both coasts of the U.S. and the network has revealed all of the great photos snapped by their team during production of the finale. Among the stars included in the photos are Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. We recapped all of the 20 biggest moments that happened during the series finale, so make sure to take a look at that. Also, we have Emilia?s reaction to the big twist that happened with her character Daenerys, plus Kit?s thoughts on the shocking death of one of the characters in the finale.

Regardless, Game of Thrones bowed out with a further 32 Emmy Awards, including the biggest prize of the year winning the coveted Best Drama while Peter Dinklage broke his own Emmy record to win Best Supporting Actor for a fourth time.

And he celebrated with a suitably sweary speech, which has to be severely bleeped out during the live broadcast. Tyrion Lanniser would be proud.

The Royle Family favourites Ricky Tomlinson and Ralf Little are finally reuniting for a new TV series

Ricky and Ralf famously starred as father and son Jim and Anthony Royle in the BBC sitcom The Royle Family(Picture: BBC)

Ricky Tomlinson and Ralf Little are to be reunited on-screen for the first time since The Royle Family in a new series for UKTV.

Ricky and Ralf’s Very Northern Road Trip will see the two comics travel through the North of England in a campervan in an effort to discover what sets the North apart from the rest of the UK.

Fans can expect some memories to be shared and entertainment to be had along the way, as well of course as the very Northern sensibility of humour audiences came to know and love through the stars’ time on the famous working-class sitcom.

The on-screen father and son TV duo seem absolutely buzzing to be teaming up again and heading out on the road together.

‘People are always going on about exotic holidays here, luxury cruises there,’ Ricky says. ‘Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of sun on the Med as much as the next man – but for my money there’s everything you could ever want on your doorstep here in the north of England.’

Ralf adds: ‘This promises to be a holiday like no other. Weeks on the road in a campervan with my 80-year-old TV dad in the middle of autumn, what could possibly go wrong?’

BBC ONE's The Royle Family, clockwise from bottom Jim (RICKY TOMLINSON), Barbara (SUE JOHNSTON), Anthony (RALPH LITTLE), Denise (CAROLINE AHERNE), Dave (CRAIG CASH) and Nana (LIZ SMITH). The Royle Family cleaned up Saturday 18 December 1999 at the British Comedy Awards with four titles, including one for its star and creator Caroline Aherne, who was named best actress. Her colleague Ricky Tomlinson was named best actor and the programme was named top sitcom at the ceremony in London. Makers of TV hit The Royle Family are furious after the BBC today admitted it bungled in entering the wrong episode for a major international competition. The show had been hotly tipped to take a major title at the Rose d'Or festival in Montreux which could have led to lucrative deals around the world for Caroline Aherne's show. But a botch-up led to the wrong - and ineligible - edition of the show being entered for the contest that Granada, which made the show although it is screened on BBC1, felt could have affected the outcome. For fans, this may well be their one and only chance to see Jim and Anthony Royle reunited on-screen again, as a Royle Family reboot has been ruled out following the death of the show’s writer and co-star Caroline Aherne in 2016.

Ricky and Ralf’s Very Northern Road Trip will air on UKTV Gold next year.

Kelvin Fletcher has delighted Strictly Come Dancing viewers with his technique on the dancefloor, alongside partner Oti Mabuse.

But his Emmerdale co-star Laura Norton isn’t all that surprised by the 35-year-old’s ability.

In fact the actress, who plays Kerry Wyatt on the soap, confessed she ‘knew’ how his hips worked, after their characters dated onscreen.

During an appearance on Lorraine, talk turned from her relationship with Mark Jordon, to how her former co-star is getting on in the BBC competition.

And the 36-year-old told the host: ‘Me and Kelvin have had many nights out so I knew how those hips worked, but it’s a different ballgame with this, it’s the technicalities.

‘I knew he was going to be good but I didn’t know he would be that good.

‘He’s such an amazing person, I think everyone would just fall in love with his personality.’

We’re way, way ahead of you, Laura!

But would the soap star ever want to follow her pal onto the dancefloor?

‘I would love to [do Strictly], but I don’t know how good I’d be,’ she added.

Kelvin has earned standing ovations from everyone in sight thanks to his epic Strictly Come Dancing start – especially after that samba.

His stint has left viewers feeling a little hot under the collar, with the actor being branded the new sex symbol.

But Kelvin – who replaced Jamie Laing just days before the series kicked off – has downplayed the whole thing.

Speaking about the intense reaction, he told Radio Times: ‘Oh I don’t know about that! It is amazing, and I wasn’t expecting it at all.

‘When I saw the reaction, I know we’d done well, and then we got some great comments. It was a crazy few days.’

Something tells us this is only the beginning of Kelvin-mania…

Lorraine continues on weekdays, at 8.30am, on ITV.

Star Wars Resistance fans have had their theories confirmed that the duo of Orka and Flix are an out and proud gay couple.

This is the first instance in the Star Wars Universe that the existence of LGBT+ characters have been openly announced and the two (voiced by Saturday Night Live’s Bobby Moynihan and Community’s Jim Rash respectively) are now officially the first ever gay couple in the Star Wars Universe.

Producers of the animated spin-off joined the Coffee with Kenobi podcast to finally break the news, which fans have theorised about since the cartoon’s debut. In the show, the duo both man the Office of Acquistions aboard the refueling ship Colussus.

‘I think it’s safe to say they’re an item,’ Justin Ridge said.

‘They’re absolutely a gay couple,’ Brandon Auman agreed. ‘And we’re proud of that.’

It also seems that the actors behind the happy couple are very proud to be associated with this historic moment, and it turns out that they knew all along!

‘I’m so happy I’m allowed to say it,’ Moynihan shared. ‘I have had a sentence prepared for a year and a half if someone would finally ask me. I would say “All I can say is, when Flix says I love you, Orca says I know.”’

For now, Orka and Flix may be the first official Star Wars gay couple, but fans are hoping that soon they’ll get live-action counterparts too. John Boyega and Oscar Isaac have been teasing the romantic potential for Finn and Poe in Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker.

In other Star Wars news, Ewan McGregor’s long-awaited return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in his own TV series has finally found its director

Star Wars Resistance airs on Disney Channel, while Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker hits cinemas December 19.

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty breaks silence with singalong as BBC overturn complaint ruling amid Trump tweet row

Naga Munchetty broke her silence for the first time amid the row over her comments about President Donald Trump.

The BBC Breakfast presenter enjoyed a golfing trip and burst into song on the way with some friends.

She joked that there was some ‘extra special shampoo commercial style hair flicking’ going on.

As she belted out the words to Hold On by Wilson Phillips, the 44-year-old smiled and laughed straight down the camera in footage posted to her Instagram page.

It came after she found herself at the centre of a row over a tweet posted by the president telling four US Congresswomen to ‘go home’.

On an episode of the morning programme that aired in July, she spoke about her own experiences with hearing similar comments.

A viewer made a complaint to the BBC about her exchange with co-host Dan Walker at the time, and after an investigation the complaint was partially upheld, but this has since been overturned.

The BBC initially ruled she went ‘beyond what the guidelines allow for’ with her remarks, and the broadcaster’s Executive Complaints Unit upheld the complaint for breaking impartiality guidelines.

There was public outcry over the ruling, with many of Naga’s peers and BAME celebrities such as Lenny Henry and Adrian Lester coming to her defence.

In an open letter published in The Guardian, more than 40 broadcasters, actors and journalists urged the BBC to rethink their decision. Other famous faces including Piers Morgan and DJ Trevor Nelson also voiced their support on social media.

However BBC director-general Tony Hall wrote to all members of staff on Monday to state that there was no finding against Naga and that the initial ECU ruling had been overturned.

He praised her as ‘an exceptional journalist’ and added that her comments weren’t ‘sufficient enough to merit a partial uphold of the complaint around the comments she made.’

While discussing Trump’s comments, she said: ‘Every time I’ve been told as a woman of colour to “go home”, to “go back to where I’ve come from”, that was embedded in racism.

‘Now I’m not accusing anyone of anything here but you know what certain phrases mean.’

Dan asked if she had ‘heard that quite regularly’, to which she replied: ‘Yes. Not regularly but I’ve been told it’.

He then asked: ‘You’re sitting here not giving an opinion, but how do you feel as someone when you’ve been told that before, and when you hear that from him?’

Naga replied that she felt ‘absolutely furious’.

Ruby Rose looked like something out of a ‘horror film’ after allergic reaction to Batwoman mask

Ruby Rose was left looking like something out of a horror film after suffering from an allergic reaction to her Batwoman mask.

The 33-year-old will be appearing in the adaptation as the iconic superhero, which will be released later this month.

However, her role came with a price, as during an appearance on The Tonight Show, she explained she had to fill the mask with cotton after coming up in hives.

Chatting with Jimmy Fallon, the actress said: ‘I was allergic to my cowl, my mask. I was allergic to the adhesive tape so I had hives for awhile.

‘About five or six days in it was like I was a pre-Proactiv 15 year-old child an then when I took it off I was like something out of a horror film.’

She laughed: ‘We had to take everything out of it and put something else like cotton in there.’

But this isn’t the only hardship Ruby had to face when filming the upcoming hit, as she also broke her neck when performing a stunt.

Yes, the star was almost left paralysed after mistakenly thinking she had injured a rib.

Explaining her situation, she told the host: ‘I broke my neck on the show. I did a stunt for a very extended amount of time, like seven hours, and we thought I had broken a rib or fractured a rib and that would be six to 12 weeks of healing.

‘I had six to 12 weeks for chronic pain and just kept assuming that’s what it was until I went to the doctor and they said: “It’s your neck, the pain radiates to all these places with the nerve endings.”‘

She paused for a moment before adding: ‘I had an MRI and I had to get it in Romania as I was in the middle of a film where I was also doing stunts.

‘The doctor called and said: “Basically you could become paraplegic. This is your spine and two of your discs have become herniated and have broken all of the protective layer, this tiny amount of your spine is not severed and if you don’t get back you could become paraplegic.”

‘Even just sleeping wrong or turning my head in a strange direction could do it. It was really terrifying. So I did the surgery.’

Ruby recently shared a gruesome video of herself going under the knife in an attempt to explain to her Instagram followers how she acquired her new neck scar.

‘To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck… a couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed,’ she wrote.

‘I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms.

‘Thank you Dr Bray for everything you did and for allowing me to keep working and doing what I love.’

Batwoman will be released on the CW this autumn.

From promoting indie music to making geekdom cool, The OC had more impact than any other teen series

Amongst the unrealistic plot and teen angst, The OC managed to become the most impactful teen show ever (Picture: Warner Bros Tv/Kobal/REX)

It has been 16 years since The OC began, and 12 since it ended – but when I found out that the iconic teen series had dropped on Amazon Prime, it was like it was the early noughties again.

Yes, all four series of The OC are available to stream on Prime, and you bet your bottom dollar I have spent every spare moment of the past week bingeing the first season, gleefully inserting myself into the world of California’s most privileged teens.

If you haven’t been blessed with Josh Schwartz’s seminal teen drama – and for that, I am so, so sorry – here’s a recap: Ryan Atwood is the heartthrob from the wrong side of the tracks who ends up living with the super-rich Cohen family in Newport Beach, Orange County (hence the title) after he gets arrested for stealing a car. In Newport, Ryan meets quick-witted yet nerdy Seth Cohen, the beautiful yet troubled Marissa Cooper and little miss popular Summer Roberts as he navigates his new life.

Yes, it may sound melodramatic. That’s because it is. But amongst the unrealistic plot and teen angst, The OC managed to become the most impactful teen show ever.

The OC was so much more than melodrama (Picture: Snap Stills/REX)

Sorry, Dawson’s Creek lover and Gossip Girl stans, it’s true. As I settled in to watch the pilot, which somehow features Ryan’s entire backstory, a fashion show, a beach party and a punch-up with Luke, I realised how much The OC influenced teenage me.

In this very first episode, I was introduced to Mazzy Star’s Into Dust as Ryan carried a drunk Marissa to safety. This was the first time I heard Mazzy Star as a teenager – and if it was good enough for Ryan and Marissa, it was good enough for me. It’s no secret that The OC’s soundtrack has been incredibly influential not just for viewers, but for bands.

As a music venue came to Newport Beach, bands like The Subways, The Walkmen and notably The Killers played the Bait Shop and brought indie music into the living rooms of young teens. Rooney reportedly had a 200% increase in sales after appearing on the show, while Death Cab For Cutie – Seth Cohen’s favourite band – cited their exposure in the show as helping them get signed to Atlantic Records.

Seth Cohen was the true leading man (Picture: Snap Stills/REX)

Such a player in music was The OC that established artists began premiering their songs on the show – Beastie Boys’ Ch-Check It Out, U2’s Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own, Gwen Stefani’s Cool, Coldplay’s Fix You (set to Caleb Nichol’s heart attack) and five of Beck’s songs were all debuted on the show.

But as influential as it was for artists, it was even more influential for my mp3 player. I was a teenage girl in Ireland who was just getting into indie music, and now basically had a big brother beamed onto her television every week telling her what was cool.

This has stuck with me. Bands I discovered on The OC are among my favourites today. When I hear Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap I see Trey being shot, and when I hear Dice by Finley Quaye, I see Ryan running up the stairs on New Year’s Eve to get Marissa away from Oliver (who, by the way, remains one of the worst characters in the history of television).

And it’s not just music that The OC has influenced. Back in 2003, a cool geek wasn’t really a thing. While in 2019, Avengers: Endgame is the highest grossing film of all time and Comic-Con is an extravaganza that attracts the biggest names in cinema, comic books just weren’t that cool then, and liking comic books made you a nerd and, in The OC, a loser.

But Seth Cohen made being a geek cool. He was the one with all of the witty lines, it was his relationship with Summer we all cared about (sorry, Ryan and Marissa), and he was the one we all had a crush on. Before Seth, a character who set up a comic book club to talk about the new issue of Legion would never have been considered the true heartthrob – but The OC switched that trope on its head. Now, comic books are as mainstream as it gets, and while I’m not saying that Seth and The OC are responsible for the success of the MCU, the show should be given credit for what it did for geekdom.

Sure, on face value, The OC is just another trashy teen show. There’s rich people at parties, there’s Chanel, there’s a kid from Chino living in a poolhouse, there’s roughly 18 storylines in season one and all of the kids at Harbour High are impossibly good-looking.

But look deeper, and you will realise that show not only influenced our viewing habits, but our entire teen lives. For someone shaping who they are, The OC made indie the cool thing to listen to and sarcasm the humour to aim for. For how mainstream it was, The OC actually made it cool to be the outsider – and for that, I salute it.

The Capture star Callum Turner reveals he had some seriously trippy training to play Shaun Emery

Callum Turner has emerged as one of the most exciting new talents of 2019 in BBC’s The Capture, but the 29-year-old had a pretty wild ride to play Shaun Emery.

Ben Chanan’s thriller follows Callum’s Shaun on the run after CCTV footage shows the soldier beating his barrister Hannah Roberts (played by Laura Haddock) before dragging her away to a ‘blind spot’, where police are unable to trace the missing victim.

But despite the attack unfolding on-screen live in front of CCTV officers, Shaun is adamant when he left Hannah she was safely getting on a bus home and the assault never happened.

It’s by far one of the most compelling dramas this year as viewers are forced to face the prospect that perhaps we can’t believe everything we see.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast today, Callum revealed he had his own trippy experience while training for the role.

‘I didn’t live like a soldier but I spent a lot of time with a couple of boys,’ he told presenters, Louise Minchin and Sally Nugent.

‘There was this guy Smudge who was originally the fitness guy because it’s a physical role, but he then shared his life story with me and he helped build the character, the experience he had and the journey he’d been on during tours and what it’s like coming back into city life.

‘Then I was with another ex-soldier, Bags, we did weapons training and we did surveillance. We did a whole surveillance day in which Bags said to me pick a cafe, and to cut a long story short he said, “How many people do you think are going to be involved in this today?”

‘I said about four, so he clapped and then everyone [in the cafe] put their things away and left – even the person who was working in the cafe as well, he asked them to get out as well. It was like being on a Derren Brown show.’

‘And then I was in,’ Shaun grinned. ‘I had to follow a few people, it was like a whole operation!’

Tonight the Capture reaches its penultimate episode after Shaun was confronted with a ghost from his past. Spoiler pictures revealed the return of Hannah, but how?

The Capture continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One.

What was the complaint about BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty and what did she say about President Donald Trump?

The BBC has overturned its ruling against presenter Naga Munchetty after a complaint was made about her comments on President Donald Trump.

The BBC Breakfast presenter expressed her views on Trump’s comments aimed at four US congresswomen telling them to ‘go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came’.

Speaking on the programme to co-host Dan Walker, she recalled her own experiences of being told to ‘go home’ in the UK.

Naga, 44, was found to be in breach of BBC guidelines after an investigation.

But following public outcry – including an open letter from various BAME celebrities such as Lenny Henry and Adrian Lester – the BBC overturned the decision.

What was the complaint about Naga Munchetty?

According to The Guardian, the original complaint, titled ‘Blatant political bias from both presenters’ was aimed at both Naga and Dan.

It said Dan ‘unprofessionally’ asked Naga for her opinion which she ‘foolishly complied with’, and claimed her comments were ‘an attack on Trump’.

It said: ‘They are employed as presenters not political commentators and as such should at least feign impartiality. It’s about time they were reminded of this.’

The viewer added that Dan was ‘repeatedly expressing incredulity’.

Naga Munchetty BBC
Naga and Dan Walker discussed President Trump’s comment on BBC Breakfast earlier this year (Picture: BBC)

The BBC initially defended the presenters, which prompted a second complaint from the same viewer that narrowed in on Naga.

They claimed that the presenters’ remarks ‘could not possibly be construed as the making of a “general point” by any reasonable person’ and insisted their complaint be looked at again.

‘If you are content for your supposedly impartial presenters to make biased political statements, just say so. If you are not, then my complaint should be upheld and words of advice given,’ they added.

A BBC spokesperson said to Metro.co.uk at the time: ‘The appeal to the ECU focused on comments by one presenter, but the statement from the executive team on Friday is clear – the BBC is not impartial on racism. Racism is not an opinion and it is not a matter for debate. Racism is racism. Naga has the very clear support of the top of the organisation.’

What did Naga Munchetty actually say?

While discussing Trump’s comments on BBC Breakfast in July, she said: ‘Every time I’ve been told as a woman of colour to “go home, to “go back to where I’ve come from”, that was embedded in racism.

‘And I imagine a lot of people in this country will be feeling absolutely furious that a man in that position feels it’s OK to skirt the lines with using language like that.’

Dan said it came across a ‘a thought-out strategy to strengthen his position’, to which Naga replied: ‘And it is not enough to do it just to get attention. He’s in a responsible position. Anyway I’m not here to give my opinion.’

Watch their exchange below.

What was the BBC’s original response?

The BBC initially ruled she went ‘beyond what the guidelines allow for’ with her remarks, and the broadcaster’s Executive Complaints Unit upheld the complaint for breaking impartiality guidelines.

In a statement released by the Editorial Complaints Unit (ECU), it was stated that while Trump’s comments were ‘widely condemned as racist’ and Naga was ‘perfectly entitled to give a personal response’, but she crossed a line when talking about Trump directly.

‘Our editorial guidelines do not allow for journalists to then give their opinions about the individual making the remarks or their motives for doing so – in this case President Trump – and it was for this reason that the complaint was partially upheld,’ they wrote.

‘Those judgements are for the audience to make.’

A spokesperson for the BBC said: ‘The ECU ruled that while Ms Munchetty was entitled to give a personal response to the phrase “go back to your own country” as it was rooted in her own experience, overall her comments went beyond what the guidelines allow for.’

Which stars defended Naga?

There was public outcry over the ruling, with many of Naga’s peers and BAME celebrities such as Lenny Henry and Adrian Lester coming to her defence.

In an open letter published in The Guardian, more than 40 broadcasters, actors and journalists urged the BBC to rethink their decision.

It read: ‘While we stand in support of Munchetty, the consequences of this decision are widespread with implications for the entire media landscape in the UK and those who work within it.

‘The scope of its effect is already evidenced in the unprecedented number of BAME media figures who have openly and publicly voiced their condemnation on social media.’

Journalists, broadcasters and presenters including Piers Morgan, Afua Hirsch, Krishnan Guru-Murthy and DJ Trevor Nelson were also vocal on social media in support of Naga.

Why did the BBC overturn the ruling?

BBC director-general Tony Hall wrote to all members of staff on Monday to state that there was no finding against Naga and that the initial ECU ruling had been overturned.

He praised her as ‘an exceptional journalist’ and added that her comments weren’t ‘sufficient enough to merit a partial uphold of the complaint around the comments she made.’

According to Sky News, Hall’s message said: ‘Racism is racism and the BBC is not impartial on the topic. There was never a finding against Naga for what she said about the President’s tweet.

‘Many of you asked that I personally review the decision of the ECU. I have done so. I have looked carefully at all the arguments that have been made and assessed all of the materials. I have also examined the complaint itself.’

Hall continued: ‘It was only ever in a limited way that there was found to be a breach of our guidelines. These are often finely balanced and difficult judgements.

‘But, in this instance, I don’t think Naga’s words were sufficient to merit a partial uphold of the complaint around the comments she made.

‘There was never any sanction against Naga and I hope this step makes that absolutely clear. She is an exceptional journalist and presenter and I am proud that she works for the BBC.’

Has Naga said anything?

The presenter is yet to address anything directly, but she looked pretty happy in a video she shared on Instagram of herself with friends heading off for a round of golf, enjoying a good old singalong in the car.

She joked that there was ‘extra special hair flicking’ going on.

What did President Donald Trump say?

At the time, Donald Trump denied the remarks were racist, which were levelled against congresswomen, and US citizens, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley.

In his original tweets, Trump wrote: ‘So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is run.

‘Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough.’

Good Morning Britain presenter Laura Tobin had to think on her feet after a technical blunder live on today’s show.

Her weather map refused to play ball, forcing Laura to ‘improvise’ for viewers watching at home.

While delivering the unwelcome but unsurprising news that the country should brace itself for more rain today.

She explained: ‘Weather wise we are talking about Hurricane Lorenzo, but today the forecast is for yet more rain.’

Laura expected the screen behind her to change to a map of the UK to follow along with what she was saying, but a different image came up instead.

Losing her train of thought, the presenter said: ‘The band of rain is, a bit later on…that’s not working very well.’

She attempted to press on before the weather map glitched again, adding: ‘The band of rain is moving its way northwards as we head through the day today.

‘They’re not working at all, I’ll just describe the weather today.’

Totally used to live TV and well aware these things can happen, Laura pressed on with the segment effortlessly.

She also showed off her specially made T-shirt with presenter Susanna Reid’s face emblazoned on the front to congratulate her winning three National Reality TV Awards the night before.

Susanna took to the stage three times on the night to collect awards for best TV presenter and celebrity personality of the year, and best talk show, although her co-host Piers Morgan argued that they weren’t a ‘talk show’.

Good Morning Britain opened the show with praise for their award-winning host as Piers said he was genuinely happy about her wins.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6.30am on ITV.
